Why do these reports claim to know the story but don’t actually report on it as journalists?

  1. This is gonna be such a shitshow when they start to have hearings about the guaranteed money.

  2. They’re dancing around something here. It’s probably gonna get weird. Man, I hope they can get this over with quickly (wishful thinking).

  3. I think this may be a teabagging or teabagging-adjacent situation.. It checks all the boxes for being ‘weird’ and warrants HR involvement where a ‘playful kiss’ just doesn’t

  4. Definitely more to it than we know so far. Hopefully the players and coaches can move on from this without being distracted by it. The timing at least is better than AB’s early-september meltdown and DA’s late-September drama.

  5. The team is just throwing rumors out there to make the player they cut look bad. Happens all the time, in every sport.

Maybe there’s more to it, but without actual reporting, I’m inclined to doubt.

  6. Obviously was always more than an unsolicited kiss on the forehead, the real question is will the Raiders slowly leaking the “true” story stop Wilkins from filing his grievance. Getting a locker room full of players in agreement on anything seems hard but it doesn’t seem like anyone misses Christian which makes me believe this wasn’t some playful thing.

  7. Dear football gods,

Can we please have at least ONE season without drama?

    Sincerely,

    Raider Nation

    P.S. Just win baby!

  8. Butler made an interesting comment on this in the presser today after saying he had no comment. His response was something about if anyone ever needs help with something they are struggling with (like mentally or emotionally), there are people out there that can help you.
    Feels like AB/Chandler Jones vibes.

  9. When asked about Wilkins, Butler said he’d rather not comment but then said he hopes if there’s people out there struggling that they go get the help they need.

Florio said that the “kisses on forehead” story is *not* what’s floating around the league.

There’s gonna be more. Shit, it’s a Raiders offseason. There’s *always* more.

  10. I’m not seeing drama like others. There’s no drama in cutting away a team cancer. That should strengthen the team. The players know the real truth behind all of this. Unless Wilkins is being unjustly thrown under the bus (which I can’t see with the current coach & staff) there shouldn’t be any fallout that would show up on the field.

  11. Heard that some are not giving consent as a source, even as anonymous, and media is also being careful with legal battle brewing. It’s obvious there has to be more and enough events that the team decided to void the contract. FO probably felt Wilkins was disruptive and when they found a reason, that contract was voided.

  12. The way it works for Schefter and those like him is that they hear rumors all the time but don’t report them until they’re sure they are true.

‘Sure’ varies for someone like Schefter depending on what the story is and on something like this, I suspect Schefter wants to hear from someone who witnessed it first hand. He doesn’t need that person on the record with a name, but he needs to be ‘sure’ for himself.

Chris Simms strikes me as a guy who doesn’t have anywhere near the same sources as Schefter does, so what he is doing here is reporting the rumor. That is irresponsible, as rumors are often not true.

I think what happens now is that someone from the Raiders gets the story leaked to someone like Schefter asap because this slow drip of a little more news every day sucks ass for the team.

  13. To answer your question, there’s either pending legal issues and people are waiting to see what happens with that or the sources haven’t been backed up for something that’s really bad. If they come out and say he teabagged someone and it turns out that wasn’t the case they can be sued.

  14. Tired of the fucking crumbs of rumors and all these reddit detective jackasses jumping to every conclusion they can conjure up
