Is there a trade scenario you guys have that includes trading one of these players to another team?
Mine would be Ward to Philly for Mick Abel
I wouldn't trade Adell at this point

  1. hope we don’t give up either tbh. Both are having breakout years it’d suck to see em leave

  2. It would have to be a major haul. We don’t have any quality big league outfielders to replace either of them, so trading one or both would put us at a big disadvantage for next year.

  3. With Solar and Trout unable to play the outfield why on earth would we trade two outfielders?

  4. imo ward has got to go. i think it’s unlikely we extend him (and i don’t want that anyway), and he is truly never going to be as valuable as he is right now this season.

adell, on the other hand… man if it were me i would still pick up the phone and listen but the return would have to be *a lot*. dude is still relatively young with room to still improve i think. but heck, if the return is right, i don’t think he is absolutely untradeable.

  5. Ward is one that I could see let go, but I’d like to see Adell stay. He’s had a decent year and I’d like to see if he keeps improving.

  6. Adell has improved a lot. Trading him would be a mistake. Ward on the other hand should be on the table

  7. If they trade Jo, I’m officially done until Arte is gone. I’ll just be a Phillies fan.

  8. You have to take emotion out of it. Adell has helped us out by becoming a hot trade piece. You have to sell high when other teams are willing to overpay

  9. Would let Ward go given his age but I think Adell shouldn’t be dealt.

Ward is under contract for next year so it would need to be solid comp to let him go which would be tough to get since the team needs are starting pitching and an every day third baseman.

Angels want mlb ready talent so makes it tough to get what they need from a trade.

  10. They’ll do amazing under an owner and front office who actually give a shit about winning instead of just milking the fanbase.

  11. I feel like the Angels have stuck with Jo Adell this long and he’s finally showing progress to being the player he was projected to be. Too much invested in him, want to see how he continues.

Would like to keep Ward too. But if someone wants to overpay then it would be foolish not to

  12. They’ve invested so much time and patience into Jo Adell. It’ll be real interesting if they decide to trade him.

  13. Trading Ward has its merits, since he’s a FA after next year and might be one of the top outfielders moved this deadline.

Trading Adell, considering how good he’s been and the fact that he’s under control through 2027, makes less sense IMO, unless there’s a trade that blows the Angels out of the water.

  14. jo adell is the worst defensive CF in baseball this year. if i got a good return on either, then i would move both, but i would move everyone that isn’t part of the young core. i would also rebuild, but i’m crazy like that and would be fired by arte immediatly.

  15. I think it’s kind of crazy to act like a 2-3 WAR/year player is so important for a team that hasn’t finished >.500 in 10 years. Ward is the type of guy you need when you’re 1 or 2 pieces away from a World Series. That’s why he will be valuable to teams with legitimate championship aspirations.

Simply trading Ward is going to net an additional ~1 WAR by being able to move Adell to a corner. Adding a better defender in center, either via trade or free agency, will drastically improve an outfield that is the 2nd worst in all of baseball.

Again, I just think it’s ridiculous to say that this team can’t find an extra 1-2 WAR/year when there’s no less than 10 roster spots that could be upgraded. They’re ranked 26th in ERA/ERA- and 29th in DRS, but sure, they absolutely *need* a 32 year-old outfielder who is about 10-20% better than league average.

  16. I get why fans want to hold Adell, but if you’re gonna trade him, there’s probably no better time than now. You can’t only trade players when they’re bad, for obvious reasons. We do want to get good value outta him though, since we held the bag for this long for him to finally get better. I’m okay with holding him but would prefer to get a nice haul to help us reset.

  17. I kind of want to keep Adell, seems like he’s starting to become a better fielder, Ward would hopefully get us a prospect and they can give Rada a chance.

  18. I think you have to trade Ward. He will have decent value and will be too old to hand a long-term contract to when he hits FA.

With Adell finally breaking out I need to see him finish out the year before I regret trading him when he is cheap and controllable for 2 more years.

  19. If a contender is willing to overpay for a 32 year old Ward we should jump on that but if we trade Adell he will pop off and make us look stupid

  20. I’m squeamish on selling anyone other than the mercenaries we hired in the preseason. If we were the Giants, A’s or a few other teams who know how to work a farm system, I would be on board, but this FO is as clueless as it comes. We have known commodities in Ward and Adell.
