Trey Hendrickson Ending Holdout, Bengals Training Camp Storylines & More | Enter the Jungle LIVE

Uh oh. Uh oh. Andrew, we’re live and we’re nine minutes early. Welcome in to Cincinnati Bengals Talk. I’m James Rup. He’s Andrew Fox Miller. And this is a special live edition of Enter the Jungle that was planned perfectly. I mean, damn near perfect, Andrew, because we were going to go live at 8. We had discussed, ah, should we go live earlier today? Should we The Bengals aren’t practicing. Should we? Nope. We kept it at eight and thank goodness we did because Trey Hendrickson said, “Oh boy, we’re ending the hold out. We’re going to dive into that. We’re going to do some other topics as well.” And then of course, as we always do during these live sessions, we’re going to answer your questions. But Andrew does need to do a mic check on his side and I’ve talked for the first 49 seconds of this stream. So Andrew, how about you say something? Only 49 seconds. Let’s see. That’s right. It’s good. Uh, I’m listening. Talk. I was going to say you got to talk. We’re good. I’m hearing you twice. Can you imagine what I’m going through right now? Hearing you twice listening to and then listening to the delay on Sounds like heaven. Heaven in your ears. Heaven in your ear. I think we’re good. You sure? I think we’re good. I think we’re good. I don’t want to be yelled at next time for not being loud enough on the mic here. Well, don’t uh don’t be so quiet. Talk up. Speak up. Speak lessons. You were you were not wrong about timing. Like down to the wire. We we talked about it. We even debated should we just record this like earlier in the day? What if we just recorded? Imagine imagine if we had would have just been all all for nothing. You would have been so mad. I would have been so mad. And here we are. All right. So, basically this is how it works. As you file in, get ready. We’re going to talk a lot of Trey Hendricks and we’re literally going to open up the show with Trey and uh in and out coming in and out of each segment. We’ll we’ll chat with you in between a little bit and then we’ll get to all of your questions in the live stream uh after we finish. This is a live taping event of the jungle. It’s like 22 minutes of show that we send to FanDuel and it airs on FanDuel Sports Network each and every week. And uh we’re really really excited to be here with you as Trey makes his way to Cincinnati for the for the first time. He’ll be at the Bengals facilities tomorrow for the first time since May 13th or whatever it was during the offseason program when he showed up and uh shocked everyone when he showed up and and chatted with us for 25 minutes. Yeah, the unannounced visit. Him wearing the the light blue polo. I remember it like it was yesterday, James. Still looking at that footage. I still use that footage when we talk about it’s the last footage we have. Why wouldn’t you? Yeah, why wouldn’t you? Until tomorrow, baby. Until tomorrow when we get him walking out there with another ball cap on. That’s right. Spoiler spoiler of what this Trey Hendrickson thing means. Wait, we over 400 watching on YouTube now. People are filing. And we’ve also got people on Twitter on X that are filing in. I will say that as far as recording goes, I’m seeing a lot of the comments, by the way. I’m seeing the comments. Everyone’s like, “Hey, hey, hey, this means nothing. This means nothing. He’s Yeah, he’s reporting, but doesn’t mean a deal’s done. Doesn’t mean anything till a deal’s done. Guess we’re going to have to talk about this in this episode, James, as we record for FanDuel Sports Network.” Yeah. All right. Let’s uh let’s talk about what it means and let’s dive in. Are you ready, Andrew? Here’s where we Everybody, here’s where we queue up and we get ready as though we’re gonna we’re gonna start. I’m playing the music. Uh, don’t do the music. Oh, yeah. Why not? Why not? Yeah. What do you mean? We deserve some fun, don’t we? We should have some fun once in a while. You thinking our our our music, our 8-second intro is I think I think you find joy in it. That’s all. That’s fair. All right. Three. Oh, you got to take a drink. Got to hydrate. Don’t worry. Hitting the I’m ready. Two. Trey Hendrickson’s hold out is officially over. What does it mean for the Bengals star pass rusher? Plus, thoughts on Joe Burrow and other training camp takeaways right now on Enter the Jungle. [Music] Hi again everyone and welcome in to Enter the Jungle. I’m James RP. He’s Andrew Fox Miller. Catch us every single Tuesday at 8 Eastern on the YouTube channel Cincinnati Bengals Talk. Also check us out weekly on FanDuel Sports Network. We are brought to you by GarageBear and Lakespur Marketing. And boy oh boy do we need to get into the the news of the day. Potentially the news of the week. Andrew Trey Hendrickson ending his hold out will report for Bengals training camp on Wednesday morning. And that in and of itself is huge news. Uh one, he was being fined $50,000 per day, $250,000 and racked up fines to this point. He’s missed the first five practices. Your instant reaction when you saw that Trey Hendrickson was going to report for training camp? I think it made practical sense to me. You don’t want to get fined. Obviously, it adds up. I don’t care how mult how many millions you think you’re going to get or that you already have. It adds up. I am a little surprised that it happened this quickly, relatively speaking, only because Trey seemed so firm in his conviction with all of this, right? And that’s not to say that Trey’s losing some ground or there’s a losing side in any of this. I’m just simply saying that Trey seemed very adamant that he wasn’t going to budge on this thing. And I hope that this is a sign of, you know, maybe there’s some optimism that we’re inching closer to something. Maybe one, it’s a good thing. It’s a good thing because having Trey in the building is better than not having him in the building. Uh especially if you want Trey to get paid. That’s it. Uh in the short term, could this be more of a distraction than him being gone and out of the picture? Maybe. But this needed to happen. It needs to happen now, not later. Because the Bengals need to get a deal done sooner rather than later. You know what this can’t be? This can’t become what we saw last year. What did we see last year at this time? You know, the the time hop feature on on social media. Well, I I have that and I pay attention to it a little bit. And this time last year, we were talking about a Jamar Chase holdin. We were talking about how Jamar Chase wasn’t practicing. And at this point it was like, “Oh, well, there’s plenty of time.” Well, time runs out really quick during training camp. The days become weeks. We’re in week two of camp and suddenly you’re going to look up and we’re going to be preseason game number two, not number one. And then you’re going to look up and it’s going to be, “Oh, week one is here.” And it goes fast. It flies by. And the last thing I need is this stubborn Bengals front office. whether they’re right or not on things, they are stubborn and Trey Hendrickson who’s clearly dug in on certain issues when it comes to to his contract. I don’t need that impacting week one. And that’s why him showing up this week, even though I don’t think he has any intention to practice, I don’t believe he has any intention of stepping on the field with that number 91 jersey. Instead, I expect to see him in a ball cap. I expect it to to look eerily similar to what Jamar Chase did last year, which is holding in, not holding out. I think that it’s still a step in the right direction when it comes to a long-term deal for both sides. One, Trey is going to be in the news more. He’s going to be around. It is going to be harder to ignore what is a huge situation. This is the NFL sack leader. 17 and a half sacks in each of the past two years. Led the NFL in sacks last year, first time allp pro last year. He’s playing at an extremely high level even though he just turned 30 years old. Has showed no signs of slowing down. If anything, you could argue he’s in the middle of his prime years based on production. And so the Bengals need him. He needs the Bengals. They aren’t going to trade him. He’s going nowhere. And so both sides need to find a way to compromise. And I think this is the next step towards that. Will it be this week? I’m not sure. I doubt it. I think it might take a little bit, but it is a a step in the right direction. And Trey Hendrickson being on the practice field would certainly be nice. We’ll see if that part actually happens. But uh him literally physically standing on the practice field. But regardless, being in Bengals facilities at at team facilities and around players and coaches, I do think it’s going to matter and it’s a a positive for all involved. Yeah. And look, maybe whether it’s a a gesture in good faith or it’s a blink first moment, I suppose, however you want to look at it. Regardless, my question, and maybe it’s rhetorical, maybe you have some thoughts on this, James, why not begin with the hold in? Why did we resort to the hold in versus just coming out the gate with that? Similar to what Jamar did. Did Jamar get paid? No. I mean, eventually, yes, but throughout this process during this training camp. No, the holding didn’t work. And and this is why it’s it’s great that you bring this up because this is exactly why the Bengals need to have some urgency here and need to get this done, however it gets done. And and we could get into the particulars and all those things, but it’s like, oh well, what leverage does does Trey have? And it’s pretty simple. The Bengals should have some urgency to get this done because you could make a pretty good argument that the reason they didn’t make the playoffs last year, the reason they didn’t have a real shot at winning a Super Bowl is because they got stubborn with Jamar Chase, the best receiver on the planet. And they didn’t want to pay him what he was looking for then. And if they had done that, then he wouldn’t have been distracted week one. He wouldn’t have been distracted week two and wanted to just throw pick up Arrowhead Stadium and throw it. And and you saw his outburst. He clearly was not mentally where he needed to be at the start of the season. He’s admitted that. We could see that even if he didn’t admit that. And the Bengals have started 0 and2 in each of the past three years. 0 and2. I’ve I wrote that today and I was like, my god, how in the world do you start 0 and2 three straight years? Well, they have. And the thing that you better not do is start 0 and2 again this year. And so there’s where the urgency comes in is not letting this become a distraction. This was Trey’s probably his last real bargaining chip is all right, I’m going to show up and I’m going to be a distraction and I’m going to be someone that uh who knows, maybe he talks to the media, maybe he doesn’t. Obviously, we’ll cover it on Cincinnati Bengals Talk and Bengals Talk.com regardless, but it is the last card to play here to try to get this across to try to get it across the finish line. Hey, I’m here. I’m trying to be a good soldier. I obviously won the deal. I was the NFL sack leader. And the Bengals should say, “Yeah, you’re the NFL sack leader. You’re a big piece of what we need to be this season. And so let’s find a way to get it done because last year we messed around with Jamar Chase and clearly he’s the best receiver on the planet now and we shouldn’t have messed around with him because if we hadn’t we probably beat New England and and then like that’s how the Bengals front office is probably maybe they don’t feel that way or right I’m like wait a minute are you assuming the front office has learned their lesson here and and not to be a doomer about this but like I I I the theme of this training camp and and we’ll talk about training camp a little bit as we move along. But the theme has been sort of that sense of urgency. We got to we can’t have the slow starts. Can’t have the slow starts. Urgency and it’s it’s being shown on the field from everything that I’ve seen and everything a lot of people have reported. Is the front office feeling that urgency? Are they concerned about the O and2 start? Not to say that they aren’t, but when it comes to these contract negotiations, is it kind of resuming familiar habits? I I hope not. I I really do. I hope not. And honestly, I go back to what I heard in January. And what I heard in January was they’re going to get Jamar, T, and Trey done. And of the three, I did think Trey would take the longest. I I didn’t necessarily study the defensive end market and realize how much it was going to explode. It it at that time, you know, it was January and you’re you’re decompressing from the season and kind of looking at things. But I I did think all three would get done. And I do believe that the front office had that in mind in January. That that was part of their plan. And obviously it’s been a grueling is how I would describe it negotiation between Trey Hendrickson and the Bengals. Maybe the Bengals don’t feel that way. I I I don’t know exactly how they feel. But you cannot, and I hinted at it last week on the show, you cannot let this get in the way of any kind of start. This better not be a topic on September 3rd. September. Yeah. September 3rd would be the Wednesday before that September 7th game. And and and so it just it can’t be like I don’t want to be sitting there asking Joe, hey, how much does the locker room focused on on a Trey Hendrickson extension or not? You know, like that’s that would just be brutal. And so they need to find a way to get this done over the next few weeks. Doesn’t need to be this week, but there does need to be some urgency here. And that is Trey’s leverage. And that’s the card he’s playing right now. You could just tell it 50,000 foot view. What other leverage does he have? He wants to play. He wants to be in Cincinnati. They want him here. And so the holdup is guaranteed money. That’s what everyone’s reporting. Fine. Well, how do you how do you reach a compromise? How do you find common ground to where you both agree? We’ll see if it happens or when it happens. Will it will it happen, do you think, before the month of September? Let’s do that. As we record this, we’re we’re reaching the end of July, Andrew. Do you think it will happen before September 1st? Yes, sir. Well, let’s see. When’s the least convenient time they could announce it? It probably would be September from where from our vantage point, but I I’ve maintained that they would get this thing done. I I could see it going either way. I’m going to lean towards them getting this done during the month of August, but I would not be shocked if this goes into September. I would be surprised if it went into week one, of course. But man, this just feels like it’s never going to end. So, why not go into September a bit? Yeah, I I’m com I think it’ll get done sooner. And I think it’ll get done sooner because let’s just say they get close on guaranteed money. We’ll just give him a few more million in signing bonus. Like, bump that up just a little bit more and to where it’s just bonus money and he gets it right away. I they have so much cap space. They have so much flexibility and so much bandwidth. James, they knocked out two of the three. Sheamar’s on the field. Look at us. Why not? Let’s go. You know, speaking of Shamar Stewart, I talked with a Bengals veteran this week about Shamar Stewart, the Bengals first round pick, and about Trey Hendrickson, and what he told me is really intriguing, especially when you think about Trey being around Shamar now that he’s ending his hold out. We’ll get to that coming up next. It’s like 10 and a half minutes or so, Andrew. Yeah, something like that. I was kind of keeping an eye on too. Hey everybody, we just recorded a segment. We’re going to be shipping this off to FanDuel Sports Network. I will be late tonight. Doesn’t matter. But my point is that we continue to record these segments. We are seeing your questions. We are seeing your comments. We are going to do Q&A. We’re going to interact. So, don’t think that you’re just shouting into a void. Some of you probably are based on some of these comments I’m seeing. But regardless, we are live. Appreciate you joining us as we talk about Trey and Training Camp. Yeah. Uh, so I only had a silver marker midsegment. Yeah. And I was writing like the times down and I like wrote down segment one second. It’s really really hard to read. Yeah, I see. I I I got a pen now. No, I just wanted wanted to share that. I thought it was big. Look at Look at you. Look at you with your silver marker like ready to sign autographs for people. You got some people bringing helmets to you. I don’t know why I have a silver marker to be honest with you. Like maybe it was for a book, but I usually use a pen for the books. Yeah, you can get your Bengals book. It’s called End of the Jungle. Cincinnati Bengalsbook.com, by the way. Oh, this one. Yeah, I know. I need I need to put it back in my background. I don’t have it in my background. I just took it out of mine. It was Are you uh Andrew, are you for sure coming Saturday? Uh yeah. Okay, cool. Do you want to be cryptic about it or do you want to tell No, I’m gonna tell people about it, but I wanted to make sure. Yeah, while we’re on break, you want to talk about it real quick? Yeah, absolutely. Let me uh let me get the overlay here. I Oh, you’re gonna throw a graphic up. Oh, yeah. I didn’t even ask you for a graphic this time. How about that? Wow. I can’t wait for Andrew to critique this graphic. You know, he’s going to, too. He’s gonna be like, “Ah.” All right. So, Jake List goes in town. Obviously, if you watch Locked on Bengals or listen to Locked on Bengals, there you go. See, that’s all you got to do. Wow. And uh so Tuesday uh well today is Tuesday. Saturday, holy grail, August 2nd. That’ll be when the deal gets done. I’m gonna be so mad if that gets done during it would be a fun party. But anyway, join us for a meetup. Andrew will be there. Jake is going to be there. I’ll be there. We’ll talk Bengals. The Bengals are practicing before that. So if you’re going to the practice, if you’re not going to the practice, doesn’t matter. Boom. There’s the graphic again. All right. Uh, so we basically have like a 10 minutes left of show, ladies and gentlemen. Three segments. It’s going to be much quicker. It’ll move faster. And then we’ll uh dive into all of your questions when it comes to uh Trey and Shamar, Joe. Anything else? Um, this veteran thing though, I I can’t wait to get your reaction, Andrew, because I do think it’s it’s interesting, especially with Trey back or about to be back. Which veteran thing? What are you talking about? My tease. You don’t listen to me. Just open with it. We’ll roll with it. Hold on one second. Like y I’m I’m queuing up. I’m I’m putting little stars on some of these comments I’m seeing everyone. We will be addressing some of these. There’s a lot of good points here. I feel like we need to do a poll at some point, too. A lot of opinions. I feel like we could separate into maybe two or three possible answers regarding Trey Hendrickson’s situation, whether that’s predictions, thoughts. Maybe we’ll do that when we kind of wrap this recording session and and remain live to answer questions and take your comments as well. All right. I should stop uh responding to messages, huh? Oh, I thought you were signing things with your silver marker. I didn’t realize you were actually What? What? Did you zoom me out? Like, what happened there? I didn’t do anything. That was weird. I’m not trouble at all. I think you did zoom me out. All right. Oh, Nattyron, by the way, we are going to be talking about that. We do have a segment dedicated to the O line that’s coming up here. We’ll be recording it, but we will be interacting with comments and questions like that afterwards as well. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah. Lock them up. Ready to go. What are we going into Shamar Dline? Is that the plan or what are you thinking? Relax. Just look at the camera. I I’m looking at the rundown. Okay, go on. Welcome back to Enter the Jungle. He’s Andrew Fox Miller. I’m James Rupine and this segment is brought to you by Lakespur Marketing. Lakes Marketing will use their combined 100 plus years of experience to choose the marketing strategies, tools, and products that are right for your business. The proof is in their partners. Visit lakes marketing.com today. And Andrew, let’s dive into one. There’s been a lot of marketing going on when it comes to Bengals defensive ends. And you got Shamar Stewart and everything that went into that over the past few months. Well, not only is his hold out over, he’s signed. He’s practiced with the team multiple times. Flashed in practice number two with multiple pass breakups and honestly big, strong, physical, fast. Like, you can see how athletic he is. Uh, it’s interesting. We led the show with Trey Hendrickson and all the Trey Hendrickson news. To me, Shamar Stewart, and I remember saying this in April, is is a really good compliment to Trey Hendrickson. And we’ll be able to learn a lot from Trey. And I was talking to a Bengals veteran on the offensive side and he was like, “Man, I can’t wait for Trey to be able to work with Sheamar because Trey is so fundamentally sound. And Shamar can do a lot of the things Trey can do, but doesn’t have the the technique and the fundamental all the because he’s a rookie. He’s a 21-year-old. Trey Hendrickson has been there, done that for many, many years. And Shamar is also an athletic freak. Like Trey Hendrickson’s an uber good athlete. Shamar is an alien. And so there there were veterans just kind of gushing about the idea of both of those guys being on the field and Shamar being able to learn from Trey. Now that Trey has ended his hold out, even if he isn’t on the practice field practicing, Shamar Stewart’s going to not only be able to talk to him, but pick his brain on what he’s seeing on film. And and I I I do think Trey is gonna be able to help the Bengals first round pick in a big way. Yeah. And I’ve I I know Sheamar’s got a ways to go as far as his participation in training camp. I will be interested to see what Al Golden in particular decides to do with Shamar as training camp progresses. Is it lean in, learn a lot from Trey? Of course. But how much are they going to be moving him around? You know, it’s almost like the Dax Hill of the defensive line if we envision what we want out of him in the secondary. Uh I would physical freaks, by the way. So, I would be curious to see learn from an expert in one area, but how much could he expand beyond that all of a sudden he’s shift into the interior of the defensive line as needed? I mean, it it could be really interesting if Al Golden really deploys him for what he’s capable of. And of course, if he catches up and is ready for his rookie season in the way that we hope he would be. Yeah. I I think this is a big reason why you could buy the Shamar Stewart stock, why you’d say, “Oh, well, he’s going to be ready.” Like the the winning with power element of it, the the speed to power combo, the long AR, like all these little things that you use as a pass rusher. Well, Trey does those and he does them at a really really high level. Shamar can learn that. And and here’s the thing I like about Shamar because there’s been a lot of talk about the contract stuff and all that. throw that out. Football-wise, why I I I really like Shamar and how he’s going to compliment Trey, I think he’s got a level of nastiness that plays on the interior, like you mentioned, plays on the edge, and when you have Trey on one side, well, Trey’s going to get double teamed and he’s going to get a lot of attention. And so, that means Shamar gets one-on-one matchups. That means Shamar can can do a little bit of everything. Like, I think he’s going to be a big contributor this year. I know it was weird there for a few months, but if if Shamar Stewart stock is down because of the contract negotiations or whatever that I I’ll take that stock because I I do think that the Trey Hendricks and Shamar Stewart duo, even if Shamar doesn’t start, I think that’s going to matter this season. And we’re going to be talking about that combo 91 and 97 being being big for this Bengals defensive front. Yeah. meaningful snaps and that’s across the board when like I feel like there’s not even enough with all the attention from all this contract negotiation stuff like we we continue to have to remind ourselves like could this be a breakout year for a Miles Murphy imagine all of them panning out and Al Golden being able to rotate them in multiple spots and putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks which of course helps the secondary like it all I don’t know we need Trey we I don’t want to I don’t want to get ahead of ourselves we need Trey back but it seems like it’s heading trending in in that direction. And these young guys, it seems like Al Golden is finding new ways to get them out there in ways that we were begging for Louis Anarumo to do in years past. This segment was brought to you by Lakespur Marketing. Check out lakespurmarketing.com today to help market your business and get your name out there. Speaking of marketing, Joe Burrow, well, he doesn’t need he’s a marketing machine on his own. We’re going to talk about Joe Burrow and we’re going to discuss Bengals training camp. We’re going to get to more football, not just defensive ends. Let’s get to the franchise. We’ll do that coming up next. What’s up everyone? Welcome in. How How long was that, Andrew? You think? Six minutes. I missed the start time on that one. We’ll say six minutes. Uh so it’ll be a quick Joe and then a quick O line. I think you’re right. It’s about six minutes, I’m guessing. But what’s up everyone? We’re uh this is a live edition of End of the Jungle. We’re going to get to all of your questions. We’ll chat chat it up. But we’re filming this for FanDuel Sports Network and uh once it’s over in about six minutes of of actual showtime, then we’ll get to your questions as well and we’ll continue here on the YouTube channel. It’s fun doing these because you get to see the behind the scenes a little bit. Uh today we’ve been pretty buttoned up, Andrew. Got to be honest. Feel that way? Okay. You don’t think so? No, I think we’re all right. I’m not ill this week, which is nice. Oh, dude. Whatever. This is, you know, don’t start. Don’t start. You know, I uh especially for those that listen to Locked On or watch Locked On and then obviously watch us or listen to us. Jake reminded everyone 52 times that he got in super late Saturday night before the Sunday practice. Like everyone knew like the whole world knew, oh man, got in at this time. And then you a week later are still talking about how you battled through, you know, like no one needs to know. You just need to do it. It’s it’s a per No, no, no, no, no. I look back on it like I wish I wish I was I wish I could have done better and I was I was hindered and I don’t like that feeling. That’s all. Nah. I I just No one cares, man. I’m feeling awful today. I don’t know what to Anyways. All right. It’s just not the Joe Burrow mindset. We’re about to talk about Joe Burrow. All right. Ready? Ready. Do you want to remind everyone how you were feeling last week before? Okay. You don’t. All right. That’s right, Chris. Tell them. What did he say? I said, “Don’t take that, Andrew.” Oh, Welcome back into End of the Jungle. Andrew Fox Miller was feeling really bad last week, so he might have had a poor perform. All right, I’ll stop. You better write down with your silver autograph pen a new time. I didn’t start the time yet. Oh, okay. That was by design. All right. All right. All right. 28 is the start time, by the way. Pretty much. All right. Ready to go? Ready. Welcome back to End of the Jungle. He’s Andrew Fox Miller. I’m James and Bengals training camp is in week number two. They have the pads on. And Andrew, I got to be honest, when it comes to training camp standouts, I think it begins and it ends right now with number nine, Joe Burrow. I think he’s playing at a really, really high level. Not only has he not thrown an interception so far in training camp, I can’t really remember an interceptable pass. Pass that was batted up in the air and could have been caught, a pass that was nearly intercepted. There’s just there hasn’t been many, if any, of those. He’s playing at a really really high level and it’s still late July. You love to see it. Joey B off to a great start five practices in. Yeah. I mean it’s it’s apparent from what’s been reported by you by others. Bengals talk.com the footage that we’ve gone through. We put highlights out there on YouTube. It’s apparent Joe’s playing really well. I kind of feel like a little shout out as well. Not that they haven’t gotten it, but from where I’m sitting, we’ll just call it Al Golden. I feel like the defense coming into this train camp from what I remember this time last year, it feels there’s just a different energy to it and to be I I feel like we almost take it for granted against who these defensive players are going up against in these practices and all things considered without Trey Hendendrickson and for the most part without their first round draft pick of the year they’ve kind of held their own. Is it where Al Golden wants it to be? Is it where we as fans want it to be? No. But it’s still early and I like what I’m seeing so far. There’s a lot of promise. For sure. No, for sure. I think the theme, a huge theme of this camp has been the defense rallying, rebounding, bouncing back when Joe Bro throws haymaker after haymaker. And and that’s really happened multiple times where I’m waiting for this young defense to start pointing fingers or to get frustrated. And it’s gotten chippy, a little chippy, but nothing too crazy. and they rally in rebound and they’ve they’ve held their own which is a really really good sign especially the first red zone day Joe Burrow just picked them apart and then since then the defense has won their fair share in the red zone and kind of been dominant over the past couple of red zone periods even with Joe playing at the level that he’s playing at. It’s a pretty good sign for Joe, certainly a good sign for the Bengals defense. But what about the offensive line? It’s a concern. It’s a concern for you. It’s a concern for me. We’re going to discuss the Bengals offensive line coming up next. Let’s just roll in the next segments. I have thoughts on this and I know we don’t have a lot of time to cover it. This is going to be a short segment everyone. We got to record about two, three more minutes and then we’re going to go continue live. Take questions. James is going to be like, “Thanks for watching and then Jungle. I’m going to do this little move and we’re still live. So, don’t leave.” Yeah. Don’t leave. Don’t leave us. Don’t leave. Don’t go. Even though Andrew was sick last week. Please don’t go. Yeah. No. Well, that you’re never going to live that day. I was see I had some momentum there. Jumped in with whatever that was. No. Let’s go. Come on. I’m ready. One of the biggest questions of the off season is still a major question for the Cincinnati Bengals. Welcome back in to Enter the Jungle. He’s Andrew Fox Miller. I’m James Rupine. And the offensive line worries the offensive line concerns and the Bengals ability to protect Joe Burrow. Well, it’s a question mark, a big question mark with preseason game number one on August 7th. It’s quickly approaching. Andrew Lucas Patrick dealing with a calf injury. It appears missed multiple practices, which means Cody Ford is slated to be the starting rank guard certainly for preseason game number one and maybe for week number one. And that means that Dylan Fairchild is obviously pencled in as the starter at left guard. With those two guys at the guard spots, how confident are you feeling in this Bengals offensive line? I don’t love it, James. Look, O line was always a concern always. Like from where I’m s where I’m sitting over here these past five practices like right here. I’m not out at camp watching these players in real time like you are of course. So, like, sure, it’s it’s hard to really judge this O line without only they had one day of padded practice at the time of this recording, but we’re still looking at an O line where it’s it was Cody Ford versus Lucas Patrick at Reichgart. Lucas Patrick’s dayto-day, like you said, I don’t want to pretend to know how to run an NFL team. Like I still I still like to think I’m a logical human being that can recognize when it’s maybe time to pick up the phone and add some competition and depth at a position that shouldn’t cost you much and certainly won’t hurt your team as you prepare for the season. I felt this way months ago and now we’re dealing with this position being even shallower. Like even if it is dayto-day like call me crazy but it feels like this team can’t afford dayto-day at any guard position. Like it feels like this team is playing with fire and it’s really avoidable. That’s I’m annoyed. And Will Hernandez, by the way, the veteran guard who has a 70 plus pass blocking grade from Pro Football Focus in each of the past three years, was officially cleared this week. He suffered a torn ACL last year. Probably wouldn’t cost much. The point is there there are proven veterans out there and it is going to be interesting to see how long this goes. But that is a huge question. Like when when these national writers roll through at camp, I chat with some of them. And guess what they ask about? They don’t ask about Joe Burrow. They ask about the defense and they ask about the offensive line. And I get why. And we’ll see if the Bengals do make a move there. Obviously, we’re going to have you covered throughout training camp, throughout this season. Check us out on YouTube, the YouTube channel Cincinnati Bengals Talk, obviously weekly here on FanDuel Sports Network. But that’s going to do it for Andrew Fox Miller. I’m James Orin. Thank you so much for listening and watching. Enter the jungle. We’re still here. We’re not going anywhere. All right. Yeah. Let’s Let’s go. Let’s keep going. This is not a hot mic. We are still live. Can I change my t-shirt? No. I don’t care. I got a I got a message after our last one that was like, “You got your your my guy’s mic’s hot while you’re I was like, no, we’re still live.” Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That’s funny. All right, let’s uh 1500 plus of you are in here right now. Let’s uh let’s answer your questions, your comments, ha have have some good fun Bengals conversation. Let’s see here. There’s so much to go through. Um yeah, so let’s start with Is this us? Uh I like this one. Oh, it is nice. How shocked would you two be if Trey signed this week? Shocked. Um I mean it’s it’s a non-zero chance. I get that. But still. Yeah. Nothing shocks me like because it’s been so weird and like everything that’s gone on like it wouldn’t shock me like if he said it would not shock me. Now do I expect that to happen? No. Could it? Yeah. I mean, if the Bengals pivot a little bit, if they’re like, “All right, he’s coming in. Let’s just get him on the field. It’s really not the Bengal way, but like what if, not saying this is going to happen, but what if Zack goes upstairs and is like, “Hey man, Mike, we need to start fast. It’s been a whole theme. Trey’s back. I don’t want it to be a distraction. Can we can we push for this and get it done?” Like, I don’t think it’s a zero chance. I also think Mike would say yes, we’re going to get it done. I’m not going to rush it here because they probably feel like he said it last week. We think something’s going to get done. Mike Brown never talks like that. He never said that about Jamar. They wanted to get something done with Jamar. He was never like, I think it’s going to get done. We’re going to try to get something done with Jamar is basically how he phrased it. With Trey last week, he was like, I think it’s going to get done. Just different tone for sure. And maybe things have changed since then, but different tone. Let’s see. We’ve got water is leaking all over me. I like this one, too. James, in regard to preseason playing time, how much more do we really believe he, as in Zack Taylor, I assume, is going to put Burrow and crew out there. There is still a fine line between risk and reward. My water’s leaking all over me. Answer this first and then I will. I mean, Zach said it. I don’t think he would have said it if he didn’t mean it. I think he intends on it. Now whether the outcome is ultimately what happens, we don’t know how long he’ll play, but I think James, you even mentioned at one point, I’m going to paraphrase, but it was you wouldn’t be surprised if he put him out there for like close to a quarter, a quarter. Was that floated out there? Oh, I I think he plays like a full game of reps in the first two games. I think he might play the first half and then the first half again. So like a full game total. Oh. Oh, okay. Yeah, he better not play the full game. But he might play a half against Philly. Like the traditionally back when it was four preseason games, you would do a quarter then a half and like three quarters and then that fourth game you really wouldn’t play much. You’re down to three preseason games. He shouldn’t play him in the third preseason game. So get all your work in in that first and second preseason game. So honestly playing him a half and then another half. I could see that. But, and here’s where I’ve been on this all off seasonason. I’m going to continue to be here. And I would still say this to Joe, even though he’s he wants to go out there, practice, practice in the preseason so he can be ready for week one, the risk is still way worse than the reward. Like, it’s so much worse than the reward. And I get it, like especially with the way Joe has been, but to me, it’s always been a health thing as much as anything. It always has. And so fine, get him some live reps. Okay, with that, but especially, we were just talking about the offensive line. Like, let’s just say, let’s just say Lucas Patrick is inactive next Thursday. Mhm. And then Cody Ford gets nicked up. So then it’s like Cordell Wolson at right guard, Dylan Fairchild at left guard. Like, all right. Like, do you want to do that in a game that doesn’t matter? I don’t know that I want to do it again with any if all those people healthy and playing. So, so like there’s a balance there. And that’s why if I’m the Bengals, the key here is having a plan that gets Joe the looks that he wants, right, in as few snaps as possible. That That’s the bottom line, honestly. And so, how do you do that? I don’t want to play him two halves. I hope they don’t. I want it to be like 10 snaps and seven snaps and that’s it. And Joe would say, “Well, that’s not enough.” Fine. Well, what what’s the minimum number of snaps where he can get all the looks that he wants and and all the things that he wants to see? Get that out of his system. That’s what they they need to find because Joe is different. Like, and this is just styles, but like Tom Brady used to play in the preseason. We play in the preseason a lot. He never got hit. And it’s because he’s not going to extend the play. He’s just that’s it. He’s either going to know what it is and read it and go and throw it or it’s not there and he’ll throw it away. Like it was very cut and dry. With Joe, I see it in on the training camp field. He’ll extend plays and you should in camp because they’re not going to hit you. But still, I don’t think you really turn that off. And so getting him out there in the preseason, I would limit it. I would be super cautious. And I know everyone wants to start fast. You know what? I don’t really give a damn about winning preseason games or not. And I know no one does either. They just want to win week one. I’d give Joe like 20 snaps total in the preseason. That’s That’s what I would do. I I think I think he’s going to get more, but that’s what I would do. So there you go. That was a really See a number of comments saying we’re burying the lead. Is Trey practicing without a new contract? No. No. Indications are that and I know we it was what we started this entire live with, of course. So, let’s revisit it for a moment. Mhm. It’s reported that he is reporting to camp tomorrow, Wednesday, the time of this recording would be tomorrow. But, think Jamar, we kind of talked a little bit about Think Jamar last training camp. He’ll be I just put a link into the chat in the YouTube chat uh with my article on Trey just just so you know, don’t go anywhere. Stay right here. Right. Um but here’s what I think Trey is doing. I think Trey is showing up. I think Trey is going to hold in, which means he’s not going to practice. Could be on the practice field. Maybe he’s not. Maybe he doesn’t come out for practice, but but he’s still holding in. I don’t know how it’s going to go exactly. I think that’s the plan as of now. I also think history tells us that who knows, maybe he does end up practicing. I don’t think that’s the plan as of now, though, for him to practice without a new deal. And so, until I see him practice without a new deal, I think that’s it. And I also think this is kind of the last card for his camp to play to try to push this across the finish line. I do think they’ve had some meaningful uh negotiations. I talked to someone yesterday that said, “Yeah, they’re they’re in that north of 35 million per year, which was interesting. I don’t know if that’s true. That’s not from Trey’s camp and that’s not from the Bengals. But like if that’s there then it’s like okay well I’d be shocked if they’re there and they can’t find common ground. Put it that way on a multi-year deal assuming the Bengals are there. So we’ll see. But I I do think it feels like something’s trending in the right direction even if it isn’t as rosy and positive as some because that sher report yesterday where was like oh they’re 6 to 10 million away in guaranteed dollars. If you really listen to like what he said on McAfee, he didn’t say it like that. He was like they’re like six, seven, eight, nine, ten multiple millions in guaranteed dollars. Like he’s just kind of throwing out numbers there because it’s tough to know exactly what it would take to get it done. I I described it for some and I’ll describe it. I don’t think they’re in the red zone yet, but I think they’re on the right side of the 50. And so could they strike quick? Well, yeah. Joe Burrow’s the quarterback. So, I I I I wonder what Joe says. Joe’s supposed to speak on uh on Wednesday. I wonder what he’s gonna say after practice because obviously Trey Hendrickson is is going to be a topic. Matty says, “I’d love you guys to start doing some polls. That would be awesome.” I’m working on one right now. What do you think of this, James? Your prediction. When does Trey get a new deal? During training camp, after camp, but before week one, after the start of week one, or not happening? Is that a good four option? Sure. All right. Poll’s going up right now in the chat. Let’s see what everybody has to say about that. There we go. I think most people will say during camp. That’s my guess. Don’t influence. Don’t influence and sway voting. No, I I think that’s what people are going to say. I’m not saying I know I know what you said. Yeah. Yep. Yep. Yep. So, there’s that. All right. Um, yeah. I By the way, it’s kind of ironic, but uh part of the reason why Trey isn’t done right now is guaranteed money. Everyone knows that by now if you’re following this. If they had just pushed to get Trey done much sooner like pret and prejar, not only would the defensive end market have been much less, but there would have been no precedent of giving anyone not named Joe Burrow guaranteed money past year one. And so a lot of his like wanting guaranteed money like it it wouldn’t it’d be like well we don’t give anyone guaranteed money after year one Trey would have been way easier. Everything would have been easier. Everything would have been smoother. Everything. So, uh, the irony is, yeah, they paid they paid T and T’s really the one. Like, even Jamar, you could say the exception, but you give T some guarantees in year two and it’s like, all right, well, now Trey’s definitely going to want those led the NFL in sacks, all pro. Sean asks, will Fant, as in Noah Fant, previously the Seattle Seahawks, will he be a Bengal? I hope so. I hope so. He would make them better, man. He would make them better. He could do some of the Eric All stuff. He gives them another weapon, another piece to use. And I I just I’m such a a believer in when you’re in these really really tight games and maybe they’re playoff games or maybe they’re AFC North games or or games with playoff seating on the line, having that extra guy, you never know when that’s going to pay off in in a guy who can make that play in that moment. And losing Eric All for the season is huge. Really stinks for him. He’s such a good player and was going to be and it hopefully he’s still going to be a really good player. He’s in good spirits. I talked to him the other day. He uh he had surgery in April. So, I’d be surprised if we see him this season, but hopefully next year. But Noah Fant would be someone that would give them when you think about their tight end room. It would be Mike Cassiki, Noah Fant, Drew Sample, not necessarily in this order, and Cam Grandandy. I think those would be the four tight ends that would make the team. That’s pretty darn good. You got two like real blockers. You got a guy in Fant who can line up in line, but is a really good pass catcher, not a great blocker, but can line up in line with the offensive line, lining up in. And then Mike Cassiki, who’s like a big slot receiver, who is just a freak. And yeah, that’s that’s a pretty good quartet of tight ends. and that’s one of their weaker position groups, let’s be honest. So, adding Fant would be big. I uh couple questions about the secondary. I guess I’ll go with this one here. Sure. I’ll I’ll direct this to you, of course, James, you’re there. Uh on the field during practices question, how how are safeties looking in training camp? How’s Gino Tyson Jordan Battle? Who’s most impressive as of five practices now in training camp? I think One, I’ve been impressed with all of them. I I think Tyson can really play on defense. I’ve been bullish on Tyson Anderson. Obviously, he’s their third safety. Clearly third behind Jordan Battle, behind Gino Stone. But I like what I’ve seen from Battle the other day. I I tweeted this clip. He’s guarding Mike Cassiki, and it’s hilarious because Mike didn’t have a chance to catch it. It was an uncatchable ball. but talking so much trash afterwards. And Mike told him to shut up. And it’s just it’s really good energy. Like I I love that. I love that competitive energy that this young secondary is bringing, that attitude that they’re bringing. And all of the guys are doing it. For example, Tyson Anderson and Germaine Burton. They they’ve been going at it a little bit. And Tyson was able to bring uh Burton down before uh getting a first down. It was like third and three drill and Burton talk some trash afterward and Tyson just holds up his fist for fourth down. That happened a day after Germaine Burton cut a touchdown in the uh in a red zone period on Tyson. Tyson was scraping at the ball trying to get the ball out of Germaine’s hands. Germaine threw it at Tyson afterward and I was like, “Uh oh, here we go.” It didn’t happen. But that’s some of the chippiness and and I think that that’s good because if you’re a young unproven defense, well, you should have a chip on your shoulder. And I’ve been very critical of Gino Stone. I’m just going to go on through each of these guys. Been very critical of Gino Stone this off season, but it does feel a little different to this point. We’ll see. I’m not saying, you know, buy all the Gino Stone stock, but it does feel different. And I do like what I’ve seen from him and I do like how he’s carrying himself and it just feels like like he’s he’s going to be better this year. And maybe it’s just as simple as the the defense and and how they’re using him. But regardless, I uh I like what I’ve seen from him as well. So the safeties I would have added there, but so far so good. I think they’ve they’ve looked they’ve looked the part and and done what you would expect a good safety room to do up to this point. I’ve seen a number of questions regarding running backs high level. How are running backs looking in camp? But more specifically, we also have a question here from the same Dominic here of how’s Taj Brooks looking in practice. The clips that I’ve seen, by the way, James, with Brooks, um, he runs hard. I mean, it’s hard to tell because a lot of what I’ve seen, they weren’t really in pads, and we have very limited footage, at least from where I’m sitting, of players that were in pads from the other day. So, you tell us. Well, with Chase Brown, I think he just looks slow. Um, I was about to correct you and that was about to get me in trouble talking about. No, no. I I uh No. I I think it is funny though. You watch Chase Brown and then you watch SamJ Per and they’re just different backs and it looks like SamJ is just slow and it’s because Chase Brown’s so fast and so dynamic and so explosive. I I think Taj Brooks is going to end up being the second best runner on the team. He’s just short, stout, powerful, and uh at the same time, if he doesn’t pick up the pass protection stuff, well, then it’s going to be some AJ Pron, and we don’t know yet. With rookie backs, you’re going to have to get him out there in preseason, and we’ll see. But that’s the beauty of having a SamJ Pine. He can do all that stuff. He can catch out of the back field. He can be a reliable patch protector. he can get you what’s there from a running standpoint. So, I feel good about the running back room. I really do. And hopefully Zach Moss can come back. I’m higher on him than a lot of people come back from that serious neck injury. This quartet of guys is better. All of them when healthy are better than as a as as a group than one through four than they had last year after RB2. So all four guys are better than Trayvon Williams for my money. And people are going to say, “Oh, well that’s a low bar.” Fine. But you’re saying RB4 is better than RB3 last year. RB3 is much better than RB3 last year. I I I think that matters. RB2 is probably going to be better than RB2 was last year with with Moss. So, it’s uh it’s a good place to be. And I I like Taj Brooks. I like the room in general. And obviously, how can you not like Chase Brown? It feels like he’s going to explode. I mean, we had that Andre Yosvasha interview, which I ended up having to do twice. Andre is the man and and hung around and did it. We should probably share the the un uh the unaired clip at some point because he’s just raving about Chase Brown and what he believes. I mean, he thinks Chase Brown could be like a a legit slot receiver with how good he’s becoming as a route runner, which is so dangerous. You got Dan Pitcher comparing him to Austin Eckler. Like, man, I I think he’s in store for a huge huge year, assuming the Bengals guard spots hold up. The comments are flooded right now with people debating between Al Golden, Louis, I don’t even know where to begin, but let let’s go with this. It sums it up, I suppose. How big is the Golden the Al Golden effect? Can you see a big difference in the defense? I’m seeing people saying that maybe there Luan Rumo had had Kansas City’s number. Maybe they made a mistake getting rid of Lou because, you know, he was this sort of X factor and stopping the Chiefs offense. I It’s It’s all over the place. But let’s start with our thoughts on Al Golden. Five practices into training camp. He’s You definitely notice. You notice because the commuter everybody’s on the same page. I think that’s why they haven’t blinked when Joe carves them up some and there isn’t fingerpointing and stuff like that. It’s because they’re all on the same page. They’re acting as a unit. They’re operating as a unit. The communication is there and and so I I like what I’ve seen. I think it’s buttoned up. It’s professional and and they’re on the same page. And that alone is something that you couldn’t have said last year for most of the year about the defense really until December after that Steelers loss when they just started to play a bit freer, more simplistic was the thing that a lot of people uh said. And it’s like, well Lou, why didn’t you do this sooner? I don’t know why you didn’t do it sooner. I also think Lou is a good defensive coordinator. I’m not going to crap all over Lou because it didn’t work out at the end. It didn’t work out. Fine. It’s it’s tough and it’s really really hard. I I think the thing in general with pretty much any profession, it’s one thing to get really good and be good. It’s another thing to be really good and stay good and and figure it out and figure it out in the draft and figure it out from a scheme perspective and figure it out with your roster and figure it out and they lost some guys and then it wasn’t the right right talent is what Lou would say. And what the Bengals are saying is, “Yeah, these guys are talented. You weren’t the right guy to put them in the the position to win.” And that’s it. And so we’ll see. But so far so good on Al Golden. I I think he’s a good coach. I I I think he just he carries himself like a head coach. Obviously, he was the head coach in multiple college stops. Wouldn’t shock me at all if he has this defense playing at a much better level just because they’re going to be buttoned up on the same page and they do have talent. And I do think they have talent even though it might not be superstar flashy talent that everyone’s aware of. Joe Goodberry in the chat trade day. He says is Joe who is is is this is this Joe character to the lockdown event? Slow Joe. No, he’s not. He’s too slow. He runs a 5840. I’m seeing a lot of people. By the way, I’m just going to be transparent here. I’m seeing so many comments. Oh my god. Trey signed a deal. This is clickbait. Blah blah blah. You realize that the title of this video was like training camp storyline standout players. And then the Trey News hit and I put the facts in like we have to talk about this. He’s not holding out. What am I supposed to put asterisk like all he’s actually holding in here are the And what am I going to copy paste the entire article in a YouTube title? We’re live. We’re talking about it. It’s not a big I mean you should be read up on it by now. the fact that he’s returning to practice. He’s just going to be around. What is this? Is Joe faking that he’s giving super chats? I don’t know what No, he runs a 58840. Oh, he’s he’s talking about a 40. I was like, what is this weirdness? Oh, 588. That might be He might not run sub six anymore. Just saying. Andrew, you definitely don’t. I bet you run a 688. 688 is probably about right. I I Yeah, I don’t know why. I don’t care because you want me to care. I don’t know why people would think that it’s it’s B. I mean, if Trey signs a deal, it’ll be very clear that we’re like, “Hey, a deal done deal.” Like, it’ll be very obvious. Uh I I do think it’s going to happen at some point. I do. And the Bengals don’t want to trade Trey. They want him here and he wants to be here. So, like that alone is starting at a good point in in a point where it should get done. Hopefully, it does. I gota I just got to call this out just for a moment. Payday I’m assuming you’re talking about what Chiefs guy Cole of the How about those Chiefs? If that’s who you’re talking about, I actually am on pretty good terms with him. I we we we we talk a lot about like this platform YouTube. So, it’s just funny that that was mentioned. Yeah, for you, you nerd. All right. Uh yeah, Jordan Moore has actually been standing out. I think he’s he’s wide receiver seven, I would say, for my money right now. I think they keep six. So, he’s going to have to force his way and uh we’ll see if he does. But, yeah, Isaiah Williams, Charlie Jones, they’ve both made plays on offense. I I think those guys pretty much getting into that lock range. Obviously, you have the the big three with Jamar T. Andre, and then Germaine Burton is going to make the team as well. I think he’ll be wide receiver four. And and I’m sure are there questions to expand upon that. I just felt like you were already talking where do you see Yosha Burton as three? They said I’m not even consumed with that question. Is that weird? Like because it’s not a question. I was I feel like last off season. Yeah, it’s not a question. Andre is wide receiver three and and and so there’s no battle there. Now the coaches may say, “Oh, well, there’s a battle.” I’m telling you, there’s no battle there. It’s it’s Burton battling to get on the field and get snaps. And the good news is is he’s looked good. He’s looked good. He’s looked the part. He’s he’s made plays head down, grinding, working hard by all accounts, doing all of those things. And by the way, if he does all of those things, he’s talented enough to play, but he’s not passing up. Andre Andre is a guy who can play inside, play outside, can read the defense at the the slot spot, knows exactly where to go, has a really good rapport with Joe, has that trust, has 10 touchdowns in two years. Like, he’s just so far ahead. He’s bigger, faster, stronger than he was last year. so far ahead of Germaine that it’s there’s no battle between those two guys, but Germaine can push for snaps and and that’s what you in an ideal world would want because if you can get Germaine on the field, it’s just another guy for opposing defensive coordinators to have to worry about, especially as a deep threat. By the way, Betsy, appreciate the super chats. I see them. Yes, thank you, Betsy. You’re the best. So, we have that those questions there. I was going to point out, this is just out there, but I do know what they’re referring to. These pop-up stools that they’re using at training camp. By the way, I technically have been on this team before James ever has. I actually at the Logan Wilson softball, Jay Morrison had an extra one of those stools and he just popped that thing out. I sat on that and filmed some of the footage, actual footage we used. I hope that bothers you. Do you just want me to make fun of you always? Like, stool team six. Like I didn’t know it was called that. It was just me and Jay Morrison hanging out. There’s only one person, Laurel, who covers the Bengals for Dayton Daily News. She is dealing with an injury right now. So, she joined the stool brigade. She’s the only one. I’ve never accepted Jay and I’ve never accepted Paul. And they’ve done it for years. They’ve done it for I politely decline your your offering me a seat, sir. No. J Morrison, do not hand me this collapsible stool. I don’t want to be part of your club. I didn’t know he I didn’t know he had an extra one, but they don’t bring extras. All he had all these people regardless. Yeah, they’ve gotten all these people to buy them. Practice isn’t that long. All right, it is not that bad. You bailed because the heat the other day. I’m not going to make fun of you for that. Uh but you you can stand. I think it’s good to stand. I think it’s important to stand and uh it builds character. If I was anyways, no I I got you on a tear with it, but Well, yeah, it’s ridiculous. I’m actually sitting on a collapsible soul right now. James, no. No, you’re not. All right, let’s see. Joe is running worst case 47. Yeah, with a jetpack on. Where are you seeing that? With a jetpack. Yeah, if he had a jet literally he would have to get a a power up from Mario Brothers that is a jetpack and then maybe he would get to a 47. Get it. Do people know how fast a 47 is? No one in this chat probably runs a 47. There’s 1500 people in here right now. 47. Good god. Anyways, 47. Like Joe Burrow runs a 47. Let’s see here. Don’t let James do you. Wait till James gets a back injury for not using the stool. That’s so funny from standing. I I’m seeing a lot of commentary about the O line right now. So I’m closer to being on the roster than I am to having a back injury from standing in the sun. Good god. Take it easy. My goodness. I’m You know who doesn’t have a Jeff Hobson doesn’t have a stool. Jeff Hobson’s out there. What position has Jaylen Rivers played? He has taken any first string snaps. Has he taken any first string snaps? Uh, no, he has not taken any first string snaps. He’s not going to. He’s playing Well, at least you hope he’s not going to. He’s playing tackle and so he’s played both tackle spots, playing them pretty well. And and I think they and this is typical for rookies. They want to get him comfortable at tackle before they they start to move him around and put him at guard. There’s a lot to learn at guard. I’m not sure they’re going to do that. They need him to be OT3. They need him to be that swing tackle that can back up both spots, especially if Cody Ford is freaking starting. I mean, my god, it’s uh so yeah, I I I would expect him to continue to work at tackle for now. Even though on draft day, I was like, “Oh, give him a shot at right guard. Give him a shot.” I still would, but uh it doesn’t doesn’t sound like that’s in their immediate plans. What do you give percentage chance the Bengals start two rookies at each guard position? Rivers on one side, Fairchild on the opposite, but let’s just stick with rookies. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, it would be those two. Uh 5%. It’s really low. Yeah. I mean, it would it would probably take multiple injuries for them to try Jaylen at right guard at this point. Maybe not. Maybe argue Matt Lee maybe if you’re going to I mean, I know I know rookies, but Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Uh and you could argue Matt Lee, but it doesn’t sound like that’s the plan either. I asked Dan Pitcher that last week and he was like, “Yeah, we kind of view Matt as a center.” It’s like, “Oh, like I do too. I think he’s a good center, but man, Matt Lee, Rivers, like throwing those guys at guard just to see what sticks might be better than throwing the these veteran guys that are solid backups at guard and seeing if they stick. I don’t know. Who am I? Who am I?” Oh, by the way, we had the poll sitting out there. I probably should have ended that. Actually, I’ll end it now, but it is 58%. Andrew must really Sorry. Andrew must really want me to uh ask that first question. What Bengals media run 40s to decide who gets first question with Trey? I who would come who would come close? I I want it just because like on the off chance that somebody like seriously who Oh my god. Like like what if like Ben Baby beat you? You know what I mean? And like, oh my god, it would be I have to film it regardless. Ben wouldn’t beat me if I was carrying Ben. I I I like when the I like when the chat starts like correct like like Dwayne here isn’t even saying that he could beat the race. He’s saying I he ran a 44. Sure. Not now. He said ran past tense. I said right now. But that’s the point. This is so benign and you’re going to take it personally like he’s attacking you just by saying I ran a 44. Oh, but like 44 is like top 2% on the planet probably. So like I ran like Okay. Well, what do you run now? And maybe he does. Maybe he runs a 47 now, but probably not because that’s really really fast. Oh my god. All right, get to your poll and then we’re going to get out of here. Uh the poll I already closed, but we have 57% say that Trey would get a new deal done during camp. After camp, but before week one begins, we’d be at 30% on the votes. Not happening, says 6%. And then lastly, after the start of week one and beyond, 4% say Trey will potentially get a deal done or not. I like 361 votes. That’s a small fraction. YouTube Trags running with the power of the banana. Hey, he’s not going to cramp up now. Not going to cramp up. There’s a chance. Mike Connley Jr. Heard wrong. All right. Mike Connley. You can’t be that Mike Connley, huh? The Mike Connley, the old reliable in Minnesota. Still still getting buckets at his age. Uh T500 yards this year. I would probably take the the slight under, but if he stays healthy, it’ll be close. I’m just hammering through a bunch of them. Yeah, you’re good. Mike Hilton. I I I love him in Miami. I I think that uh I think he’s going to fit well there. He’s not going to have to do uh all the slot stuff and they can use him as a a physical presence. They needed to get more physical. They’re uh they’re known as a soft team in NFL circles. So, there we go. Uh let’s see here. Who are the starting safeties right now? Uh well, it’s going to be Gino Stone and Jordan Battle barring any injury. Uh this is Andrew. He ran a 51 minute quarter mile in college 50 years ago. I don’t know. Ran like, is that the right verb you should be using? I I don’t I I don’t know. I think it was either hilarious or There we go, Dwayne. All right. I never said in your prime. I never said in your prime. I appreciate you watching and I believe you. Even though if there’s no video of you running a 44, it’s really hard to believe that. Just saying. Just Just saying. Even though I do believe you. I just said I do. Look at this. You’re going to get me in trouble, Andrew. My competitiveness. I know. No, I run a 74. See that? That’s Andrew’s time right there in most of the media. Like the overunder for Bengals M would be at like seven. We’re talking about them sitting on stools at practice and we’re talking about 40 yard dash times. Mhm. Tra’s gonna have to eat a lot of bananas. Trags does not have a stool, by the way. Shout out to him. Bummer, Mike. I thought you would have. All right, let’s see. All right, last thing. We’ll end on this one. How is the linebacker group looking? I’m really excited about the linebackers. I really am. And I I didn’t love the Demetrius Knight pick because obviously Tate Ratage was still there or was there and I still would go with Tate Ratlage and I think it made sense. But man, if you look at it, Logan Wilson, I think he’s healthy. I think he’s feeling good. I’ve had a couple conversations with him over the past couple of weeks. And then Demetrius Knight gives them a different element. they’re going to put him at edge a little bit at times and he can be physical, but at the same time he compliments or or Burks compliments what he does and vice versa. And then you have Barrett Carter who can do a little bit of everything as well and cover and be athletic. So you’re talking about four guys that you feel really good about. I think they’re going to rotate them a decent amount. Obviously Logan’s going to be out there the whole time, but but behind him they have a good trio. And so yeah, I like the linebackers. I’m excited to uh to see how they perform and how they develop because obviously we’re talking about two young guys in Orin Burks. All right. The footage that you’ve sent me, I’ve seen a lot of Demetrius Knight moving around. Yeah. No, he does. Uh oh. How many you got, Luke? We’ll end with this. How many you got, Luke? Stop bringing this out of James, everybody. We’re We’re Also, thank you, Betsy. Thanks again. Yearly donation. I love it. Yeah, I’m going to I’m going to use it at the locked on event to I’m going to I’m going to use it for uh I’m going to use it on speed while James and Jake have their their their throne or whatever they’re going to be sitting on and everything just handed to them. I’m going to be using Betsy’s donation to have my I’m gonna use it I’m going to use it for you to get some speed training. Oh, speed training. 1. If I was Zach. I’d be like listen. My job could be on the line if we don’t play well this year. Set me up for success. Let me have all my guys and do this thing right. Win like we should. I’d push hard for Trey right now if I’m Zach. Cuz if year goes bad I bet he’s gone. Give him his fair shot this year.

  2. Unfortunately Zac isn’t going no where he’s 5-2 in the playoffs and has a Super Bowl and 2 AFCCG appearances! Compared to Marvin Lewis who went to the offs a lot but didn’t win he was there for 10 plus years Zac had earned at least 13 years unfortunately so we just gotta Hope a tiger can change their stripes

  3. Trey is trying to get more local media attention. That’s all this is about. The local news narrative has meandered away from him and he thinks he can play some cards this way. I don’t like Bengals ownership, but I really, really don’t like the way players breach their contracts like this. Shows no class.

  4. Yes I know have to stay positive but starting off poorly is a now Zac Taylor trait hopfully I’m wrong but I’m getting a Marvin Lewis feeling of Taylor being the bengals coach

  5. If he participates, I bet he gets signed tomorrow, he said he didn't 'hold in' originally was because Trey would want to participate when the whistles started blowing. Has that changed? I don't think so. WHO DEY! Sign Trey

  6. It’s common sense to report. Get your $$ from current contract. After the years over owners are going to be less likely to sign him if he is labeled a troublemaker, I am not saying he doesn’t deserve a raise, but I’m saying being a sack leader is a very misleading stat. Trey is a great player, but he’s fighting a losing battle against the Bengals front office because they are an inept bunch of idiots. Bengals defense needs more than Trey Henderson to be successful, but he is a huge addition to making them at least respectable. I think they can win without him, but they’re more likely to win with him.

  7. Thank goodness, i'd figured he was going to sit out the whole season, if he still held out. but now he's going back to training which is good news. I hate having to see players like that, cause it shows how garbage the front office has been since they hired brown in the 90's.

  8. So we bashed the bengals front office for several months for what again???? Wish we could never hear about holdouts anymore as nfl fans. Waste of time debating where the player will play. They are pointless and nothing happens but the player getting a record breaking deal. Ready for the season.
