Las Vegas Raiders Just Reversed A Horrible Narrative

All right. There is a narrative out there about the Las Vegas Raiders right now. And sure, there’s good narratives. There’s good narratives about the new coaching staff, what they’re doing, the professionalism that they’re going to bring. Uh there’s hope for a turnaround, but there’s also another narrative out there that there’s no talent on the offense. There’s a narrative that sure, they got Gino Smith, but he doesn’t have nearly the talent he had in Seattle. What is that going to look like? They just reversed that and it is specifically one player in practice, but we are going to talk about a whole bunch of players. Not just that, but we’re going to talk about some ridiculously good injury news that’s going on with the Raiders right now as well. So, we’re going to get into all of that. But first, if you are new to this channel, my name’s Craig. Me and my buddy Chris started this a couple years back. We are Lions fans. Uh, but we love teams that the national media doesn’t spend enough time talking about. Then there’s certain teams we just like talking about. Uh we love the NFL. So let’s talk about the Raiders. Man, oh man, it has been fun. Raiders are consistently one of our videos that has uh a lot of views. And so uh just thankful for the fan base there. I feel like there’s a connect connection between especially Pistons, Lions and Pistons fans with the old Raiders of old, right? Um in Oakland. So anyways, let’s let’s get in let’s get on to this. All right, let’s talk about this for a second. There is a player that’s balling out. I’ve made video after video it seems like about him. And first it was just videos talking about how I think he could be really good. Then it was videos of like, “Yeah, I think he’s good.” And now it’s videos of holy cow, this guy is completely taking other people to school at practice. All right, we are going to talk about it and we need to talk about Dante Thornton Jr. All right. He has been balling out. Now, it starts with these are some news and notes from from practice uh yesterday. It was. And it talked about on the first play of a full field team drill, receiver Dante Thornton beat Darien Porter badly on a deep route. Smith hit Thornton in stride and he pulled away from Porter for a touchdown. When was the last time you had somebody that could do that? When was the last time? We’re gonna get into some great quotes. And stop me if you’ve seen this before. Don’t stop me. I’m just kidding. Like, this dude is elite speed. Like, this guy has a 43. I mean, this is one of the fastest wide receivers to ever test. Period. Point blank. This is faster than Jameson Williams. I told you we’re Lions fans, right? This is appearing on Xavier Worthy speed. The difference is that Xavier Worthy is what? I don’t know 6 foot 165 pounds where Dante Thornton Jr. is 6’4 and a half 205 pounds. Just such a massive difference. And he is remarkably fast, big, all of that kind of stuff. But you you need to come in right being more than just fast and his production was never there at Tennessee. The most yards was and catches 26 catches last year for 661 yards. Well, I’m going to go ahead and say but he had six touchdowns. First off, that average is insane. 25 yards. So, everybody just thought, all right, he’s going to run deep routes. He’s going to run deep routes. He’s going to run deep routes. But what people have been blown away by is the fact that he can do more than just that. He has been the first string ex receiver, outside receiver since OTAAS. He’s that has never changed. And now we’re early into practice, into training camp. He’s still the first string exceiver. We always knew the talent was there. But listen to this. Here’s what he said. And I’ll I’ll pull this up for you. Um, so you can see this quote as well. All right. He said, “My whole college career and especially going into this pre previous draft process. The biggest knock on me was that I wasn’t a true route runner when it comes to intermediate and medium routes.” This is what he said. All right. He said this yesterday. Just being able to display that at a high level while I’m playing in the NFL. Now, I guess it’s a way of like proving people wrong. All right. He went on to say another great quote that just talks about the confidence that he has with Gino Smith. Gino Smith says, or he says this, um, Dante Thornton is saying this. Gino Smith tells me every single day, if you’ve got a one-on-one matchup, I’m coming to you. Thornton said of Smith, “It means a lot to me. being a rookie and just getting here knowing that he believes in me a lot. It gives me a lot of opport motivation to keep getting better. Now, they’re talking about how Jack Beck is starting to get into the second string. Now, the thing that’s keeping him out is the fourth round pick. He’s your second round pick at wide receiver. And and and here’s the other thing that they’re talking about is what they’re doing with formations. So, here I’m going to give you a little look at the offense. I’m going to give you a little look at the offense here. Um, with the the offensive line, which is just fine. You they’ve already PFF is reading the same things that I’m reading. They put Thornton Jr. starting wide receiver on the outside. They should flip Jacobe Meyers with Trey Tucker. Um, I know they put Tucker on the outside a little bit, but Jacobe Meyers. But I’m going to do something. I’m just going to make a quick switch on this and I want you to and again this is going from 11 personnel to 21 and now all of a sudden you have two tight ends. So now it’s Michael Mayer and it’s Brock Bowers. Yes, Michael Mayer who made nice with the current coaching staff after some weird stuff. This will be Jacobe Myers. This will be Thornton. Then you got Gino Smith, who by the way was rated the number nine quarterback by PFF last year and Ashton GT with a solid offensive line. I don’t want to hear any more talk about how this offense doesn’t have weapons. They have a top five fastest wide receiver in the NFL in in Thornton Jr. and it looks like they’re going to give him every possible opportunity to win a starting job. They have one of the most reliable wide receivers in the NFL in Jacobe Meyers. Think about that. One of the most reliable receivers, consistently a top 30 pass catcher in the NFL. Truly, he has been. When you look at what he does, it has been really pretty remarkable. All right. He is a good good player. in Jacobe Meyers. Um I I I’m always amazed by that. And this is a guy who has put up a large amount of yards each year in and year out. So you have that. Then what you also have is you now so you have what is now going to be the fastest one of the fastest wide receivers in the NFL, one of the most reliable wide receivers in the NFL. Then you have the all-around best tight end threat as a wide receiver in the NFL. Yes, Brock Bowers is number one, hands down. Number one, hands down. It is not Travis Kelce anymore. It’s not It’s not KD. It is Brock Bowers. And then you put in a guy that has what is arguably coming out of college what is one of the best centers of gravity we have ever seen in Ashen Ginty. by the way, he’s already showing off passcatching chops in practice. So, yeah, I don’t want to hear anymore that the Raiders don’t have the talent. They have the talent on the offensive side to compete. And I can’t wait to watch and see it. And then they have a guy with Gino Smith who has talent around him and he just makes good decisions. Like, he just gets people the ball in good positions and you’ll see him be able to throw the do ball deep. I think one of the other telling things about that was that Thornton Jr. got space. Smith hit him like this is fantastic. Um, and so it’s a bad narrative that there’s no uh weapons on this offense. Sure, you could have said that at the beginning of last year. Can’t say it anymore. The running back room is set. The tight end room is set. The offensive line is pretty much set. You You might be able to use a little help in some spots, but it’s pretty much set. the wide receiver room. Work in progress, but definitely better. Excited. All right, thanks for watching.

  1. Great video.
    I am a Raiders fan
When it comes to the NFC teams I am always rooting for the Lions to get to the Superbowl. Lions are no longer the underdogs, they have shown they are to be taken seriously

  2. Thornton from Volunteers could be the steal of the draft.

Side note, I want Gibbs on my fantasy team, he will be my first pick if possible. I think he will have a monster year.

  3. As a raider fan, that was very informative and encouraging though not a lions fan Barry Sanders and Megatron were two of my favorite players and I think could be the next Megatron that would be cool. Good job!
