Everyone’s Sleeping on the Suns — The Most Underrated Offseason in the NBA?

But this sliding scale when it comes to the Suns comes in play constantly because they accomplish what people want and then it slides back to well you didn’t do this. I told you before the break we got more Sun slander, more Suns stuff from the national media. Uh Kevin Pelton this time over at ESPN ranking or giving grades on NBA off seasons and the Phoenix Suns got a C plus on their off season. Uh Pelton said like Milwaukee, Phoenix put a massive amount of dead salary on its books with the final two years of Brad Beal’s contract. After dealing Kevin Durant, the Suns can’t realistically contend. Even making the playoffs will be a stretch, but they’ve flipped their roster in a young direction with three uh 2025 draft picks and Mark Williams, which they acquired via trade, C++. Really, they gave the Clippers a B+. the Clippers, who essentially have put together the NBA’s version of an old folks home, who have fallen prey to a lot of the things uh that the that the Suns fell prey to previously. A team that I’ll be amazed if they’re not injured the whole year, got a B+. But the Suns, who massively reconstructed everything from head coach to front office to going from one of the oldest teams in the league to the third youngest with talent and upside, they got a C+. I understand, we’ve talked about it. You get rid of Kevin Durant, people are going to look at that and say, “Oh, not a great off season.” you take on some dead money with Bradley Beal over the next five years, people are going to say, “Oh, that’s financially irresponsible.” But when you look at the other moves that they made, the things that they did, and what they were able to accomplish, if you had told anybody in early June that they were going to be able to do this, that they were going to be able to turn over the roster, that they were going to be able to find uh what they were able to in terms of talent in that draft, people would have scoffed at you and said it was not possible. But this sliding scale when it comes to the Suns comes in play constantly because they accomplish what people want and then it slides back to well you didn’t do this. You don’t have a superstar anymore. Devin Booker ah he’s on the downslide even though he’s 28 and you were nuts to sign him to an extension because why would you sign a star to an extension? You know, when everybody before was saying, “Well, no, no star will ever want to be there after you let go of uh of Beal and traded KD unceremoniously.” This wasn’t a C++ off season. It it was BB+, right? I I just I I don’t see how you can grade it that well. And then uh the Clippers who added uh you know freaking CP3 at 40, Brook Lopez who’s 37 and Bradley Beal who played like he was 80 uh with his injuries over the last few years to go with James Harden and Kawhi Leonard who are already old and injured. Uh and we hold them as the pedestal, the the bastion of what an off season should look like. Hell, they’re doing the same with the Lakers, and they added DeAndre Eaton, who we know all about, and an aging Marcus Smart, and they they upset one of their two superstars. But yet, the Suns didn’t have a great off season. Sure.

Are the Phoenix Suns being completely overlooked this offseason? While national media focuses on big-name trades and flashy moves, the Suns have quietly made smart, strategic additions that could reshape their 2025 title chances.

  1. You’re one of my favorite Channels! Your right I’m a suns fan and we’ve done really good so far with young talent in Jalen green and Dillon brooks defense go suns ☀️

  2. Idk but I think green is gonna be fine most these suns channels are wack af saying he ass ain't gonna fit in, I'm like dude is young and wants to play with booker and ready to prove people wrong so dumb fooks fr lol

  3. I really like what we have done this off season.

I'm a big Dillon Brooks & Jalen Green fan, Williams seems to go the rim & Dunk as well & Maluach might be quite vicious.

  4. No one cares I think what Suns are finding out is without KD y’all just became irrelevant.. numbers are down why? Should of been grateful now suns have to face KD in the west he’s going to have something special for you

  5. One thing no one will admit is that the next Sun's season will be so much more entertaining than the last. I'd rather have a young hungrier team than an old isolation KD team any day.

  6. Suns fan of 30+ years… this grade feels fair, if not a little kind. We couldn't move Beal and had to eat his contract for nothing. We got only a single one of our picks back from houston in the KD trade, and got stuck with yet another SG on a bad contract who makes no sense along side Booker. Dillon Brooks was a fine , though not needle moving, acquisition if you don't care about character or players who play the right way, but if you like rooting for non-slime balls, he makes your team less appealing to root for. The Mark Williams acquisition is fine but the cost was crazy high for some one so injury prone and with only 1 year left on his contract. The draft was fine, no crazy reaches, but its the draft, we won't likely know for years if any of these picks were good or bad.

At the end of the day, we got decidedly worse with out KD and Beal, and not only didn't solve our fit issues, we arguably made them worse adding green, and we didn't get our picks back, so we can't even really tank. Our path forward remains unclear. Not even close to competing, but with no value to be gained from going into a rebuild, and Greens contract and Beales cap limiting our ability to be active in free agency, we're likely facing a prolong stretch of meaningless basketball, wasting Bookers prime before we can even begin to rebuild. Yeah, C+ feels generous to me.

  7. Good video, one hundred percent correct! I can hardly wrap my head around how much they accomplished in such a short time! This season will be a blast watching young coaches and players figuring things out for their first time!

  8. Phoenix made the MOST out of what little leverage they had in a very bad situation. Now one of the youngest teams with a bunch of hungry guys eager to prove people wrong. Minimum of a B. To completely flip your roster with a clear goal and direction… that doesn’t happen very often.
