Tampa Bay Rays vs New York Yankees Predictions Today | Best MLB Picks For Today 7/30/25

All right, let’s get into Rays and Yankees. They split the first two games of the series. I was bummed. Uh I talked about playing the the Rays over their team total. The Books have been hanging at three and a half. Then I log in this morning. Books bumped it up to four and a half. So the books have sniffed that one out. Rays have been been doing pretty decent with the bats. How do you break this game down today? Game three in the series. Well, you know, it’s a it’s a tough one because neither one of these teams has played well. They both uh looking like they’re falling off the map in the AL East race right now. But you know, the Yankees did win yesterday. They’re within five games of Toronto. Although I I think this is a team you could fade going down the stretch unless they make some major moves at the trade deadline. But Zack Latell gets a start for the Tampa Bay Rays. It’ll be Will Warren for the New York Yankees. And Warren has been in bad form over his last five starts. 629 erra, a 185 whip. With a whip that’s that high, um it’s surprising his erra is an even higher than 629. He’s given up six home runs in 24 and one/3 innings pitched over those five starts. That’s not a good ratio whatsoever. Since last year, Will Warren has really faded down the stretch. From game 82 on, he’s uh been horrible. And uh and it aligns with the fact that in 11 starts since game 82 plus since the start of last year uh 10 and one to the over the Yankees bullpen which I’ve alluded to on numerous occasions not only with you but with Steve Merrill last Saturday. Um 736 erra 168 whip over their last 24. They’ve been brutal. Um and uh that’s you know again that was their strength in years past but it’s certainly not their strength now. Zack Latell um he’s been prone to giving up the long ball. 26 home runs in 21 starts. 18 home runs in 72 innings pitched on the road. It’s one for four innings. That’s not a very good ratio for a starting pitcher. Uh the current New York Yankees um are 18 for 66 against Latell. Uh a 360 on base percentage, five home runs. So they’ve had some success when facing Latell. Um and that includes that 18 for 66 with five home runs doesn’t include uh Aaron Judge in the mix. So, uh, it’s not like I’m it’s a little bit a skew because Judge, but he’s not in a lineup and he’s not included in that 18 for 66. The Tampa Bay bullpen, like the Yankees bullpen, underachieving terribly this year. Uh, again, like the Yankees, this was their strength over the last few seasons, but not this year. in over their last six games a 509 erra. Uh the bullpen on the road this year in division games, 18 games the Rays have played uh against division opponents on on the road this year and their bullpen in those 18 games. A 610 erra and a 149 whip. The Yankees uh 14 division home games this year averaging 5.4 four runs per game and averaging 1.6 home runs per game and a 345 on base percentage. And here’s the thing that people overlook a lot and you should consider uh homeplayed umpires. David Rackley is slated to be behind home uh tonight calling balls and strikes and uh he’s eight and three to the over in his last 11 as a home plate umpire. He’s umpired or been behind the plate, I should say, in two Yankees games this year. Both went over the total. I’m going to go with Tampa Bay and the New York Yankees to go over the total in nine. And I have a better prop, too. Um, which I know you like, Andy. Uh, Anthony Vulpi is 5 for1 lifetime against Zack Latell. Not a huge sample size, but he’s had some success. Uh, that’s somewhere around a 450 batting average. And also out of those five hits, two of them were home runs. He also knocked in five uh knocked in five runs in in those 11 at bats. And uh I like Vulpi to have one or more hits tonight at odds of plus 175. And then I’m going to go out on a limb here and go with Vulpi. One or more home runs tonight at odds of plus 550. Uh hopefully we hit that uh one or more hits because of his success against Latell and then we’re assuring oursel of making a profit and then if we hit the home run prop uh then we’re really in the money uh in in that regard. So again, the Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees over nine. Anthony Vulpi plus one plus hits at plus 175. Anthony Vulpi on one plus home runs at odds of plus 550. There you have it, Andy. So give me that bullpen stats that you just gave out one more time. That was great. All right, so the Yankees bullpen, actually I didn’t include this and I will this time. uh a 736 erra and a 168 whip over their last 24 games. Terrible. Um and also the Tampa Bay bullpen, uh you’re looking at 14 division away games this year and in those 14 games their division their uh bullpen has a staff 610 erra and 149 whip. So, and if you look at both of these bullpens overall numbers and compare them to what each bullpen has done for the Yankees and Rays in the previous three seasons, for example, it’s night and day.
