Broncos’ Courtland Sutton suggests he left money on table to keep roster together: ‘It wasn’t about me’

  1. The teamwork vibes have been insane over the last year, this doesn’t shock me. This squad really wants to do something great

  2. Stop, stop, I can only get so excited.

*That* sort of thing is what you see with teams (NFL or otherwise) that have a winning mindset.

  3. That’s the type of shit that builds dynasties. Not only that, the contract seems wildly fair to me. It’s not an overpay nor is it an underpay. It puts us in a position to win now and latter.

  4. This is why teams like the bengals will always fall short & teams like the chiefs & the Brady led Pats were always SB contenders. I love unselfish players. 20 mil & a shot at a SB beats 25 mil & a losing team.

  5. Yeah… there’s something special happening around this team ladies and gentlemen.

  6. I love this guy. I think we can almost unanimously agree that he deserved a pay raise after last season, as well as the 2023 season (10 TD receptions). He should continue to be one of Bo’s reliable, steady security blankets, until hopefully Vele and/or Pat Bryant can bump up to WR1 within the next 2-3 years, or maybe a 2026 pick.

Hopefully, Harvey, Dobbins, and Engram also help keep this offense rolling. This is a chance to make a lot of noise and ruin seasons and Playoff hopes/brackets.

After this, I’m personally thinking that we see a deal for Bonitto coming down next. If his is next, or if someone else leaps him, who out of Roach (turned 27 earlier this month), JFM (29 in September), and Zach Allen (turned 27 in August) should be prioritized for us to lock up?

  7. he absolutely did and it’s strong character. this is what a good culture does. Sutton basically signed a 1 year, $27m extension. he’ll be around this year and next, to mentor the young guys. works for everyone, all around. I’ve really enjoyed Sutton’s time with us.

  8. More professional athletes should be like this. Understand that even if you take a little less, as a talented guy, you are going to get generational wealth, no matter what. You, your kids, your grandkids are all set for life. It doesn’t need to be some disgusting, giant number. I’ll never frown on a person trying to get as much money as they can, but I appreciate this mindset from Sutton.

  9. I love that a hallmark for the Broncos is that we don’t have many diva receivers. Cortland’s attitude reminds me of Rod Smith.

  10. This team is not even remotely close to a sb run 🤣 dumb move. Get the bag

  11. That is a huge statement, players that believe and want to be part of something great. Teamwork and leadership we are making headway!

  12. While I’m sure it’s true, and I think this is frankly a huge deal for the Broncos and Nix this season, I think this might be closer to “I could have made nominally more to go to a desperate team in a bad situation” than “I made a big sacrifice to stay here.”

Which really is the ideal situation. He didn’t have to take a big cut and he gets to stay on a team that is getting very close to being a serious DB contender, or is already in that group.

Although that does ignore the fact that we would have a big whole to fill if we did end up trading him. Relieved this worked out the way it did.

  13. If I was stranded in the desert I’d want Sutton carrying the water. 💧 👊
