  1. Whats morey know about being a genuine champion? Lmao foh with that hater nonsense man

  2. Not to be all “Hoosiers”, or to defend the fucking Lakers, but I am pretty sure the rim was 10 feet tall, the free throw line was 15 feet from the front of the basket, etc.

  3. All the players that played in the bubble also agree that it was one of the most mentally demanding playoffs they’ve ever had, so what are you even saying Morey? Also, it doesn’t matter, a chip is a chip lol

  4. Obviously a Morey supporter, but he was, after all, the GM of the Rockets at the time who lost in 5 games to the eventual champs 😂 DHouse shouldn’t have tried to sneak someone in his hotel room either, losing him as a role player definitely hurt the team.

IMO it’s a real championship – the unique circumstances were faced by all teams that were there. Only team I truly feel for are the Suns, who needed to go 8-0 in their bubble games to even have a shot to make the playoffs, did exactly that, but still didn’t make the playoffs.

  5. Nah I hate this logic lol. It makes even less sense that the Lakers were a 1 seed and played without home court advantage. Otherwise all teams were subject to the same conditions.

  6. Wack af, the bubble ring is heavier than an average ring because no one had home court advantage and everyone had to have the same experience in the playoffs

  7. Dude until you’re part of a championship team, shut the hell up. Dudes been a GM for almost 20 years and hasn’t sniffed a ring

  8. correct message, wrong messenger lol

    edit: full quote

    > Morey: Had the Rockets won the title, I absolutely would have celebrated it as legitimate, knowing the immense effort and resilience required. Yet, everyone I speak to around the league privately agrees that it doesn’t truly hold up as a genuine championship. Perhaps the lasting legacy of the NBA bubble is that the NBA should be proud of its leadership at both the beginning and end of the pandemic, even though the champion will forever be marked by an asterisk.

  9. “Doesn’t hold up as a genuine championship” is true but that’s a pretty high bar. It reminds me an Aesop Fable:

    >A Fox one day spied a beautiful bunch of ripe grapes hanging from a vine trained along the branches of a tree. The grapes seemed ready to burst with juice, and the Fox’s mouth watered as he gazed longingly at them.

    >The bunch hung from a high branch, and the Fox had to jump for it. The first time he jumped he missed it by a long way. So he walked off a short distance and took a running leap at it, only to fall short once more. Again and again he tried, but in vain.

    >Now he sat down and looked at the grapes in disgust.

    >”What a fool I am,” he said. “Here I am wearing myself out to get a bunch of sour grapes that are not worth gaping for.”

    >And off he walked very, very scornfully.

Sure, tell us about how that thing you can’t reach isn’t worth of your time.

  10. This is so dumb. All the competition had to play in the same conditions. The lakers were the best that year in those circumstances. Doesn’t mean they weren’t the winners that year cause the bubble year was fucked.

  11. I wanna throw up every time I hear “Mickey mouse championship”. It’s so fuckin corney atp. Everyone had the same shot at the same championship, stfu. If it was anybody but Lebron no one would be saying shit about it.

  12. Early in the process years, I stupidly bet my lakers fan friend $100 that the Sixers would win a championship before the Lakers. Thank you Daryl, I’ll be requesting that $100 back.

  13. It reminds me of this time back in grad school I was playing smash bros with a few of my bros, and after my friend one a round, I joking said “you know you didn’t really earn that one, I want everyone to consider me the winner that time”

  14. What a dumb thing to say. If the Sixers won that one, we’d be super happy about it, and he’d be signing a completely different tune.

  15. Have you seen the underachieving teams you’ve constructed Daryl?! Shut it

  16. I’ll never understand why people act like the Lakers had some kind of advantage over the rest of the teams that year. Was it different from a normal season? Sure but all teams were still on a level playing field. Some teams were just able to adjust to not playing in front of a crowd, every game being on a neutral court, etc. better than others and the Lakers were one of those teams. I don’t get how that makes it not a real championship.

  17. It’s alarming that Morey didn’t think it was a bad idea to publicly say something like this. Unfortunately, I’m not surprised.

  18. I mean I tend to agree but bad look from Morey saying that when he hasn’t won shit ever

  19. Sybau until we actually start looking like a real team again, Daryl.

  20. I’ve generally been ok with Morey but this is full on loser energy. Build a team that’s good enough and you won’t need ridiculous takes like this or if you squint hard enough you can see a contender.

  21. Some could argue is was more “pure basketball” than usual without 20k extra people starting 5 feet from the court

  22. I gotta be honest this is one of the only likable things daryl morey has said or done since joining the sixers. Cant believe whole sub is upset by it

  23. I agree with Morey. Bubble trophy was fake AF. No crowd pressure or mental pressure at all. It was basically like playing in a rec league. You got random guys like TJ warren and Jamal Murray going for 50+ pts without the added pressure which they would never be able to do in front of fans.

  24. I hate these clickbait quotes, Morey says immediately before this that he disagrees with this mindset and considers it a real ring.

  25. Jesus, Daryl. Just stfu. The team you run hasn’t done shit since 2001.

  26. Its a championship, this is such a stupid argument – I don’t even like Lebron (he seems like a solid human, I just find his personality annoying), and I think its real.

The world is massively enshitified since 2020, and we’re gonna argue about this still.

  27. The fact that morey thinks he can speak on what title means more than another, is asinine. Bruh win something first……

  28. I would take that ‘ship in a heartbeat for the Sixers. He should stfu about this one

  29. Morey needs to stfu.

Love how he contradicted himself saying it would be legitimate if the Rockets won though. Just reeks of salt.

  30. As a 76erz fan , I’d plead the feef

  31. I agree with him but I also wouldn’t say this if I wasn’t running a front office. u/dmorey has some shame and get a functional power forward goober.

  32. Try reading the actual article instead of the engagement farming tweet challenge.

    Impossible.
