QB Tua Tagovailoa meets with the media | Miami Dolphins
cepts and which still give me conflict with different coverages or one look at a coverage pre- snap to post snap. So still trying to work on on that. Yeah. No, I talk to the players more than I talk to the coaches about certain things. And then if I really do need something back again, then I’ll go mention that to Mike. Uh I have conversations with Weave about certain looks that they do, reasons as to why they do it, and then why I think that’s very helpful for my game. So we we go about it in that sense, but uh just coming out not knowing what they’re going to do, you know, I I think that’s the way to to do it in training camp so that as you go out with what your sound bites are, your footwork, uh what you should be thinking of. If you go out there and you’re thinking about the right stuff, then we’ll see it on film. And if you’re not, you know, that too will see it on film and you’ll feel that as well um in practice. What’s the conversations like with you go up to him and ask him about I guess particular looks? What are those conversations about? Yeah, he he’s had a couple looks where he he wasn’t happy with himself in regards to what I did with my eyes or what I did with my footwork to flip back to throw to where he potentially should have been. And then there are also some where he had that he was baiting me into throwing it and then you know as as you can see on the film it could it have been a pick? Could it have been a a big hit? You know we don’t know. We you know I’m I’m just trying to talk with him because it looked like he was going to the post then he ends up becoming a robber. You know I don’t know the just the pre- snap to postnap the the games that he plays with me. I I I really enjoy that and uh he’s helping get me better as as well as vice versa. Yeah, I would say I’m I’m not thinking too much about if I throw an interception or if I don’t throw an interception. In in camp, you just want to see how consistent you can be with the plays that you’re given. And a lot of the times it’s I’m just gonna try to see what this this is going to look like and what this is going to play like. And if you want to try to see if this fits in in this window on on a certain pass, you try to see. I mean, we did that today on on one of the one of the first plays maybe of camp today. So, um you know, I’m I’m not really basing it off of what the result is or isn’t for myself in in this training camp. Uh, I have about two or three things max that I have for myself that I’m focusing on for each practice that I go out there. And I can tell you like two of the three things I did not do really well uh today. So that’s what I’m saying like it’s not resultoriented, you know, because I I know for myself what I wanted to get done and I wasn’t able to get that done today. Those things and those Yeah. No, those things are private. My question about your connection with Wadd, which I know goes back a long way. Um, I know Tyreek wasn’t there for a lot of the offseason program. You were orange jersey two days ago, orange jersey today. Has the relationship gotten stronger, and if so, in what ways? I would say the the relationship has has continued to grow. Um, I wouldn’t say it’s gotten stronger or weaker. I hang out with W pretty much the same. I’ve been hanging out with him over these past couple years. Um, I just think there’s there’s a difference in his game this year and there’s a difference in in Reek’s game this year because of the way that they communicate with each other now. They communicate as a whole now. Um, and you know, like like the other things I’ve said about um, you know, Reek and then with Wat as well, but those guys are are the guys that get things going for our offense, you know, so getting those guys on the same board as each other with me, you know, we’re we’re able to to help each other make practices look pretty good. What’s the difference between facing Chop Robinson this year compared to last year? Chop’s growing up, man. That boy’s growing up. uh getting a little more muscle, boy’s getting a little faster, but you could tell you could tell uh you can tell someone’s age by their music. And I kind of didn’t like his playlist yesterday. You know what I’m saying? I didn’t like his playlist yesterday. Uh but other than that, outside of music, pretty good football player. What have you seen from your I think Quinn’s been balling. I think he’s been uh buying into what he’s been told uh in the quarterback room and then things that he’s taken from the meeting rooms with Mike’s meetings, Slow’s meetings, uh and Bev’s meetings uh and he’s been able to uh take that out here on on the on the practice field and he’s been doing really well. So, um you know, I think Zach’s been doing uh pretty good as well. And they’ll continue to work. They’ll continue to get me better. I’ll continue to get those guys better and continue to help that room grow. So far through the first two days for who? further. Uh, nah, nah. There there’s there’s always going to be things that we we need to correct and I think that’s the way to to to have it. Whether you have a good practice, whether you have a bad practice, you continue to stay uh even keel as a team and you continue to find things even if you thought you had a good practice, you continue to find things that you need to work on. And I think that’s how you continue to grow and get better as a team. Man, there’s always been motivation to get a ring, but you know what I’m saying? Now, now that those guys got a ring, we got to do something about that. Like, so talking with Ski, talking with Jaylen Wadd, sorry, talking with with Jaylen Wadd, like we we we’ve been we’ve been on that. So, um you know, trying to make that possible. last week’s conversation. How has that rebuild of the relationship to go through? Uh, it’s been good. We’re continuing to grow that relationship, but uh, you know, it where we’re at with that, that’s where we’re at and uh, you know, and still still growing. That’s it. How is your approach to practice? Yeah. Uh, I think the biggest difference is what I would how I would uh rate my practices based off of the result. That’s how I would I would gauge it. Um, if I threw however many completions and, you know, in comparison to an incompletion or touchdowns to uh no interceptions, that’s how I would sort of gauge it. And never really had uh a way for myself in, you know, setting goals like it was just like I got to do good. Well, everybody wants to do good, but figured out maybe within the past two or three years, um, you know, kind of having a process, kind of having things to work on for yourself, um, while staying on top of your other things, it it helped me. So, that that’s sort of my process now. And, um, you know, sometimes the practice may look good and everybody’s like, “Yeah, he did this and did that.” But nobody really knows like, you know, only I know like truly what what that practice was like for myself, whether it was good or indifferent. And it couldn’t look bad, but I felt good about it, you know. So, would you like to do a few preeason series this year? Oh, yeah. Practice. No, I I definitely love to get some some uh preseason snaps in. No doubt. Uh it’s a new season. It’s a new year. Got to get things tuned in with the guys again. all of that. Uh, you know, I I I don’t think I don’t think I’m better than anyone uh on this team or think I’m I’m too cool to get reps on, you know, during preseason games like no, like I I don’t mind that at all. I would love that. Drew, what has Bobby brought to this passing game? And are there certain like tles or, you know, measuring sticks about his offense this game? Yeah, he he’s brought some things over to us. He’s, you know, he has a a different uh set of uh templates, if you will, with with how he gets to things in regards to how we we got to certain routes and and route combinations. But, um, yeah, he he helps he helps out a lot. Um, very detail oriented in the past game with what he expects of the guys, um, and and, uh, what he wants of them to run out there. So, we’re we’re doing good and we we enjoy having Bobby. the young quarterbacks that you’ve seen over the weekend. Say what? Those young cornerbacks. Corners. Corners. Yeah. I mean, it it’s tough, right? I I don’t know how you get a really really good gauge when they’re going against 10 and 17. Um, you know, versus versus some of our other guys. And that’s not to disrespect any of our guys in in the receiver room, but you got to call it what it is. 10 and 17. They’re they’re just different with how they they run their routes and and then collectively their speed as well, right? Um so, you know, it it’s it’s tough for me to say they they’ve done good. They haven’t. Um you know, because that like th those guys are just just different. I mean, even even the top quarterbacks in the league, you know, have trouble covering these guys. So, uh you know, we’re we’re continuing to work as a team. I’m trying to do my best to get those guys on that that side of the ball ready before we start flying over uh to to go joint practice with Chicago and and Detroit. And uh that’s where we’re at right now. Ross was saw Ross out there watching practice. You guys have any conversations beforehand? We didn’t have any conversations beforehand. We had a a couple conversations out there on the field. um just catching up a little bit. And then we also had some uh some talks that were pretty unique to to us, I guess. So, kind of joking in a way as well. So, it was good. Uh because it was an inside joke. Yeah. All right. Thanks, guys.

TuJitsu
Fix your gush audio for goodness sake
Imma say it again EVER since Tua got there…IF THE O-LINE ain’t TOP NOTCH, it will be another mediocre season.
more worried about the defence than the offence, yes we got safeties but corners might struggle this season miami needs a #1 corner
Wild how different he looks from rookie season. One of the crazier 6 year transformations
8-9
Biggest change for the Fins this season is you can tell Tua has blossomed as a leader on the team. Holding himself and others accountable. Love to see it.
I know the problem y’all have with my quarterback now he’s too tall
Where can I watch the dolphins training camp on my phone
I have to turn the captions on cus I CAN'T HEAR lol c'mon ya'll turn up the audio
Why is it that when I watch the 49ers’ press conferences, I can clearly hear the questions being asked — but with the Dolphins, we can’t? After all these years, this still hasn’t been fixed.
You’d have way more fan engagement if fans could actually hear what reporters are asking. The solution isn’t complicated — other teams already do it — but it doesn’t seem to be a priority here.
FIX THE MICS
Prayers for kader, sad to see man
Can we please, please, please put a mic on the reporters. We can’t hear the questions.
This should have been Tua's team the last few years but you had Tyreek and Ramsay hijack the leadership role. I always thought the young guys should have been the leader. Tua, Waddle, AJ, Achane, Seiler. Those should be the leaders.
Don’t hold on to the ball 🏈 to long!!! Live to see another play…..
Ah man, Tua funny😅😅😅
How is it 2025 and we still can’t hear the reporter questions lol
Sometimes captions will pick them up but they are quite on this one
Hahha didn’t like chops play list haha like it but he a good football player let’s go 305
Let's go Tua. Best oline you've had since you've been here. Time to shine.
#1 TUA FAN HERE
The biggest difference from him I see is the willingness to fully step into being the team leader. Calling others out and not giving the same rhetorical answers. Honest answers of how he wants to get better and the importance of winning a title. I love this Tua
