Data Source: ESPN Press Release

There's no ESPN in Canada so the Blue Jays don't get shown, but there's no excuse for the Reds lol (other than being a small market team).

Does seem like a lot of these teams are criminally underrepresented, though.

  1. lol these stats are wild. Seems like NFL does a much better job of evening things out across the league; at the cost of sometimes showing shitty national games.

  2. Top 5 Matchups:

    1) BOS/NYY – 24 appearances

    2) STL/CHC – 18 appearances

    3) PHI/NYM – 11 appearances

    4) LAD/NYM – 8 appearances

    5) SFG/LAD – 7 appearances

  3. Yikes. I’m a Red Sox guy so I am well represented but how can cincy and Toronto not get a single game in 10 years

  4. No love for the Jays, it’s either because their Canadian or Rogers doesn’t want to give up tv rights for a game because Sunday night baseball is on TSN

  5. Does any ever want their team on Sunday night Baseball? The ESPN announcers are horrible.

  6. Brewers getting jobbed here, they’re fun to watch and have made the postseason 7 of the last 8 years.

  7. Thing is, any pair of MLB teams could appear on SNB. In order to interest the audience, the broadcast and especially the broadcasters need to research and understand both teams and how they fit in the baseball season and the standings. That is hard and requires study. They then broadcast the easy games, the ones where they don’t have to learn the names, positions, the towns or the history. The game is for the advertisers not the fans.

  8. If the Mets never play in espn again so we could listen to our legendary crew, seems like it would be a win-win for everybody.

  9. I rather watch Gary Keith and Ron… less games on ESPN would be great

  10. The World Series winner for the first half of the 90s have a combined 2 appearances

  11. What milestones were within reach when they aired the Rays and A’s games? Hell, was it even someone on their team, or were they just the lucky opponent?

  12. I’m assuming the jays appear 0 times because of the rights deals here in Canada.

  13. Any Red Sox vs Yankees on a Sunday night is ratings gold. At least they aren’t five hours long anymore…..

Or Dodgers – either vs Giants or Cubs is ratings too. Mets vs Philadelphia / Atlanta (when all three are good) as well.

  14. Impressive for the Phillies considering they weren’t good for 5-6 of those years.

  15. When was the last Reds game in Cincinnati featured on Sunday Night Baseball?

  16. Brewers have won their division more times in the past decade than they’ve been on Sunday night baseball.

They’ve been to the playoffs twice as many times as they’ve been on Sunday night baseball.

Honestly, Brewers Cubs is a great rivalry that’s always fun to watch.

  17. How many of the game with the bottom teams were against other bottom teams, or did they just happen to be playing those top teams?

  18. I’m actually stunned by the number for the White Sox, I would have bet the under on that.

  19. And they wonder why mlb viewership is declining, according to espn only like 8 baseball teams exist

  20. Feel like this directly correlates with international hat sales.

The drop off after Houston is crazy

  21. Brewers near the bottom of this list is criminal.. they’ve had some studs over the years

  22. Canadian here, and this tracks. I can’t even get mad about it – even when the Jays are good, the fact is that Canadian sports teams tend to be a lousy road draw in the States. It therefore stands to reason that they would be a dog in the ratings also.

  23. Brewers have the 5th most wins in the last decade and been to the playoffs 6 of the last 7 years yet only have 3 appearances on Sunday night baseball.
