Grading the Last 5 Miami Heat Trades #nba #nbatrades #heat

Let’s grade the last five big Miami Heat trades. The most recent one was a massive five team trade that went down at the 25 deadline. It basically gave the Miami Heat Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson, the pick that became Kaspar Shakuchonis, and DaVon Mitchell in exchange for Jimmy Butler, Josh Richardson, and some second round picks. I’m going to give them a B for this trade. Obviously, they’re not going to be in any better situation with no Jimmy Butler. But if he was going to leave for nothing anyway, you got at least an intriguing young guard in Kasparis and DaVon Mitchell and you were able to use the Kyle Anderson money to go out and get Norman Powell. At the 2024 deadline though, they traded a first round pick in 2027. It’s modern protected that becomes unprotected in 2028 and Kyle Lowry for Terry Rosier. I got to give this one an F. Terry Rosier was maybe the worst player in the NBA last year and he’s currently in an ongoing betting scandal. Speaking of Kyle Lowry, they did a signing trade back in 2021. They ended up giving up Goran Dragage and Precious Achi. Kyrie was good for the Heat in 2022, but then dropped off a little bit. They did go to the finals with him in 2023, but I’m going to give that sign and trade a B. At the 21 deadline, they traded away Kelly Owen and Avery Bradley for Victor Oladipo, who didn’t really go on to be a good Miami Heat. He ended up playing 54 games across three years and his largest sample size. He shot sub 40% from the field. Going to give this one an F. And lastly, a four team trade in the 2019 offseason. They pulled off a signing trade when they had no cap space. They basically traded away Josh Richardson and a future first round pick for Jimmy Butler. This one is an A+. They ended up getting somebody that led them to the finals in 2020 and in 2023. Let me know if you agree with these grades or

  1. I know it’s not considered a major trade, but the Norman Powell Kevin love trade is definitely an A. You basically got Norman Powell for nothing.

  2. Bro the Jimmy trade imo is an S. It literally got the Heat to the ECF 4 times in 5 years, and 2 finals appearances in those 5 as well. I might be biased as a Heat fan but that is just actually S rank credentials for a trade
