Marlins vs. Cardinals Game Highlights (7/30/25) | MLB Highlights

Big news happened before first pitch. The Cardinals traded ryan Helsley to the New York Mets for three minor league prospects for the Cardinals. It’s Miles Michael against Miami. He’s 4 to 1. He’s never lost at home here at Busch Stadium against the Marlins second baseman Xavier Edwards batting left handed and that one stroke to center and scott measures that up with a sliding catch Edwards, a bullet and at a ball for out number one, Jesus Sanchez, the right fielder for his last 12, 0 for seven in this series cracked out to left center field herrera on the move. He won’t get there that one hops the wall to the opposite field. Lefty bat, sanchez cruising into second and he’s got a one out double here in the top of the first and here is Austin ramirez. Their catcher ramirez lines one through the right side. Sanchez had to hold up and he’ll stop at third and that another hard hit baseball runners at the corners for Kyle Stowers. He’s been the hottest Marlins hitter, seven game hit streak and strike three pitch, Michael has got it and is out looking. Here’s Otto Lopez Lopez two out of seven in the series with a run batted in the pitch by miles is swung on and the ball is hit in the air down the right field line. Here’s walker coming on in fair ground. He makes the catch the Marlins strand runners at 1st and 3rd. Top of the second, no score. Miles. Michael is needed 18 pitches to get through a scoreless first. He stranded men at the corners, 22 pitch is cut on and missed. He pulled off that baby and Michael is has his second strikeouts. Hernandez got the day off yesterday. Swing and a miss back to back strikeouts. Hernandez is out number two with two outs. Here is Graham Paul. He hits this one in the air. Left center field comes scott calling off Herrera and scott makes the catch 123. The Marlins are out in the second. No score one up one down. My the man out and now back to the top of that line in the right center field that’s in for a base hit. Scott comes around it and he picks it up at the back in t in took big turn at first but now treat and he’s got a one out single. Sanchez coming to the play one for one tonight against Miles. Michael is now three for eight in his career. There’s a fly ball in the air belted right center field and deep. See you later, Jesus sanchez in on Michael is his 40th pitch. The Marlins strike first two run homer for Sanchez number 10 on the year and 439 ft later. It’s two nice play by Burleson up over and out good play by Alec Burson to get the final out of the inning. Great play by Alec Burleson diving to his forehand and taking a single away from Kyle ST starting the bottom of the third inning career wise against the cards. Shoves five appearances, two starts, two and zero, a 0.56 a over six innings pitch. He went, yes he did on the check. Swing goes down swinging. That’s first punch out tonight. Marlins after the Sanchez Homers strike three called to Dan Myers one down in the fifth. Xavier Edwards is the batter he singled and scored ahead of the Jesus Sanchez third inning homer stringing his together has been tough jump it short by. He read that well and darted to his right Edwards lines out to, here’s a chopper to the first baseman fair that fielded by Burleson makes a nice backhand play 123 inning for Michael as he set down the last six that he’s seen. Cal Quattro turning in at least today, maybe his best start of the season. He’s got 12 outs on 44 pitches and there’s called strike three. That’s a beautiful back door sinker and locks up Pozo and there’s one away one down in the Cardinal fifth inning for Jordan Walker. Here’s a ground ball right side , right field, a base hit for Jordan Walker. The third cardinal hit tonight, the first out of the infield. So Walker steals the base. That’s his fourth back to back walks and with one out pore now has the bases loaded and an all star coming to the batter’s box. Donovan was zero for 19 before he whistled one off the pitcher’s glove. That’s not that ######’s streak strike three, a sinker that he’s at 97 miles an hour. Donovan can’t believe it, but that is a huge punchy for Quattro. There are two men gone. The lefties have had a little luck against Quan. The righties have smoked him. It’ll take a two out hit from Herrera here that one, a bouncing ball over to second X has got it. He locks it to first. It’s cut by Johnston and that ends the inning a fired up quatre off the hill and he strands the bases loaded surgical through four and he digs deep to get through five scoreless in a swing and a miss strike three on Lopez and Michael is with a 1236 sent down the last nine Marlins. It was not a quality start but it was five quality shutout innings from cal tonight. Nelly three hits, two walks, three strikeouts worked out of that huge game in the fifth and here comes Phillips who will face Burleson shot that might turn to go. Phillips with the bear has no chance and the flying feet of Alec Burleson earned him another infield hit. So Phillips now seeing wilson Contreras who is zero for two ground ball up the middle Edwards to Lopez to Johnston double play goes 463 on Cue Kyle about that DPX to Otto to Johnston two men. The Paces two is spun on the outside edge, a perfect sweeper and Phillips locks up Arenado and joel Poso going to lead things off against Tyler Phillips who faced the minimum in a scoreless sixth. That is a fair ball backhanded by Polly. Oh Graham Paul, that was an incredible right there. You watch where he’s playing, he’s well off the third base line. He goes into foul territory. What a throw, what a stretch Cardinals haven’t scored since the seventh inning of the first game. They’re working on a 17 inning scoreless streak in July. The Cardinals have been shut out six times and there’s your first baserunner. So one on and nobody out Herrera zero for 30 for eight in the series swung on it. Miss strike three got him with a sweeper for the first out of the inning and that’s going to be it for Phillips. Here comes Ronnie Enriquez, all four table set for ST Louis two aboard one out and is coming up called strike 397 at the K on the inside corner, two down for Nolan. Arenado. Nolan one for three tonight. Called out on strikes in the sixth inning. Only his fourth strikeout this month is cut on and missed good sweeper from Ronnie and he strands two runners stay put at 1st and 2nd. Enriquez came on. He walked the leadoff man but he came the next two on for the save is Calvin Fo looking for his 10th save. Joel Poso zero for three tonight up the middle Lopez dies. He’s got it spins fires. What a play by Otto Lopez. Another ridiculous play. Taking a base knock away from joel Poso. Here’s Jordan Walker with the Cardinals down to two outs. Fastball right down the middle of the plate called strike three and a frustrated walker taps the end of the bat in frustration on the plate. The last time the Cardinals have been shut out in back to back fashion at home got to go back to 2022. So JC reached base twice. He’s walked in single in the year to right. Sanchez is over. He’s got it back to back shutouts for the Marlins in their first series win in Saint Louis since 2018. They’ve rattled off five consecutive series in a row and they’re headed home with a record of 52 and 55. Look at the last 11 series, nine wins for the fish.

  1. Is it safe to say we playin playoff worthy baseball rn? Great pitching and defense today. Back to back shutouts feels good. Especially since I thought we might get no hit in game 1
