  3. I love Fernando after all this time, something about the way he plays, how the kid in him comes out when he makes a big play or says something like this in his interview. I hope they get some help, and can keep playing great baseball from here on out!! This version of us reminds me of how we where playing when we started the season. With some guys coming back from the iL, and a nice free agent signing, this team could really make a run…

  9. As a Mets fan, I didn’t read the word “us”, and I thought he was referring to the Mets, in the first part of his statement. He would be correct!

  12. I said this a while back (pardon the pun) and was downvoted to an oblivion. Salas ego’d my 6 year old daughter after a Storm game when she asked for an auto last year. Trade him.

  13. This might be a hot take. But I think there’s a world where our trade deadline appears a little lack luster for a few reason. I think we can afford to give up a decent amount of our more miscellaneous pitching prospects for some current mlb batters we can add to our bench. I think we sign king and see if cease and his agent are willing to see about a one year deal considering how little he’s provided besides making starts and giving us five plus innings most starts. I also think we can’t quite let Salas or de Vries go because we need a controllable catcher and at some point Xander won’t be able to keep up with the work of SS. I think Ward would be the “splashiest” name we’ll get, maybe another bench bat who can catch too.

  15. I think De Vries is untouchable but Salas and any other non-core player can go.

    Any team other than like the Yankees/dodgers only has so many years to compete seriously. This team is seriously competing. The fans are showing up like no time in the teams history. The pitching is good enough, a couple bats could really decide the fate of the rest of the season.

    IMO in this position you just have to go for it and hope the team can get hot/stay hot at the right times. If not now, when?
