Top STANDOUTS From New York Giants Training Camp!

What’s going on everybody? Welcome to another edition of Giants Collective. Happy freaking hump day everybody. Of course, I’m joined by Adriana down there, Anthony over there, and Chris is down there in the corner. Uh not in the bedroom, but in the corner. What’s going on everybody? Hope we had a great uh week leading up to hump day. Obviously, the Giants did not practice today. Before we get started though, I just want to say uh to our guy behind the scenes, Bora. Uh I am not a boomer. Uh Bora, I am a Gen Xer, okay? I am old, but we us Gen Xers take great offense to that. And I know that Bora is a young guy and everybody that’s older than young guys thinks we’re all boomers. I’m not a boomer. When’s the cut off? When’s the cut off for the boomer generation? 1965. I’m not even close. I’m 10 years after that. I’m a millennial. I think I’m on the on the beginning stage. Yeah, you’re you’re an older millennial. Exactly. I think Chris and I are millennials. But I’m just kidding. I figured out how to put it on IG stories and that was the whole reason he called me a boomer because I’m like I can’t post a link. He said boomer put it on IG stories. But seriously, man, big shout out to Bora, Tori, and the rest of the crew that put on their show because we love doing this show. It’s going to be a big year for the Giants and we’re looking forward to it. So, shout out to our guys at the production crew uh without question. And again, today the Giants in practice, but we’ve had a full week of practice under our belt. We’ll talk about some of the uh some of the things going on. And well, we can start with Jackson Dart because I know we talked about that. He got off to a bit of a a shaky start, which he figured he would. He’s a rookie, but you know, AJ, you’ve been there a lot. And I know Anthony, you’re getting ready to Have you been there? Are you going just tomorrow is your first time there this year? Tomorrow’s my first day there. Yeah. Okay. So, I know we’ve been paying attention to it though. How, Audriana, how much has he improved since like, you know, what do you think since his first day at training camp? A lot. I I definitely have been impressed with him. And, you know, we always hear Dable speak, right? He’s like, “Oh, Jackson is progressing well and he’s gotten better every practice.” And Dable always says stuff like that and I roll my eyes, but like I actually have seen it with my own two eyes. So I’m like, okay, I agree with Dable on this. And you know, Jackson even said after practice on Sunday, which Sunday I think was the turning point for him, where he said things are finally slow slowing down for him and he feels like he’s in a good place now and can take it to the next level. And we’ve seen that for the most part from, you know, the practices that I’ve been at on Monday and Tuesday. He’s been relatively accurate. He’s had some really nice back shoulder throws. Um, he’s done a nice job of getting through his reads. Obviously, he doesn’t do it every time, but I’ve seen quite a few plays where he’s able to get through at least two or three before he go ahead goes ahead and makes a decision with the ball. And, you know, he’s made some nice plays once he’s done that. He also can slide, which I caught it on camera and I was like, “Oh my god, this is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.” I was so worried about that. And I don’t know if anyone else was as worried as I was about it, but we watched Daniel Jones for six years never learn how to slide. We watched Tay Banks who still can’t turn his goddamn head around. So, at some point, I’m like, you know, you worry about these players like, are they actually going to be able to learn something new at the next level, whatever. And Dart really never slid in the past. At least the games that I watched at Old Miss, I didn’t see that. And and I know that was a concern from the coaching staff. And you know, I it was like a beautiful slide right towards going out of bounds on the sideline. Came at the perfect time. Just executed beautifully. I was like, if I didn’t know better, I would think this kid used to play baseball and practice sliding into second base. He did a really nice job. So, I was worried about that because we all know the best what is it? The best uh capability is availability or whatever. Yeah, the best the best ability is availability. Yeah. So, you know, he needs to live to see the next down. But some of the things that I’ve been worried about is getting through the reads and sliding and not, you know, trying to truck into people. Obviously, it’s camp. But I think the fact that he started to do that early on is very promising. I don’t think he should be like deemed the the backup quarterback yet. I think it’s a little too soon for that, but he is he does seem to be progressing quickly and learning quickly, which is great. Who was the who was the receiver? I saw the highlight clip that he hit on the the back shoulder throw in the corner of the end zone. That was a great throw. Uh I saw that everyone was retweeting that on Twitter. It was number 81, I think, made the catch. Little Jordan Humphrey. Yeah. Well, that was a great throw by Dart. I mean, it’s only one throw, but that was a really nice throw. I saw I think it was Tuesday made it. Yeah. Before we hit Anthony, I mentioned this in our group text how you and I great minds think alike. And then I said, “Well, your mind’s great and my mind is freaking old.” And again, Boomer brain, I should do this in the beginning of the show. Thank you for joining. And I promise one of these days I’m going to do that at the beginning of the show again and not after Audriana speaks because for whatever reason, she starts talking. I’m like, “Oh, I forgot to do that.” Anthony, what’s your impressions of Jackson Dart and his improvement so far through the first week of training camp? I’m pretty excited. I mean, Chris pointed out that play where he hit that back shoulder to little Jordan Humphrey. That was a great throw. Um, that’s not the only great throw that he’s had, though. He had another back shoulder that he put on, I want to say it was Bo Collins. Yeah, him and Bo Collins connected on a big play downfield as well. So, he’s shown some pretty good timing on those back shoulder fades, which I think is something that the Giants offense has really been missing for the last several years. I don’t think we’ve hit many of those back shoulder fades downfield and really just haven’t hit a lot of downfield shots in general. And obviously, we’ve seen a bunch of those so far through camp, not only with Russell Wilson, but with Jamus and with Jackson Dart. So, definitely a more aggressive quarterback room. Uh, I am happy to see that Jackson Dart does know how to slide. I think that’s a really good point, Audriana, because Daniel Jones would just run into people and concuss himself essentially, just wouldn’t go down and protect his body and he did suffer many injuries as a result. And actually, Jackson Dart does have a background in baseball, so that probably did help him, and that’s why that slide was so clean. And also why he could throw the ball off his back foot with so much accuracy. So, I’m really excited. I think everything we’ve seen is good. I like his quote saying that he doesn’t want to play like a robot, saying that he feels like things are starting to slow down for him. You know, he’s learning and it’s all part of the process. Not every practice is going to be clean. Not every practice is going to be pretty. He is a rookie and we all knew he was an unfinished product, but I actually think that he’s further along than we really expected him to be at this stage. I thought there would have been more hiccups and maybe more mistakes early on in training camp than really what we’ve seen because I think that he’s actually played at a higher level than maybe I even expected. And he’s doing that while primarily playing with a second team. I thought that he was going to start out primarily playing with the third team, but he must have shown enough during the spring to where the Giants coaching staff felt comfortable having him kind of rotate in with that second team and take more of those reps in Jameus Winston even. So, we were talking about whether or not he’s going to be the backup quarterback. I think there is a chance that by the end of the summer, Jackson Dart is QB2 on this roster. We’ll see what that means for Jameus Winston and his future with the team. Could he wind up on the trade block? But no, Jackson Dart’s definitely made progress taking a lot of those second team reps. I’m really excited and hopeful for the future. You know, speaking of the slide, remember when he had the interview with John Gruden? John Gruden told him, “What the hell are you doing there? Get out of bounds, you know, get out of bounds. Just slide down because you’re going to get hurt.” And that that’s pretty much what he told him. He’s like, “Don’t don’t try to be a hero.” He called him evil [ __ ] conval. And I get that. I like that kind of reckless abandon, but at the same time, you got to be smart. So, seeing him do that, and I forgot who posted that or like who I retweeted that from that slide, and I said we need to see a lot more of that uh in practice. It might have been Bobby Skinner. I I forgot. It might have been Bobby that posted that, but I I you know, retweeted and said, “We need to see a lot of that.” You want to see these guys slack. It’s such a underestimated, like undervalued aspect of a quarterback. They got to get down. They don’t want to take these hits because trust me, man, when one of them linebackers has a chance to knock your teeth down your throat, they’re going to want to do it. So, you’re protected. Get down. Get down quick. Don’t let them hit you. Chris, what do you think about Jackson’s progression through the first week of training camp? First off, about the sliding thing, I’ll be the first to say that I got as and I’m sure most all of us were probably jacked up when we saw Daniel Jones level Grady Jarrett, the defensive tackle for the Atlanta Falcons on that play. But it’s stupid for a quarterback like as a fan, you get emotionally invested and you love to see that your quarterback uh puts his body on the line, but there’s a reason that Daniel Jones only had one year his entire career as a Giant in which he started the year and finished the year without any disruption due to injury because he constantly put his body on the line. So, yeah, I think it’s good that we have a quarterback, at least thus far, seems uh will be able to keep his body out of harm’s way a lot better than Daniel Jones did. That’ll keep him on the football field. That’ll give this team the best chance to win going forward if he becomes the quarterback that the New York Giants obviously think he can be. Um, as I’ve said all along with training camp with Dart, I’m not going to get too high. I’m not going to get too low. Uh, people were flipping out when he’s when he’s uh when he throws a pick six, his first throw at training camp. I said that’s stupid. Not that I think anybody’s stupid for being excited that he’s making some good throws, but at the same time, it’s training camp. It’s the second team. I’m like I said last show, I’m gonna I’m exc I’m excited to see the kid play this year. I can’t wait. But I look at this as a free year for him. He’s learning under Russell Wilson. He’s going to learn on the fly when he inevitably probably sees the field at some point this year. Next year is where I, as a fan, I’m going to really start to grade him and start to think, can this guy be the long-term answer at the quarterback position? this year for me is about him learning, but he certainly has some tools. And I that throw uh and it’s one throw uh that I saw today. And I I think I know the other throw you’re talking about, Anthony, that was also in the end zone if I’m not mistaken. And that that at least from the camera angle looked like it was a further throw. It was almost a hash to hash throw in the corner where he fit it, I think, in front of one DB and over the top of the other. It was a really nice throw if if that’s the throw you were talking about. He’s made a couple of throws that I’ve seen at least the highlights of and I’ve said, “Okay, that’s a first round quarterback.” So, you see the arm talent for sure. Um, and he’s got some athletic ability. So, I’m excited and I’m excited to see what Dav could do with him uh this year when he does get an opportunity to play. And I do think uh like Anthony just said, I think there’s a very strong chance he’s the QB2 to start the year. I think that’s definitely in play. I’ll tell you, man. Um I don’t look so much for like results, I guess, in training camp. throwing touchdowns or or you know obviously one of the complete passes and everything. What I see what I’ve seen from Jackson in the in the first week just progression wise and Audriana mentioned how the game’s kind of slowing down for him. I see a guy building confidence and I you Chris you know I mean I’ve worked with you for years and pretty much since we’ve been working together Daniel Jones was the quarterback and my biggest issue with Daniel Jones and reason one of the main reasons I thought he failed was confidence lack thereof. He didn’t have any confidence. conviction in his throws, always hesitating, thinking way too much. I think Jackson Dart, just a confidence level. You’re going to make mistakes. Every quarterback makes mistakes the best. Mahomes makes mistakes. Josh Allen makes mistakes. It’s your ability to rebound and learn from those mistakes that’s going to make you a really good quarterback in this league. And you can’t worry about and hang your head and oh home, you know, and you got to get back on the horse, man. You’re going to get thrown off. You got to get back on it. And you got to ride that thing. You got to take control of that horse. That’s what I like to see from Jack Snder. I just see see a guy that’s much more confident in his throws right away. His ability to take off when he feels a rush and get out of that pocket and slide like Audriana said. These little things that he’s doing, just watching him progress little by little gives me confidence that he can learn this stuff. And again, he’s got talent. There’s no question about it. So, if you can hone his skills and he can learn these intricacies of playing quarterback at the NFL, he definitely has a possibility to succeed. We’re not have to worry about it this year either. And that’s the big thing. He could learn with no pressure. He’s not going to be thrown in there week three because if Russell Wilson, god forbid, please don’t get hurt. But I think Jameus Winston will be the quarter. I don’t think they would do that to Josh. But later in the year, he may be, but by that time, if he’s in the game late in the year, we’re out of it. So again, no pressure for him. I think next year the pressure begins and the Giants obviously have another year or two build around him. So I I like seeing him get better in training camp. I’d rather him go that way than we don’t want him to do bad. But I I I uh I didn’t even know about the robot quote that you brought up. And that’s funny because I don’t think I’m alone in this. I think a lot of Giants fans felt this way about Daniel Jones. You said that Jackson Dart said that he didn’t want to play like a robot. Like Daniel Jones when I watched him play, he played like a robot. Like it was like I don’t know. Just the way that he scanned the field, he he didn’t seem it wasn’t smooth. Not just his sliding technique, just his ability to scan the field. It was like it was like I’m looking here now. I’m looking here. Like he was very robotic. So that’s refreshing to hear that Jackson Dart came out and said I do not want to be a robot. So that was that that’s nice to hear. I didn’t I didn’t even know about that quote. It’s also refreshing to hear because he’s not speaking like a robot. Daniel Jones played like a robot. He spoke like a robot. He acted like a robot, but Jackson Dart is carefree. At least seemingly. I think he cares, but he’s just confident. He’s loose and he’s candid when speaking to the media, which is like a major breath of fresh air for me. I’ve said this a lot. I’ve ranted about this probably too many times, but you know, I saw Russell Wilson had like a 709word response when the media asked him, “Are you confident?” That’s it. That was a simple question. I mean, you can think about how that answer how that question would have been answered over the last six years. wouldn’t have been a seven 709 word response, but I get excited about that because I think that’s great to have a quarterback with confidence and with personality on the podium because I think it does a lot for the locker room and I think we’ve seen that already with Malik Neighbors being really comfortable in his media sessions and talking about how these new quarterbacks that are in this building have completely changed the culture. I think there is a new culture and I think it’s really just because of the change at the quarterback position. So, uh, no robots in this quarterback room. A lot of personality and I really love it. Yeah, I was just gonna piggyback off that, Anthony, and say, how do I mean, you can tell uh the team seems like they’re having more fun. Maybe it’s just me. Maybe I’m seeing that, but it seems like they are loose. It seems like even coach Dable is loose. And I don’t want to make this into a Daniel Jones bash session because Lord knows I did that for the last six years. Okay, I I get it. But seriously, you the personality of a quarterback I think is very important because they’re the leader of the team pretty much. You obviously have your defensive captains, but everybody knows that the team, the most important position is a quarterback. So, with Daniel Jones being so, like you said, robotic and kind of vanilla and like no personality, just like a bowl of oatmeal, and then you got Russell Wilson and you got Jameus Winston and now you got Jackson Dart. So, you know, you you got like a little uh fajita from breakfast there. Now, you got some spice. Throw some hot sauce in that [ __ ] and let’s go. Tommy got a little personality, though. Don’t forget about him either. Oh, Tommy, of course. So, yeah, we got to throw throw some Italian bread in there with the fajita, a couple canoli on the side. Why not? But Anthony, how important do you think it is, if if at all, for a team to be kind of carefree and loose? Not, like I said, not like they’re aloof and they don’t care, but you can definitely tell it seems like they’re enjoying the game. They’re having fun. How important is that for a team to like enjoy one another and have a good time when they’re playing football? I might be the young blood on this show, but I know my Giants history, too. And I know how the Colts have changed when Tom Coughlin took the team bowling. I know these stories and I know that it’s important for the team to feel like a team, for it to feel like a brotherhood, for them to be friends, to enjoy going to the facility and practicing on the football field together. It’s super important. I think that’s important in life. I think anybody who works a job, you want to like your co-workers. It’s the same thing with a team. It’s the same thing with football. It’s I think it’s of the utmost importance for them to be loose and enjoying what they’re doing. I think over the last few years, a lot of these players were flatout miserable. They didn’t like going to the facility. They didn’t like playing on Sundays. I think that’s why we had players get their effort called into question and we had all these issues with guys not trying or giving up or maybe being somewhat injured but not participating in practice even though they probably could. We’ve seen things like that over the last few years. But right now I don’t think we would see anything like that. I think this team really wants to be on the field. They want to compete and they’re all competing for one another and that’s really important. So I know that Russell Wilson has taken initiative. He’s taken guys out to dinner. He set up a lot of off the facility uh events for his teammates and I I think there’s also been instances of that with obviously he’s done the training, he’s done the dinners and also on the defensive side of the ball I know a lot of those guys got together to do some training as well outside of the facility especially in the defensive line. Dexter Lawrence took a lot of the young guys with him to train with Mark Hall, respected defensive line coach. Darius Alexander was there, Jordan Riley was there and some other guys around the league. So, I think all of that stuff is really, really important and it creates good team chemistry and it creates a camaraderie that’s going to allow them to fight a little bit harder on Sundays and hopefully, God willing, pick up some more wins this season. Chris, how important is it for the guys to be out there having fun and not just kind of going through the motions? I’m not going to put that all on Daniel Jones why they weren’t having fun. I think there was a lot more to it than just that. The team was horrible. They had, you know, they went through several coaching changes, but of course, he was a part of it. He played the most important position. I’ve always said in defense of Daniel Jones’s personality, people said the same thing about Eli Manning. I I remember growing up when he first started with the Giants, people used to pick on him, oh, he doesn’t have the personality for New York, the O shucks mentality. So, at the end of the day, if you’re winning football games, it’s a lot easier to uh be happy with the quarterback’s personality. You find a way to like that guy and view him as a leader. And Daniel Jones just didn’t do enough winning. But of course, having a friendly atmosphere and a quarterback that you could relate to helps, but it only helps if you’re winning. If the Giants win three or four games this year and Jackson Dart’s playing horrible and Russell Wilson’s playing horrible, the locker room’s not going to be kumbaya uh mid to late season. So, at the end of the day, it’s going to come down to the wins and losses, but it’s good to be optimistic going into the year. The only thing I’ll say about now, I’m not in the locker room, but yeah, I think we all know Eli Manning joked around a lot and was hurt after the fact in the locker room, right? But you didn’t hear those things about Daniel Jones at all. I mean, you remember a bad talk. The media used to kill him for the All Shucks attitude. I remember. I know. But that was with the media. Like I’m saying like in the locker room, I feel like that it could have been different. Again, I’m not in there. I mean, we’ve talked to Patty Trainer though. She’s been in there and I think she kind of said the same thing. He’s just kind of to no fault of his own. Like it’s not knocking him, but he was just a dull guy. You know, he didn’t have much of a personality. It’s just much different. Audrea, do you think it’s important that these guys are having a good time and they’re kind of carefree and uh you know, loose or does it not matter at all? Well, I’m laughing to myself about you talking about DJ like that because I saw a video on the Colts like Tik Tok or something and it was one of the social admins had a megaphone and was saying like good morning to all the players that came in and I’m like waiting for DJ like maybe we’re going to see DJ like hey good morning like all excited and he’s like one of the players who’s not included in it and I was just like that sounds about right but I I think it’s so true you know the way that Malik Neighbors has gushed about Abdul Carter and Brian Burns and some of the other players on this team. I think there’s a completely different energy there. And I I can’t remember who it was, but I was listening to some Giants podcast and someone was saying that the atmosphere around the players and the coaches is very different in the sense that the coaches are not on edge. And he specifically said it that way. And I thought it was really interesting because last year I don’t know maybe they had much higher expectations because of DJ like I don’t know but I think you really see that like Dable gets pissed when he has to when there was a false start in the red zone during an 11on 111 drill which is unacceptable. It’s how you lose football games. So you know you love to see Dable get pissed off about stuff like that. But outside of that, like I saw Brian Burns and Dable like hanging out, you know, on the field while they’re running other 11 on 111 drills when like the third and fourth strings are in. Um, so I feel like there definitely is a different type of relationship there. And you know, I think one of the players have said this at this point and they’re like, you know, I’m not comparing it to going to battle because it’s obviously not the same thing, but you when you go out there every Sunday, you’re fighting for each other on the field and you have to have each other’s backs. And the more you get to know each other and you know their personality and their life outside of football and what’s important to them and things like that, the more you care about being a good football player on the field to help them out. And I think that that has been shown a little bit. Like even the way that Jackson Dart and Cam Scataboo come out together every single practice, you know, they’re all doing stuff together. The way that they all went bowling and they did these different types of dinners and things like that. I think it helps. I think, you know, like you guys said, it’s like your co-workers, right? The co-workers that you like and have a good relationship with, when they email you, you’re like, “All right, I’ll get this.” You know, you’re happy to do that. Facts. And then when it’s someone you hate, you’re like, “Oh my god, here.” And I think it’s evident with all the players. Like every media interview I’ve had, all the players who spoke to Kay Williams, they’re just like gushing and glowing over each other. Like I don’t know if you guys saw the clip from Malik about Abdul, but I’m like, this is how everyone wants their partner to talk about them. This like facial expressions. It was so pure the way that he talked about like how good he is as a football player and that he calls other players as he’s watching the film and tells them they have to look at these specific clips from practice. Like this is what I want to hear. Like I think they’re all really excited and I think they all care and I just think they have a different level to um like what’s going on in the building right now. It’s it absolutely feels different. I agree with that. Yeah. Real quick, uh we see the super chat so we’ll get to those in just a couple minutes. So, just want to let you know we’re not ignoring. We’ll get to them in a couple minutes. And listen, as a guy that used to go to training camp all the time, this going to lead me kind of into my next thing here. Uh, in Albany, I went there for many years. I would always say my vacation in August, I’d take three weeks off, I’d go down there almost every day. It’s a lot closer to me than New Jersey is, so I could go watch them. And I can tell you the first couple years that Coughlin was there, I mean, he just killed these guys. I always say the the the one on the America’s game when he screams we lost the game because of illegal procedure get your ass. I was there. So I remember that and I started laughing like I remember that. But 2007 he was very different. He just was and and the energy was different. Um so I’m not saying winning a Super Bowl, but I I do think that if you do enjoy your teammates and and Chris, you’re right. I mean winning certainly helps. We said this 2022 maybe winning builds culture. It was all talk about the locker room culture. I don’t care how good your culture is. If you’re losing games, uh you might lose some of the players, you might lose some of the coaches. It’s tough. It’s tough to be on a three- win team and you’re not going to be happy. Um, but I also think that it can certainly help of course each if you really like your co-workers like Audriana said which you have there’s definitely emails I’m like um I don’t you know there but if you if you truly like your teammates like if they’re having a bad day you can go over there and pick them up say hey man it’s all right don’t worry about it like you’re there for one another and I think that type of thing the camaraderie goes a long way in helping these guys with their confidence and building their confidence up and in turn that can help them on the football field. Whereas, if they just kind of ignore one another and they’re not really paying attention, it’s not a close-knit unit. There’s not a lot of support within the players. I think that could also be a detriment to the team. So, I I think it’s interesting. We’ll see exactly how Yeah, definitely hope right now for sure, both with the team and with the fan base in training camp, which you should have expected uh going in because you have a new quarterback. You have a you have a rookie quarterback that’s bringing hope, Abdul Carter. It’s just a it’s just a change. It’s fresh. No, you have you’ve had the same quarterback for six years. So, I’m I would have been stunned if there if it wasn’t a lot more hopeful than what we’ve seen um at least last year. I think the year after they made the playoffs, people were hopeful and in the locker room, people seem to think they were getting along great. Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones had a great chemistry. Um but then the team started to play horrible and the locker room deteriorated and you started to see a lot of players quit like Tay Banks last year and uh Evan Neil, I remember he went at the fans and he said that they were burger flippers or whatever he said. Um, so yeah, and I’m, you know, I I I’m not trying to like make people not be hopeful. I want I know what you’re saying. No, I get at the same time things will get a lot less hopeful if the team’s winning two or three games. So winning ultimately is what builds culture like you said. Yeah. One more thing that Sorry, when you were saying this bad dog, I was thinking about this. I don’t know if you guys listen, but Germaine Illuminor was asked about Evan Neil. And he said that Illuminor goes over to Evan Neil and tells him every day that he’s here for him and that he has the confidence in him to be a good guard and he knows what it’s like moving from tackle to guard and playing different positions. And he’s like, I just want him to know that I have faith in him and I’m confident in him and if he has any questions or any issues that he can always come to me because I’ve been there before. And I think that’s another thing that that just says a lot about, you know, some of the players that they have brought into this building. And, you know, like Chris said, Neil has gotten into sh some [ __ ] with the fans. A lot of the fan base literally hates his guts and doesn’t ever want to see him again. But I think the fact that he’s got people in the building who reiterate to him that they have confidence in him. You can see even his own press conference like he looked like he was, you know, it wasn’t like pulling teeth for him to go speak to the media. and you know he said that he was happy about the change and he’s willing to do whatever it takes for the team. So I I think a lot of these guys have had a bit of an attitude adjustment too within the last couple months and I we may never know what caused it but I think between guys like Neil Tay Banks even Kavon I feel like is working his ass off harder than we’ve probably ever seen before. I just feel like there’s something there and maybe they all have their own reasons. Maybe for Neil it’s that he realized he’s not getting another contract. I don’t know. Whatever it takes. But I I feel like there’s a different type of fight in a lot of the players. And I think that’s a big part of it. And I also hope that a big part of it is that they look at guys like Dexter Lawrence and Darius Leightton and Andrew Thomas and say you guys have been on this [ __ ] ass losing team for years. You know Dexter Lawrence is one of the best in the NFL. Like he puts his work in and does his part every single day. same thing with Brian Burns that like it’s up to us to kind of pick up the slack and do our job, too. So, let’s hope it translates to wins. The one thing about Evan Neil, the things I’ve seen is Brian Dable said he’s been very professional about the move to guard. He’s working really hard. seen him have a couple really good reps and obviously it’s going to take time, but I’m so glad that they took the initiative, the Giants had to at least move in there because I’ve used Eric Flowers as this example a lot, right? He was a terrible left tackle. The Giants didn’t try. I screamed and moved him a guard for years. They didn’t even try. He went to Washington. He wasn’t a great guard, but he wasn’t bad. And he got a three-year deal from Miami because he played good enough at guard. Justin Pew was drafted as a right tackle. He moved to guard. He was he wasn’t the best tackle, but when he went to guard, he became a, you know, a Pro Bowl guard. So, it can be done. I like that Evan Neil’s attitude has adjusted. It certainly helps. And I also thought I read somewhere on Twitter that when he went out there, like he waved to the fans and they actually gave him an ovation. Like they actually cheered for him. New York fans are very tough on our players. You don’t want to mess with the fans. You don’t want to battle the fans. But, you know, people like, “Oh, you boo your players.” Yeah, we do. So does Philadelphia. The big market teams all do this. Chicago does it. Boston does it. Like the teams that want Cubs fans don’t. Chicago Cubs. Well, Cubs fans, I’m not, you know, I’m talking about, you know, maybe but Philly’s tough obviously. But nobody wants to boo the players. Like everybody wants to cheer and they’re not really booing the players. They’re booing the performance because it’s been frustrating here. It’s been really bad. Uh, so is we’ll stay on Evan Neil and then we’ll get to the super chats. Chris, um, how big of an addition could this be if Evan Neil just becomes like an average guard? Well, that’s the story line. I I said it two weeks ago when we were talking about what we’re most looking forward to into training camp. That’s the story line that I’ve been most excited about to see if he can become a starting caliber guard for the New York Giants. I’m still leaning that he will not start the year as a starting guard for the Giants. I think they’re going to start the year with the same group they had last year for continuity purposes. They’ll probably want Evan Neil to continue to grow at that position into the season, but I think he’s going to see the field this year. And I think I wouldn’t be stunned if he sees it relatively early. Um, and so far, and again, I’m not going to get too high on any of this. It’s it’s training camp. Uh, we’ll really get to evaluate these players when the games actually matter. But the clips I’ve seen, and I think we all agree that after we saw how bad he was as a tackle, his The thing that always stands out to me with him as a tackle, the guy the guy couldn’t get off the line of scrimmage. The the the the edge would always run right by him off the edge because he had such a bad break off the ball. Uh you always thought he would translate a lot better to the guard after you got a year or two of him as a tackle with the Giants. Giants finally did it. And so far the clips I’ve seen I see he had a really good rep. I think Bobby posted it. I retweeted it against uh Abdul Carter where he he really held his ground. So, uh, you know, so far encouraging again training camp, but if he could become an average guard even for the Giants, all of a sudden you’re like, okay, now we got a guy that you could hopefully extend on a guard salary, not a tackle salary. Um, and you got another piece to the puzzle on the offensive line that you could build with. So, I think that would be huge, not just for the Giants this year, but for the long-term future if they could turn him into a respectable guard in the NFL. And I don’t think it’s farfetched. You mentioned Eric Flowers. We’ve seen crappy tackles morph into good guards in the NFL and I think he has a better skill set for that position at the NFL level. So I think that’s what I’m most excited about thus far in training camp is the fact that he’s getting positive reviews at that spot. Aud how big of an uplift would it be if Eric Flowers be Evan Neil Evan Neil became a good guard Eric Flowers in the brain. I think it would be great. He’s done a nice job with run blocking. If he can pick up the pass blocking and beat out GVR, that means he’s done a hell of a job. Um, and I think it would be just I mean, outside from the fact that Joe Shane would be thrilled that his number seven overall draft pick finally did something. I think it would also just be a good reminder that, you know, the Giants have maybe that like they do have a good coaching staff and they do have a good eye for picking good players. And look, every single player they draft, it’s not always going to work out, right? Didn’t work out for the first three years of Evan Neil’s career. But if he can figure it out now, it’s it’s light years in the right direction for the Giants as a whole, whether or not they decide to resign Evan Neil, it also just means, I think, that if he’s that good, that the Giants probably have a good year, which is important, too. I know there’s so many concerns and questions around the offensive line. And you know, it opens up the opportunity that if they don’t want to bring back GVR, then maybe they consider bringing back Evan Neil. Just they figured out, you know, a year or two too late that they should have moved him to guard. But better late than never, I guess. Yeah. Anthony, how big how big would it be for Evan Neil to become a protective guard? And couldn’t they just pick up his fifth year option if he if he does become a good guard this year? They already declined the fifth year option. Can’t do that. Yeah, he’s set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. But I think that, you know, more than anything, it’s good for Evan Neil if he becomes something. Uh, teams were probably already willing to take a chance on him in free agency because he was drafted so high. So, they probably would take the flyer on him like a Mai Beckton situation. But, if he’s actually able to demonstrate that he’s a good player before he hits free agency, he’ll probably get paid in decent amounts. So, but it would be great for the Giants, too. I don’t know how good he possibly could be. I have no idea what his ceiling truly is at this point. I mean, we are talking about him after a few good training camp practices. I’m definitely encouraged. I’m excited about it. But also, I want to see it in the preseason, let alone the regular season. Last year during the preseason, he took some reps against the Jets after a couple of strong practices in training camp, and we immediately all were like, “Well, welcome back, Evan Neil.” Because he let up a sack on like his third rep. So, I want to at least see it in the preseason before I get too far ahead of myself. And again, I I’m pretty positive about him right now. I’m definitely excited about this. I think he really is a natural guard. I think that position suits him. I think the his strengths can be maximized there. His min his weaknesses can be minimized. That’s where he belongs. Whether it’s on the left or right side, wherever he’s more comfortable, there’s a clear path for him to get into the starting lineup from the right guard position. But also, the Giants have had a lot of injuries on their offensive line over the last several years. There’s going to be an opportunity for him to play. It will probably be at one of those guard spots. It even could be at tackle if things really shake out poorly for the Giants on the offensive line. But I just think the fact that he’s making this move to guard and he’s showing signs of progress and signs of life that is encouraging because I he first of all he didn’t even practice for the most of last summer and the summer before that he didn’t really look too stellar anyway during those training camp practices. So overall again feeling positive but I do want to see him in the preseason at the very least before we talk about giving him regular season reps where throughout his career he has been a liability in the regular season. So let’s get to the preseason first and foremost. For me, I think the most encouraging thing about Evan Neil is just the fact that he didn’t embrace the move. He he could have whined about it. He could have bitched and moaned about it. He he could have held out. He could have done whatever. Uh when he’s like, “No, I’m a tackle.” But the fact that, you know, Dave Bol said he’s been a constant professional about it. He’s working really hard. To me, that’s encouraging because I don’t care how talented you are. If you don’t work at this level, you’re going to fail. I mean, that you get you can get here on your athletic prowess, but if you get here and you don’t work, man, everybody up here is just as good of an athlete, if not better than you. So, you better work your ass off if you’re going to be the best. Michael Jordan was the best because not only was he the best player, he’s the hardest worker. Jerry Rice was the hardest worker. Tom Brady is the hardest worker. You can go down list Kobe Bryant. You can name all the greats and all of them work their ass off on top of already having all that athletic talent. So, I think hard work goes a long way. I think it’s something that’s underestimated. Some of these guys get there and they just rest their lives because these guys that get to the NFL, they’ve always been the best. They were the best in high school. they are the best in, you know, college. When you get to the NFL, man, it’s it’s a lot, you know, it’s a lot tougher. These guys are just as good as you, if not better. So, you hard work goes a long long way in the NFL. And I I like to hear that Evan Neil’s working hard because, you know, there’s been thought that he didn’t work hard the last couple years. Like you mentioned, Anthony, he’s just kind of seem lackluster and and now he’s embracing it. So, it’s good thing. I’m I’m rooting for him because it would be a nice story and it would certainly help our team out and God knows we could use all the lineman that we could get. You know, we want Chris to be dreaming about another 300lb lineman. Hope he’s dreaming about Eanal. You know, my guy Bodto, what’s up, brother? Thank you so much. As normally I would ask dog to show balls, but since there’s a lady in the house, I’ll wait until dog after dark. Ah, don’t worry, Boto. Here you go. Show you my balls. I know a little something about bowling, baby. We just picked up this guy right here. This my Columbia Pulse. I just got this. It doesn’t come out till August 14th, but you know, I have connections. So, we go. We throw this shot of 269 with it because, well, this is the one damn thing I’m really good at. So, there you go. Bodto. That’s the newest one in the collection. My Columbia Pulse. I don’t want to ever How many How many bowling balls do you have? 39, I think. Oh my god. You’re gonna have a And 39. Yeah, I think I have 39 or 40. I don’t know. It’s It’s a lot. I got another one I got to pick up Saturday, but then I’m I’m done. I’m I’m done. I’m not call where you call it quits. Yeah. How often? Twice a week usually. Wow. Yeah. No, I bowled for many many many years when I was a kid and then I got back into it. I laid off for like 17 years. I got back into it in January and I just like I do everything else. I jump with both feet in the deep end. I don’t [ __ ] foot around. I’m going all the way. I’m not going at all. So, yeah. Too many bowling balls, but that’s what Moto’s talking about. I don’t ever want to disappoint Bodto and Tutoto. We don’t want to disappoint. Hey, he says, “Massive respects to New York Giants Italian media podcast and all dire Giants fans in America. Greetings from our entire rugby club and please smack and slap them stinky boys losers. Love to beat Philadelphia.” Good to see you, Tudo. Thank you for being here, buddy. It is good to see our guy, Tudo. I woke up today and chose violence against the Dallas Cowboys on Twitter. I had a good time with that. I can tell you. Dr. Garrett, thank you, brother. Our doctor, favorite Dr. Garrett, call me optimistic, but I think Neil could be a force at guard. Let’s go. Didn’t even read that. We were just talking about him. Let’s go. Neighbors for 1600 yards. You got the overunder. Uh Anthony, start with you. Over under 1,600. I know you have picked him to win the triple crown. Yeah, so I’m going over. I’ll take the over. He’s going to win the triple crown. He’s going over on that number more than likely. So, uh, uh, I mean, if he plays all 17 games, I think he’s going to be right around that number. I think he’s going to have a monster year. So, that’s really ballsy to predict over 1,600 yards because maybe two receivers will do that this year. Um, but if he plays 17 games, Dr. Garrett, I think he’s going to be right in that range. Anywhere from like 1450 to 1650. So, I think he’s gonna have a big year. So, I think that’s in his range if he could stay healthy. Roger. I took I took 1500 plus yards for him. So, no 1,600. It’s pretty close. I mean, like Chris said, if he plays all 17 games, I mean, and Russ is healthy. I think that’s the biggest thing, too. If Russ is healthy and plays well, like there’s no reason why he shouldn’t and our offense shouldn’t have like well over a 100red yards per game. But I was laughing when he was talking to Kay and he was saying like Scataboo better not take targets away from him. So now I’m like, “Oh [ __ ] is he right?” Yeah. Well, that’s tough. I mean, it’s a little less than 100 yards a game. Um, a lot have to go right for him to get 600 yards. That’s a lot of yards. But yeah, if if the Giants are in this thing and Russell Wilson is healthy the whole year and Malik Neighbors is healthy the whole year. I mean, Malik Dabvers had 1,200 yards last year and he missed two games and you saw the quarterbacks throwing him the football last year. I don’t think there’s any reason to think that he can’t go over 1,600 yards. Um, but that would mean that the Giants are playing really good football and that these guys are all healthy. So, if they’re all healthy, I don’t see why he can’t because there’s going to be a couple games, you know, he’s going to go off like he did against the Colts where he has, you know, 180 yards and he’ll have a couple of those games for sure. What I’ll say is this bad dog. If he has the same amount of targets per game that he had last year, which I don’t know if he will, they may look to spread the ball around a little bit more, but if he because he he’s I don’t remember what the numbers were, but I remember on a per game basis, he had by he led the league, I think, in targets per game in the NFL last year. If he is getting targets at that clip this year with more big play capability at the quarterback position, he’s going to hit that number if he stays healthy. That’d be great. We have one of them. My guy Louis T says it about Jane Daniels. We’ll say it about Mike Avers. We we got one of them ones. It’s just you just you can tell he jumps off the page. Yeah, we got one of them ones on defensive end, too. We’re talking about Abdul Carter. So, don’t don’t qu My god. I don’t know, man. I get a little giddy when it comes to an evening. Abdul Carter is insane. But I don’t think they’re alone on that. I think every Giants fan is giddy about him. Yeah. And Malik Neighbors is giddy about him. Of course. I think we all said over 1,600 if he plays 17 games, which is a huge if. Anony’s like 2,000 [ __ ] seeds. Like, uh, I mean, I said I I said I think he’s the best most talented wide receiver in the NFL. if he’s gonna lead the league in targets again this year, I think he’s going over that number if he stays healthy. I would love to see He did say to um Kay that he is hoping to break the reception record, which I think was Marvin Harrison’s senior in 2006, like 148 catches or something ridiculous like that. He had a lot. Yeah. Yeah. It was 206 targets. And last year, Malik had 170. So, if he’s got a quarterback who’s actually willing to throw the ball, he missed two games where Well, let’s hope so. Bob, thank you, brother. Says, “Non football question for Tain. How’s Papa G doing? Haven’t seen him in the streams. Say hi from Bob Wells and the entire Gman crew.” I will, Bob. Yeah, he’s he’s doing okay. I mean, I I haven’t talked to him in a week or so, but he’s he’s doing okay last I talked to him. He’s probably taking a break like I do during the dead times of the uh of the football season. But um I’m sure Bad Dog will be doing I didn’t talk to him yet about it, but I’m sure he’ll be doing the preseason game. So maybe uh Papa G will be in the stream for that. But uh yeah, he’s doing Last I talked to him, he’s doing fine. Yeah, he’s a legend. Papa Papa GO. And of course, yeah, I I agree. He’s probably just enjoying the summer. There’s not a lot of Giant stuff going on. I’m sure he keeps an eye on stuff, but when the football season comes, inevitably we’ll we’ll see him in the chat and he’ll be talking to me about how shitty the Yankees are, and I’ll be agreeing. What is going on with the Yankees, man? Holy Oh my god. Ryan Cash, man, going out there making these big moves like getting Austin Slater. It’s our this we’re his fifth team in the last two years. Big move. Spencer Jones is tearing the cover off the ball in TripleA, but we got to go get him. You know, Judge went on the IIL, so let’s not bring up Spencer Jones. Why would we do that? Go get Austin Slater. Is a career 236 header with no power. It’s perfect. That’s exactly what we need here. I don’t want to make it a Yankee show because I totally could. Don’t want to talk. I know. I could go on and on about [ __ ] Aaron Boon is want to talk about it. Um, graci. By the way, guys and girls, again, if you’re enjoying the show, do us a favor. Tudo says bad play defensive tackle somewhat in rugby union run stopper you may say I’m very disappointed with our current O line performances looks nothing improved or changed mate so he’s talking about the Giants offensive line in recent history to your prediction will probably be right I hope I hope you’re wrong though I hope you’re wrong but yeah big I mean to me the biggest question mark still is JMSs and the fact that he’s not getting positive reviews early on a little discouraging right you hoping the next year uh you know second year playing next to the suit that the two same guards he played to last year show some continuity that you would get be getting some positive reviews uh early on in camp. Not only are we not getting positive reviews, we’re getting a ton of negative reviews. So that to me so far has been the most disheartening part of camp, the fact that JMS is not getting good reviews so far. So he’s he’s a big question mark. To kind of piggy back off of that, um, Audren, how worried are you about the offensive line going into the year? I mean, we can say nice things about Evan Neil and he’s working hard, but I mean, how how concerned should we be as Giants fans about the old line? Because they really didn’t outside of drafting Marcus Bow and bringing in a couple of depth pieces. They really didn’t do anything huge to take a swing at that line. Andrew Thomas obviously will, it’s like a huge addition if you can say healthy, but how concerned should we be going into the year? I will say that I feel significantly better about James Hudson than I ever thought I would. So in the worst case scenario that if Andrew Thomas is not healthy and can’t play, I feel like, you know, James Hudson is light years better than Joshua Zudu. So we have that going for us. I I I think like Chris said, the biggest question mark is JMS. You know, he got blown up by Abdul Carter, which you know is to be expected, but Abdul Carter is not going to win every rep. Same thing with Burns and Tibido. So, you know, to see him get blown up like that, not great, but we haven’t really seen it happen since, right? So, I think, you know, the biggest question is we need to see him during preseason. How does he look during that? And can he improve during the season? Um, I think outside of him, the rest of the line, I think, is okay. Like, so many people, I think, forget that the offensive line was not that bad last year. Yes, game one was atrocious, but Daniel Jones was notorious for taking sacks that he shouldn’t have taken. And that first game was a mess for everyone. So, it’s not like the offensive line were the only people who decided not to show up that day. It was literally every player on the field. Outside of that, you know, they did a a decent job of protecting him the next few games until Thomas went down. So, you know, I think could it be better? Sure. Um, but I do think that if Thomas is good, I think they will be decent. And I think if Thomas gets injured, James Hudson is a way better update at left tackle than we’ve had in probably years. Like, ever since they tried to force Azudu, even moving Aluminina, you move him over. Well, yeah, okay, he maybe helps the left side, but then the right side’s a disaster. So, I think the fact that this starting five offensive line outside of Andrew Thomas is getting a lot of reps together is also going to be really helpful. So, I hope that it continues during the preseason. I know everyone’s like bubble wrap Andrew Thomas and Meique Neighbors and stuff, but I think this team needs to get off to a fast start, which means they have to play in preseason. They don’t have to play the whole game. They don’t have to play a full half, but they have to play together closer to when the season starts or I think game one is going to be a disaster. And that goes for the O line and everyone else. Yeah. Anthony, how concerned should we be about the O line going into the year? I think as Giants fans, we should always be concerned because even when we are positive about it and we are excited about the offensive line, it does find a way to disappoint us one way or another. It finds a way. Um, but honestly, I I’ve only heard good things about the offensive line so far through camp. Obviously, we’ve heard a lot about these pass rushers and how good they look, but you expect them to lose some of these reps against Abdul Carter, Brian Burns, Kavon Tibido, and Dexter Lawrence. That’s expected. Those are great players. Some of them are generational. Could be. At least we know Dexter is. Uh, but I read that Pat Leonard wrote, and Pat Leonard, notoriously negative about the Giants, will pick him apart anytime he has the opportunity to. He said the other day that the offensive line won more reps than it lost and it was actually the winner versus the defensive line a couple days ago at practice. So, I I’ve only seen positivity. Um, obviously JMS has lost some reps and they’ve gone viral because of the way that he’s lost them, but I read the practice report every day on Giants.com. John Schmelk. I know that it is straight from the Giants, so maybe there is an inherent bias there, but I feel like John Schmelk is pretty honest in his reporting. If a player’s not playing well, he’ll leave them out of the practice report. He said that John Michael Schmidz had some really good reps in one-on- ones yesterday. So, and I like John Schm. And maybe he hasn’t been great in every rep during the team drills, but if he’s making some progress in one-on- ones, I think that’s a positive. Plus, we all just talk talked about the positives that we’ve seen with Evan Neil. I think there’s a lot to be happy about with the offensive line. Again, it’s still early. Once we see them in the preseason, I think we’ll get a better sense of where they’re at and where they’re going to be. I don’t disagree with a lot of what you said. I think there’s reasons to be h excited or or more optimistic than in years past. I still think it’s by far the biggest question mark on this football team going into the year. Um, yeah, I agree with you, but that’s also because I have a big question mark about Andrew Thomas. Is he going to be healthy? Is he going to stay healthy? He’s the biggest question mark. And I think he is the most valuable player for the New York Giants because when he’s off the field, that offense historically just crumbles to bits and I don’t want to see that happen again. So hopefully he can be healthy this year. Yeah. Yeah. It I think it does hinge a lot on Andrew Thomas, but I think we could probably all agree and a lot of Giants fans would going into the season. I think that unit is probably the biggest question mark and maybe the secondary is the second biggest question mark. I think we’re pretty good with our wide receivers. I think we’re pretty confident in our quarterback. I know we’re confident with the front seven. I I think we should be. I think if you’re looking at this team and and trying to figure out where they really could use some help, where you’re really concerned, it is the offensive line because again, if they can’t protect Russ, uh Russ isn’t 25 years old anymore. And you know, you you just want to be able to protect him because, you know, if you can give him a you know, some time to throw it, he’s going to throw it. And he’s going to throw it with conviction. He’s going to throw it down the field and he’s going to make a play. But if he’s on his back pockets constantly, he’s not going to be able to do much. So, so hope the O line is better. I don’t think it could be worse, but I say that every year. I think I think they’ll be good in No, I I won’t use the term good. They won’t [ __ ] the offense if Andrew Thomas is healthy. That’s my mindset going into the year. If Andrew Thomas is healthy, it will be good enough where they’ll be able to sustain more drives than in years past. I I think it’s a sat slightly below satisfactory offensive line if I had to say, but it’s good enough where it’s I don’t think it’s it’s franchise crippling if Andrew Thomas is healthy, which goes back to Anony’s point. He has to be on the field. If he’s not, light lights out, the season’s over. You know, he he’s by far the most important player on the offense. So, nice nicely put by Chris. Yes, the offensive line is a concern. If if Andrew Thomas is healthy, it won’t [ __ ] the offense. This is where we are. Yes. Well, that’s why I know I I know it is it’s a big question. I mean, it’s a legit concern, especially if Andrew Thomas can’t say all the It is definitely a legit concern. Uh Jason, thank you so much. He says, “If Neil is healthy, he is a differencemaker in the run game. If he’s good in preseason, he will start and if decent, Shane will not let him walk.” I hope all of that comes true, Jason. I really do. I really do. What do you guys think? He has been decent in the run game so far with the run blocking. He’s been in with the ones and the twos. Um, so he has been pretty decent there. I think if he can be better at the pass blocking, he will beat out GVR. Um, I don’t I’d be curious to see him specifically versus GVR at this point in a run blocking standpoint because, you know, it’s hard to tell during practice, especially because they’re not tackling. But I think that during preseason is going to be really interesting to watch. But I agree with Jason that the O line sucks narratives if narrative is overstated. I think we all have PTSD from the offensive line. But I will just keep reiterating that obviously we don’t want want to lose Andrew Thomas, but James Hudson is light years better than Joshua Isudu. And I think that at the very least, like everyone should feel a little bit better about the fact that if, god forbid, Andrew Thomas is not ready to go week one. We have a a an upgrade at left tackle compared to last year, that’s obviously not Andrew Thomas, but he’s also not Joshua Zudu. Like I don’t I I just I can’t with Joshua Zudu. I can’t. And I saw him working at right tackle and he’s in with the threes and the fours. It doesn’t matter. He’s not going to make the roster. And I’m just like, for [ __ ] sake, give up the tackle position for Joshua Zudu. It is not for him. It’s unbelievable. If our old line is just average, I think we’re going to be a good football team. Yeah. Like they don’t have to be amazing. Yeah. Um again, he says, “Bad dog, Tana, I say what I see, mates.” And our jobs review all online ball carriers, no line taps and clips practice. hoping otherwise, but to us looks like the same old BSO line. I don’t I don’t think we disagree to though. We like I said, I think it’s the biggest concern. There wasn’t a ton of changes, like no major changes. They added depth and they drafted Bo. Um, but I and like Audria said, the the depth is better. James Hudson is significantly better. He’s a he’s a solid swing tackle. Um, that means he’s a solid backup though and replacing a a allp pro or near allp pro level talent like Andrew Thomas with a solid backup is still a monstrous uh loss if Andrew Thomas goes down. But I definitely agree with her point that he is a massive upgrade to Joshua at the tackle spot. It wouldn’t it would still be really bad. Our offensive line would be really bad if Andrew Thomas got hurt, but it wouldn’t be nearly as bad as it’s been in years past because Hudson is at least a a pro. is not a pro tackle. So, I agree with that. Yeah. Yeah. He’s he’s not going to be completely lost out there, you know, like uh Azudu was, you know, so it’s the way it is. I you know, Bornea made fun of me for being old. Audo’s out there. He’d be he’d be lost in the middle of nowhere. No jeep. He have to look at a road map. That’s what he would be looking at. You know, Bora probably don’t know how to read a road map. Born, you know how to read a road map? I can read a road map. But he would he would be totally lost. He he did he was just floating out in the middle of the ocean, man. No paddles, no rudder, no nothing. He was not a tackle. Like Audriiana said, he’s not a tackle. They forced him there. He’s playing completely out of position. He got embarrassed every week. And if if that’s where our depth was at that point, you know, we’re screwed. So the fact that they did bring in some depth pieces on a guy like Hudson that can at least play there at a satisfactory level and head and shoulders above Azudu, that’s great. Kind of like we talk about the quarterback position. Russ just needs to be average and that’s so much better than what we’ve had here the last few years. It’s monumental between just being near the bottom of the league at something and and being in the middle of the league at something. Um we’ll see. It’s hope Andrew Thomas is healthy. That would be huge huge for O line age 50. Thank you brother. He says the old line look good or looked better last year before Thomas went out. I agree. We just had an idiot. We just had an idiot a quarterback make them look bad. Can’t wait for this season. I know we’ve discussed it before, but one we’ll we’ll go around the panel really quick before we head out. Um Chris, how much can Russell Wilson help the O line, you know, with pre- snapper needs all blocking audles and all that stuff? Oh, definitely. I mean, I think the quarterback has it could only do so much, you know, like we saw Pat Mahomes in the Super Bowl when their offensive line was atrocious. He got destroyed against the Tampa Bay Bucks. If you have an atrocious O line, it’s going to show. But yes, I mean, look at Nate Solder, for example. Nate Solder was a near Pro Bowl tackle when he played with the New England Patriots. It helped that Tom Brady was his quarterback. You know, one of the best pre- snap quarterbacks in the history of the NFL. Look at the same thing with Aaron Rogers when he was in his heyday with the Packers. A lot of those guys were fifth, sixth round selections. He made them look like Pro Bowl level talent because he was able to read the line of scrimmage at a extremely high level. If you get a quarterback like a Russell Wilson who can do that, yeah, he’s going to make your offensive line look better, but you can only disguise so much. You know, if the if the line’s atrocious, a quarterback could only do so much, but it certainly, I think, will have an impact for sure in comparison to a guy like Daniel Jones. I don’t think anybody would uh uh argue that point that Russell Wilson is a much more accomplished quarterback in terms of being able to make pre- snap reads and adjustments for the offensive line. So, I think that should certainly help the line this year. Audrey, what do you think? Yeah, I agree. I think it’s not just the fact that he’s going to be able to help out the offensive line, but as a whole, he’s going to help out this offense. I know we all have talked about this, too. Like, they don’t have to be a top 10 offense in the NFL this year for them to win games to be a good football team. Like if they’re average, we’re in good shape. That’s all we need. And you know, I know we’re so used to having low expectations for this team, and if we have decent expectations, they all just get destroyed. But I think it’s it’s really fair knowing that the defense is really talented and should be much better this year. That we don’t need the offense to be, you know, top five in the league. We just need them. We need the offense to be the offensive line to be functional and we need Russell Wilson to be average above average, right? Is a good word. I like that word. That’s a good word. Like that’s it. I mean, there were so many times like do we need to talk about the Panthers game and the flea flicker? Like there’s a hundred opportunities that we could go back at and look at last year and say if any quarterback made 30%, not even 50%, but if they made like 30 to 40% of the throws that were not made last year, this offense would have been significantly better. I mean, you even look at the Bengals game, what week three or four that was, when we’re down 17-10 against the Bengals, who for the rest of the season averaged what, 30 plus points a game. Their defense was terrible. Yeah, I mean, we could have won that game if the offense scored one more touchdown and a field goal. Like, that’s it. You know, we don’t they don’t have to be the Bengals and put up 35 points a game. So, they just have to be a little bit better than last year, which is not hard. I like I know the schedule’s hard, but they were atrocious last year. Bottom of the league in literally everything. They just have to be average and we’ll be fine. Anthony, I know you’re a big Russell Wilson guy. How much does he help the offensive line uh by being Russell Wilson and being able to adjust pre- snap? I think he helps out a lot pre- snap. I think post snap he’s not as helpful as we probably want him to be. He does take a lot of sacks and he does invite a lot of pressure and sometimes he’ll escape that pressure and he’ll make a miracle miracle play. He did that a lot in his prime in Seattle. He’s not quite as good at it anymore. Um, and again, he does take a lot of sacks as a result of his age now, not being able to escape as often as he once could. But pre- snap, I think it changes everything. I think it’s going to be all the difference. I think a lot of the times the Giants were disorganized prior to the snap. I think a lot of times the quarterbacks didn’t know where to go with the football, weren’t able to read the coverages. And in fact, that actually reminds me, Malik Neighbors had an interview last week. I don’t remember who it was with, but I know that he was describing a moment during practice where he lined up at the line of scrimmage and he thought that he was facing zone coverage and so he wasn’t expecting to get the football. But Russell Wilson saw a tell in the the uh the defensive backfield and realized it’s actually man coverage and so then he fired a pass to Malik Neighbors. Neighbors wasn’t expecting it turned into a touchdown. Neighbors didn’t think he was ever getting football, but that’s the difference of a quarterback reading the field, recognizing the coverage and knowing where to go with the ball. a less experienced quarterback doesn’t see that tell, doesn’t make that throw, and neighbors doesn’t score that touchdown. So, I think it’s a big difference maker, and that’s getting neighbors of football, but that’s also helping out your offensive line because if you know what the coverage is pre- snap and you know where to go with the football, it’s going to come out on time. It’s going to result in touchdowns and it’s going to take away opportunities for the offensive line to mess things up. So, I think pre- snap it’s going to have a major impact. Postnap, we’ll see. But, you guys know I’m very high on Russell Wilson and I think him and Malik Neighbors are going to have a lot of fun this year. I think another thing that we could look at pre- snap is Anthony you mentioned how and we’ve seen this they’re they’re completely disorganized. They they don’t they don’t they’re like not on time. I think another thing Russ can do because of his ability to read pre- snap and get guys in the right position. It should cut down on pre-nap penalties. We we should not see as many false starts or how many illegal shifts did we have last year? How many illegal shift I I mean the Giants have like four of those in one game and I I mean I’ve never seen that. man down the field, right? Like all but so you you’re doing this stuff that the illegal shift is just the receivers just starting forward before the ball snap. That’s all it is. So the timing obviously was off on a lot of the stuff now. It doesn’t help that he had four quarterbacks under center. That certainly doesn’t help either because everybody’s cadence is different, but I think something like that where Russ gets the guys in the right spot and he makes sure everybody’s good to go before he snaps the ball should cut down on the pre- snap penalties. And we know, man, that’s killed us. Third down and one, you get a false starter. It’s third down and six. And that’s a huge difference. Or it’s second down and three, all of a sudden second down and eight. Those are big differences. So if you can knock some of those pre- snap penalties out of the way, too, that also goes a long way in succeeding and not shooting yourself in the foot because our offense is not good enough, even with these players, in my opinion, to overcome those type of mistakes. We’re not the Bengals. We’re not the Bills. We’re not the Eagles. We can’t take these type of penalties and then throw our way out of it. It’s just it’s not the way we’re built. So, I’m anxious to see that. It’s also going to help our game, too. I think I think it’s all correlates like he if if he’s able to read the defense better pre- snap than Daniel Jones could, he’s going to know when to audible in and out of run plays. He’s going to keep at a much higher rate. He’s going to keep the offense on schedule, right? You’re going to have more third third and manageables. So yeah, I I agree with Anthony that post snap he’s not mo as mobile as he once was of course, but pre- snap is where the where he’s going to have we’re going to have a significant upgrade at the quarterback position in terms of helping out the offensive line, getting the blow out quick, making the proper audible, being able to read the defense. That is arguably the most important thing a quarterback can do. Uh you know, everybody, you know, drools over the arm strength and certainly I do too. I love Josh Allen. Um but pre- snap reads is arguably the most important thing a quarterback can do. knowing what the defense is going to do and being able to combat it. So, uh, that’s going to be a massive upgrade and something we haven’t seen at the quarterback position since we had Eli Manning for sure. I mean, Russell Wilson’s a Hall of Fame quarterback. All right, so be before we get out of here. Uh, real quick, as you know, I turned 50 Sunday. So, big gift incoming. Big gift. Audriana, question for you. Which one of these watches am I getting? Someone asked me this on my Instagram today and I was like, “Oh, I have a lot of thoughts.” Oh, those are the those are the two choices. Those those are the three choices. Ei, can you can you zoom in on those? Bad dog. H I probably can. Hold on a second. I think the tank is so not you. Bad dog. I know somebody photo said the tutor is definitely me. Uh, but I don’t have a Panerai and that’s really the one that I’m eyeing. If it was me, I would pick the one on the left, the blue one. Yeah, that’s the Panerai. Yeah. And it’s I mean, you could wear it on Giants game day because it’s blue, you know? That’s true. Yeah. I freaking I like that. I wanted to get your opinion. I know you’re a watch person. Anthony, throw one out there. I mean, Paneris are Italian, too, if that makes any difference. That’s my All right. Perfect. All right. With that said, we’re gonna get out of here. 1. Really love Adriana and her energy, and her takes…. Constructive criticism that mic is in your cheek… lower it and speak into it…. Love this whole group

  2. I think people don’t remember that Jaimis (sp) is the backup. Nabers could hit that number without Wilson playing 17 games… look what he was working with when he got his numbers numbers last year

  3. I can't remember having a QB who could slide. Jones was terrible about sliding, and I just held my breath every time Eli left the pocket. I guess Tyrod was decent at it but he got hurt alot as well.

  4. respectfully disagree- Runyan and Neal will start opening day @ Guard and GVR will be the top tier back up that champions have ready on their bench ,…. 2 cents

  5. i feel like i used to be one of those fans who buy into the hype but idk man i think last season just ruined it for me. i gotta see it to believe it now
