J.J. McCarthy plays START, SIT, CUT: Minnesota Vikings legends edition 👀 | SportsCenter

Meanwhile, with 50 states and 50 days in Minnesota, we turn to Vikings camp. JJ McCarthy is your new starting quarterback. The 22-year-old missing the entire rookie season, as you know, with a knee injury, has looked, well, reports say, like a rookie so far, great at times, inconsistent at other times. Now, due to his injury last season, he was the fourth quarterback since 2000 to be drafted in the top 10 and not actually start any games in his rookie season. of the previous three to do so, none of them actually finished their second season with a winning record. And that includes Philip Rivers. He didn’t even start a game. So for more on the Vikings and their QB, we go back to L in Minnesota. So JJ, we are celebrating your adopted state now of Minnesota. What to you has been the most surprising part about stepping into the state’s football culture? I would say exactly that, the football culture. These fans are so passionate and, you know, so excited every single game, every single season, and, you know, I expect it to be a total hockey state, but they’re obsessed with their football, and I appreciate it greatly. Have you at any point had your oh my goodness, I am the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Minnesota Vikings moment yet? You know, I really haven’t. you know, at the end of the day, it it doesn’t really matter because at the end of the day, it just matters about, you know, taking that responsibility and, you know, the coaches and the players put so much trust in me and just making sure I do my job on a daily basis to, you know, help this team succeed in any way it can. So, you haven’t changed like your social media profiles. It doesn’t say that like I am the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings. No, ma’am. Look at him. He has a professional through and through. Um, this is obviously your first year starting, but this is not a team that is rebuilding. So, how do you approach keeping the standard that has been set here while also recognizing that you’re going to grow and learn in this role? I feel like, you know, KO, he set the standard, you know, our way, our team, our process. And, you know, how can we be the most connected, consistent, resilient, and relentless team possible, and I just try to come in here every day and play my role. All right. You know this by now. There’s a lot of cliches that are thrown around when it comes to football. One of them is building trust with your receivers. But JJ, what does that actually look like apart from just learning the kind of routes that they want? You know, it’s building the trust on the field, but most importantly off the field. You know, developing those relationships, those intimate relationships that, you know, lead to success on the field and, you know, just getting with them after practice, playing games with them, and, you know, just sitting with them at lunch. All the little things where you could just bond and grow off the field. All right, I’m going to let you off the hook here, but I’m going to kind of put you on the spot because we are celebrating Minnesota. Two quick Minnesota questions for you. Are you ready? More difficult to navigate, Zero Blitz or the Mall of America? Flo Zero Blitz. Yes, but the Mall of America is Yeah. extensive for sure. All right. And I’m going to put you on the spot. We’re going to do start, sit, cut. Vikings Legends edition. Start, sit, cut. Fran Tarkington, Randy Moss, Adrien Peterson. I mean, you got to start Randy. One of the greatest of all time. I got to go with my guy Fran. You got to bench him then. I’m sorry AP. Got to cut you. But no, no deserving of that at all. At all. You navigated that incredibly well. I appreciate it. Thank you so much JJ. Thank you. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music]

  1. After working in marketing and advertising for over 20 years, whoever came up with that tag, "50 states in 50 days" is a complete incompetent individual. There's LITERALLY not even 50 teams in 50 states, TOTALLY stupid. I get the alliteration aspect of it, but how about 50 cities in 32 days etc. JUST REALLY dumb to use that title!

  2. Mahomes drafted 2017 at number 10, only played one game, next season he was mvp. That graphic was so misleading in so many ways because of little technicalities.
