I was an Oakland fan. Miller was all we had that last year (plus Butler and Rooker).
He is a beast and I am very excited. This is a big deal, and I’m very excited. Losing De Vries sucks but that’s the price these days.
I think the only way this trade is works out for us (besides the obvious WS win) is if Ruben Niebla can successfully make Miller into a starter again. He can be prime Jacob DeGrom as a starter for sure but durability is gonna be a huge question mark. Heck durability is gonna be a question mark for Miller even as a reliever. For now tho, I don’t feel so good
We are only 4 games back from the best record in baseball. This is very much a move to contend this season.
1) Move Morejon to CL and use Miller as late relief
2) Trade Cease now that we have Sears. Similar performance but Sears makes about $13MM less and is also pre-arb
3) Trade Suarez for prospects
At least get Shea man wtf

Honestly feels like the reverse of the Tatis trade. Except more like after Tatis was already at the top of the rankings.
This might turn out to be an even crazier there-is-no-tomorrow trade deadline than keeping Soto, Snell, and Hader in 2023. And that one can be explained by doing everything possible to win a WS before Seidler died.
Anything short of getting to the WS and this is a bad trade.
