CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College football team and their conference-high six preseason All-Pioneer Football League honorees started the fall camp schedule on Thursday morning at the practice fields adjacent to Bailey Memorial Stadium.
Clad in helmets and shorts for the first sanctioned team activity of the new season, fourth-year head coach Steve Englehart and staff directed the Blue Hose to a two-hour practice session that included numerous offensive sets and no-contact drills.
“We’ve got more veterans on this roster than any other season so far as we continue to take this program up to new levels”, commented Englehart at practice’s end. “Because the majority of our team is so experienced, today was very business-as-usual in our approach.”
“Right now, the focus is to get a little bit better with each day. Our new challenge is to manage some expectations that were put in our direction because of how we finished last season. So that momentum needs to be sustained as we push to improve upon what’s already been built.”

All fingers are pointed to PC’s first game of the 2025 season, a trip to reigning Southern Conference champion Mercer on Saturday, August 30. The Blue Hose will then resume a Palmetto State feud the next weekend when visiting Furman, which will be Presby’s first contest against the Paladins since 2014.
Quarterback Collin Hurst, wide receivers Dominic Kibby and Cincere Gill, running back / kickoff returner Zach Switzer, defensive lineman Carter Szydlowski, and defensive back Caleb Francis were all deemed preseason All-PFL by conference officials on Tuesday afternoon.
Coach Englehart will lead his crew to the home opener on September 13 against Erskine, part of a three-game stand at Bailey Memorial that also includes matchups with Bluefield and Morehead State.
PC will continue early-morning practices throughout the month of August, putting pads on for the first time on Wednesday, August 6. They’ll hold full intrasquad scrimmages on August 9, 16, and 20.
