Minnesota Vikings Training Camp Notes Day 7 – The Defense Dominates (Again)

[Music] What’s going on, Jeromes? Day seven train rollong wrong long down the line. Uh but day seven for the Minnesota Fine Vikings practice. Talk about practice is in the books. Uh second pad of practice and you know McCarthy talked about how it’s a learning experience every single day. There’s a lot of lessons to be learned today because the defense was just absolutely bap leap dominant yet again. And I’m not worried about the offense, right? You obviously the offense doesn’t have Justin Jefferson. Uh defense always has the edge over offense at the beginning of training camp, but I think it just says more about this defense. Like this D I feel like like we can’t even comprehend how good this freaking defense is gonna be. My god. Marone. So, you know, the fact that, you know, JJ McCarthy probably won’t be facing a defense as good as he does every single day in practice can only benefit him. It could only be hugely beneficial uh for the Vikings, but it’s rough. And I I understand like the haters and losers like, “Oh, oh, JJ McCarthy is the best. B Kevin McConnell.” No, I I think it says way more about Flores in this defense, man. But couple takeaways. Uh second full day in pads. They were in shows yesterday. First pad of practice was Monday. Uh Darasaw and Fries they returned. So uh they both rotated in 11 on 11s. First time that Darasaw has been doing that. Uh but rotating through overall like first team offensive line together for the first time. It’s fantastic. It’s really good. Uh easing him easing Darasaw back into that work. I think eventually we’ll balance the scales. I think towards the end of training camp I I think it would be more evenly matched, right? Even if Jefferson does not get backed, but the defense defense just whoops somebody’s ass. Defense was just after it. And standouts, you could list every single Vikings defensive player basically. But Byron Murphy Jr. was in there uh breaking up passes, getting tackles for loss in the back field off of uh off of the slot. Uh Javon Hargrave, Javon Hargrave might be the story of camp so far. Well, one of them certainly were Har just having an interior pass rusher, someone who can get their own rush as well as Hargrave. So, he’s been lining up intermittently at the nose as well as, you know, there’s some snaps where he basically just absorbs the center like he he forklifted Ryan Kelly today. So, sort of gave you uh sort of gave you flashbacks to Garrett Bradberry, but Hardrave, man, Hard Grave is going to be good. Hard Grave is going to be fantastic. Jonathan Allen uh has been having some nice reps, too. Hargrave and Diamond Dallas turn already have their own sack celebration together. It’s good to see, right? Uh Diamond Dallas was has been flying around, honestly. Uh should have had a couple of sacks, well, simulated sacks all up in there. AVG has just been flying around doing AVG type things, but just instant pressure in 11 on 111’s work. McCarthy tough to get a rhythm uh against this defense. Uh and also N Mclawurn yet again. Three practices in a row for Mike Yo. He had an interception. Uh this one a pick six off Max Broner. Each quarterback actually had an interception today. It it was kind of rough. But also carry on my Jayward son. Uh one one of the people who had one of the defenders who had a interception day. His was off of JH McCarthy. Also broke up another pass. Been working primarily as second team safety. Also got some first team reps. So it’s important to note. also got some first team reps uh yesterday when Harrison and Mattelis were uh out with a veteran day, right? Also, I mean, offensively, there are some nice takeaways. I mean, the McCarthy and Addison chemistry is real, right? And also, you know, Addison and Akuda, who’s clearly been with the first team offense, I feel like that that’s a good battle. I feel like uh Akuda’s making Addison better and vice versa. It’s good to see, but the nine and three connection, it’s going to be legit. And without Jefferson uh out there, I mean, Addison’s going to have, you know, cornerback want attention, wide receiver want attention, and that that connection is going to be important. So, this is basically what we’re missing out on is Jefferson and McCarthy may start the season a little bit slower than usual, but Addison out for the first three games, getting these reps in now, it’s really important. Plus, you know, JJ does move and throw well on the run. Same thing with Max Brazmer, by the way. And and we talked about earlier today that maybe there’s some concern at the backup quarterback spot because how has not straight up not been taking care of the football. Ripen is sort of limited, but I feel like you could make a legitimate case that Bromer has been the second best quarterback in Vikings training camp and I I don’t think that it’s that crazy. Now, yes, Bromer has been mainly going up against the threes, but he’s been working with the threes and the fours, right? So, uh that that’s something to keep in keep in mind. Also, uh, Giovana Reesei is also making some plays, too. It’s going to be good. But overall, this defense, man, and again, this is probably the best defense that Jay McCarthy is going to face all season, but they are racked up and stacked up. They’re pissed off for greatness. They that this front seven, honestly, you you almost don’t want to say it. You You have to whisper it. This defense could be legit. And we said like, hey, maybe maybe they’re not a shutdown defense like the 85 Bears or 2000 Ravens. Maybe they’re more like the 2015 Broncos that won Gary Kubak a Super Bowl. Maybe they’re more like the, you know, 2002 Bucks, uh, where, you know, not stylistically wise, but, uh, they’ll get pressure with four. Uh, now the pressure, which four are coming also, they’ll get turnovers, they’ll score off of turnovers, they’ll do a lot of things, right? But again, I I I like that we’re not too down or negative about the offense because, you know, the early training camp goes to the defense, of course, and first team offensive line is finally getting their stuff together. You know, first time they’ve been together all season. Darasaw easing his way back in. Same thing with Fry. No, Justin Jefferson. Um, you know, JJ McCarthy first training camp purely with the ones, but also this defense, man. Right. I I would be pissed if this defense was going to be bottom third of the league and McCarthy was struggling. But no, this defense has a chance to be top two and there won’t be two if you know what I’m saying. It’s going to be good. Uh anyways, your thoughts are thoughts. Um news and notes Vikings train camp day seven day off tomorrow. Back at it Friday, Saturday you guys are the best you to do. Skull production value. Hey, hey, hey.

  1. Dwight McGlothern is Crazy Got His 3rd Straight Interceptions in the 3 Days of the Minnesota Vikings at Training Camp for Lockdown Cornerback Number 31 Khyree Jackson and I think KJ would been jumping all over Dwight McGlothern with having Team Defense Players Celebrations Together and Khyree Jackson would been here going at it with Interceptions To Again. I Love it Dwight McGlothern is insane ran across the field to give Justin Jefferson the ball. That's tells me Dwight McGlothern is definitely making it to the roster list plus I wish this was regular season games with having Dwight McGlothern going with straight interceptions every week and having 4 interceptions from the defense would been nice to be in the regular season games πŸ’œπŸ’›πŸ€πŸˆ with the Celebrations. It looks like we might be seeing a lot of trash talks from Dwight McGlothern after Wide Receivers in the games.

  2. But can Flo finally beat Ben Johnson or Sean McVey?

Hope to hear JJ is imlroving as camp goes on…… I'm gonna eat a lot of crow if he doesn't work because I was hoping for him from the start…..
