Marlins vs. Cardinals Game Highlights (7/30/25) | MLB Highlights

Big news happened before first pitch. The Cardinals traded Ryan Hley to the New York Mets for three minor league prospects. For the Cardinals, it’s Miles Michaels against Miami. He’s 4-1. He’s never lost at home here at Bush Stadium against the Marlins. Switch hitting second baseman Xavier Edwards batting left-handed. And that one stroke to center and Victor Scott measures that up with a sliding catch. Edwards a bullet and add a ball for out number one. So Jesus Sanchez the right fielder told for his last 12. 0 for seven in this series. That one cracked out to left center field. Herrera on the move. He won’t get there. That one hops the wall to the opposite field. Lefty Matt Sanchez cruising into second and he’s got a one-out double here in the top of the first. And here is Augustinine Ramirez, their catcher. Ramirez lines one through the right side. Sanchez had to hold up and he’ll stop at third. And that another hard hit baseball. And there runners at the corners for Kyle Sters. He’s been the hottest Marlins hitter. Sevengame hit streak and strike three. Borderline pitch. Michael has got it. And Sters is out looking. Here’s Otto Lopez. Lopez two out of seven in the series with a run batted in. The pitch by Miles is swung on and the ball’s hit in the air down the right field line. Here’s Walker coming on in fair ground. He makes the catch. The Marlin Strand runners at first and third. Top of the second, no score. Miles Michaelis needed 18 pitches to get through a scoreless first. He stranded men at the corners. Two- two pitch is caught on a missed. He pulled off that baby. And Michael has his second strike out. It’s Eric Bberto Hernandez. Hernandez got the day off yesterday. Swinging a miss. Backto back strikeouts. Hernandez is out number two with two outs. Here is Graham Paulie. He hits this one in the air left center field. In comes Scott calling off Herrera and Scott makes the catch. You take it. One, two, three. The Marlins are out in the second. No score. One up, one down. Myers, the nine man out. And now back to the top and Xavier Edwards. That one lined into right center field. That’s in for a base hit. Scott comes around it and he picks it up with the backand for tossing an in. X took big turn at first but now retreats and he’s got a one-out single. Well, Jesus Sanchez coming to the plate. He’s already one for one tonight against Miles Michael. Now three for eight in his career. There’s a fly ball in the air, belted right center field and deep. See you later, Jesus Sanchez. And on Michael’s 40th pitch, the Marlins strike first. Two-run homer for Sanchez. Number 10 on the year. And 439 feet later, it’s two nothing Marlins. In the end, there’s two away. Ground ball. Nice play by Berles. Up, over, and out. Good play by Alec Burles to get the final out of the inning. Great play by Alec Berles, diving to his forehand and taking a single away from Kyle Sters. Calantro starting the bottom of the third inning. Career-wise against the Cards. Cal shoves. Five appearances, two starts, 2 and 0. A 0.56 RA over 16 innings pitch. He went around. Yes, he did on the check swing. So Jay-Z goes down swinging. That’s Quantrol’s first punch out tonight. Two nothing Marlins after the Sanchez homer. And here is strike three called to Dane Meyers. One down in the fifth. Savior Edwards is the batter. He singled and scored ahead of the Jesus Sanchez third inning homer. Stringing his together has been tough. Nice jumping short by Saji. He read that well and darted to his right. Edwards lines out. Two-way. Here’s a chopper to the first baseman. Fair. That’s fielded by Berles who makes a nice backhand play. One, two, three inning for Michael. He’s set down the last six that he’s seen. Cal Quantrol turning in at least to date maybe his best start of the season. He’s got 12 outs on 44 pitches. And there’s called strike three. That’s a beautiful back door sinker and locks up Poso. And there’s one away. One down in the Cardinal fifth inning for Jordan Walker. Here’s a ground ball right side right field. A base hit for Jordan Walker. The third Cardinal hit tonight, the first out of the infield. So Walker steals the base. That’s his fourth. Backto back walks. And with one out, Quantrol now has the bases loaded and an Allstar coming to the batters box. Donovan was 0 for 19 before he whistled one off the pitcher’s glove. That snapped that hitless streak. Called strike three. A sinker at the knees at 97 mph. Donovan can’t believe it. But that is a huge punchy for Quantrol. There are two men gone. The lefties have had a little luck against Quantrol. The righties have smoked him. It’ll take a two out hit from Herrera here. That one a bouncing ball over to second. X has got it. He locks it to first. It’s caught by Johnston and that ends the inning. A fired up quantrol off the hill and he strands the bases loaded. Surgical through four and he digs deep to get through five. Scoreless. Two men gone in the sixth. A swing and a miss. Strength three on Lopez. And Michaelis with a 1, two, three, six. He set down the last nine of the Marlins. Well, it was not a quality start, but it was five quality shutout innings from Calantrol tonight. Nelly. Three hits, two walks, three strikeouts. Worked out of that huge jam in the fifth. And here comes Tyler Phillips who will face Berles. Q shot that might turn to gold. Phillips with a bare hand. Oh throw has no chance. And the flying feet of Alec Berles earned him another infield hit. So Phillips now seeing Wilson Contrus who’s 0 for two. Ground ball up the middle. Edwards to Lopez to Johnston. Double play goes 463. Long Q Kyle. How about that? DP X to Otto to Johnston. There are two men gone. The base is empty. O2 is spun onto the outside edge. A perfect sweeper and Phillips locks up Aronado and Joel Poso going to lead things off against Tyler Phillips who faced the minimum in a scoreless six. That is a fair ball backhanded by Paulie. Long throw to first. Oh wow, Graham Paulie. That was incredible right there. You watch where he’s playing. He’s well off the third base line. He goes into foul territory. What a throw. What a stretch. Cardinals haven’t scored since the seventh inning of the first game. They’re working on a 17in scoreless streak. In July, the Cardinals have been shut out six times. And there’s your first base runner. So, one on, nobody out. Herrera 0 for three. 0 for eight in the series. Swung on it. Missed. Strike three. Got him with a sweeper for the first out of the inning. That’s going to be it for Phillips. Here comes Ronnie Enriquez. All four tables set for St. Louis. Two aboard, one out. And Contras coming up. Called strike three. 97 at the knees and on the inside corner. Two down for Nolan Aronado. Nolan one for three tonight. Aronado called out on strikes in the sixth inning. Only his fourth strike out this month. Is cut on and missed. Good sweeper from Ronnie and he strands two. Runners stay put at first and second. Enriquez came on. He walked the lead off man, but he ced the next two. On for the save is Calvin Foscher looking for his 10th save. Joel Poso 0 for three so far tonight. Up the middle. Lopez dives. He’s got it. Spins, fires, picks it. Got him. What a play by Otto Lopez. Another ridiculous play taking a base knock away from Joel Poso. Here’s Jordan Walker with the Cardinals down to two outs. Fast ball right down the middle of the plate. Called strike three. And a frustrated Walker taps the end of the bat in frustration on the plate. The last time the Cardinals have been shut out in backto back fashion at home. Got to go back to 2022. So JC’s reached base twice. He’s walked in single in the air to right. Sanchez is over. He’s got it. Back-to- back shutouts for the Marlins in their first series win in St. Louis since 2018. They’ve rattled off five consecutive series in a row and they’re headed home with a record of 52 and 55. Look at the last 11 series. Nine wins for the Fish.

  1. Another series win, this is statistically our toughest scheduling of the season rn.. but we are playing great team ball.. winning these low score games… bullpen been amazing.

  2. Thursday is going to be a very long day for Cardinals fans. The sell-off has begun. Upper management is so desperate to clear payroll you might see Nolan Arenado get traded for a bucket of baseballs. This team is going to look a whole lot different come Friday morning.

  3. You guys couldn't win a series if your life depended on it. I'm losing respect for this team and will not be attending any more games with marmol as manager.
