Let’s start right here with this match up between Athletics and the Diamondbacks. Now, this is a tricky one because the Arizona Diamondbacks were supposed to start Mel Kelly here. Mel Kelly shipped to the Texas Rangers near the end of the trade deadline. So, no starter confirmed for the Arizona Diamondbacks at the time this video is being recorded. I have seen Jacob Lopez listed as the starter here for the Athletics. Hopefully we’ll be able to update this information for you as uh as the day progresses on Friday um especially at least in our morning show and you know we’ll go with what we have what I have seen here and that’s Jacob Lopez tabbed as the starter for the athletics and Lopez has been a solid option. There’s been a couple starts this season where Lopez has kind of been a little bit shaky and, you know, you know, had some bumpy outings, but I mean, last time out, four and a third innings of two hit shut out ball with four strikeouts. He struggled with control. He gave up four walks in that outing as well. But I think he can still be a solid option here. This is a pitcher Lopez who still has a 3.62 ERA and with at home and with how hitter friendly Steinbrer uh pardon me, not Steinbrerfield, Sutter Health Park. mixing up my minor league ballparks, but how hitter friendly Sutter Health Park has been this season in A’s games, you can maybe understand why there could be some concern for Jacob Lopez in the start against the Diamondbacks lineup that had been hitting fairly well against left-handed pitching since the All-Star break. However, they’ve started to dip a little bit. They’re now at 231 in terms of batting average since the All-Star break. Bottom five in baseball. The team OPS numbers are bottom 10. And that was with some of the bats they had in that lineup. most notably a Yoheno Suarez who got moved to Seattle um you know at the trade deadline. So this is just a uh a Diamondbacks lineup that have quickly become sellers and you know I think are just sort of playing for next year. We’ve seen that in you know a lot of the moves they made at the deadline and I think that now we’re going to start seeing it you know play out on the field as well. You know this is not the same Arizona Diamondbacks team that we were making money with earlier in the year. the the Athletics made a couple of moves as well, but this and and they traded away guys like JP Sears, Mason Miller, but I don’t think that’s going to hurt them in this game. Maybe Miller because he was your closer. You trade away a guy like Migueland Duhar who started to pick up his offense lately, too. But I still think that, you know, the some of the parts remaining are still greater for the Athletics here. I think at home they can they can get the job done in this one.
