Surprise! Perry didn’t think the offers were good enough

We got low balled
Yet another trade deadline where Perry overvalued his rentals and instead of humbling himself and working on deals that can help out our team with actual PIECES to build a future on, he instead punts the future for some intangible “well they are going to play meaningful games now”
Gotta love the boys getting fired up at another losing season as like 1/3rd of our roster is getting turned over for nothing at the end of the season LOL
We all watch Tyler Anderson pitch, who would give up decent prospects for him? The Cardinals DFA’d Eric Fedde.
IF we make that damn postseason, this will be pretty funny
It’s hard to be competitive when everyone else in the division improved while the team is struggling to get to .500. Would’ve been a good time to sell the rentals at least to be somewhat competitive in the future
Everyone is shitting on this but what did you expect them to do when literally none of our guys were being talked about as major trade pieces?
It IS important for these young guys to get meaningful games late into the season. They are still growing as MLB players and are actually ahead of schedule and playing pretty well. We filled a few holes in a taxed bullpen which will continue to help us win close games.
Most of our games are against teams ahead of us. It’s not likely but at least it should lead to some fun games down the stretch.
Arte is an asshole and deserves all the hate he gets. I hope he sells the team but he isn’t. It’s never going to be run like a good franchise because it never has. Maybe someday it will get better but right now we don’t have much to look forward to except times like this when our team is actually a bit relevant and not mathematically eliminated before Aug 1st.
So until we are completely eliminated I’m just gonna enjoy watching the boys fight and hopefully get better. See if Trout can stay healthy for the rest of the year and try to bounce back next season.
We all know this is fucking horseshit. Youre telling me Jansen wasnt getting a decent package
I was skeptical on whether we could get any meaningful value back for Ward, Anderson, or Rengifo, but I still think we whiffed this trade deadline because we didn’t send out Jansen and added three players who won’t move the needle. Not like Eder, Brown, or de Pena were valuable prospects or anything, but we just hovered in the doldrums while other teams made splashes around us.
Sure, Jansen is expiring and on the older side, but we also saw comparable relievers (both this trade deadline and in 2024) get pretty good returns. We were beneficiaries of that last year, with 6 acceptable to great prospects in our farm to show for it (well, Zef has graduated from that but you get my point).
I think our biggest fight is going to be if we can end over .500. Being a part of the playoff race has been and will continue to be an afterthought.
Not good enough
Option A: Trade all your Wards for Buttreys, collapse in August, add 2 career WAR to your future, turn off FAs, become the Browns.
Option B: Acquire a couple free relievers, finish the season strong, probably miss the playoffs, possibly win the WS, attract FAs, become a dynasty.
Option C: Go all in, maybe give up a Segura at worst, probably still miss the playoffs, finish strong, attract FAs, become a dynasty.
There was only one wrong choice, but they made the best choice.
He said the same thing last year and it’s hard to believe when we got good returns for Estevez and Garcia last year and teams like Boston and San Diego were overpaying big time this year
The players we could have traded didn’t have enough value. Probably best to keep them and keep the hope alive than trade them for below value players and throw away the rest of the season
I think many on this team want to try and win together. At this point I’m down with it honestly. I don’t think Jansen wanted to go. That last post-game interview.. seemed like he hinted at wanting to stay.
I’m skeptical that they couldn’t get anything worth file for at least Jansen. He obviously would land someone like DeVries like Mason Miller did, but playoff teams are always buying relievers and would’ve paid decently for someone with Jansen’s ability and history
“august-september” is hilarious as the GM 😭 he knows we’re not playing in october
He says this every year like literally lol
That’s fair. You want us to sell our good players for players that won’t make the majors? That sounds like a waste to me. Rather just extend the ones we want to keep
I really am curious as to what Minasian was expecting. Jansen could get you a decent prospect, Anderson would get you a low level player that you could hope to develop. Of course, Ward would net you the biggest package. I just don’t know what him or Arte were looking for.

He *would* say that. Exactly how Arte would want him to spin it.
It is fucking exhausting to read over and over the analysis of “Angels didn’t try” from a legion of people who weren’t in the room or on the phone calls.
Try to cognate what Minasian said: He didn’t see the point in making holes in the roster and swapping out for A/AA talent. His goal was to field the best team possible so the younger players have a better chance to win nightly. He’s more concerned with the psyches and development of Neto, Moore, et al for the long term than a short term gutting of the veterans that makes the team even worse for the next two months.
Spoiler alert: the games in August and Sept will not be meaningful.
He really asked AI how to spin a failure of a trade deadline to the fanbase
Rather just lose guys for nothing than get something…
Translation: “Our assets are shit”
This is exactly how it played out and it’s so hard for fans to understand lol
Blew it… Getting even a few pieces, even if only to use them as trade fodder next year, would have really helped the 2026 team… Now we get nothing and a team still going nowhere.
