Rays vs. Yankees Game Highlights (7/31/25) | MLB Highlights

But today, of course, is the final day of the month of July. And it’s 6 p.m. tonight. We will have the trade deadline in Major League Baseball. It’s been kind of a mixed bag for Marcus. You look at his last start, was not able to get out of the fourth inning against the Philadelphia Phillies. However, the previous two starts threw the ball well against the Mariners and the Braves. One, two from Strowman. Swing and a miss and a breaking ball down and end. Good start for Marcus Strowman. going down. Opposing hitters now just 1 for9 against the split. Diaz, one of those players on the Rays that will be hitting refresh on his phone cuz a lot of desire for him. Oh, look out. That’s that’s not even a foul ball. Is that an out? Well, it’s picked up there by Strowman who makes the play at first, but uh Chad Witson has indicated Yandi was hit by that pitch. That was a strange play. All right, so two out runner at first. The batter is Jonathan Arun. swing on. Popped up left side. Long run for McMahon and Dominguez. Dominguez has a bead in fair territory. Makes the catch. Nicely done. So the hit batter hurts Diaz, but it doesn’t hurt the cause of Strowman in the Ryan Pepio could not have been much better against Cincinnati. Two unearned runs over six. He has been a hard luck pitcher out there over the last three starts. Earned on average of about two and a half during that stretch and three Rays losses. Hi papa. Walls does not see it. Does Simpson see it? Does anybody see it? No, it’s a double for Goldmith. He doesn’t see it. And the wind’s blowing in today at Yankee Stadium. Almost 8 to 10 mph in. You can see there’s no chance now. Cody Bellinger. Bellinger. That big triple in extra innings. Fight the season. Going on. Head up the middle. Face hit. Here comes Goldmith coming around third. The Lucas throw going to be cut off. And Cody Bellinger does it again. RBI single. One- nothing Yankees here in the first. That’s RBI number 63 for him. Just seems like Bellinger does something every game to help his team win. You know, the the Yankees looking for offense, looking for guys to step up with Aaron Judge on the IIL and you’ve had John Carlos Stanton swinging the bat. Well, drill deep to left field. There it goes. See you into the left field. Bleachers. A moon shot by Stanton. It’s three nothing Yanks. We’ve got like a gale force coming right in from center field. So he hit that that would have gone to the back wall if this wind weren’t blowing out. 432 ft. Little under 112 mph up the back. That is a long way. Anytime you reach the bleachers to left field here, that’s a problem. Kevin Cash is talking about, hey, you got to throw strikes at these guys. He talked about the Yankees being one of the most patient teams he’s seen. So two straight walks. Yankees have first and second and back to the top of the lineup. Rice had some great at bats last night. Long at bats, battling couple of big walks. Driven out to deep right field. There it goes. See youa into the Yankee bullpen. A threerun blast and the Yankees lead 6 nothing. What did he lean on that Big Ben? His 16th home run takes the RBI count to 35. No doubt about it. Got a six nothing Yankee lead. Top of the third. Taylor Walls shortstop leads off. swing and a miss. Top of the zone, a breaking ball and that’s a third strike out for Marcus Strowman. Chandler Simpson top of the order. Right back to Strowman. Fields his position beautifully and he works a one two three inning. He is retired. Seven in a row is not allowed to hit through three. You know, we’ve got an issue out there at left field. Kevin Cash out with Chandler Simpson. That little comebacker to to Strowman to to finish off that top of the third. You think it had to be probably something involved with that. swinging the bat. Looked at his hand, his wrist. Well, he’s going to leave the game. Little hand issue at bat in the top of the inning and ended the inning. Yeah, that’s something not sitting well at all. Jake Bangam is going to replace him in left field. Dominguez with a base hit. Here come the Yankees again. Runners at the corners. One out here in the third with a six nothing lead. Here’s Austin Slater for his second Yankee AV. Young man 32 years old out of Jacksonville, Florida. Ground ball third. Double clutch. There’s one on the first, not in time. That allows Chisum to score and it’s 7 nothing Yankees as Slater picks up his first Yankee ribby. Well, the Rays have had one base runner. It was Yandi Diaz who was hit by a pitch. There’s a base hit line the other way. Brandon Laauo picks up the Rays first hit of the game to lead off the fourth. So, we’ve had Chandler Simpson leave with some sort of hand issue and Yand Dia has hit on the forearm departing. We’re not sure if it’s that or the score or anything else. Is Christopher Morell in to hit for him. There’s a high shot back into deep left. That’s got good carry. Got a chance to get out. That’s going to be off the wall. Bounding out into shallow left. They’re going to wave loud to the plate. Now he stumbles and puts on the brakes to hold at third. The Rays offense starting to show a little bit of life here. There’s Jonathan Ronda with second and third. Nut out. the infield bat. Swinging a line drive and a right. That’s a base hit for Jonathan Heronda. That will score. Brandon Laauo with the Rays first run. Throw comes all the way to the plate. Aronda holds it first. Up to third. Morell. And the Rays have three straight hits and now on the board trailing seven to one in the fourth inning. So after three near perfect innings for Strowman, the Rays have gotten to him second time through. Some misses here. The Rays have been able to take advantage of trying to build a big inning. Junior Camero. A high towering fly ball. Dominguez came in. Now he’s going to have to go back and in front of the track makes the catch tagging at third. Morell he will score. He gets his 71st run batted in. It’s now a seven to2 ball game and the pitch is chopped toward first. Leaping to grab a Goldmid goes to second one and even as well as Strowman covers his spot. He can’t beat low to first. No throw. Runner takes off and the throw down is not in time. So a stolen base and he’s in scoring position. Here’s Johnny Duca. Rays down 72. Ground ball that’s going to go to the left of Vulpi. Lowe’s going to score. The Rays will make it a three-run inning. Duca drives in the run. We’re down 7 nothing. You still got plenty of time left. And the Rays just keep chipping away. Chipping away. All right. Does he try and steal a base here? Gold Schmidt holds him. Here’s the pitch. Duca goes. It’s high. Throw to second is high as well. And safe at second base with another stolen base for the Rays is Johnny Duca. And now another base. Edward would get the Rays another run closer. Swinging a ball. Looped in the air. Shallow right dropping quickly. Base hit. That’ll score Duca Walls. Hawai’s turn. He’s going to go for two. The throw from Slater. Not in time. It’s a head first slide and a double for Taylor Walls. The Rays now have four in the fourth inning. And now they’re within three. What a huge inning here for the Rays. Seemingly dead in the water at seven to nothing and just not trying to do too much. Quality at bat after quality at bat. Here’s Kelly who was walked off on yesterday and facing John Carlos Stanton to start the bottom of the fifth with the Rays down 74. Swinging a high chopper off the plate towards third charging Camro with a bare hand pickup double pumps throws to first and dropped by Aronda and Aronda clutching his wrist collided with John Carlos Stanton and Aronda is down in a heat. I don’t think that uh Kamino realized how Stanton is struggling to run and so he originally was not going to throw the ball and then he elected to and he threw it into the runner and Ronda tried to make the catch on the tag and that’s when his arm ran into Stanton’s body and that’s not a good collision. Ronda not surprisingly is coming out of the game. You just hope nothing’s broken or or any ligaments are affected there. He’s had such a great year. Chisum reaches on a fieldielder’s choice and that one gets through Forez and that allows Chisum to move to second and there goes Jazz at third and that one gets past the catcher as well. Jazz makes the turn but it’ll stop right there. A walk for Dominguez and now the rain coming down. They are calling for the tarp. Yankees lead this one 74. Runners on first and third with one man out. It is an official game at this point. It’s close to a threehour delay. The trade deadline is approaching at 6:00. So, so far so good for the Yankees. One of the things they need to do is improve the bullpen. They certainly did that. But Mason Montgomery out there on the mound and we are just moments away from restarting this contest in the bottom of the fifth inning. And he is taking over first and third. One man out situation for the Yankees. So Slater got the start against the right Pepio, but now he’s going to get a turn against the left-hander. Swing Grumball toward short. Wolves to second. One, Cabierra to first. And that’s how you come back from a rain delay. It took nearly 3 hours for the Rays turn a 643 double play to end the fifth inning. Uh-oh. Cabierro, there may be something going there as we take a look in the Rays dugout. So, I don’t think there’s any question. Jose Cababiro, he’s in the middle of medicals at this moment. But once those clear, he will officially be heading to the opposing team’s dugout. Won’t be a far walk to head to his new clubhouse here with the New York Yankees being acquired. Yeah, that means I mean how about this? I know. I know. In real time. Crazy day. Our very own Jack Curry reporting that the Yankees have acquired another hardthrowing reliever, Camo Dval. The Yankees problem all year is that they didn’t have a hard throwing bullpen. They do now. They flipped the script overnight. Yellis Santos, folks, he just went nine up, nine down with five strikeouts. More than even just being three scoreless, but was three perfect. for 5ks. Deos Santos was dominated. 74 Yankees. We go top nine. Was looking for the save. He has not had a save since October 4th of 2022 at Texas. Swing and a miss. A long busy day for the Yankees as they win this one 74. They remake their bullpen. And now they go into the rest of the season, the final third of the season, with a completely different look out in the pen.

  1. Thank god this month is over. This month sucked as a rays fan. Gg Yankees. We head home for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Yay! Probably be swept. Good luck Dodgers.

  2. Let's go Yankees 🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾

  3. DH Judge and keep him rested. All we need is his Bat. Yankees are fortunate to have a future HOF be DH with a potential 55 HR season

  4. 2nd inning homers: I liked that Rice was off and running to first without jayhawking. But…I also like that Stanton took a second to admire it. He (and the pitcher) knew it was gone at the crack of the bat.

  5. Both June and July may not have been the best months for the New York Yankees, but August and September is when they will be alive and kicking once the playoff start and I think those two months are going to help the Yankees out tremendously

  6. Been following this team since 1919, and am starting to like these wing against AL East teams. Team just got scarier at the deadline and as much as they have struggled, nobody wants to see them in the playoffs . Cashman shoved again without giving up too much . Riggio and Flores will be good major leaguers
