Angels GM Perry Minasian When asked if Owner Arte Moreno played a role in the Trade Deadline Strategy

  1. Angels radio isn’t everything but its hilarious listening earlier to Trent Rush and Rodger Lodge talk about how its more important to play meaningful games late in the season than it is to get prospects for guys. And they even said the Orioles are why you don’t sell/rebuild. The Orioles, who made the playoffs in back to back years, have a good core and bright future still just an injury filed season. The orioles who might end up with a better record when all is said and done. But hey the optics of selling is bad because Arte won’t sell as many tickets later in the season and that makes him sad:(. If only he cared about actually having a plan or actually looking at say 2026/2027 and thinking “maybe our window opens then, lets grab prospects and focus on then because this is clearly a lost season”

  2. Arte is the “ok” guy in the group of owners. He’s “ok” with being “ok” which is bad for baseball and the business.

  3. He acts like keeping the team as is means we stay in it when that’s not a given, he also acts like trading TA or Jansen or Ward would take us out of it when that’s not a given either. Ridiculous.

  4. He’s right. If we want our young players to improve, playing half a season of meaningful baseball a year won’t cut it.

  5. Wasn’t Roger Lodge hired mainly to be just a homer and cheerleader for the team? I never thought he was or is a serious analyst of the team. He probably would be fired by Moreno if he was and he knows it.
