George Pickens ROASTS Steelers AGAIN + Terry McLaurin To Steelers HEATING Up & Training Camp Winners

Here’s George Pickkins saying more outlandish things about his former team and the camaraderie. Like I kind of understand the camaraderie more than I did in Pittsburgh. You see what I mean? Like even what you guys do. Like the Cowboys is like I said, they’re known for the Super Bowl. You see what I mean? Like that’s what they’re known for. If they weren’t known for that, then who no one would care about the Cowboys, but they’re known for that. Then the camaraderie of the people give that same energy cuz they also want to see it again. So like I think I definitely understand it more here, the people more here than I did up there cuz I’m from the south. That’s, you know, that’s a whole another deal. Like Huh. What franchise has more Super Bowls? What franchise has more Super Bowl appearances in the last 30 years, 20, 30 years? What franchise has had more deep playoff success over the last 20, 30 years? This comment is insane by Pickings. Just say you vibe with being back down south better than in Pittsburgh. That’s all. You could just leave it at that. It’s understandable because you played high school football with Hoover, Alabama, college football, Georgia. Don’t say you understand the Cowboys culture better than the Steelers because of Super Bowls. The Cowboys focus is more on Super Bowls than the Steelers. Are you kidding me? Super Bowls is what we’re all about here. Hence the outrage from the P fan base recently. Have you not been able to put two and two together? Why Steeler fans are upset? Now, Cowboys are one of those franchises, too, where their fans have some of that passion, but Cowboys at this rate, they just need to be happy making an NFC championship. They have been able to accomplish that since the 90s. At least we’ve won Super Bowls in the 2000s, been TFC championships in the 2000s and the 2010s. Cowboys, yeah, they want their big winning, but they’re also a little bit more about marketing and brand, the star, all that right? A little bit more about other stuff than just solely winning a Super Bowl. The Steelers, we just won a Super Bowl. We go to the training camp in Latroe. Our facility sucks. Weather gets shitty as we get into November, December. No cheerleaders, just icy lights, football and Super Bowls here. That That’s what we want to focus on. So from Pickkins, this is an asinine statement. Absolutely asinine statement. I wonder honestly if Pickkins knows what he’s doing here or if he’s really just this ignorant because if he’s trolling, I respect it. I respect the game. But if he ain’t trolling, I guess it’s no wonder then it didn’t work out here. He didn’t think the Steelers culture was serious enough about Super Bowls. And what’s funny is we’re so serious about Super Bowls, that’s exactly why Pickkins was traded. We want to win a Super Bowl again and understand that team chemistry matters. And Pickkins team chemistry, team first. that wasn’t always in alignment. But yeah, crazy comment from uh George Pickins here. Absolutely crazy. Uh now let’s stick with receiver. I’m seeing some stuff about Terry McLaren to the Steelers building some buzz. Steelers are becoming in the mix as a top contender for landing McLaren for 2025 because Terry and the Commanders seemingly aren’t really anywhere close on a new contract. He’s holding out. Things are getting a little bit tense. And even McAfee, like I don’t have any shame here. We we could talk about Terry McLaren to the Steelers even though it’s really unlikely to happen. But because oddsmakers have put the Steelers I think in the top five odds for Lanny McLaren that has become a story that has made headlines. McAfee used that as a jumping point to ask Omar Khan about Terry McLaren being a serious trade candidate for the Steelers. Like I saw it on Mackie like they pulled up the tweet Steelers emerging as a top candidate. I’m like and then I click on the article. It’s just some random ass sports book has the Steelers in like the top five odds. There’s no other actual reports or actual rumors regarding the Steelers and Terry McLaren from what it seems. But McAfee used that to ask Omar Khan about if the Steelers are done, if McLaren could be an option. People have looked at your salary cap and think that you could get Terry McLaren to become a Pittsburgh Steeler. Now, whether or not he is going to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or any other team, how have you been able to navigate the salary cap gymnastics to pay everybody and still have room if you were to sign another big-time player and you have 12 picks in next year’s draft that is being held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania? Are you done? I mean, you never say you’re done, but you know, I really like the group that we have here, and you know, we’ve we’ve done a lot this off seasonason, and um um you know, we’ll we’ll see if there’s ever an opportunity to prove the team. You know, we’ll we’ll think about it and talk about it, but you know, we feel good about the team, Pat. There’s no way we’re getting Terry McLaren. There’s just no way. one, I think we like the pieces we have on offense to a certain extent where we’re not going to go out of our way to trade some of our 2026 draft picks and give Terry McLaren a new contract, but at the same time, we do have Aaron Rodgers. We’ve made all these crazy ass moves this off season, and we have this all in mentality, and adding Terry McLaren definitely helps. Uh, but not only do I think we want to see what these pieces on offense can do, Roman Wilson, Calvin Austin, Johnny Smith, the running backs, DK Metaf, but I just don’t think Washington’s trading Terry McLaren just flat out. I think it’s going to be one of those things where Washington comes to their senses here and they realize if Jaden Daniels on a rookie contract, they made certain moves this off season to try to make a push, bringing in uh Laramie Tonsel, trading for Debo Samuel, bolstered up the defense a little bit. You saw what Jaden Daniels did in his rookie year, still on that rookie contract. You can’t not have Terry McLaren. It’s almost like us with TJ Watt. It just got to a point you’re so late in the off seasonason you’re not going to be getting enough in return to cancel out losing your star player. So something’s gonna have to give. Apparently Mcccluren is looking for something north of 30 million potentially up to 33 million. Washington offered somewhere in the ballpark of 27 million. DK Metaf we know his deal that he got here five years for 150. Some people are saying his averages out to 33 million per year, but I don’t know where you get that from five years, 150 million, but who knows? Some of these numbers are are fugazi out here. And yeah, fugazi fugazi, it’s a wazi, it’s a woozy, it’s a fairy dustly like we talked about with the TJ contract, you see the headline numbers, but since it’s an extension, it’s really like 35 per year, but DK’s in that 30 plus million ballpark. No matter what way you want to spin it, I think Terry McLaren at least wants that and Terry McLaren has a case to get paid that because you look at both of their careers over the six years they’ve been in the league. Numbers pretty identical. You can maybe argue which receiver you want. What’s your personal preference? But each over 6,000 yards. Uh DK Metaf has some more touchdowns and DK Metaf is a couple years younger despite them both being in the league for six years. So that could play a factor. Uh, but McLaren has had worse quarterback play. At least DK has had Russell Wilson and Gino Smith. Terry McLaren has had my god. Uh, what? Hineki, Sam How, Alex Smith there. There’s definitely other quarterbacks I’m missing, but he’s been able to make it work with just bad and inconsistent quarterback play in Washington. I just I I Yeah. Would I like us to get Terry McLaren? Sure, 100%. But I also am kind of the same mindset of Omar Khan and the Steelers of wanting to see what this offense could be with the pieces that we already have in place with pieces that we invested in and believed in years ago and and you kind of just want to see if you they could come out to full fruition there. We drafted Roman Wilson in third round for a reason. We drafted Calvin Austin in the fourth round for a reason and despite him getting hurt his rookie year continued to give him opportunity. It paid off a little bit but it’s like can he take another step with that speed this year? John Smith, there’s a reason we traded for him. The familiarity with Arthur Smith and him having a Pro Bowl year in Miami. Reason we drafted Caleb Johnson. Reason we kept Jaylen Warren around. Reason we gave Pat Fry the contract. So part of me is just like I want to see some of these pieces that we have in place already pay some dividends because there’s talent there. I think we can do it with what we got. Terry McLaren sure as hell wouldn’t hurt. But I like the puzzle like we we got a little puzzle piece in place on offense right now. I don’t think we’re lacking as bad as we initially thought after trading Pickkins for an outside threat or that additional weapon, adding Johnny Smith and then and then even hearing some of these training camp reports of how Roman Wilson’s coming along, Calvin Austin’s coming along, John Smith’s really getting incorporated in this offense. DK Metaf today balling out. So, I actually, yeah, let’s just segue into today’s training camp because they did patty practice yesterday, skipped the pads for today. More more of a lighter workload here, but it was buzzing. Got some fights breaking out. Juan Thornnehill, John Smith getting after it. DK Metaf unhappy, pissed off. Chuck Clark and DK. I don’t I don’t know who was throwing the punches, but punches were thrown in their interaction. And I like it, man. Like, it’s iron sharpens iron. Training camp fights, it’s a tale as old as time. It It happens. Blood boils. Tension happens. People get pissed off at each other. It’s a physical game. It’s It’s the NFL. This is what it is. You got a bunch of alphas together going at it. It’s freaking 95 degrees out there. is what it is. I don’t I don’t think this is drama. I don’t think this is anything negative. In fact, this type of stuff is probably what’s been lacking with these Steeler teams over the last several years. Too much through the motions, same old, same old status quo. Not enough fight, not enough friction, not enough spark. So, yeah, you’re getting it here in this training camp. And I don’t think it’s coincidence either. It’s some of the new faces. Actually, all four names that I mentioned are new names for Steeler Nation. Juan Thornnehill, John Smith, DK Metaf, Chuck Clark mixing it up. That’s what I talked about with that Jaylen Ramsay trade. You know, we’re losing a a really nice piece and make Fitzpatrick was an awesome Steeler. Did everything right. Being a part of the Steelers organization was a Steeler through and through. But I don’t know, there’s something to be said for bringing in Jaylen Ramsey. New voice, new leadership. Mink has been here this whole time. He’s been a part of the group where we haven’t won a playoff game. Out of Juan Thornhill, won championships with the Chiefs. Chuck Clark, AFC North mentality, DK Metaf, we know he’s a dog. So, like I like the shake up. I like the mixup. I like the fighting. And you know, Tomlin does as well. I don’t think Tomlin is promoting fights, but if you have no fights, I think that’s a problem. He’s definitely not promoting fights. You know, it’s one of the rules. No fighting. But if something starts, whip his ass. Get it on, baby. Couple other notable highlights from today’s training camp because they had to bump it up. Worried about the weather later. Supposed to rain, so they bumped it up to 10 something start time. Aaron Rogers had his best day balling out, throwing bombs to DK Mad. DK Madave was lighting it up as well. Roman Wilson had himself a day. You’re seeing Calvin Austin emerge as that number two receiver, but Roman Wilson had his say today, mossing JPJ, making some other nice catches. Darius Slay made up for getting cooked by Calvin Austin yesterday. Had a few PBUs in the red zone. Johnny Smith, already mentioned him going back and forth with Juan Thornnehillo. And part of that reason is because John Smith was cooking him. Johnny Smith was making plays and we did the four tight end personnel again. And Johnny Smith is is in the back field getting handoffs, taking tosses. Again, I don’t know how to feel about it. Apparently, he did it in Tennessee with Arthur Smith to some degree of success. I don’t know. Uh I’ll believe it when I see it in a Steeler uniform. Will Howard apparently did good today just overall for the offense. This was one of their better days, if not best day. And I forgot to mention this from yesterday. Wanted to shout out Joey Porter Jr. Apparently, he had a monster day. He was uh getting after it with the tackling and was really showing that he’s one of the big dogs in that cornerback room. You got Slay, you got Ramsay, two Hall of Fame caliber guys. JPJ kind of has been flying under the radar this off season. I feel like first day was good. You know, it was getting accumated, running around, hitting people. So, I had a great time today. I feel like everybody in the secondary did too. Everybody’s a little bit of tense first day of pass. Everybody just trying to get after it. It’s hot. Everybody get a little irritated. You can’t do nothing to nobody when it’s hot. So, I feel like that just ticked a lot of people off today. I mean, everybody wanted to put pads on. We was kind of upset yesterday that we didn’t get the spin. So, today everybody really anticipating it and we showed it on the field today. Hopefully, with the help at quarterback, the help that he’s going to have on defense that that builds his confidence up and he’s able to have more days like he did yesterday when the games really matter in the regular season. But that’s it for uh today’s show. Let me know your thoughts on picking comments. on Terry McLaren trade stuff. Do you think it’s even in the realm of possibility? And then yeah, just wanted to mention some stuff from camp today that’s been uh floated out there. But yeah, that’s it. Hope you guys enjoyed. Stay chilling. Be back tomorrow. Peace.

  1. really wanted to see pickens and metcalf together , but starting to realize that would have probably never worked , and id rather have metcalf than pickens

  2. i like what we have now , i believe in calvin austin and roman wilson , i love our rbs and tes , dont think we need scary terry , and you cant really pay two primetime receivers

  3. Bro can u stop posting ab pickens every time he says something, we all know this already. Stop giving this goofy the time of day lets focus on us. 🖕🏻pickens

  4. No it’s not an insane comment by Pickens, bros a diva and he went to the one franchise and fan base who adores divas. He’s gonna cook this year. Both parties won in that trade, cause that’s not the Pittsburgh way

  5. The most overrated, and Mediocre team known for winning in the 90s. We have more rings are also known for being the better team overall. We changed the game of football, defensively! 🤡 💩

  6. It’s way different in Texas!! Half the yinzers are racist. It’s more diversity in Texas. Pickens will be loved in Dallas Tx!! For Pickens the trade to Dallas is excellent. Passing offense and Lamb on the field taking away the double teamed!! They sat Pickens down for 3 games during hardest stretch of season. Pickens wasn’t injured. He was high stepping across the field during pre game. Traded away WR1 Diontae and didn’t replace him then played season without incorporating the WR2 in any of the plays. That isn’t trying to win a Super Bowl. Good for Pickens, he is in great environment!! But go Steelers, get back to the Super Bowl and win!! Aaron can do it!!

  7. Deke just watched the pat mcafee show for sure. I haven’t seen him reference iron city light in a while. not from the burgh don’t know how ic light is spelled there no disrespect.

  8. Pickens is a lazy, ignorant asshole….there's a reason he wasnt drafted in the first round with all that talent. I loved his skill when he was here but he was obviously a locker room cancer.

And once he left the team and screwed over the kids he was supposed to show up for I lost any good will for him I had left.

  9. The thing with Terry is we are paying Rodgers $10 million this year and will most likely have a rookie contract on a QB after Aaron. We go all in this year by trading for Terry, then our rookie quarterback coming in has DK and Terry. Yes it’s expensive but we can afford it with our QB situation

  10. Won't you say it how we mean it? What a dumbass. That's what he is. He don't know what the hell he's talking about. He was ignorant in Pittsburgh. He didn't follow the rules, he obviously wasn't a point. A state of mind where he thought he was in charge that he could do whatever he wanted. Well you found out real quick discipline. Learn it young man

  11. Fucc Pickens bro he played that bs just to get out of here. Ppl are so stupid because they wanna blame Coach T and the Ownership mean while Omar K had no intention on moving him but he push the line

  12. Deke, this whole Terry Mac has me baffled. But I do see getting him. I think people don't know how sneaky the Khan artist is. I think we will get him and I also think that getting him will ultimately put us in a damn good position. My only question is the o-line. I wish that you focused a little more on the o-line. I feel the o-line is the make or break of our season. If A-Rod is protected, I feel we will be unstoppable, regardless of wrs. Look at Tom Brady and all of his success. His O-line was one of a kind. That's where all his success lies. So, I believe if A-Rod is protected, we can stamp our 7th and celebrate

  13. He has an attitude problem. Look at his record. He has to WIN the argument……Is THAT what Dallas wants for a WR ?! Hahaha. Good. We as steelers are BETTER for taking out the trash right ? Lol.

  14. Definitely need a true #2 star receiver, if one goes down you have the other to carry the load for awhile until they come back. Don't need a repeat of last season
