What are we thinking? What grade would you give our deadline?
Yesterday's Moves:
Rays To Acquire Griffin Jax, Twins Receive Taj Bradley
Rays to acquire Adrian Houser in exchange for Curtis Mead š the light has gone out of my life
Jose Caballero to the Yankees for Everson Pereira (NYY #14) + PTBNL

Personally, I was hoping we sold big, kind of like the Twins did. Sure, we still have a chance this year, but the vibes have been in the gutter for over like a month now, and I wouldn’t have minded retooling so that we hit the ground running in 2026.
Boss Im tired. Probably need to step away from baseball for a bit. But legit, I felt even worse last year, but been through a lot lately. Might come back once in a while when we win games lol.
Weāre in such a weird spot w the ownership change that I donāt think anyone knows what to expect. I was personally assuming it was gonna be a mega-sale, which is prob what it wouldāve been with Stu, but we keep rolling i guess.
If this year flops, which it probably will/has, Iām still excited for some of our prospects and young guys. Tre Morgan highlights have been saving me through these brutal months lol
Personally, I think we should have sold at the deadline. It seemed to be a seller-friendly deadline, and Littell+Pete+Yandy would have gotten a haul in return. While I applaud the team for being aggressive (since we know how rare that is for us), it doesn’t feel like we are in a much better position than we were a few days ago (relative to TOR, NYY, and BOS), despite losing Littell, Mead, and Taj. 2 *maybe* 3 teams from the AL East are going to make the playoffs, and I do not think we measure up comparably. I guess what I am trying to say is that I am not crushed by the value we gave up buying, but in the opportunity cost of not selling. This move might make us better at the margins, but I would have rather ripped the band-aid off and gone in next year after potentially our first “real” free agency window post-sale. I am so convinced Littell+Pete+Rort+Gervase would have landed Rushing (and maybe a prospect) and Yandy would have landed ~2 MLB-ready top 15 prospects (Grissom + Payton Tolle from Sox?). It feels like we sat in the middle instead of committing to a direction. With how the East looks (remember, we are now closer to Baltimore than the Red Sox), buying might have been a mistake. That being said, selling high on Cabby was a good piece of business and everyone we acquired has team control (3 years for Jax, the main piece who is going to be incredible) so I can’t say the sky is really falling
Iām optimistic. Naively optimistic? Maybe. But optimistic nonetheless.
I’m surprised we ended up being fairly big buyers. sold off a lot of prospects, kept Fairbanks, got bullpen help, possible catcher help, outfield help, and an arm to replace little who might even be better.
Personally I love it when the rays act as buyers and sellers in the same trade deadline, this team needed a realignment of talent and I think they did a good job on moving talent around where itās needed while getting rid of players that just did not fit our team
I don’t understand much about strategy, but why don’t they use late-inning starters instead of using Uceta and those two who came from the Orioles? I’m speaking for Taj and Littell.
