Nathan Zegura on What He’s Seen From Browns Quarterback Shedeur Sanders – Sports4CLE, 8/1/25

So, first team reps, uh, Browns radio analyst, Nathan Zagura, who’s been out at training camp the whole time with what he thinks relative to that, and Shadur Sanders that, you know, it’s tough to get four guys first team reps, so I understand why it probably hasn’t happened yet, but I do think he has earned the opportunity because he throws an incredibly good ball, a very catchable ball, and he’s just so accurate. His ball placement is excellent. They had us play uh at the end of practice the other day. He had a great roll out and a throw there kind of in that live period at the end of practice which was I should have been the first question quite frankly. Ken, can you believe there was a live tackling period in the Kevin Sansky training camping? I told you guys months ago that this was going to be a much different camp and certainly it already is. But back to Shador in that Hungry Dogs. It’s kind of the opportunity period. There was a one-on-one for the push-ups on the line. Luke Floria made a great move on kind of a deep over. Got around the corner. It had to be layered in kind of over him out in front. It was a perfect ball from Shadore. So, yeah, I’ve been very very impressed with him and you know, all the people saying, “Oh, it’s going to be a circus. It’s going to be a C.” It’s absolutely nothing. He comes in, he works really hard and he’s done a great job. And again, the, you know, the the the fans that are calling for him, I get it. Everybody’s excited. It’s a shiny new toy. Let’s let him develop him. I I I’m with you. I think there’s some things there. Clearly, there were some things that they wanted to iron out and it looks like they’re ironing them out and and he’s working and doing what they tell him to do. Yeah. One thing that stands out to me is look, I mean, some of the things that he does in terms of of just being a great teammate. you know, there was the conversation with, you know, Jerome Baker was talking to some um some people uh in the media and then Shador came out and kind of some of the people moved away from Jerome Baker’s um podium in the middle of his his conversation and Shador turned to the PR people said, “Listen, I’m not going to go on until they finish with Jerome Baker. You know, he’s you know, obviously he’s he’s from this area and and he’s being respectful uh to his teammates and I thought that was a a nice move.” And then given the fact that, you know, listen, he’s gone through, you know, his father just, you know, had got a diagnosis of of of cancer. Uh Shador has not talked about that. As a matter of fact, Coach Prime didn’t, you know, according to him, didn’t even tell Shidor or Shiloh about it. And that’s that’s a crazy that’s, you know, a huge thing. like we all have family members and for that to kind of be under wraps and and then he go through what he went through and kind of and Shador continue talking about let’s make this makes make this thing on the field the thing uh coach coach prime said he wanted to come out and visit him he said listen I’m not getting that many reps right now I’m going just concentrate on learning what I need to do and getting it done um and then you know with this I tweeted this out the other day you know um he’s out there 40 minutes before practice 40 minutes after practice um you know And for the most part, Tommy Reese and all the his coaches, everybody involved saying, “Hey, listen, hey, he’s been a a a a good person, a a a model uh individual in the locker room. Um he’s very infectious. He he’s in the community.” And then put on top of that the fact that he can throw the ball and he has been accurate and he has had some nice splash plays in camp. So, you know, the thing is, and I always I always try to tell people this and and this is very important to get when you’re talking about football, right? The what happens between those white lines, it matters. That’s why I’m I’m a very important proponent of the fact of when you get your opportunity, your opportunity and your reps, your job is to go out there and deliver and make the it put the onus on them. Put the onus on the coaching staff and the organization to say, “Man, we can’t keep this kid off the field. I’m sorry.” because that’s the way football works and right now it’s practice. But you know what’s going to resonate? Them preseason games is coming. You know what’s going to resonate is when you do the the the scrimmages against the Panthers and the Eagles. All those things are going to resonate. And even if your time don’t start in the beginning, always tell yourself, I want to I want to prepare myself to make the biggest impact that I can when I get out there. because my mentality is when you put me in there, I’m going to make it hard for you to take me back out. And so all of those things is a building block building block in steps. And I get it. He has a lot of buzz. Uh I’m excited about him as a prospect. There’s a lot of people that that follow his life and his career that that like him as a prospect and as a person, but it’s all in the right timing. Timing is is is everything in life. And sometimes you could be at a point in time in your life right now where you don’t see it being beneficial to you. But if you go back five years later, two years later, three years later, and look back at the time you spent and where you were at, you say that was vital to what I needed to happen. Go back and look at Baker Mayfield. You think Baker Mayfield would trade it? Right now, Baker Mayfield in a completely different space. Yep. And you know what? He probably wouldn’t be in that space unless he went through what he went through to get to that space.

  1. G Bush u need to charge an appearance fee! G Bush u r the only media person in Cleveland that is on the right train! 🤣🤣 Yes! G Bush your are on the Jimmy Haslem train! the Jimmy Haslem train is full of Shedeur Sanders merchandise, feel good stories etc. etc. Yes! Jimmy Train is telling the NFL the new face of the Browns is Shedeur Sanders. the media is on the Andrew Berry and Coach Kevin, train which is full of stories about Q Judkins domestic violence case, and Dillion G going 3 for 14 with an interception, n Tony G telling the World the Rookies struggled today! 🤣🤣 Keep in mind Shedeur Sanders went 7 for 10 today with a touchdown! 🤣🤣 G Bush stay on the Jimmy train!

  2. The only negative thing that can be said about Shedeur Sanders is what no one has seen. Everything that is seen is great. Image that and the type of people that even accept that. Evil and bad people are real.

  3. Stop thanking the children of former slave owners for being crappy and cruel humans. Success is greater due to their evil efforts not because of it. The question is where is the justice? These bad children need to be addressed at some point.

  4. Numbers from today Shaudur 7/10 Dillon 3/14. If you watch Shaudur the way he throws the ball with anticipation. And accuracy is effortless for Shaudur. When you watch Dillon he has been inaccurate. He constantly struggles to throw from the pocket and struggles to throw over the line. If Shaudur keep putting in the work and performs well in live practices with others teams. It will be hard to keep him off the field.

  5. Ravens fan here but I wish nothing but the best for QB12 and his family…..we all know he's gonna get a shot even if it's not in Cleveland. Hard work will pay off.

  6. What GB dont realize is that he's been used for his take or opinion for multiple reasons. Stop playing it safe, homey, and talk real talk. Shedeur is the franchise quarterback. But they can play games weel over weel.

  7. I’m blocking everything Browns. They’re clowns. No clicks from me anymore until they give Shedeur the respect he deserves

  8. Let's be crystal clear…many of us would not wish the Browns well because of Shake-n-Bake and their AWFUL hire of DW…let alone be watching social media posts, podcasts and Browns-related content if they didn't draft SS…so for ONCE…be smart and right…and keep SS.

  9. Could the Browns coaching staff be setting Gabriel up for failure? Instead of exposing Dillon to the first and second defensive units repeatedly and watching him fail, maybe the coaching staff should allow him to get accustomed to the game by playing him against the 3rd or 4th defensive units? More prognosticators ranked Gabriel lower than Sanders than the reverse.

  10. Look how the Bears are working with Caleb Williams and building the team around him! They didn't take him through all these changes. This is the way it is when a team really wants you. God is working all this for Shedeur's good.

  11. This is not new, he’s always been a fantastic human being. Y’all created the circus narrative. Just because you say it doesn’t make it so. Y’all are mad because he has a following that loves him. So, as soon as he gets the chance I hope he goes to an organization that’ll appreciates and respects him.

  12. The lack of OL in college molded him into a QB who can handle pressure. Most top QBs in college have very good protection. 12 didn't have that privilege

  13. CU alum here. I liked the statement, "when you get your opportunity". And the kid has to grind and make use of when that "opportunity" arrives.

  14. What kills me about these reporters and influencers is they know absolutely squat. Cleveland ain’t developing sh_t. Shedeur has his own quarterback coach. Put it on the coaches. Shut up. Y’all nothing but clique bait. Its annoying.
