And another move has been made by Pelicans if they signed Jaden Springer, another player they just picked up. The team announced according to the press release. I Springer, the number 28th pick in the 21 draft, played a limited role in Philadelphia across two and a half seasons before being sent to Boston uh at the 2024 tread deadline, he spent roughly a full calendar year with the Celtics and then was rerouted to Houston in a salary dump in February of 2025. So, after being cut by Houston, Springer signed a 10day deal with the Jazz in February and agreed to a 2-year contract with the team in March following that initial 10-day addition. However, he was waved by Utah last week before his minimum salary for the 2526 season could become partially guaranteed. So Springer, who’s known for his perimeter defense, and his offensive game, his career averages at three points a game, 1.5 rebounds, and nine minutes per contest across 110 regular season games. He played a significant role at the G- League level during his first two years with the 76ers, but has made only two appearances in the G-League since the start of the 23 24 seasons. Now, the details of the Pelicans deal with uh Mr. Springer is basically a nine guaranteed exhibit nine deal according to Michael Scoodal of Hoops Hype who tweeted that the guard will compete for a roster spot in training camp. Just to let y’all know about this player, man. So, uh it’s it’s it’s worth noting that New Orleans has 14 players on the standard contract and enough breathing room below the luxury tax line to carry a 15th man into the regular season. So, there could be a path for Springer to make the team this fall because he has four years of NFL I mean NBA experience and he’s no longer eligible for a twoway deal. So, is this player is Mr. Jaden Springer a very talented player, gritty guy, uh defensive minded player, mix of different things? Can he be the guy? So, anyway, you let me give you guys a little backdrop, a little breakdown on Mr. Springer, right? This is some of the player profile. 6465 about 200 plus pounds. He’s 22. Uh he turns 23 as of September of 25 of this year. Like I said, he was a 28th overall pick back in 21. So the guy has talent. Uh his NBA statistics, he’s played 43 games. We already told you his averages in terms of that. Uh he is a 39% shooter from the field and 25% shooting from downtown, 71% from the foul line. According to the reports, his scouting report is pretty interesting. He’s listed as defensive uh his strengths are defensive prowess. Springer is recognized for his strong defensive abilities particularly on the on ball and point of attack. He possesses a very high motor, active hands, and a knack for generating steals, ranking high in steal percentage, and overall defensive metrics. He’s known for his discipline and his physical play. Offensive scoring potential. While currently lacking consistent offensive production, Sprinker shows potential as a scorer at all three levels. He excels at attacking the rim, utilizing his strength and body control to finish through contact. He’s also a reliable shoot uh a spot-up shooter with good mechanics. Although his three-point shooting volume and consistency needs to improve, he’s praised for his competitive mindset, toughness, and destructive but disruptive defensive play, which is what Joe Dumar has talked about, which he wants his players to exhibit, right? We know that. And of course, the weaknesses to his game is we mentioned offensive versatility and consistency. His offensive game remains relatively raw. He needs to develop more league guard skills, including playmaking and adds ball advanced ball handling to become more well-rounded. His shooting, well, isn’t he a pretty decent spot-up shooter, but his three-point volume and shots need improvement. His shooting mechanics are sound, but he lacks the fluidity and quickness for consistent success at the NBA level. His athleticism possesses good athleticism and good lateral quickness but is not considered an elite athlete compared to some of his peers and this is according to NBA Draft.net having it. So the projections on him miss he’s still a young player with potential especially on the defensive end to become a consistent contributor in the in the NBA. he’ll need to distri uh uh kind of distribute or get to the point where he can be able to demonstrate those abilities and develop his offensive mindset, particularly as a creator and more consistent three-point threat. Strong defensive foundation combined with potential offensive growth could allow him to carve out a role as a valuable rotation player in this league. So, this is something we talked about with him as well. And some of the recent developments is after struggling to find consistent minutes with the Sixers and Celtics, uh the Jazz picked him up. We talked about he signed the Exhibit 10 deal with the Pelicans, which could provide a platform for his offensive uh game to solidify it. But take no uh thoughts about it. This is a guy that a lot of the uh uh people in the building Joe Dumar and Weaver see as a guy that could potentially be a person that can come in and help the Pelicans in terms of what he brings to the table. And it’ll be interesting just to see that man to see if he can compete at that level and develop into something decent for the team moving forward. So anyway, that’s what we got today on the Pelican postgame report. What do you guys think about the Pelicans edition of Jaden Spring on it in exhibit 10 contract? How do you like this the squad the Pelicans are putting together? Do you think this is a squad that’s worth of note that can compete for something deeper, a playoff spot? The former Sixers, Celtics, and Rockets guard will compete for a roster spot in training camp as the Pelicans head into the 2025-26 season with 14 players on guaranteed deals.

Is this a smart depth move for the Pels? Will Springer stick with the team past camp?
