Brewers vs. Nationals Game Highlights (8/1/25) | MLB Highlights

We get ready for the series opener. The Brewers come into the month of August with the best record in all of Major League Baseball. And tonight, they begin the fifth month of the season by starting a six-game road trip. It’ll be the Brewers and the Nats. Game one coming up, Parker versus Kintana. It’s an all Southpaw matchup here. Second season for Parker and he’s won backto-back starts coming in as he will go to work against Brandon Lockage making his Brewers debut. One-two pitch and it’s cut on and missed for strike three. Parker off and running. One away for William Contraras. Here’s the 1-1 from Parker. And this one is lined into center. That’s going to get down for a base hit for William Contras. And hopefully the hot stretch that he entered during the home stand continues into this road trip. And now here’s Christian Yelich. Parker’s 3-1. Yell took high and he works the walk. So, a good start to this inning for the crew after the strike out of Lockidge. A base hit and a walk. And now Andrew Vaughn, one of the hottest hitters on the planet coming to the plate for the crew. Vaughn strikes out. It’s a big one for Parker. And there’s two down now for Caleb Durban. First pitch to Durban is hit in the air to right center field. Long run back there and making the catch is Lyall. Durban gave it a ride and into the gap, but Lyall had a good first step and made that catch with relative ease. And now Josqintana will try to continue his ownage of the Nationals over the course of his career. He gets CJ Abrams, left-handed hitter, to lead off for the Nets. Kintana’s first offering is a fly ball out to right center field. It’s going to be a long run for Lockage. It’s over his head and off the base of the wall. Abrams will be content with a double and a good start for the Nats in the bottom of the first. Told you Kintana has been great against the Nationals. 4-1 with a 191 RA in eight career starts. Last year he went 2 and 0 and did not allow a run in three starts. That spanned 21 innings and just seven hits. Here’s James Wood. Another first pitch. James Wood pops it up to left, slicing towards the line. It’s tracked down by Yelich. getting a rare start in the outfield. So, one out, a runner at second and Paul D. Young the batter. Young with a fly ball to right. Lockage drifting towards the corner, makes the catch. Abrams tags from second and heads to third. So, with two out, a runner at third, Luis Garcia Jr. in the cleanup spot comes up. Now, the kick in the pitch, breaking ball hit hard and through the hold into right field, a base hit. Abrams will score and the Nationals break out on top and in that consecutive scoreless innings drought against Jos Kintana. Luis Garcia Jr. pulls a curveball through the hole into right field. Drives in his 48th run of the year. It’s played back by Lockidge. It’s the Nationals one and the Brewers nothing. So here is Nathaniel L standing in swung on and missed and Kintana strikes him out to end the inning. One away for Blake Perkins. Perkins hitting 269. No home runs. Three driven in. Parker’s one-two pitch and that is hit high and very deep left field. Wood is back at the track. It is gone. Perkins sails one out of here. His first home run of the season and the Brewers have tied it at one. It didn’t get out by much, but it just got out of here to left. And Blake Perkins, man, how fortunate are the Brewers to have him back in the fold. He has been a difference maker. And the loud contact continues against Mitchell Parker. Couple of singles, two on, nobody out. Kind of feels like it’s a matter of time before the Brewers put a big inning together against Parker here tonight. Well, here is Andrew Vaughn. 3-2 again. Ground ball towards the middle and past the diving shorts stop. Abrams base hit. Contraras coming around third. Throw home is cut off. Andrew Vaughn. What else is new? It’s an RBI single. The Brewers have the lead for the first time in DC. Two to one in the third inning. I mean, he is just in a completely different place. That was his 22nd run batted in in 17 games as Brewer. Well, now the pitching coach back in the dugout. Here’s Durban. Bunts. He pushes a bunt up to the first baseman. Low. Low. Oh, he doesn’t have a play. He eats the baseball and everybody’s safe. The pitcher was a little late to get over there and cover. I think actually Parker might have been able to beat Durban to the bag if Nathaniel Lo had decided to throw him the baseball, but he never did. So now it’s base is loaded, nobody out. Leading two to one and Danny Jensen coming to the plate. Waggles the bat as he waits. One-two pitch. Hit in the air. It’s into left field. It is not overly deep. James Wood is going to camp underneath it. Now he’s coming on in. Makes the catch. Tagging from third is Yelich anyway. Throw coming from Wood home. Not in time. It’s a sacrifice fly by Danny Jansen. And the Brewers lead it three to one in the third inning. First RBI is a Brewer for the new catcher. So that’s two out. Runners remain at first and second base for Andrew Monasterio. Monasterio struck out his first time. He hits one into left field. Backing up is Wood. Turning around. He’s still back. He’s at the wall. It hit right off the top of the fence and bounces back towards the infield. Two runs will score. Vaughn is in. Durban scores. And Monasterio just missed a three-run home run by a matter of inches, but he’ll have to settle happily for a two-run, two out double. This is the eighth batter of the inning. There have been five hits to one. Line drive right center field. Ortiz splits the gap. It’s down. It’s rolling all the way onto the warning track. Scoring from second, Monasterio. Joey Ortiz into second base standing up. And it’s an RBI double for Joey. The Brewers have played it five in the third and lead it six to one. All right. Rumor has it that during the game you like to partake in some snacks. Is that true? I like a lot of different things during the game. There’s pancake. I got a actually actually I got a little pocket pancake right here that I munch on. They’re wonderful. You want some? I would love some. Thank you so much. Oh, those are delicious. Pizza, bagels. What else do you keep in your pocket? Whatever fits. Whatever fits. There you go. You heard it here from Pat Murphy first. Pat, every every baseball player eats pocket pancakes. Sure. Like most people think sunflower seeds and gum. No, it’s pocket pancakes. Six to one Brewers in the third. Here’s Paul D. Young. 3-2. Hit into deep left field. Backing up goes Yich. Back to the track. Yalich at the fence. This ball is sailing. It’s gone. On the 10th pitch of the at bat, Paul De Young, the veteran, hits a home run into the seats in left. And the Nationals come back and get within six to2. Base hit for Danny Jansen. And the Brewers have their leadoff man aboard. Two-1 on Perkins. And this is a fly ball into left center field. Racing back is Young at the track. It is gone. Blake Perkins a two home run night. It’s a two-run shot and it’s 8-2 Milwaukee. Have yourself a night perk. First multi home run game of his career. And that may very well do it for Mitchell Parker. Jackson Rutled takes over on the mound for the Nationals and the Brewers will have him on the corners with two outs and that’ll get Yelich to the plate. 3-1 pitch and Yalich a liner through the left side and into left field for a base hit. Ortiz trots home from third. He will score. Stopping at second is Contras. It is 9 to2 Brewers on the RBI single from Yelich. His 70th RBI of the season. Abrams goes first to third and the first two have breached against Kintana here in the fifth inning. And table set for the Nationals to try to get a few back. But Paul De Young, who homered against Kintana back in the third, comes to the plate for Washington. 02 pitch and a young a swing and a miss. He went after an elevated sinker. Just his third strike out of the night, but it’s a big one. And there’s one away now for Luis Garcia Jr. 22. Swinging a miss. He chased a curveball down and away. So now two down and here’s Nathaniel Low. Kintana raises the leg to pitch. It’s a ground ball to first. Backhanded by Vaughn. He’s going to run to the bag himself and retire low and Kintana gets out of it. First and third and nobody out. Punch out. Punch out. Ground out. And a zero put up by Jose. It’s Grant Anderson who takes over on the mound for the Brewers. So the night is done for Jose Kintana. Battled through five. So House is singled to start up the inning. Here’s Dalen Lyall. the 2-2 line drive hooked down the right field line. Will it stay fair? Yes, it will. It’s down and off the sidewall to the corner. Coming around third is House. He’s headed for the plate. The throw in towards second is cut off. Now the relay to third is offline. House scores. Ly slides into third with a triple. Cuts the Brewers lead to 93. So that’s a big second out for Anderson. Here’s the pitch. Fly ball down the right field line toward the corner and that’s going to drop in for a hit. That’ll score Lyle. Played on a bounce by Lockage. He’ll throw it into second. Abrams turns and holds with an RBI single. It’s 94 Milwaukee. He’s at second with nobody out. Contrarus, who’s three for four tonight. Three singles. He’s remained redot. One, two. Contrarus drills it into left field. Over the head of Wood to the wall, it goes goodbye. A four hit night for William is punctuated with a two-run blast here in the seventh inning. And the Brewers pouring it on. They lead it 11 to four. Base is loaded, one out for Blake Perkins, who’s hit two homers tonight. One, two, chopped very softly towards the pitcher. Played by Ludas. Drops the baseball. Picks it up. Tries to throw to first. It’s late. Everybody’s safe on a run. Scores. Ludas panicked. The Brewers lead it 12 to four. Two-1. Line drive. Base hit between shortstop and third base. One run scores. That’s Durban. They will hold up Jansen at third on an RBI single by Monisterio. his third RBI of the game. It’s 13-4. Does Joey Ortiz will bat? One, two. Ground ball towards third. Not hit very hard. Played by Brady House. He’s going to take the out across at first. Scooped out by Nathaniel Low in time to get Ortiz, but a run scores. The Brewers get their fifth run of the seventh inning. And it is 14-4 Milwaukee here in the seventh. And William Conturus to lead things off. Four for five tonight. 10 pitch. And this is lined into left. It’s going to get down for extra bases. It is a five hit game for William Conturus as he jogs to second with a leadoff double. Five for six. There’s not a hotter hitter on the planet right now than William Contras. Wild Bill engaged. Wow. Brewers with 22 hits. So they’re one off their season high of 23 hits. Andrew Vaughn has two hits tonight. He’s been on a bag three times. 2-1. This is hit well deep left center. It is back. It is gone. Andrew Vaughn strikes again. A two-run blast and the Brewers lead it 16-4 here in DC. Brady House will come up with one out here in the bottom of the ninth. House with a bounding ball up the middle and that’ll play a couple of runs. Second hit for the rookie. He got completely sought off. I don’t think he knew where the ball was. Look at that. He’s looking for it. He can’t find it. Where is it? It’s in center field. He just hit. He just got knock. It’s now the Brewers 16 of the National Six. This is stroked into the gap. Hits keep coming. In the ninth, it’s another extra base knock for Lyall. It’s another RBI. It’s just good to see Nationals not going away. There’s remaining pesky Riley Adams. Now runners second and third, one out. Well, there’s Hassel with another one and he’s going to drive in at least one. Make it two. It is 16-9. Brewers and it’s been a fiveun inning for the Nets against East McGee. Still have a seven run lead with two outs in the ninth inning. So here’s CJ Abrams. 3-2 pitch hit in the air left field. Gelich back onto the edge of the warning track. reaches up and makes the catch. And this ball game is in the books. And the Brewers hammer out a season high 25 hits on their way to a 16-9 win over the Nationals here tonight to take game one of this series.

  1. Iโ€™ve seen MLB highlight videos of Yankee/Dodger games with a 2-nothing score last longer than 12 minutes and 30 seconds. How is this video shorter when the Brewers get 25 hits! No love for small markets.
