Sorry if there's already a post like this, but I've seen a lot of people say how much they're going to miss Freddy, but I know nothing about him. So, I was hoping you guys could tell me about what makes him such a chill guy and a good player. As fan of a team who's lost some awesome players, I am sorry you guys lost him, and we'll do our best to take care of him for y'all๐ค๐๐๐ค

Great baseball player, great catcher, even better human being and an absolute dawg when put in clutch situations. I think and hope most fellow Royals fans would agree.
Not sure if anyone told ya….He’s a DAWG! You all got a good’n!
Hes is just a dude you never worry about and are always confident with. Doesn’t matter if its him in the box or with the fastest guy on the other team leading off first.
A lot of his love comes from being “clutch” instead of overall production. He earned the term dawg because he’s a dawg.
Seems like an absolutely excellent human being and will 100% be a manager some day. Pretty much every time they would show a shot of Q talking with another coach in the dugout, Freddy was right there in on the conversation.
He also got to play second base for an inning this year and that was fun too.
In addition to what everyone else has said, he also earns the trust of the pitchers. He just caught a game with a different pitcher every inning and handled it beautifully. Just super clutch and super sweet.
That smile, tho. Heโs just that dude. If you believe in attitude & effort, heโs your dawg. Take care of him for us.
His [pop time](https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/poptime?year=2025) is elite, he’s very difficult to run on.
[He hit .404 in Winter Ball a couple years ago.](https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/team.cgi?id=18e167fe) Good bat to ball skills, doesn’t strike out much. Good situational hitter and bunter.
He calls a great game, just about every pitcher on the team likes him as a receiver. I think he is going to thrive as the undisputed primary Catcher – he was and always would be in Salvy’s shadow here, and there are multiple Catcher prospects on the way. He’s a very good player caught in a roster crunch.
Most importantly… he’s got that dawg in him. You’re going to like your new Ferm Dawg.
Please go crush the Dodgers.
Two things you need to know:
1) He’s a hard worker. Immediately started taking english lessons to learn the language and very shortly started refusing translators so he could practice. English is not a requirement in the MLB, but he insisted on it anyway. Now think about his work ethic when it comes to what he’s actually getting paid for.
2) He’s there to play. As a 2nd stringer under Perez, he threw out just as many if not more trying to steal 2nd. Bat is good and with development can be great, but behind the dish and with proper coaching, he can be a fucking STUD.
Bottom line: we needed pitchers and we got some, but to give you an idea we did NOT like losing Freddy. Kid’s got all the makings to be a multi-year all-star and we hope you guys can give him a chance at greatness.
His AVG for a player in the league may not be sparkly, but he gets hits when it matters most. He also is incredibly hard to steal on and is especially good at picking off runners on 3rd. We all love him in KC and will forever be a royal to us๐๐
We like him so much weโre actually happy for him to get paid better and get to play everyday. Pitchers will win you games tomorrow and hopefully next week but Freddy will help all your pitchers win games for years. We miss him already.
Watch this at about the 3 minute mark to see him pick off 3rd base: https://youtu.be/5TfmsE2wgvw?si=07HVb-qDgE_rmiiW
I mean, the twitch reaction on that guy! Solid dawg. Being a mid-sized Midwestern city, we don’t really have big ego superstars, but even with that, Freddy is always humble, ready to play, to do whatever his team needs. We love that in a pro player. I’m so glad he’ll get his flowers now being a starter and I hope play well into the postseason.
When you have a lineup full of dogshit hitters and your backup catcher has one of the better bats in the lineup when he plays, opinions of him will be pretty high.
