Green & White Scrimmage RECAP! (8/2) New York Jets Training Camp 2025
All right, guys. What’s going on? Welcome in. The green and white scrimmage game just wrapped up. Uh, not the best stuff that we’re hearing. We’re going to get into it. Wasn’t all bad. There were a couple standout performances. A couple players had really good days. Uh, one specific unit had a really awesome day, but it really felt like the vibe from top to bottom from all the reporters there, Connor Hughes, Rich Samini, Nick Fia, Zack Rosenblat, wasn’t all that impressive on the offensive side of the football. There were confusion. There were a ton of mistakes. There were it was just an overall sloppy day. Penalties galore. There were multiple drops. But if you want to look at the positive side, the blanket response that you can have, it’s August 2nd. The Jets have over a month before the start of the regular season. It’s the first real scrimmage that the team has had. We can’t really expect these guys to be perfect, especially with new schemes, especially with new coaches, lots of new faces, lots of young players in the mix trying to get involved, right? Membu, Mason Taylor, Arian, all these different guys. It’s not going to be perfect. There were going to be mistakes today. There’s going to be mistakes in the regular season. I mean, there’s a reason why the win total for this football team is five and a half and it’s not 10 and a half, 11 and a half. Um, but with that said, of course, it’s just not what you want to hear, right? That the offense is sputtering, that the offense is being pulled off of the field, constant penalties. I I think it was reported uh like even though it all the penalties weren’t on the first string offense, there were just a ton throughout the day. We had a couple injuries as well, right? Xavier Gibson came off the field. Josh Reynolds came off the field limping. Again, from the sound of it, the passing game was just out of sorts. Uh there were multiple drops as well, which is pretty unfortunate. Uh one positive though, kind of tying into the whole, you know, wide receivers having a down day. Ryan Cooper, the new corner that we just picked up from Miami, he had a great day with two pass breakups. Now, in both cases, uh, reporters talked about how, uh, they looked like they were caught, but then Cooper came in and jarred the ball loose, which is I I mean, that’s awesome. I love that physicality from a corner. Um, and I mean, to be honest with you, corner right now is one of the deepest positions on this football team. Of course, you got your top three guys, Brandon Stevens, also another standout p uh, stand up performer from today. But you got him, you got Sauce, you got Michael Carter, Quantz Stiggers, JBC, Aari Thomas, and Ryan Cooper. I I mean, that’s a pretty I mean, that’s just stacked for one positional group here. And uh corner obviously valuable position in today’s league. You need these guys, you need depth, you need starters, you need uh stars, and the Jets actually have all three. Uh but again from top to bottom it just felt like it was a very confusing uh mistakefilled penalty-filled day for the offense. But let’s focus on the positives. So Isaiah Davis was today’s biggest standout on the offensive side of the football. Uh supposedly he ran hard. He was making multiple plays and really the run game overall the right side of the offensive line was having a lot of success on the running game. that whole uh section, right? Arman, Mambu, ABT, uh I guess we could throw center in there as well in in the run department. You know, we can like if we can establish a solid running game this early into camp, I mean, that is awesome. especially with the new firstrounder. We’re not even talking about Olu, John Simpson, who of course is uh dealing with the I think he was back injury right now, but you know, the right side was kind of the the focus point that that trying to figure out that right tackle position, but you know, so far through camp, so far, you know, with pads on, it sounds like this side of the offensive line is absolutely rolling when it comes to run blocking. Pass pro kind of up and down. There’s been some some reps that have been won obviously, but Will McDonald, another standout from today’s practice, multiple sacks on the day, but you know, Will McD Will McDonald has had a really strong camp from top to bottom. When you want to talk about fit in this style of system, when you want to talk about rushing the passer overall, uh supposedly he’s put on strength and it’s like everything is trending up with Will McDonald and that just fires me up, right? because Germaine Johnson’s missing all these reps and you’re hoping, okay, you know what, former first round pick here, new defense, new coaches, can they maybe unlock or get Will McDonald to grow to evolve to the next level? If that’s the case, you know, look out opposing quarterbacks. Now, Nick Fia did report that Quincy Williams had a standout practice just flying around at the linebacker position, but uh yeah, unfortunately, it wasn’t filled. you know, today wasn’t filled with positive storylines and, you know, great stats all over the place and just a dominant day from Justin Fields through the air. U although it was reported that Fields wasn’t quote unquote bad, just the offense as a whole wasn’t really working because of false starts, drops, uh, you know, holdings, delay of games and whatnot. Um, and it’s of course it’s just tough to get into a rhythm when you’re like that. And then of course if you have a bad throw, god forbid, it just looks even worse because it’s just adding on top of the pile of uh negativity here. But again, you wish to as a fan you’d you’d hear better reports, more positive reports, but unfortunately not the case. But again, August 2nd, it is what it is. We still or I mean we’re still a week out from the first preseason game, so a lot to learn, a lot to learn from. And uh man, I’m excited for that match up against the Packers, man. Saturday night, freaking 8:00 p.m. Let next Saturday, right? Let’s go. Let’s freaking go. So, that’s going to do it for me. Thanks so much for watching and as always, go Jets.
The Green and white scrimmage for the New York Jets just wrapped up and supposedly, it was filled with mistakes, mishaps and penalties. It wasn’t all bad and we did have a few stand out performers! As always..Go Jets!

Why aren’t you at Jets’ camp. You are relying on idiots like Cimini?
This is the time to iron out these issues. Figure out the issues now and how to fix them and get in sync as a team. Besides, some days are just going to be bad days.
The worst day of camp after the best
Yup, best not put too much value on Training Camp reports and Pre-season games and results. Only regular-season performances and results mean anything.
Sticking with my outlook for the regular season. The Jets must do Everything they can to win at least 2 of their first 3 regular-season games. Hoping they can do this…..but I am unsure, truthfully.
Jets need to make some moves at wr just offense in general need more playmakers
Will McDonald reminds me so much of a young Hassan Reddick. So much Juice off the edge. It’s unfortunate the penalties have been so bad but all we can do is trust that Aaron Glenn will have these guys ready.
This was the worst practice I’ve ever been to
WR group worries me big time. Imagine Josh reynolds is WR1 if Garrett has to miss time. Thats ridiculous. Also the fact we’re relying on a rookie to be TE1 and play a huge role just adds to the worry
Let's just be honest here, the Jets are not winning five games, it's going to be like most seasons essentially.
We will be bad again
Deep breaths. This always happens. The D is always ahead of the O. It's barely August. Please, stop.
