IMMEDIATE IMPACT 🤩: Mike Yastrzemski HR in his FIRST ROYALS AT-BAT!

They had him first and third, no outs, and it was amazing job by all of them. And Freddy got to catch him his last game as a Royal. That was fitting. Ball one on Mike Ystrrenky. Two balls and no strikes. Told you Tyler Hinnman, that catcher back there, he comes out of there ready to fire. He’s quick, got a quick release and very accurate with his throws. So my might tried to to rip off a bag, which would be his 20th if he could pull it off. Two one. Ymsky was number five with the Giants. So he recognized immediately that that number was not available in Kansas City. So he went with number 18. That was his number in college at Vanderbilt. That’s a strike and Mike is going to be safe on a bad throw by Heineman. That’s a break for the Royals as Mike did not get a great jump. And the Royals have a runner at second with one out. Either that or it was a delay steel. Let’s see. Yeah, he delayed him. That was nice. Good delay. Delay steals tricked the catcher and that’s what probably what upset his throw. And look at he slid underneath the tag. Great look there by the second place umpire Bruceman. All good. 20 steel. And Ystreky hits it to deep right field and gone in his first Royals at bat. [Applause] Way to go JJ Pako. That run and home run is yours. Thank you. Two to one. Tremendous trade already. How about that, Rhino? He waited it out. He got him a pitch from Gosman. Not sure exactly what it was, [Applause] but he drove it in nice and that brought some energy back to that dugout. So, the Royals come right back and lead 2-1. So, we were showing you that he has over 100 home runs in his career, but this is his first big league team outside of the Giants. So, you get back to my first game with a new team, my first hit with a new team. Pretty awesome. And his first hit with the new team is a two-run home run. That’s how you handle the split finger when it stays up. That’s exactly what you do. Wait for that cookie. And nice job. You can’t do anything better for your teammates to love you than something like that. Randall Gritic, who spent four years here in Toronto, grounds out to third and there are two down. Okay, now that that looked like a split finger or a change up even. I don’t know. I didn’t see the the split finger grip on it, but look at that stiff front leg there. Great balance with the swing. Came down through the ball. Stayed on top and drove it up with a little backspin just enough to get it over the wall there.

A new addition to the team at the trade deadline, Mike Yastrzemski hit his first home run in his first at-bat as a Kansas City Royal!

  1. As a lifelong Giants fan, I was sad about the trade. But glad Yaz will have better numbers not having to hit at Oracle Park. And on the plus side, he’ll get to play more at Fenway Park being in the AL

  2. Giants made the right call, his bat is suspect and he goes into huge slumps for long periods of time. He has decent defense but not gold glove type. Giants made the right call.

  3. Life long Giants fan and I gotta say some Giants fans get way too emotionally attached to players which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but let’s be honest Yaz was very mid and up and down the whole time in SF with the exception of 1 year. We get to attached to a player just cuz he’s on the team. Mediocre play has become the norm in SF and being a top tier org in baseball in unacceptable from the front office that has normalized this type of play. Buster is changing that and building back better. Not hating on yaz he’s a good teammate and a ball player I wish him the best

  4. Yaz deserve to play everyday. He'll give you max effort all the time and will surprise your with the accuracy of his arm. Since he's baseball royalty, i think KC will be a good fit! Giants fans will miss him!

  5. Why no mention in the commentary during the at-bat, or in this comment section of who Mike is? Is there that much of a turn-over in baseball to where Carl Yastrzemski, a Hall of Famer considered one of the best to play the game, is not even mentioned?
