MLB LIVE🔴 Toronto Blue Jays vs Kansas City Royals – Aug 2, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

from one Blue Jays way in Toronto. Welcome to Rogers Center. We’ve got open air baseball for you on the show. It’s the Kansas City Royals and the Toronto Blue Jays. And now and we’ll be back with the first pitch right after this. Toronto Blue Jays. So, just about set now. Today’s starting pitcher, number 56. Chris, it’s a little more common these days, but still, he’s a strikeout per inning type of guy. Well, I hear you about the strikeouts. a lot more guys striking out today. But when you consider having the ability to get that strike out, particularly when you need it, a man on third, less than two outs, situations where, yeah, maybe you’re not a real high strikeout guy, but just knowing you have the swing and miss stuff in a big spot, I think it’s real critical and he’s got it. Jonathan India leading things off and takes the strike. line to left and that’s a fair ball. Makes the turn and heads for second and it’s a double to start the game. Batting second that pretty much split the zone down the middle and those are the ones where you got to make them pay. Now here’s Bobby Wit Jr. This guy is one of the best athletes in the sport. Now a fly ball to right center. reaches but can’t make the grab and they’re at the corners with nobody out. Well, that’s a smart decision to hold up with one out and the heart of the order coming up. Don’t want to run into an out at home plate. So, runners at the corners, nobody out. Vinnie Pasquantino steps in for the Royals. And that’s in for a strike with a runner at third. This is who they wanted to play. He’s so good at getting a run across in these situations. And now it’s even up. one. That one missed. It’s a big opportunity right here, but I love the way he’s slowing the game down. He’s shrinking his zone, making sure he gets the pitch that he wants to hit. Lefty out of the stretch. Runners at first and third. Popped up foul territory behind the play. has room and he makes the catch. 94. And here now the lineup for the Royals. Not a team that usually sees a lot of pitches or works a ton of walks, Chris. They take a more aggressive approach than some of the other teams in the league. They definitely have a few free swingers in this lineup. Hitters who want to be on the attack, and that’s great as long as you got pitches in the zone. But if the pitcher is able to expand the zone, can be very difficult for an offense like this to get going. You’ve got to somehow draw some walks, put some runners on base so that when you do have those free swingers come up, you can cash in with some runs that are plated. Felt impressed that he went right after him on that first pitch. That’s the key. Try to get ahead in the count and you can play around a little bit more as the at bat expands. That’s a strike. Don’t play situation here. He’s been working up in the zone. Typically, you look for guys to get that ground ball. See if he adjusts on this next pitch. India the runner at third whit over first with one away swung on belted that one carrying and he brings it into the warning trap runner tagging and head for home run scores easily and the Royals strike first it’s one nothing Perez And now it’s Salvador Perez to the play right through there for a strike. swings through that one out in front that time. All you got to do is concentrate and execute this next pitch. Get yourself out of the jam, back into the dugout. Yeah, there’s a ball. See if he can go upstairs a little bit. Make sure you miss up and out of the zone since you’re heading to count one, two, don’t miss in the zone cuz that’s where you get hurt. Barker tosses to first and they get Perez for the out and that is the third out of the inning. A run on two hits and they leave one. On to the bottom of the first. It’s the Royals one and the Jays nothing. Back here with my pal Singi and towing the slab here, Seth Lugo. Well, coming into this game, hitters are batting under 250 against this starting pitcher. So, it just shows you how effective he’s been. He’s been able to move his pitches around, add and subtract, change up the look so that hitters don’t get too comfortable and start squaring up the baseball. We’ll see what he’s got this one. We go to the bottom of the first and now Nathan Lucas. Pitch misses. And that is ball one kick sand deals. And that’s way high. Ball two. No strike. Check swing. Did he go? Yes, he did. Next offering is fouled back. That one outside and it’s three and two. strike him out swinging. Tied him up on a fast ball inside. You usually are going to see that inside fast ball a little longer coming in from the opposite side, but that pitch really got in on him right there. I mean, that’s a wellthrown pitch. Tough to do anything with that in terms of getting the hands through and the sweet spot of the bat to the baseball. One down, base is empty. Smoked on the ground to second and Bett is retired. Batting third, first. Let’s take a look at the lineup for the Blue Jays. Chris, this is an offense that puts the bat on the ball. tough outs pretty much throughout the lineup and they have fewer strikeouts than any other team in the league. Yeah, Boo. And I I just remember as a player when you’re going up against a club like this, it keeps you on your toes all game long because you got to make plays for your pitcher on the defense. And so an offense like that can really put some pressure on that defense. So they can swing the bats, put it in play, but I also think if they run the bases hard, it adds another element to their game. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. stands in with two away as he takes a ball. Next offering is fouled back. You rewind and think back to those Giants teams that won three world titles. They were pretty good contactbased teams. Obviously the Royals as well. It feels like it’s swinging back a little bit towards there’s an advantage to having some hitters in your lineup that make contact. Batting fourth, third baseman, Addison Barger. Two outs, runner at first. Here’s the third baseman, Addison Barger. Good power. Not great in the OBP department. A swing and a miss. And that’s strike one. That misses the zone. One and one. That’s down and in. Fast ball for a strike. And he hits a ground ball right side, slings to first. That’s the inning. One left for Toronto. They’re down one- nothing. All set for the start of the inning. And to the plate for Kansas City, Adam Frasier. in there at the knees. Man, I mean, nice job just presenting it to be better than it actually was. Swinging a miss and it’s going to Larry Bullard, our umpire behind the plate. Bullard’s got a pretty standard strike zone. Sometimes they’ll have you guessing a little bit, but overall well respected umpire in the league. battling here as he fouls it away. Singing, what kind of strike zone is most frustrating for hitters? I’d say off the plate, away and down and why those are the toughest locations to hit the baseball. As the game has moved along, we see more and more information supplied by teams about the umpires. I’ve been in clubouses where they have pictures of all four guys, nicknames, hometowns, and as well hobbies listed just so you can kind of small talk the umpire a little bit. That’s great. Batting seven, Freddy Fine steps in for the Royals. Good defender. He’s been inconsistent offensively. Closed but called a ball and that’s ball one. One down, base is empty out towards right center field. That one gets down for a hit. Batting eighth, left fielder John Ra. Now the left fielder, John Rae. That’s in there. That’s strike one. And downstairs One ball, one strike. Kansas City. The 1-1 is fouled off. Foul ball still a one and two count. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. He’s locked in at the plate when he’s using the whole field. He was out in front there. Just need to let the ball travel a little more and his timing will be back on track. Good pitch for the strikeout. And now it’s Kyle Isbel swinging a foul back. That’s out of play. For me leads off first with two down to the inning. Out to center. Strong brings it in and that is that. So one left for Kansas City but they lead it one to nothing. We head to the bottom of the second and now the DH Davis Schneider. He’s got which is a little sneaky because he’s so comfortable with taking his base hits to the opposite field, but he can jump you if you make a mistake. Lugo back to work. And that’s way high and it’s one and0. Just miss the ball. breaking ball in there for a strike. Dives and he can’t hang on. He beats the throw and they don’t get the out. No problem beating out the infield hit right there. Good hustle getting down the line. That’s one of those you classify as just too hot to handle. Hit it on the screws and it couldn’t be fielded cleanly, but you can’t really blame the defense in that case. Here’s the second baseman, Will Wagner. in the dirt and no movement on the bases. It’s ball one. Swinging in a line drive. That’s a base hit into center field. runner holds it second, but they’ve got something going on here. Oh, just a nice job coming through in a pretty high leverage spot right there. You often hear the phrase short to it, long through it, and that’s a great example of it right there. Got the barrel in the hitting zone early, squared it up with the welltimed swing and came away with a beautiful line drive into center field. First and second, no outs. Ernie Clemen now at the plate. The shorts stop takes the ball. First and second, no outs. Bottom half of inning number two. Good spot for the hitter. definitely has the advantage in this count with runners on. Look for him to be aggressive on this next pitch. And that one fouled off and a foul ball. stays alive. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. Still two and two after the foul ball. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Good job to fight that one off. Ninth pitch of the at bat. Do next. Swing and a high fly ball out towards right center field. Makes the grab. Runner tags at second and the throws off line. Safe at third. Good read there at second base to move up to third. Now it’s a lot easier to get that run in with one right. Tyler Heinman will hit next. Keep an eye on this at bat because even though it’s early, it could change the outcome of this game. Look for your pitch and attack it. Ball one there. In this situation, the batter’s got to know what the pitcher is trying to do to him, and that’s trying to get him to hit the ball on the ground. Get two for one. You got to look for something up in the zone, and worst case scenario, you deliver the sacrifice fly. Two on, one out. Pitch misses. Now two and0. That one down the line and it’s just foul. That was close. Hammer and this one could be extra bases. One runs in. Runner around third on his way to the plate. The relay save. It’s 2-1. Picks himself up a couple of ribbies. Nice line drive to the pull side. Head it out front, but just stayed through it nice enough and ripped it into the outfield. One out, runner at second. Strong getting ready to hit. fouled off. He was late. Hineman the runner at second with one away. Swing and a high-fly ball right field. India. And there’s two down. Now batting the right fielder Nathan. The batter now Nathan Lucas. His first at bat was a strike out. That one fouled off. swing and a miss. And that is strike two. Two strikes to a guy who’s already 0 for one with a punch out. The only guy in the lineup with that strike out, but you can’t get too relaxed. You still got to make good pitches to get him out. Two outs and one in scoring position. just off the inside edge. Really good take, especially with two strikes. This one in the air. Garcia drops into the glove and that will end the inning, but they’ll pick up a couple runs here. Both coming on this two-run double and it’s now a two-1 ball game. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show and welcome back to the ballpark. Top half of the third inning. Now it’s the right fielder Jonathan India. India measures 6 feet even 200 lb. a former first round pick back in 2018. The one you can do it and a foul ball and that one is lifted in the air. Lucas in position and there’s one away. Now batting shorts stop Bobby Wit Jr. And next up for the Royals, Bobby Wit Jr. One for one with a single so far. You know, Boo, this is a player with some serious speed. In 2023, he became the first player in 20 years to record two infield hits and an inside the park home run in the same game. Close, but called a ball and it’s two and0. Good spot there, but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone. One out. Base is empty. That one finds the zone. Two and two now. fouled off and they’ll do it again. Got him swinging on the curve ball and he’s registered three Ks in this one. Well, I don’t think there’s a hitter alive that hasn’t at some point succumbed to that pitch right there. It just looks like it’s in the zone the entire way and then the top spin and gravity take over in the blink of an eye and just such a tough pitch to lay off of. Pasquantino at the plate now as he chases after that one. That’s the ball. One and one. Next offering is fouled back. Two out. Space is empty. Recognized that change up right out of the hand. Just spit on it. That one not close. And that’s ball three. Mikel Garcia on deck for the Royals. Swing and a miss. Truck him out. And a nice inning of work there as he sets him down. One, two, three. Royals bats are quiet there and our score remains 2-1. Back now in Toronto set for the bottom of the third. And now for the Jays. Bobett. And that one upstairs. Ball one. And that’s through there for a strike. And a count. One and one. There’s a strike. Next pitch is outside. Two balls, two straight. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Fights it off. If you’ll see another and the sweeper is off the plate. He should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with three hole hitter coming up. If he’s walked, line drive and this might be trouble. Now he’ll turn for second and he’s got a leadoff double. Showed a lot of fight with two strikes in that AB. I’ll tell you when you smoke a line drive into the gap like that. I mean sure home runs are king, but I feel like nothing makes you feel like a true professional hitter more than a bolt the other way. Here’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and he’s already singled in this game. First pitch misses. Well, these Blue Jays showing great discipline at the plate and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one. They’re doing a good job of working the pitch count and they’ve been able to push a couple of runs across to score as well. man at second. That’s outside. And now two and 0. Still relatively early, but with a pair of runs already on the board, the ripple effect of that high pitch count might set him up to do more damage later in this game. Hot shot to third. Zips it across and Guerrero is set down. Up next for the Blue Jays, third baseman Addison Barger. Addison Barger the next to hit. He’s 0 for one. Well, Chris, through the early stages, he hasn’t been very efficient in terms of the pitch count. He’s going to need to get some quick outs if he’s going to get deeper into this game. It is interesting though when you consider the way the game is run now. Doesn’t even matter that much if your starter doesn’t go that deep because teams are really aggressively building their both ends just off the outside corner. Going to count one and two. Evidently not too impressed with that call and it feels like he got squeezed on the outside corner. So he’s making his case. You got to be careful to pick your spots in terms of showing your frustration with the umpire and he felt this was his time. He’s got to be frustrated with that call. Wow. That’s a tough call for the hitter, but the pitcher will take that all day long. Not quite in the strike zone, but he found a spot that the umpire is going to at least for now allow him to get that call. So, hitters are going to have to make an adjustment. But pitchers are going to learn from those things and really try to exploit them if they can. Davis Schneider now at the plate. Reached on an infield single his first time and that drops in for a strike. Two outs and it’s quickly nothing and two on the designated hitter. Liner and this could be trouble. Bett around third and headed home. He’ll score. Puts a run on the board and picks up an RBI. Pretty much a model swing on that one as he ripped it into the opposite field gap. And I’m sure he’s going to be watching that one back on video because that’s the kind of swing you want to bottle. So many positives that led to that knock. So runner at second, two down. So up next for Toronto, Will Wagner, swing and a highf fly ball out towards right field. Nabs it and that’s the third out. The Jays push across a run on this double and this is now a 31 ball game. It’s Major League Baseball on the show. Back here at Rogers Center now, the third base, Mel Garcia. Garcia headed towards the corner and that is a foul ball. Well, these Royals as this game goes on have to be more disciplined at the plate. They’re chasing a lot of pitches outside the zone and those chases are turning into a bunch of outs. Can they turn that around and stay within the zone? We’ll see. But I think they have to now to short jumps, throws. It’s there. And that’s a great play. Now that the designated hitter, Salvador, an impressive jump throw from the hole at short. Let’s see what Stackcast has to say. Now he’s just showing off out there. I mean, I don’t know if fans realize how much arm strength you need to make that throw. This guy’s got a rocket of an arm. And that was on full display right there. Just an awesome job. So now the DH spot. Salvador Perez. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. And a pop off right side. Foul territory. Guerrero puts it away. Two up, two down. Man, he just couldn’t lay off right there. Those high fast balls, they just look really good because they’re eye level, but they’re just about impossible to get the barrel to. Two down, base is empty. Here’s Adam Frasier. Struck out swinging his first time. And that one is in the dirt. Ball one. Swinging a ground ball. The throw to first and it’s a one, two, three inning. Nothing doing it for the Royals. Score holds. It’s 3-1. And we’re back. Bottom of the inning. Now here is Ernie Clement. Ernie Clement. Let’s do it. The wind to the pitch right side India and out number one on the grab. Now batting catcher Tyler Tyler Heinman digs in now. Doubled in his first AB. And that one fouled off in the air. Left field down the line. Ray makes the grab on the run. Those can be pretty fun as an outfielder. got to put it into his highest gear and go a long way to track that one down. Nothing better than that. You feel like a wide receiver playing football. Let’s go. Straw the next to hit. Takes ball one. Two down, nobody on. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. This one popped up. Foul ground first base side. Pasquantino makes the catch and that’ll do it. No runs, no hits, no errors. We played four. It’s the Blue Jays three and the Royals won. And welcome back to the ballpark top five. John Shabi with Chris Singleton. And leading it off, Freddy Fine. Little bit low. Well, these Royals just lacking discipline at the plate in this ball game. They’ve been chasing pitches outside the zone all game and it’s led to some frustrating moments. They’ve been fooled quite a bit today. Lucas coming on. One away. So up now for Kansas City. John Ray 0 for one. He struck out swinging last time. swings and pulls a foul to the right side in the air right side. Lucas coming on. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. And there’s two away. Now batting center fielder Kyle Isbel. Here’s the center fielder Kyle Isbel. He’s 0 for one. Hit on the ground to the right side and foul ball. Swing and a ball popped in the air and it stays fair around first and hustling for second. the throw in and he’ll make it to second base with two gone. The first move felt like a bit of a guess. You have to be right in those spots or things can get away from you awfully quickly. Jonathan Indie at the plate. One for two. Swang in a line drive. Base hit it to left field. Here’s the throw to the plate. Save. In comes the run from second. And they trail by one. Oh, that’s a lonely feeling for an outfielder. The read wasn’t great. And it really hurts when it cost your team a run. Bobby Wit Jr. getting ready to hit. The shorts stop takes the ball. India off of first with two away. Slashed foul down the right side. That’ll hook off into the seats. Two balls, one straight. And a base hit right there. And now first and second with two outs. Up next for the Royals, first baseman Vinnie. And now the first baseman, Vinnie Pasquantino. Go for two in this one. Fast ball for a strike. 0 and one. Traffic on the bases with one already in. And we’re in the top of the fifth. and ball one. The only adjustment he needs to make is his target. If you aim at the outside corner, that slider’s going to end up way off the plate. Perhaps look a little more down the middle and you get it right where you want it. And now two and one. Well, he’s just given up three straight hits and now behind in this count to this hitter. Might be a good time for somebody to call a timeout. Maybe the pitching coach to go out there and talk to him just a little bit. Two on, two outs. That one pulled foul. Keeps the advant going with a foul ball. Two outs on the ground right side and that’s just foul. Good battle here. About to be the eighth pitch of the at bat. Spoils that one and it remains two and two. swing and a ball drilled in the air towards right center field. He’s got it. And that’s the third out, but the RBI single pushes across a run. It’s now a 32 ball game. Back after this on the show. Back now in Toronto, ready to go for the last half of the inning. And the batter now, Nathan Lucas. Lucas. Lugo back to work. And that’s in for a strike. 0 and one. Well, these Jays doing a good job of simply getting the bat on the ball in this game. And the numbers back that up. The numbers tell us they’re averaging more than a hit every inning. And they’ve only struck out twice. So they keep finding ways to put their bat on the ball. One up, one down. Now batting left fielder Bo Bett. Bo Bette up to the dish. Well, on the mound, very efficient, able to produce an outcome it seems like within the third or fourth pitch of just about every at bat. That one misses. And that’s ball one. Base is empty. One away. Last half of inning number five. Next pitch is downstairs. Yeah. A big swing and a miss. As a hitter, you got to learn something from that pitch. He clearly wasn’t timed up on the fast ball. In a two- count, you have to be ready to do damage. Swing and a popup. Foul territory for the catcher. Has room and he makes the catch. Up next for the Blue Jays, first baseman, Vladimir Guerrero. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for now. And that one is in for a strike. Hot shot to first base and he snags it to end the inning. Down in order go the Blue Jays, but they’re up three to two. All right, we go to the top half of inning number six. Here’s the third base, Mikel Garcia. That one’s upstairs. Ball one. That catches the top part of the zone. And that is strike one. That one missed. That one misses. Ball three. I almost feel like he’s frustrated a little bit. He wants to be challenged. Salvador Perez in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. That’s in there. Boy, that was the pitch. 3-1. You want to be really aggressive on the fast. got him now. Five strikeouts for him on the mound. My bad. So, here’s the Royals DH Salvador Perez. Perez goes 6 feet 3 in. 34y old vet and he’s usually a catcher. Today, he gets off his legs a bit. He’s the DH. Sends it to first and they get Perez for the owl. Now batting second base Adam Frasier. Adam Frasier steps in for the Royals. And there’s a ball. Foul ball. The 1-1 is fouled off. Here’s a one, two. And that’s outside. Two down, nobody on. And we’re the top half of the sixth. And a popup on the left side of the infield and makes the grab and that’ll do it. Three up, three down that time. To the bottom of the six we go. 456 coming up. It’s the Blue Jays three and the Royals two. Back now for the bottom of the sixth. And there’s a new pitcher on the mound. Thomas Hatch in a game for the first time this season. Thomas Hatch. And now the Toronto cleanup hitter Addison. Third base Addison Barger. And that’s way high. Ball one. Movement in the bullpen. John Shriber up and throwing. Next offering is in for a strike. That’s a ball. And there’s a foul ball. gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. And that’s a base hit. And they have their first hit since the third inning. Now batting designated hitter Davis. So digging in Davis Schneider. And a breaking ball drops in for a strike. Swing and a miss as he was out front that time. 0 and2 now in the dirt and an excellent job keeping it right there. fights that one away. Still one and two. Barker aboard here at first with nobody out. Cuts and misses. It’s a strikeout. Now batting now at the plate, Will Wagner. Will Wagner and that one in there at the knees for a strike and it’s one who in the dirt block one strike. man at first. One away. Lifted in the air down the left side and it stays fair. They get it in quickly. So, first and second now, one out. Just a blue pit behind third right there. That’s a really tough play for a third baseman or shortstop to get to and the same for the left fielder. So he just found a perfect place to drop that one in right there. First and second, one out. Clement will hit next. Off the mark there. And that is ball one. Runners at first and second with one gone here in the bottom of the sixth. just missed ball. Cut on and lifted in the air. Pulls it down and he makes the catch and there are two outs. A little drop and drive on that swing. backside collapsing just a little bit trying to put the ball in the air. And now the catcher comes up to him. Tyler Heinman. Well, he came up clutch earlier in this ball game and really just needs to take the same approach. Think hard right back up the middle and a foul ball. Oh, one right side. Frasier whips it to first. Inning over. Blue Jays leave a pair, but they still lead it 3-2. Now pitching. Welcome back. We’re in the seventh. We have a new pitcher on the mound, Brendan Little. This southpaw’s been really good against left-handed hitters. Here’s the catcher to hit. Freddy Forer Freddy for me. Swing and a tapper that rolls foul and that’s down and away. Just missed with that back door breaking ball. If he gets a swing and miss or called strike 02 count instead it’s 1-1. Look for him to go back to that pitch later in this at bat. Ground ball up the middle. Clement in plenty of time to first and they get the lead off hitter in the seventh. That’s a huge defensive play in the late stages of the game. It might not be the most challenging we’ve seen today, but it needed to be made. That’s helping your team. Ray in the box again takes a strike. Movement in the Blue Jays bullpen. Sir Anthony Dominguez appears to be getting loose. Rodriguez warming up as well. Looking to get the tying run on base and it’s one and one. late that time. It’s strike two. Good late sink on that fast ball out of the hand. Looks so good. And then by the time he gets in the hitting zone, hard to get the barrel to it, holding on to a one-run lead here in the top half of inning number seven. swing and that ball smashed on a line and that’s a base hit. Now batting the center fielder, Kyle Isel. And to the plate for Kansas City, Kyle Isel and fouled off. misses inside at one and one strike. Squirts away a little bit. Nice job behind the plate there. One- run game. One out, one on. Right back to the mound. Could be an easy two. Quickly to second for one. Throw to first, but he beat it. Good armside run to that same side hitter right there. Very diffic on the hands. Here comes the skipper out of the dugout and he’s ready to make the move. Brendan Little done for the afternoon and he leaves in a one-run game. New pitcher coming on. We’ll be back in a minute. Now pitching, Sir Anthony Dominguez will take over here. He’s got some of the best swing and miss stuff going right now. Striking out hitters at a very high rate this year. So this should be fun to watch. Jonathan India the next to hit. Yeah, that’s fouled off. Right now, they’re looking for something. Hit hard into the gaps. Give them an opportunity with two outs to score that run from first. And there’s a rocket into the outfield. Lead runner makes the turn at second. Coming home. He’ll score and they’ve tied it. Well done. drives in the Ron. Anytime you rip a line drive the other way, you feel really good about what you did at the plate. You trusted your hands. You let the ball travel and you took the barrel straight to it. That’s great work right there. Now, a huge bat in this game coming up. And now a huge bat coming up as Bobby Wit Jr. steps in that catches the zone for a strike. It’s 0 and one. Two down. Go ahead run in scoring position. That misses the zone and the count is one and one. That’s good pitch there. Billy had some run and finished little up and in just on the edge and that’s one of those if you swing at it. He had a broken back as you drive back to the dugout. Fouls it off. Still one and two and a swing and a miss. That ends the inning and they limit the damage. Royals pick up one on this triple. We’re tied now with three a piece. We’re back and a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh, Lucas. And he’s been really shutting down hitters from the right side of the plate this year. Not a lot of hard contact, not a lot of hits, period. And now the center fielder center fielder Miles Straw and a strike right through there. that one in triple digits. On the ground to the left tosses to first and one away in the bottom of the seventh. Now batting the right fielder Nathan Lucas. And now the right fielder Nathan Lucas 0 for three in this one. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. All tied up here in the bottom of the seventh. That misses the zone and that’s ball one. One ball, one strike. Right through there for a strike and misses inside. Just off the outside edge. He’s really tightening up his hitting zone with two strikes here. I love it. Outside and that is ball four. One gone. Runner at first. Bulg next up for the Blue Jays. One for three. Breaking ball through there for a strike. Well, an at bat can be a little bit of a dance. Strike one here, but few more pitches. We’ll see how it turns out. One away. Tie game. Go ahead run stands at first. Check swing and he went. No balls, two strikes. Got him. Larry Bullard rings him up. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. now at the plate. You have to be careful throwing him breaking pitches even in an O count. He loves going after the off speed stuff and he’s really good at hitting it. first pitch and he just misses. It’s a tough pitch, but in terms of the best pitch you’re going to get to hit in the at bat, that fast ball was down enough where you’re going to catch up to one, that’s the one. When he elevates, hitters aren’t touched. Next offering is in for a strike. One and two. inside and hit him. He had two strikes on him and he hit him. And next will be the cleanup hitter, Addison Barger. Third base, Addison Barger. Off the mark there. Ball one. Wow. Triple digits on the gun. I I know there are more pitchers that can reach that now than in the past, but it’s still impressive to watch. In the air, left side, Ray sizes this one up, squeezes it, and that is the inning. Back here at Rogers Center. And here’s the first baseman, Vinnie Pasquantino. The Royals. First baseman, Vinnie Pascantino. Dominguez back to work. Ball one, no strikes. Toronto’s bullpen with some action. Jeff Hoffman, the veteran right-hander, appears to be loosening up. Rodriguez also throwing pitch misses. Two and0. You get to this part of the order. Yeah, there’s some pop there, but more likely there’s some base hits. So very important to be patient. Let the pitcher walk you if you will. To the right side, dives, but it kicks off his glove. Safe at first as they can’t make the play. down. Third base, Mel Garcia. Go ahead. Run on base. Now the third baseman Mikel Garcia and that is downstairs and it’s one and0. And that one a little bit high. Running that good fast ball up on the hitters inside. If nothing else, keeps him from diving out over the plate to get those arms extended on the pitch away. Swings through that one for strike one. Well, at that velocity, if that’s all you’re seeing, 88, you can handle that all day long. That’s what you get in batting practice. But off the velocity of the fast ball, that is a very tough pitch to adjust to. Got him. One gone here. Well, just couldn’t pull the trigger on the fast ball right there. And I don’t think he was taking it, thinking it might be a cold ball or anything. I just think he was flying frozen. Did not expect that location in my opinion. And next up for the Royals, Salvador Perez. first offering and it just misses on the ground. A second might be two. There’s one relay to Guerrero in time in an ending double play. No runs, one hit, no errors, and no one left. Home half of inning number eight straight ahead. All tied up at three a piece. Now pitching for back now. New pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth. Anel Serp. And compared to a lot of other relievers, strikeouts have not been a big weapon for him this year. So, the defense should be active. Now, it’s the DH Davis Schneider. Designated hitter Davis Schneider delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95. Just missed. Next offering in there for a strike and a count one and two on the ground to third and it goes just foul. That missed by a lot. Two and two. And he can’t come up with it. Gets off a throw and it’s in time. It wasn’t the smoothest play you’ll see today, but they still get the out. Will Wagner Will Wagner next up for the Blue Jays. Base is empty, one away here. The bottom half of the eighth inning. And that misses. One and one. Action in the pen down there. Taylor Clark getting loose out there. One down. Base is empty on the ground. Right side. Pasquentino takes it to the bag and that quickly two away. Well, there’s a lot writing on that at bat right there. Nice job of the pitcher to bear down, make the pitch, get the ground ball. Excellent piece of work. And now the shorts stop. Ernie Clement. Three flyyous already. He’s 0 for three. And that one is inside ball one. Fouled off down the right side. Two down. Nobody on. Rolled softly but that goes foul. Started after the one two pitch. Appeal to first and he went around. Not an easy call there, but that puts an end to the inning. Blue Jays go down in order, so no change in the score. It’s 3-3. New inning getting started. So up now for Kansas City. Adam Frasier. That one the other way. Makes the catch. One down. It’s never fun going back to the dugout after hitting the line drive and it finds a glove. But you will get some high fives. You know, when you make great contact, you feel like you’ve done everything right. But in this game of baseball, not everything is in your control. Fine in the box now. Takes strike one. And I know you want to be patient as a hitter, but you got to be ready to jump on the first thing straight. And he got one right there. but left the bat on his shoulder and a couple of quick outs. Now batting left fielder John Ray. Here’s the left fielder John Rae. and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. And there’s a strike here at 98. All right. Now, he may have not liked either of those first two pitches or agreed with the umpire’s calls, but at this point, he’s going to have to bear down and be ready to hit anything close to the zone. Outside and it’s one and two. Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. swings and misses on the fast up in the zone for the strike out. So they go quietly there. 891 do up in the bottom of inning number nine. All tied up at three apiece. Back now as they hand the ball to a fresh arm to start the bottom of the ninth. John Shriber. Well, he’s been excellent against left-handed hitters this year, and that’s his first test. This looks like a good move to the pen in terms of the matchup. Now, the catcher up to Tyler Heinman. Catcher. Tyler Heinman. Check swing called strike. Activity in the bullpen. Carlos Estz, the closer is getting loose. You’ll one outside. One strike. That one finds the zone and it’s one and two. Next offering miss is down and away. They tried to get him to go chase the pitch down and away, but he wouldn’t bite. Foul ball. Another 2-2 upcoming. Spoils a two- strike pitch. And he’ll see another tapped on the ground softly to short. Now the throw to first on the run on the money. Nice play. Now batting center fielder Miles Strong. So they’re making a move for a bat off the bencher. And this is a big and bad coming boo. Definitely a little added pressure on him here. Down and away for ball one. All tied up. We’re in the last half of the ninth inning. That one outside. Two balls, no strikes. Just missed. Nathan Lucas in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. And there’s the automatic three in one. fought off foul. Three and two now. Got him swinging. And next for Toronto, Nathan Lucas. Nathan Lucas right through there for a strike. Flips the corner and the count is 0 and two. just off the outside part of the plate. I don’t know how you take that one after the called strike on the corner. Just a little bit off the edge. And that’s a fair ball. Substitution being made at first. Coming in as a pinch runner, Joey Lrafido. So two down. Bobette next up for the Blue Jays. One for four with a double. First offering. Runner goes. Pitch misses. Throw to second and out there. And that ends the inning. Well, trying to get in scoring position, but a great catch and throw to end the inning. That’s the way to pick up the pitcher. Now pitching. We’re back. And on the mound is the closer Jeff Hoffman. Well, he’s got electric stuff coming out of the pin. His strikeout rate though is through the roof so far this season. So, the go-ahead run in scoring position. Kyle Isbel steps in for the Royals. And the first pitch misses for ball one. And another ball. Not showing great command so far in this at bat. 20 count. He’s got to execute here or this could get ugly. There’s the strike. 95 of that one. Three ball one straight. Jonathan India in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. Swing and a miss. And that’s strike two. And the swing a miss down on strikes, one out. Just beautiful placement of the splitter right there. Exactly where you want it with two strikes to get that swing and miss. He’s worked very hard to be able to command that pitch. It’s a tough pitch to get a grip on, but he’s one of the best at throwing it where he wants to. Now it’s the right fielder, Jonathan India. He’s got a single, a double, and a triple in this game. A home run gets him the cycle. Swings and misses. And that’s strike one. One out. The go-ahead run is at second. Ah, ground ball and that’s through the infield around third. Now a long throw home, but it’s offline. will score four to three. They take the lead. That bat had a lot riding on it. Certainly a pivotal swing of the bat in this ball game. Not much to this one other than just a willingness to go the other way and put the ball in play. That’s a team at bat right there. Nice job of staying back and letting the ball get deep. Bobby Wit Jr. steps in for the Royals. Swinging a foul out of play. movement in the Blue Jays bullpen. Tommy Nance, the young right-hander up and throwing. Rodriguez also getting ready. India at first, one gone. swings through that one for strike two. Clearly was sitting on a fast ball right there and just ended up out in front of the slider. Hey, you can’t fault him for his commitment. Now he’s just going to have to battle with two strikes. This one in the dirt. Got it. the out away. So up next, Vinnie Pascantino. Vinnie Pasino. And that’s in for a strike. The kick in the pitch. Runner goes. There’s a ball. Throw to second. Out at second. That ends the inning, but they pick up one run on the RBI single. It’s now a 43 ball game. You’re watching Major League Baseball exclusively on the show. Back now. And on the mound, a closer Carlos Estz. Save opportunity for him right here. And he’s the runner in scoring position. No outs. Now, what are you looking to do in these spots? You’re down a run. You’re leading off the inning. He’s not a power hitter. A guy that’s looking to tie it up with one swing. So, he’s going to take and get into this at bat. Line drive. Base hit play. He’ll score easily. It’s an RBI single and again we are tied. Such great concentration. Everybody on their feet knowing that you can come through with a good swing. And there he doesn’t try to do too much. And now it’s going to be Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ripped but a curls foul. and fouled off with two strikes. May see some movement over there at first base. Trying to stay out of the double play right here. The O2. That’s the ball. That’s foul off to the right side. Keeps the AB going. Winning run on base at first. No outs. Foul ball still a one and two count. Tied at four. Popped up foul territory behind the plate. Brings it in and there’s one away. Now that third baseman Addison Barger. Here’s the third baseman Addison Barger. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. And another ball. Oh, he’s really working him away this at bat. Sometimes take a little bit off velocity. Try to get a roll over something on the ground. Stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield. Runner takes off and that’s fouled off. Hit hard but foul off to the left. One down. Winning run on first. That’s off the mark and it counts four. On this count, runner not known for speed, but I think you got to put him in motion. Try to avoid a double play here, boo. Back to work. 3-2 now. He fouls it off. We’ll do it again. One down. Winning run on first. Ball four. He walked in and that keeps things going. Well, a breaking ball in that 32 count kind of tells you that that’s the pitch he has the most confidence in right now. Just couldn’t find the strike zone. Two on, one out. Davis Schneider getting ready to hit. And that one fouled off. Two on, one out. Up and in. Ball one. One ball, one strike. Winning run stands at second. And now the count is even. Oh, and he hit him. for the blue. So bases all loaded up now. It’s the second baseman will golden opportunity right here. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. One and0 played umpires trying to tighten things up a little bit. Two balls, no strike. Pressure’s on right here. Two count. Base is loaded. You don’t want to fall to a three ball count and then walk in or on. He’s got to challenge the hitter right here. There’s a strike. I think ultimately you want to tie him up, get the ball in on the plate so that he can’t get the barrel to it and hit it to the outfield. In the air, fairly deep to right field. India sizing this one up. Drops into the glove. Runners tag up from second and third. Acrosses the winning run and the Blue Jays walk it off in extra innings. These can be tough at bats when you know you’ve got to get the ball in the air. At worst case scenario, that pitcher is going to try to tie you up, throw you up and in. But he did a good job pulling the hands through extension to put that ball deep enough out into the outfield to score that run and win this game. Close one here today and your final 54 for Chris Singleton and our entire crew. I’m John Shabi saying so long. Heat. Heat.
