They came up with a base hit. Now it’s a 3-1 game. And then Gunner Henderson off of Caleb Theobbar way up and way out to center field. Pete Cormstrong could only look up and watch it sail into the bleachers. A three-run jack. 4-3. Cubs do absolutely nothing in the eighth. In the ninth, they did get two men on, but they could not plate the game tying or gamewinning runs. PCA strikes out to end the ball game. And there’s your loss. And that one sucks. It really does. Brewers are playing a really lousy Washington Nationals team uh today. You could look up and be two back again because you can’t take care of business late in ball games. Cubs got two RBI’s from Nicoer. He continues to produce. They also got a Reese Maguire sacrifice fly. And that was that the offense right now that we raved about the first 2 and 1/2 months just has not been good enough. And today your bullpen cost you cuz you wasted an outstanding start from one of the better pitchers this season in the National League. The Chicago Cubs were burned by their bullpen on Saturday after Matthew Boyd pitched 7 shutout innings and striking out 8. The Baltimore Orioles scored 4 in the 8th off of two Cub relievers, capped off by a Gunnar Henderson GW HR and Kap is pissed, saying simply ‘that sucked!’ As the Brewers continue to do their business in Washington, the Cubs are in danger of sliding to 2 games back in the NL Central. Inexcusable loss, but that’s what happens when you don’t address your biggest needs.

  1. That was brutal. Boyd deserves better. Top of the lineup did zilch! New guy out performed them all. Bullpen is never a sure thing, not even freaking close! Shite, that was a horrible loss!

  4. Cubs are not making the playoffs. And they better not give Tucker a $500 million contract. The way he's playing lately he does not deserve that kind of money

  6. I understand you can’t win them all, but you can’t lose games you get the lead in. Milwaukee won so the division lead is two games away. And, this was yet another game when the offense wasn’t very good…no action on the bases. Hoerner reached three times, Berti was a pinchrunner after the Kelly walk. Neither one even TRIED. That’s been a disturbing trend of late. It’s not like they’re not reaching base or grinding out ABs; I still see that, but once they’re on, they’re not scoring enough. Get back to being pests out there! KTLM!!

  7. Hitters like Tucker, Suzuki, Happ, Swanson, and PCA need to pick it up.Don't need to be all world but how about average and we could be winning more games.Can't rely on this pitching because it will falter.

  30. I have been so excited about this team all year! I couldn’t wait for the trade deadline to improve! What a failure! I was going to get tickets to go see them and now I am so mad I can’t even stand it! What a freaking horrible trade deadline. Brewers will win the division (again) and cubs will be lucky to make a wildcard and get bounced immediately! Trash!

  31. We need a spark…….bring up Owen Caissie and Kevin Alcantara and see what they can do. They're both tearing the cover off the ball. These veteran guys are too comfortable and need a fire lit under their rear ends. Happ doing a whole lot of nothing yet again. He needs to be sat down and replaced with Caissie. We won the 2016 World Series with rookies that were called up and were hot.

  32. Jed had no balls to make a trade to get some top dogs in the bullpen now we got crap in the bullpen. They're not gonna win a division or a wildcard. They deserve that.

  33. I blame this more on the offense. Got to add on so the 8th inning doesn't happen. When that leadoff walk happened in the 8th I said here we go.

  36. This team was playing WAY above their norm during the first three months of the season. I just don't believe they are a championship team (or a division championship team for that matter). This could be one of those losses where they go off the rails.
