Yankees vs. Marlins Highlights (8/2/25) | MLB Highlights

Settle on in. We’re about ready for takeoff here from Lone Depot Park this afternoon. Another huge crowd expected this afternoon. Last night, it was just another night for Jacob Marcy. On base three times, couple of walks and he got his first big league knock. He’s back in center field for the Marlins in game two of this three-game weekend series against the New York Yankees this afternoon. on the mound for the Marlins coming off a terrific July. It’s the hardthrowing young right-hander Yuri Perez. In July, Yuri was 3-1 and a 1.29 earned run average in five starts. Gisham two for four with a home run and three RBI’s in game one. Looks like there’s trouble with the pitch comp. We’re seeing more and more of this of late and the 3-2 and he walked him. kind of threw off the rhythm. I thought of that at bat with a couple of stops and with the pitch comp for Yori Perez. Here’s Dominguez. Three hits yesterday. There’s a swing in a miss. Good slider from Yuri. First strike out of the ball game for the Marlins right-hander. What a great test for any pitcher, especially a 22-year-old to have the disruptions that he’s had. Make some good pitches and good breaking ball there to put away a guy who had three hits last night, Jason Dominguez. That’ll bring Bellinger to the plate for the Yankees. And the pitch runner goes thrown to second. That’s the first stolen base of the year for Gish. Yeah, this is definitely something that the Yankees came into this series. We talked about the problems with the Marlins. Almost 10%. Look, he’s not even 100% and he can still steal the bases easily. Well, Hicks now 4 for 38 catching attempted base steelers. Bellinger reached for that. And it sounded like he got a piece, but Hicks caught it. It was a slow curve ball and Cody Bellinger loses the battle on the 10th pitch. It was a foul tip. Bellinger is making his case with the home plate umpire Alex McKay that that ball hit the ground, but I don’t think he’s got a case. So, backto-back strikeouts for Yuri after the leadoff walk to Gisham who is still stuck at second base. Now there’s two outs for Stanton. That is ripped into left field down for a base hit. Gisham will try to score. Here comes the throw on the money and gone. What a throw by Kyle Sters in left. Smoked off the bat at 111 m an hour. Sters got it on a couple of hops. He came up firing and he had Grisome dead to rights at the plate. Beat him by 10 ft and the inning is over. Well, he’ll coming back and Strowman being released as part of this rotation. You talk about his fast baller. He has been averaging 98 on his fast ball. Only 219 average against it. Xavier Edwards leads off. Two fast ball. Strike three called. Edwards is saying, “Hey, not close.” TK was adamant. That was a strike, pal. Take a seat. All right. Now, that was a 98 mph fast ball. At worst, Cam Schlitler has a fast ball that plays all by itself. Sir Sters, who threw out Trent Gisham by what, 20 ft? Swing and a miss. 99 mph. There’s Augustine Ramirez who proved to be a big part of the Marlins win last night. And that is ripped in the air deep to left. Way out of here for Augustine. He just one up Stanton in the exit velocity department. You talk about a solid base. This creates this type of swing. Enjoying the moment is Austinine Ramirez against his former organization, the New York Yankees. 16 of the year. And you know what? There there have been some bad tosses and bad flips so far. A little edgy between these two teams. Chisman a little bit of a slump. Three hits and 23 at bats with nine strikeouts during that time. 3-2 pitch. Fast ball. Wow. A capture Hicks held it there a long time. That was a 5050 call. Ball four Jazzes aboard to open up the second inning. So here’s Paul Goldmid slumping in his last seven games. Just two hits in 21 at bats. Popped him up. Edwards coming back onto the dirt. He’s got it. There’s two away. Throw it to first. Got him. Oh wow. Heads up for Vicks. And what a bizarre read from the former Marlin Jazz Chisum. Four to three on the popup double play. And Chisum is out on the base pads. Wow. Well, when the inning ended, he stays out on the field. Somebody brings him his glove, he goes right to second. This is the first time he entered the dugout. And Aaron Boon, you could see, walking him down the runway. He had some things to say. Here is Jacob Marcy. First big league game yesterday. Got a double, three walks. 3-1 in the air to right field. This is Deep Bellinger going back. He’ll give it a look. And it’s off the wall on his way to second. Marcy, he’s got a pair of hits in the big leagues. He’s got a pair of doubles and he just missed his first homer. Oh, yeah. Mom and dad getting into it now. It’s getting old hat. Just take that inside fast ball on a 3-1 pitch. Got himself in great count leverage and took advantage of it. Runner goes throw to third. Got him. Ben Rice with a bullet to McMahon placing the tag on Morsy. All right, you explain this one, Michael. Stealing third with two outs. I don’t know. It’s a different game, Paul. Here is Ramirez. He’s the only blemish against Schlitler so far. In the air to left center. Got a chance. Come on, baby. Gone. Steve Ramirez has hit his second home run of the game in his many bats against his former organization, the Yankees. Two solo shots. Rice hit the ball hard fairly deep right center but was run down by Marcy that was in the second and he rips this one to right field on the run is Myers. He’s not going to get there and it’s off the base of the wall. Rice is at second with a one out double and a walk. So first and second, one man out. Yankees have a chance here. The red hot Brian McMahon got him. Basketball at the knees locks him up. Well, we we showed you the graphic of the success he’s had with that four seamer. Here it is just creasing a piece of the strike zone at the lower part. Here is Vulpi. Had a huge night last night. Ground ball hit softly left side. Paulie cuts off Lopez. Fires it to first and the inning is over. And Yuri Perez strands two. We’re halfway home. It’s two nothing Marlins. So here is Xavier Edwards. Edwards 0 for two against Schlitler and down goes Edwards. Two-way by being ahead in the count, you can throw that breaking ball down and in to lefties and get a swing and a miss. So here’s Sters. Warner goes strike three. Sters down for the third time. That indeed is baseball. That guy had a fabulous night last evening and he can’t get arrested here this afternoon. He’s 0 for three with three strikeouts. Tyler Phillips is on to pitch for the Marlins. A lot of character when he’s on the mound. He is a competitor. He really likes to pump himself up and a lot of character when he’s on the mound. He is a competitor. But when he goes into the game, he wants to make sure he’s ready for that as he gets one pitch, a ground out for the first out. They’re really just enjoying themselves out there and they think that that’s part of the reason why they’re finding so much success. Nicely done by Xavier Edwards. Thank you very much, Kelly. And there’s two away here in the eighth. No runs, two hits for the Yankees this afternoon. Popped them up sky high right side of the infield. First baseman Wagaman underneath drifting to the spot. He makes the catch and the inning is over. We go to the top of the ninth and the top of the order is due up for the New York Yankees. And on to pitch for the Miami Marlins is Calvin Foch. See some cutters and sweepers. Few curve balls. See if Calvin Foch can nail down save number 11. ripped to second. Ax has got it. Two pitches, one out. Well, that’s 12 in a row the the Marlins have retired since that double off the bat of Rice in the fifth inning. Dominguez for three today. Take a seat. Two away. Oh, the cutter just kept boring in on Dominguez. Last licks for Bellinger. Bosch trying to lock it down. 2-1. Chopper to first. Should do it. ball game over. Six straight series wins for the Marlins and they blank the Yankees two nothing here today. When you have the pitching that the Marlins had today, Yuri, six incredible innings. Enriquez, Phillips, Foch picking up save number 11. And then you just turn it over the offense to Augustine Ramirez with two rocket shots. That’s how you put together a two to nothing victory.

  1. Miami's closer slapping himself… I can buy that its his way of psyching himself up, but wouldn't you do that IN the bullpen? Stepping through the gate and waiting till the cameras are on you and all eyes in the stadium are on you, now it just seems performative and gimmicky

  2. Thanks for The Gus Bus Yankees. Y’all can keep Jazz. Lazy base running. Yeah that tracks. Oh, and your third base coach is not smart. Stowers had the ball when that dude hit the 3rd base bag. Geez

  3. 2:55 “that was a strike take a seat” that pissed me off cause the yankees commentator can be talking when they lost 13-12 vs the marlins yesterday and lost today 2-0, how bout he takes a seat
