BREAKING: New York Jets CLAIM Mario Goodrich | More Cornerback Depth

All right, guys. What’s going on? Welcome in. So, we have some breaking Jets news coming out. Now, it’s looking like the team has just brought in another corner. Mario Goodrich, former uh former Clemson Tiger star. I actually really really liked his game back in college. Spent some time with the Eagles. Has some NFL regular season experience. Only four games, but it’s still noteworthy to talk about, right? Coming into the league as an undrafted free agent. the fact that he was actually able to start a game with Philly, get that NFL experience, that’s a win in and of itself. Um, also spent time on the Giants practice squad, and then most recently he was on the Birmingham Stallions of the UFFL and was pretty damn productive if we’re being honest here. 17 tackles, six pass breakups, three forced fumbles in seven games. Now, here we are again talking about Aaron Glenn and this Jets team kind of headed up on the defensive side of football by two guys with the defensive back background. Obviously, Aaron Glenn has coached and played it and then Steve Wilks is coached at a pretty high level before in the past, right? That’s how he really worked his way up through the NFL DB coach. Uh last week uh I I literally I I think if my memory serves me correctly, one week ago today, the Jets claimed Ryan Cooper, former Miami Dolph and the former Baltimore Raven. And he actually, quick side note, he had a great uh practice today in the green and white scrimmage. Two pass breakups. Two pass breakups for Ryan Cooper. And the thought process last weekend was, okay, hey, you know what? If Aaron Glenn, the former corner, Aaron Glenn, the great defensive back coach, someone who’s developed numerous guys on multiple teams here, if he wants a corner, you know what? I I think I’m going to trust him. You know, now, who knows? Only time will tell here, but then you throw on top of it the Steve Wils whole, you know, the DB background as well. It just makes you think, hey, you know what? There’s a lot a lot of knowledge about the cornerback and safety position just between these two coaches. We’re not even talking about the, you know, positional coaches or anything like that. Just between head coach and DC, not even including Darren Muji into the mix, just those two guys, there’s so much information. So again, as a Jet fan, you feel pretty good about the decisions to add secondary members. You just feel like they’re in great hands with this New York Jets team. Now, we take a look at the current fit with the Jets. Obviously, corner is stacked. It’s a stacked room, man. Gardner Carter, uh, Brandon Stevens who’s turning heads, Quuantes Stiggers, JBC, Aar Thomas. This room, there’s a lot of talent here, man, and they’re being coached up. A lot of guys are are, it seems like they’re moving in the right direction. So, how much room really is there for Mario? Only time will tell. Obviously, the Jets made this move for a reason. Uh, Jaylen Simpson went down with an injury in today’s practice. That’s kind of the whole transaction here. But, uh, you know, if you take a look at why Goodrich was let go in Denver, same reason, right? You look at the Denver the Broncos quarterback room, it’s freaking loaded. Just, uh, I mean, obviously Patam, you have Riley Moss, Jade Baron, who is just a first round pick. Like, that’s a pretty stacked room. And Vance Joseph, believe it or not, is actually my favorite defensive. Like, when you just look at pure defensive scheme and play calls, Vance Joseph is my favorite one out of the, you know, current NFL coaches. uh really really does a good job with getting a defense to play collectively as one unit. Uh just everyone knows where they need to be. All these players are developing. Uh like you you’ve seen numerous pass rushers develop under Vance Joseph throughout the course of his, you know, coaching career here. But in any case, Mario Goodrich headed to the New York Jets just in time for preseason, right? We got a he has a full week of of uh training camp practices and then and by the way I keep looking down cuz I’m looking at the computer and the date and everything here. But full week of training camp practices, preseason week one next Saturday 8:00 Green Bay Packers NFL Network I believe. So we’ll see how it all plays out. Anyway, thanks so much for watching.
