Bryce McGowens SIGNS Two-Way Contract With The New Orleans Pelicans!
What up? It’s your boy Wall Street and I’m back. Bryce McGawens is signing a two-way deal with the New Orleans Pelicans. And if you are unfamiliar with Bryce McGawans, he is a 6’6, 6’7. Seen different listings, but uh 6’6 or 6’7, 190 lbs. He is a shooting guard/s small forward, a tough wing player, and he is a bucket. He is hailing out of Pendleton, South Carolina. And he spent one college season at the University of Nebraska before being drafted in the second round as the 40th overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was then traded to the Charlotte Hornets where he spent two seasons um playing for both the Hornets as well as the I believe it’s the Greensboro Swarm. That’s their G-League affiliate. So, he was kind of back and forth. Um he averaged about five points per game over the course of his two seasons in Charlotte. Started 21 games. Um you know played a little bit over a 100 games and last season in Portland on a two-way only played 13 games. Did not get a lot of playing time at the NBA level. Um but he was quite a monster in the GLeague for the Rip City Remix, which is the Trailblazers G-League affiliate. He led the G-League in scoring with 29.3 points per game along with 4.1 assists and 3.3 rebounds. Um that earned him a place on the NBA G-League uh second team and he was also a part of the G-League Rising Stars team at NBA All-Star weekend. So this is a guy that has potential. He’s only 22 years old. Um, I’m still unsure what Joe Dumars is trying to do with this New Orleans Pelicans team. I think he’s trying to rebuild without really rebuilding. Um, and they have, you know, some decent wing players, but adding another one does not hurt. Um, you know, they have Trey Murphy, they have Herb Jones, they have Sadiq Bay, but outside of that, they don’t have a lot of wing players. So, I think by signing McGawans, it allows for them to have another wing player in case, you know, they face another injury riddled season like they did this past season. Um, and you know, McGowens is still young. He’s still a guy that can improve. He’s still a guy that can impact the game. So, we’ll see what happens. But if this dude can really reach like his scoring potential that he’s shown in the G-League and, you know, high school and college, like he’s going to be pretty hard to stop. like if he can really do what he needs to do, like he’s a guy that could average 15 to 20 a game if he’s really getting solid playing time. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some injuries come up with this team. Bryce McGowens might be a guy that gets called up and can average, you know, double-digit points for a significant period of time. Now, will that really impact winning for this team? It’s probably not going to turn him into a championship contender, don’t get me wrong, but it’s, you know, it’s good to have a young player who has the scoring touch like McGowens has. So, Bryce McGawan’s head to New Orleans on a two-way contract. I want to know what you guys think about this. McGowens spent last season with the Portland Trailblazers, but spent most of his time with their G-League affiliate team – Rip City Remix, where he led the G League in scoring (29.3 ppg).
McGowens was the 40th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft (selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves, traded to the Charlotte Hornets on draft night).
