MLB LIVE🔴 Los Angeles Angels vs Chicago White Sox – Aug 2, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
Hello and welcome. Thanks for joining us. We’ve got baseball on the show. It’s the Chicago White Socks and the Los Angeles Angels. First pitch coming your way next. So just about set now and starting this one you say Kikuchi. Well coming into this game hitters are batting under 250 against this starting pitcher. So it just shows you how effective he’s been. He’s been able to move his pitches around, add and subtract, change up the look so that hitters don’t get too comfortable and start squaring up the baseball. We’ll see what he’s got in this one. All right, ready to get underway now. A chance for Chase Maid. Up and in. And this one is off and running. And the one. And that one fouled off. The 1-1 is fouled off and that’s way high and it’s two and two. gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. Foul ball. Another 2-2 upcoming. He’s having a tough time getting a pitch by him. As a hitter, you feel pretty confident that you’re seeing different pitches. Still able to make some type of contact. He goes down looking. Well, just couldn’t pull the trigger on the fast right there. And I don’t think he was taking it, thinking it might be a cold ball or anything. I just think he was flat out frozen. Did not expect that location in my opinion. Austin Slater at the plate now. That’s ball one. Kikuchi measures 6 ft even, 210 lbs. He joined the team as a free agent. And another ball swing and a ball popped up. Two away. Time to check out the lineup for the White Socks. A really frustrating showing for them in their last game. Lots of traffic on the bases, but they left a ton of runners on base. Couldn’t cash in their chances, Chris. They had plenty of chances. There’s nobody to blame it on but themselves offensively. They just did a poor job converting in those situations. You have to figure out what’s your plan going to be. Maybe watch some tape from the last game. Make the adjustments. So if you get those opportunities in this one, you’ve got a much better chance of scoring some runs. Two out. Base is empty. Cut on and lifted in the air. And that’ll fall for a base hit. Batting fourth, first base. And up next for Chicago, Miguel Vargas. First offering misses badly for ball one. Two outs. Fast for a strike. 2-1. Carol leads off first with two down to the inning. That one misses and that’s ball three. Just missing off the plate there according to the umpire. And out there on the mound maybe trying to get an explanation. Can’t say he’s convinced, but it looks like he’s accepted it. got them back to one too soon at strike two. Great RBI spot here. Just got to stay focused on the pitch. The runner will be in motion, so something in the gap should definitely score it. That’s a good at bat right there. He was down early in that plate appearance. Works the walk. Very close off the outside corner. Could have easily been called a strike in that location. First and second, two outs. So up next for Chicago, Luis Robert Jr. delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95. Robert needs just one more homer to reach 100 in the big leagues. Yeah, and making it to 100 homers would be quite the career accomplishment for him. Out of the more than 20,000 players to take an at bat in the majors, less than 5% have ever hit 100 diggers. fouled off and they’ll do it again. First and second, two down. Well, they’re really running up the pitch count in this first inning. Lots of confidence from this team that is perhaps the hottest in baseball right now. And that’ll do it. White Sox strand a couple and now the Angels will get their first opportunity in this one. No score. back after this on the show. Back in Anaheim now, the starting pitcher in this one, Jonathan Cannon. Chris, what should we keep an eye on here with him? Well, no doubt about it. He’s going to have to put together some consistently good performances in order to bring that erra down. Now, he’s got good stuff. He’s just got to be able to have confidence, trusted, and really go after hitters, not nibble. trust that his stuff can have late life and miss barrels of bats. Yeah, that’s fouled off in the air out towards right center. Robert on the move. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. One down. All right, let’s take a look at the Angels lineup. a guy who’s been huge for them over the last month plus, Nolan Showell. And Boo, he’s the table setter for this offense. Team leader and on base percentage. I mean, that just gives your teammates plenty of chances to cash in and bring them around to score. Man, I used to love when I had a guy out in second base or third base. Easy to get those RBI’s game after game. You know, a guy like this, what he’s going to provide and the opportunities that other guys are going to get in the lineup. Mike Trout in the box with one away as he takes ball one. Swings through that one out in front that time. One and one out towards right center. That’s well struck. Robert going back on it. Going gone. A solo shot. Home run number 20 on the year. Just like that, they move in front. It’s one- nothing. You can’t ask for a better start than hitting a home run in your first at bat to give your team the lead. That’s an impressive swing of the bat to go over the wall to the opposite field gap. And you know, there are a lot of guys that just don’t have the pop to do that. And probably just as many didn’t have the approach either. He let that ball travel and he got great extension on the follow through to drive it out of here. Nolan Showwell in the box here lets that one go for a ball. Part of the order coming through now and with one home run already in this inning, they’re definitely looking to do some more damage. The one on the ground right side and he can’t come up with it. Safe at first. No play. We’ll see how they score this leftielder looked to me like he kind of let the ball play him instead of playing the ball and it just ate him off. Hands get stiff and even the best infielders make these kinds of mistakes. You just have to learn from it and move on. Runner on at first with one gone. Stepping in Taylor Ward. Good power. Not great in the OBP department. Ground ball to the right side and foul ball. Oh, one down. Brother takes off. Next offering is fouled back. Shadow stands at first with one out. way outside and it gets away. Shanu into scoring position on the wild pitch and there goes the double play possibility. Nobody on defense feels great right now. The pitcher feels responsible for missing so far outside and the catcher wishes he could have done more to try to stop it. Man second and it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. And a one, two again. Got him swinging. Here’s Joe Adele. This is another guy capable of hitting tape measure home runs. Just missed. ground ball left side. boots it. You know, two out errors are kind of like two out walks and sometimes even worse. You know, you think you’re out of the inning, but all of a sudden you got another out to get and the offense has a great opportunity. They’re looking to take advantage of and make you pay for. Luis Renifo gets a chance to hit here. swing and a miss as he was late. At this point, the clean inning is over. Got to settle in, focus on the hitter, and get out of it with minimal damage. That’s a strike across the top of the zone. It’s great to get on the board in the first frame of the ball game, but here’s an opportunity for them to really open things up with a couple of runners on. Let’s see if they can cash in. And that misses off the outside edge. Really good take, especially with two strikes. Ground ball up the middle. Base hit and a run comes in. Still able to come through behind in the count right there. Couldn’t get any air under it, but he smoked that ball back up the middle. Timing was just perfect. got great wood on it and there was just no chance for the infielders with how hard he hit it. Travis Darno will come up to hit. Swing and a miss. 0 and one. No balls, one strike. Two outs. Couple of base runners at first and second. That’s in there. That is strike two. Knocks that one away and will do it again. Ball one there. One and two. And that one goes straight to the back stop. And two in scoring position now thanks to that wild pitch. Man, I got to think something is definitely off with his delivery right now. Already the second wild pitch that he’s thrown in just the first inning. Not a good sign. Two outs, two in scoring position now. One out to right. Slater gets under it and makes the grab and that will end the inning. But two runs for him and they jump ahead. Second inning coming up from Anaheim. Angels two and the White Socks nothing. Back here at Angel Stadium. Second inning set to go. Here’s the third base. Coulson Montgomery. Kikuchi back to work. And that one upstairs. Ball one. Swinging a foul out of play. The pitch in the air left side. Ward sizing it up and there’s one down. Batting seventh second base. And here is Sosa to the plate. Chicago that misses the zone and it’s one and0. Good slider down and in can be so hard to get on plane with. You’re better off taking that pitch. Just missed. That’s a ball. Our played umpire Freddy Ferguson. One out. Base is empty. Just missed. Chris, do players ever change their approach in meaningful ways based on who’s umpiring or is it good to just be aware of tendencies so you’re not that surprised? I’d say the latter because pitchers got to pitch to his strengths regardless. The hitter’s got to hit to his strength. So you’re aware of it, but you have to just hunt for what you can handle. And here is Michael A. Taylor. Grounder might be two. Off balance feed. There’s one to first. Not in time. Great effort there. And here is Kyle Teal. This one in the air right field under it drops into the glove and that’ll do it. The White Socks leave one. They trail it here two nothing and welcome back to the ballpark. Bottom of the second and now number 51 Campo. Ball one and a pitch inside. Two balls, no strikes to count. Swing and a ball lifted in the air. shallow left field and there’s one down. A little drop and drive on that swing. Backside collapsing just a little bit trying to put the ball in the air. The batter now Kevin Newman good defender. He’s been inconsistent offensively. And first offering is fouled off. That one fouled off. One down. Base is empty. Comes up empty as he chases that one in the dirt. Teal down to first in time for the second out. Good job to clean it up after the drop third strike. He had him out in front, which isn’t easy to do against a hitter like this, known for using the entire field. Just couldn’t sit back long enough on that one. Back to the top of the lineup. And next for the Angels, Zack Neto inside, ball one. Two down. Nobody on and that one lifted in the air center field. Robert moves under it. Squeezes it and that’s the inning. Offense held in check there. We head on down to the top of the third. Angels two and the White Socks nothing. And we’re back. The batter will be the shortstop. Chase my draw. Chase my draw. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. Line drive caught. That swing right there tells me he’s sealing the ball pretty well. I know it didn’t produce a hit, but he made solid contact. And that’s all you’re looking to do anytime you’re at the plate. Austin Slater stands in. 0 for one with a fly out. First pitch misses. That’s in ball. Just that’s a ball. Fast for a strike. Fouled off left side. That’s ball four. Tried another fast ball but missed the spot. Oh, looking for a swing and miss right there or for the ump to help him out and make a call with that last pitch, but neither happened. Close pitch, but a good take to earn that walk. Carol in the box now. No balls in a strike. That’s off the inside corner. And now it’s even one and one. and downstairs. Here comes the pitch. Runner breaks for second. Oh, great grab on the dive. Throw behind the runner and they’ve got him doubled off. Back in Anaheim as we go to the last of the third. Here’s Trout. This is a batter right here who really produces in these night games and we saw the latest example of it in his first AB and first offering is fouled off. that one down the line and that’s a fair ball around first and hustling for second in safely. It’s a double and his second hit. Two hits for him in this one. Both for extra bases. Got to feel good about that. Really good swing right there. He got a pitch that he knew he could handle. allowed himself to stay back just a tad bit longer and he hit the ball on the screws. So in now for the Angels Nolan Shanowell he’s 0 for one. That one lifted to left. Calls it in for the out. One away. Now batting left fielder Taylor Ward. Here’s the left fielder Taylor Ward 0 for one. He struck out swinging last time. Come on. Let’s go. There’s a strike. Well, I think that pitch surprised all of us. Right down the middle. doesn’t get a swing. Not very often you see a hitter lay off a cookie like that. This one chopped on the ground but foul. Man at second stays alive. Next offering way off the plate. That’s a ball. Went with the sweeper. Come on. Here we go. And it remains two and two. And a foul ball. He stays alive. The two- two on the way. Cut out and miss. Struck him out. He didn’t make it easy for him on the mound, but they still get the strike out. Joe Adele the next to hit for the Angels. pitch is in there. That’s strike one. Well, I know they’ve gotten out to an early lead, but you don’t want to take these opportunities for granted with two outs. Still lock in with a quality at bat. Drive in that run. You may not have another runner in scoring position the rest of this ball game. And that one is downstairs. And the count is one and one. Nope. Ball. Traff at second with two down. Swing and a ground ball. And that one gets through into center field. Brown’s third headed for the plate. He’ll score and it’s an RBI single and they’re up by three. Well, patience and discipline paid off right there as he got into an advantage count. I know that was a ground ball, but it was absolutely hammered through the infield. That’s not one you’re excited to get in front of if you’re an infielder. You know, they used to say charge it crazy. And now they’ve got some speed on first. So, we’ll see if they try to get him into motion. And now here is Luis Reanifo in the dirt, but kept close. Throw to second. Not in time. He’s there easily. So, a wild pitch allows the runner to advance. Can’t imagine he’s too happy with that one on the mound. Just one pitch after giving up the single, he basically turns it into a double. Runner at second. Two down here in the last half of the third. There’s a swing and a drive and it hits the fence. Run comes in from second. Couple of hits in a row for him here. Anytime you smoke a ball off the wall, you kind of think about what it could have been, but obviously you have to be happy with that result. So runner at second, two down. Travis Darnardo the next to hit for the Angels. And that’s through there for a strike. 0 and one. Chris, through the early stages, he hasn’t been very efficient in terms of the pitch count. He’s going to need to get some quick outs if he’s going to get deeper into this game. It is interesting though when you consider the way the game is run now. Doesn’t even matter that much if your starter doesn’t go that deep because teams are really aggressively building their bullpens. Two outs and one in scoring position. And they’ll do it again. in the dirt. Tag save. He’s into third on the wild pitch. Well, that right there can be a tough read as a runner on second to see if the ball’s gotten away enough to move to third. You have to be sure you can make it because you’re already in scoring position. Well, he was sure there and now he’s only 90 ft away from scoring. Good job to fight that one off. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Swings through it and that’s a strikeout. Two runs, three hits, no errors, and one left. On to inning number four. Angels four and the White Socks nothing as we go to the top of the fourth. At the plate, Miguel Vargas Vargas. The pitch. Foul ball. Vargas, 25 years old and he was born in Cuba. Next pitch is outside. He’s been pitching well, but we’ll see what kind of adjustment the hitters make this second time through the order. We’ll know if he’s got really good stuff in this one or not. And now two and one. And there’s a foul ball. All right, Angel popped up foul territory behind the play. Calls it in and there’s one away. Now back center fielder Luis Robert Jr. Luis Robert now he’s sitting on 99 career homers. We’ll see if this is the moment to notch number 100. First pitch and he just misses. Not giving him a pitch to hit there isn’t a bad thing. He’s dealing with a great first pitch hitter up there. That one outside and the count is 2 and 0. The Halos leading by four. Top half of inning number four. And another ball. That’s in there. And now three and one. Downstairs. And that’s ball four. Been in a very giving mood today. Now batting third base. Coulson Montgomery steps to the plate for the White Socks. Fly to left his first time. Let’s go center field. Adele going after it. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. And there’s two away. Now batting second base Lennin Sosa. So man aboard Lennin Sosa steps to the plate for the White Socks. walked his first time and ball one. Robert off of first with two away. Step off, throw to first. Robert dives back in. Runner on the move. Strike in there. Throw save. That’s a stolen base. You don’t usually see teams try to claw back into games by being aggressive on the base pass like this, but it’s still early in this one. This kind of tells me they’re going to try to tackle this one one run at a time instead of waiting back for a big three-run homer. Man on second, two down. Blind drive. That’s a base hit into right field. Here’s the throw to the plate, but it’s offline. It’s 4-1. does a great job of letting that runner steal second base. Get in the scoring position. Come through with the base knock. You add a run. Runner at first with two away. Michael A. Taylor steps to the plate for the White Socks. And that’s off the inside edge. And that is ball one. And that one missing low. Slashed foul down the right side. That’ll hook off into the seats. Two outs. Strike three on the fast and that ran back over the other half. So, one run in the inning on this base hit. It’s now a 4-1 ball game. You’re watching Major League Baseball exclusively on the show. Back here at Angel Stadium digging in number 51, rightielder Gustavo Campo and that’s outside and that’s ball one. You know, these Angels showing great discipline at the plate and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one. pitch count is pretty high and they’ve played four runs already. So, I think it’s safe to say their game plan is working out pretty well right now. Now batting third base Kevin man at first, nobody out now. The third base Kevin Newman. He’s 0 for one. That’s in there and it’s 0 and one. runn. Here comes the pitch. There goes the runner from first. There’s the ball. Fin with a stolen base. Runner in scoring position. Nobody out. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. fights it off. He’ll see another man at second. Spoils a two strike pitch and he’ll see another. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. Fights that one away. Still one and two. Runner at second. Nobody out. Outside low. Two and two. Two and two. O, that one went straight back and got our ump right in the mask. Let’s hope he’s okay. That’s way outside. And now it’s three and two. Let’s go. Gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. Hey, you got this. Foul ball and it remains a full cow. No outs. Runner on second. and ball four to a board. When you go that deep into a bat, the hitter usually comes out on top. Here comes the skipper. And we’re going to see a pitching change in this spot. Jonathan Cannon won’t go any further. And it’s going to be a start that he’d like to get a redo on. Not his best. Back with a new arm in a minute. now pitching for. So they turn to the lefty in this spot, Brandon Eer. Pretty tight game. So they’re looking for quality pitches out of him right here. Got to do his best to keep the score right where it is. Back to the top of the Angels lineup. Next to hit, Zack Neto. And that one ripped to left and out number one on the grab. Now batting the designated hitter, Mike. And now batting Mike Trout. He’s already homerred here in this one. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. Could use a ground ball here. Something in the infield. Runner at first base. Get two. Get out of this. Tough spot right here. A couple runners on. Two ball count. You can’t nibble, but you have to execute and finish your pitch. If you leave something out over the plate, it’s going to bring in some runs. And another ball. One out. Runners at first and second. And they’re all loaded up. Maybe a little loss of focus on the mound right there. Pretty much gifted in first base with a quick free pass. Nolan Showwell now at the plate. Go for two in this one. swings and pulls a foul to the right side. Just missed. Newman at second. Tra at first. One gone. Ground ball right side, fired to second, back to first. Double play. Nice job getting over and that ends the inning. Just trying to sneak one through with the bases loaded, but an excellent job by the defense to turn that one and get out of this jam. And welcome back to the ballpark. And now Kyle Tealy Kikuchi back to work and a swing and a miss. You know, these White Socks need to bring up the quality of their at bats and specifically their swings. They’re trying to find ways to drive the ball with some authority, but it’s just not happening for them so far. Zero extra base hits in the game, so it’s been tough for him to get anything going. And that is cut on and miss. One and two. Sometimes you have to keep chipping away until you break through. But it’s a lot easier to put runs on the board when you have guys in scoring position because they put themselves there. Goes down looking. Stepping in the White Socks lead off man. Chase MR. He’s controlling things out there on the mound. Not messing around at all. He’s been in attack mode since the very start. The one the short stop takes the ball. Oh, I think the key I mean if he can get through one more inning, anything after that a hitter or two is bonus, but they should be lined up good enough. Oh, this one high and deep way back there. Got all of that one and they cut into the lead. It’s 4-2. This game just got a little more interesting with that home run. Oh, that one got in the jetream on a line drive. We saw the numbers on the backs of the jerseys of the outfielders, which is usually bad news. And all of a sudden, they’re back in this ball game. So, up next, Austin Slater. And that skips in the dirt. Check swing called strike and it’s one and one towards first. Shadowwell and he takes it himself for the out. Now batting number seven. Now it’s the DH Edgar Carol one for two. And that’s in for a strike. It’s 0 and one. It’s 0 and one. Two down. Base is empty but one run across and we’re in the top of the fifth. A rope into right and that’s a base hit. Now batting the first baseman, Miguel Vargas. Two outs, runner at first. And next to hit for the Socks, Miguel Vargas. That one’s in there. That’s strike one. He’s pitching well, but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes. usually doesn’t work out for success, but you can never predict baseball. Carol off of first with two away that catches the zone for a strike and it’s nothing at two. And a bat like this is almost over as it begins. In this situation, you have no idea what the next pitch is going to be. You just got to hope that you can make contact. Next one misses. Now one and two. Foul ball left side. He’ll see another. A one, two. Fouls that off to the left and will do it again. Swag in the miss. The velocity blasted it right past them, but not before they’re able to draw closer with this blast. It’s now 42. It’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show. We head to the bottom of the fifth. So now the Angel cleanup hit. Taylor Ward. Taylor Ward. Swing and a miss. Strike one. You know, these Angels really impressing me with the quality of their bats in this one. It’s been fun getting a chance to see them go to work. It looked to me like they really wanted to get to the starter early, get him out of the game before he settles in. So, I’d say mission accomplished. Steps on first for the out. Joe Adele. And now the center fielder, Joe Adele. and first offering is fouled off. One down, base is empty. Swinging a foul back. That’s out of play. swings through that and it’s a strike out. Now two out. Well, obviously that was nowhere near the strike zone by the time it got to the plate and people at home watching are thinking what’s he swinging at? But I’ll tell you, some of the break guys snap off these days is just devastating. It can be so tough to recognize where a pitch like that’s going to end up. Two down, base is empty. Luis Rangifo the next to hit. Drove it off the wall last time. Just missed out on a home run. Pitch misses. One and0. Two down, nobody on. Last half of inning number five. check swing and he went and a count one and one one and one line drive handles throws to first Angels retired one two three Angels held in check but they still lead this one four to2 two and we’re back all set for the top of the sixth. So here’s Robert now possibly thinking about home run number 100 here. He’s just one shy of that milestone. Turned on but that’s foul down the third baseline. swings here and drives one well left field way back and you can forget it. And that should quiet this home crowd. That’s a special one. 100 career homers. It’s 43. That’s exactly the pitch he was looking for. Crushes it and hits it out of the ballpark. Now the Angels manager is out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pan. Usay Kikuchi done for the night and he leaves in a one-run game. New pitcher coming on. We’ll be back in a minute. Now pitching for new pitcher in the game for the Angels, Jose Soraniano. He’s having a ton of success facing left-handed hitters this season. So this seems like a smart move to turn to him with a lefty at the plate. Coulson Montgomery getting ready to hit that one. Finds the zone. Throwing one. Late swing. Fouled to the left. That just misses and it’s one and two. Man, oh man. I don’t know how you take that pitch. That’s as close as it gets. And that’s down and away. White Socks down a run. And that’s downstairs and outside. headed towards the corner and that is a foul ball. Foul. We’ll see another payoff pitch. Swang at a highf fly ball. Well struck that one. Carrying onto the track and he makes the catch. Lenny Sosa steps to the plate for the White Socks. A walk and he’s also singled. Right through there for a strike. White Socks down a run. Strikes him out with a 100. up next for Chicago. So, two down now and here is Michael A. Taylor. And the first pitch misses for ball one. 10. Strike one. Oh, that’s that slerf right there. Threw it extremely well. Talk about just a ton of break. So tough to get that barrel to popped in the air left field. Taylor coming on and puts the squeeze on that one. And that is that. White Socks draw a bit closer thanks to this home run. It’s now a 43 ball game. It’s Major League Baseball on the show. back in Anaheim. And now it’s Travis Darno with the plate. Travis Darno. Let’s go. And that curve ball drops in there for a strike up the middle. Might drop the throw to first. Leadoff man retired in the six. Now batting right fielder Gustavo. And now the right fielder. swing and a miss. He threw that fast ball right by him. Gives him a little bit of confidence, but in the back of your mind, you got to think, is he trying to set me up for later in this at bat? And that’s in the dirt. One down. Base is empty. Swaying and a ball popped in the air. That’s a base hit. Now batting third base. Here’s the third baseman. Kevin Newman. He is struck out and he is walked. Now snap throw to first and he’s back in easily. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Come on, let’s keep it going. That’s a great take right there. Even though it’s a strike with the situation, runner on first base, you want to keep the ball off the ground and you swing at that pitch, most likely you roll into a double play on the ground and it goes just foul. The next pitch misses and the count now even up. Trying to get him to chase on the change up that time. So, here we go. Base runner at first. Could be running on the pitch. He’s got good enough speed to steal the bag to get in scoring position even if it’s a swing and miss at the plate. fouled off again and it remains three and two. He’s mixing his pitches really well late on that fast ball after seeing the change up. See if he can elevate one. I think if he does he’ll get the swing and miss on the ground to second might be two. Throw to first in time. Up next for the Angels the short stop. So the lineup flips over and next for LA, Zack Netto 0 for three in this one. The short stop takes a ball. Runner at second. Two down. Come on. Close one. Doesn’t get the call. Two and0. Well, no need to go right at this guy. First base is open. He can hurt you. So, make him expand his zone. If he doesn’t, give him a walk. Hit hard on the ground to the right side. And that’s just foul. Swings and blasts one deep to left center. That one back. pulls it in on the warning track. So, one hit is all they get. We’re through six full. Angels four and the White Socks three. Back here at Angel Stadium, here’s the catcher, Kyle Teal. and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. Next off is in for a strike. Getting a little frustrated with the strike zone. Laser base hit. And the tying run is on base. I’d say a mistake pitch in an 02 count. Too good of a pitch to hit right there. You have to expand the zone. Keep that leadoff man off first base. No outs. Runner at first. Chase Maid steps to the plate for the White Socks. And that’s a little high. holding on to a one-run lead here in the top half of inning number seven. Right through there for a strike and that one got a piece of him. Batter take your base now. batting right. So the tying run in scoring position now. Now the number two hitter Austin Slater. Little bit low. Way to lay off that pitch down. One ball, no strike. Swing and a miss. One ball. One strike. Bringing the cheese on that one. the possible tying and go ahead runs on base. Nobody out. Foul ball. Still a one and two count. Yeah, there’s a ball. cuts and misses. It’s a strike out. Edgar Carol steps to the plate for the White Socks. And that one is inside ball one home plate umpires trying to tighten things up a little bit outside and now two and 0. One out. The possible tying and go ahead runs on base. on the ground to first feeds to second out there. Back to the pitcher covering. It’s a double play. Nicely done. And that’ll do it. So no runs here in a base hit. No errors and one left. Midway in inning number seven. And it’s time to stretch. Angels four and the White Socks three. We’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh, Shawn Burke. And he’s had his struggles so far this year. As you can see, the inflated RA looking to bring that down a little bit right here. Burke. Well, one-run game. Now it’s the DH for the Angels. Mike Trout. He’s already homerred in this game. That one’s in there. That’s strike one. Meanwhile, activity in the bullpen. Dan Altavilla up and loosening in the pen. Number 61 also getting ready. Come on, let’s go. Let’s go. That one close. Rule the ball. One and one. One and one. Just missed. Two balls, one strike. That’s outside and the count is three and one. 3-1. Swung on. Belted. That’s back. Out of here. Another homer. his second home run of the game and they tack one on the board. It’s 53 Ziggy. That’s number 399 for his career. One more to go to reach 400. It’s kind of unfathomable and I’m sure he knows it. He put together quite the career to get to this point. I wasn’t sure he hit that one as hard as he needed to to get it out of here, but it had just enough behind it for the homer. What an attempt at the wall, though. He really gave a terrific effort to try and bring that one back. And now the first baseman, Nolan Showell on the ground right side and that one finds its way through. Oh, that started and ended pretty quickly. No messing around right there. He kind of rolled over on this pitch a little bit, but he got enough behind it to shoot it through for a knock. And you’ll take that anytime you can get him to find a hole. So here’s the cleanup hitter, Taylor Ward. That one inside ball one. Bur the tall righty 25 years old and he was a third round pick in 2021. Top of the zone for a called strike. Well, we call that keyholeing. Even though it’s right there and looks pretty good, if he doesn’t love it, he’s not going to swing that early in the count. And that one hammered. That’s back there. Long gone. It’s their second home run of the inning and they add a pair. It’s 73. That’s their third home run of the game. They’re having a lot of fun at the plate in this one. They’ve got the long ball working for them on autopilot. Well, he put a really nice swing on that one and everything was on time. Took a direct path to the ball. Excellent extension and just drove it out of here. Nothing better than when the ball jumps off your bat like that. Here comes the manager out of the dugout and he’ll make a move for the bullpen. Shawn Burke is done. We’ll be back in a minute with a new arm on the mound. New pitcher for the White Socks, Steven Wilson, coming on to face a righty here. And he’s been fantastic against him this year. His numbers in those matchups are very good. All right, let’s go. And next for the Angels, Joe Adell outfield deep here trying to prevent anything over their heads. That clips a corner. Nobody out with three runs in already this frame here. The bottom of the seventh. Nice and base hit. Now batting. So a man at first. Luis Rango the next to hit for the Angels. There’s a strike at the knees. 0 and one ball in the dirt. Nobody out. Runner at first. That one drifts inside. Two balls, one strike. And a foul ball. Popped up to the left into foul ground. pulls it down and he makes the catch and there’s one down. Now batting catcher Travis Darno. So here’s Darnell with one out. 0 for three. A fly out, a ground out, and a strike out. And that is out of play. hit pretty well in the air out to center. Robert sizes this one up, makes the grab. Two down. So, a man aboard. Now it’s the switch hitting outfielder and ball one to the right fielder. Adele the runner at first with two gone. It’s a swing and a miss with the sweeper. One and one. That one not close. Two and one in the air. Left field down the line and that’ll get down for a hit. And now first and second with two outs. Up next for the down the third base Kevin Newman. Kevin Newman. That to right. Slater gets under it, makes the grab, and that will end the inning. But two round tripers in this inning. The long ball was working. It’s now 73. Welcome back. And a new arm on the mound to start the eighth. Carson number 49. Carson Bulmer. And here’s the first baseman, Miguel Vargas. It’s interesting. He plays kind of a a power spot defensively, but runs pretty well. So, when you’re looking at that position, you’re not expecting someone that has maybe above average speed, but he does. Here comes Yan. missed inside with the curve. And I think that skill set really upgrades the position because when you have that kind of speed, it makes the whole team that much better. Swinging a foul straight back battling here as he fouls it away. What about him playing another position on defense, one that would require a little more range? Absolutely. And I think if push came to shove where they had to make a move during a game, it surprise a lot of people. You might even be able to put him in center field. No, just excellent location on that inside fast ball. Really locked him up. And it’s a hitter. It’s not typically what you’re looking for. You’re trying to protect away and then in so you can be a little bit tardy with two strikes. Hard to tell if he was fooled or if he thought it would be called a ball, but either way, that’s a really nice pitch. And now it’s Luis Robert. That one’s upstairs. Ball one. One down. Base is empty. Fought off. Foul. Come on, Angels. Here we go, Angel. The delivery to Robert. That one way outside and it’s two and one. Activity in the bullpen for the Angels. Jose Kihada, the left-handed reliever appears to be getting loose. Coachitz, the right-hander, also getting loose. This ball’s chopped on the ground. Fires to first on the run. Nicely done for the out. Now batting third baseman Coulson Montgomery. Two out, space is empty. Now it’s going to be Coulson Montgomery. Three flyyous already. He’s 0 for three. Fast ball in the inside corner for a strike. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. And that’s ball one. good spot there, but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone. And that one is lifted in the air. Adele sizing this one up and makes the play and that’s out number three. Back now. New pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth. Tyler Alexander. And one thing on him, he’s been really good this season at keeping the ball in the park. Not an easy guy to take deep. Back to the top of the order now. Now it’s the short stop. Zack Neto. With this kind of lead, he can swing freely, try to hit the ball out of the park, do what he loves to do. Close but called a ball. And that’s ball one. Just missed. Was good pitch there. Billy had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge. And that’s what swinging a drive deep right field. Slater sprinting gone. His 16th homer of the year. And they add a run. It’s 83. That’s their fourth home run of the game. They can’t stop. And they won’t stop hitting home runs in this one. Boo. They’re clearly feeding off of each other at the dish. Well, Boo, I feel like we’re seeing more of this these days than we ever have before. You’ve got high velocities on the mound. You’ve got stronger hitters with really good pass to the baseball. So much power in this sport. Opposite field home run. I tell you what, I feel like I see at least one every day. And that was an incredible job to keep that ball fair. Trout stands in now and watches strike one. Trout would reach 400 career homers with one more long ball. swaying and a ball popped in the air and that will drop foul and one and two. Well, if Well, let me say when he hits number 400, that’s really special. Not even 70 players in MLB history have done it. Al Kaline didn’t. This one swung on and hit well way back there. Makes the catch gliding onto the warning track. Up next for the Angels. So in now for the Angels, Nolan Shadow. Shadow. Tap foul at the plate. swing and a base hit. So they get a man aboard with a one out single. Everything came together for him. Showed a willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way. Didn’t get jumpy. Didn’t try to pull the ball. He let it get deep. Took the barrel right to it and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit. Now at the plate, Taylor Ward. And that’s a little bit high. And that is ball one. Shadowwell the base runner at first with one out. 2-1 in the dirt. Blocked. runner on the goal. Swang and a ball lifted in the air. Slater makes the play and there are two outs. Now batting center fielder Joe Adele. And next for LA, Joe Adele. And that’s in for a strike. And there’s a fly ball deep right field. And that one hops the wall. Coming home. The relay to the plate. And he’s out. You’re out. cut down and that ends the inning. Textbook defensive execution right there. Outfielder hits the cut off relay throw to the plate. A perfect strike and a great way to end the inning. Now pitching. We’re back. It’s the top of the ninth and there’s a new pitcher on the m Kihara. And you know, bullpen guys can struggle sometimes when they’re called upon with big leads because it just doesn’t have the same intensity as a tight game. So, we’ll see how Sharp he is. Your mental toughness matters in situations like this as well. And a one in the air left field. Ward makes the catch and his wind goal. Now battles left Michael A. Taylor. So digging in, Michael A. Taylor. This is a guy who’s in the lineup first and foremost because of what he contributes defensively, Chris. And when you talk about preventing runs from being scored, this guy is a big contributor. Base is empty, one away here at the top of the ninth. And it’s one and one. I was always told it’s hard to take you off the field when you play really good defense, especially at a premier position. And that’s what he does. And he lays down a blunt. Bare hand scoop the throw in time. Got it. Man, who doesn’t love a sweet bare hand play like that? That was amazing. White Sacks down to their final out. Kyle Teal steps to the plate for the White Socks and a foul ball. That’s outside and one and one. outside with a breaking ball. Last couple of pitches, breaking balls away. I think he’s going to have to come firm inside to be able to open up that location if he wants to go back there later in this count. At 96, that pitch is in for a strike. The White Socks down to their final strike. Swing and a miss and he got him. that finishes the evening’s action. After four wins in a row, you start to think a little bit that you’re on a roll and that’s the momentum that just takes on a life of its own. Players start hitting up and down the lineup. You never know who’s going to come up with the big hit, who’s going to come out of the bullpen and get the big outs, but it’s a good feeling and you want to extend it. 83 the final in this one. For Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB The Show, I’m John Shabi. We’ll see you soon. What the
