TRADE: #cincinnati #reds Acquire Ke’Bryan Hayes from #pittsburgh #pirates
The Cincinnati Reds just got a gold glove third baseman in Key Brian Hayes. And I absolutely love this trade. What’s up? This is Jeff Gar from the Lockdown Reds podcast. And the Cincinnati Reds get K Brian Hayes from the Pittsburgh Pirates. He doubles their best defensive run save statistic. Absolutely phenomenal deal for this Cincinnati Reds team as they send Sammy Stafer, a shortstop prospect, and Taylor Rogers, left-handed relief pitcher, to the Pirates in this deal. and they get four more years of Key Brian Hayes. The defense now on the left side of the field has just gotten so much better. I I I love this move from a run prevention standpoint. I understand he’s not the best hitter in the league. In fact, right now he’s like almost 50% worse than league average. I think there will be a bounce back there though because even with as bad as his bat is, his defense makes him a positive value in Ren’s above replacement. I absolutely love what’s going on here with this deadline. think more moves are coming, but the beginning is really, really good. We’ve got a lot more on this emergency episode coming up on the Lockdown Reds podcast. Make sure you join us over on the YouTube page or on your audio feed.

I just don’t know what they’re plan is. He’s just incompetent and unplayable offensively.
Is this what we need? We need relief help and a big bat. Don't get this strategy.
So we're out on Suarez. And we end up getting this slap nut player. Zero offense the season is officially over.
Useless. 2 home runs this year. He should not be on a playoff caliber team
Vile trade. Season is over. Top prospect gone.
I think the trade’s goal was to get a new worst player on the roster
Bull. The guy can’t hit. The Reds need bats, not more no-name players with sub .200 batting averages. However, he’ll fit right in on this punchless team.
Unless they do better than this we are in trouble
Put Lodolo on the market, his value will never be higher and this move just made our lineup worse on the hope that an extra play or two at 3B a week will make a difference.
One of worst hitters in MLB…AND THIS GUY LOVES IT ……."Not the best hitter in the league"…LOL
Jeff, I have never disagreed with you more. Not the best hitter?? Look at last year, he was the same. This offense is already struggling, and he's no better than Espinal.
On top of that we owe him $36 MM more? His defense is irrelevant if he's this bad offensively. Not to mention we have up one of our bullpen arms, and a prospect. This may be the worst trade I have ever seen the reds make since I started following them in 2010. Reds have to be serious and add a real BAT and relief pitcher. I have no issues giving up those players in a trade, but this straight up makes the Reds worse on both the minor league and major league roster. He's not even better than Espinal.
awful
They guy is no better than CES.
i understand but not every ball is gonna be hit to 3rd base every game. but what is guaranteed to happen every game is that he’s gotta go bat, and he is a a bad hitter so this doesn’t move the needle
First Connor Joe…now this… I wish management wanted to win as bad as I do
The defense will help. Now we can lose 2-1 instead of 3-1. 😂
Nobody cares, the lineup still sucks
Another automatic out! Just what we need… not!
Booooooooo. We need offense.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤡💩🤡💩🤡💩🤡💩🤡💩
You just showed how much the reds pay you to spread propeganda 😢
I won’t be watching you anymore you are an ass kissing clown that cheers giving up pitching for a .238 hitter 🎉🎉🎉😂😂
Nothing like getting a guy hitting 236.
Wow you really lost some credibility supporting this terrible trade. Dude is an automatic out.
You are foolish bro. This dude cant hit at all for 4 years.
He is BY FAR the best defensive 3B in the game. This makes Elly better, saves runs, and if he can come to GABP and improve his bat, we stole him for the #9 prospect who has 3 guys ahead of him at SS and Taylor Rogers who was a waste. Great trade on paper.
The pie-rats just ate our lunch
Great move a good look.
"50% worse" than the league for a team that struggles to score runs consistently is odd, but they gave up nothing for a great glove.
Wack. Krall has failed.
Krall has no idea what he’s doing at this point. Wasn’t the Lux trade aimed to do just this? Another fail…. Our ballpark isn’t helping anyone hit extra home runs don’t even start with the BS. Lux can be used is this example as well. SOOO DISAPPOINTING
Krall has created nothing more than a logjam of mediocracy
There is a lot of good draft capital being spent on RPs. Not sure a RP is worth a top 100 prospect IMO
If Hayes is so good, why would the woeful Pirates get rid of him?
If we were as lousy as the Rockies and had absolutely no chance in hell of making the postseason, I could almost understand making this deal. But at 5 games above .500 with the Cardinals starting to backslide behind us in the standings, and a legitimate chance of not only a wild-card berth but even winning the NL Central, this move makes no sense. Basically all Nick Krall and the front office did here was bail Cheapskate Bob Nutting out of paying for yet another player in Pittsburgh.
The team is mortgaging its future for a Pirates reject who can't hit and who admittedly has a chronic injury. I do understand that he is very good defensively, but offensively this is more or less a throwback to when there was no designated hitter rule in the National League and the pitcher took a turn at bat. Once in awhile he might get a base hit or even drive in a run, but usually he's only there because you have to bring him up to the plate. And with his back issues, it's not a matter of IF but WHEN he ends up on the injured list again, and we're right back to where we started. Only this time, with less prospects in the farm system.
I don't even think Mike Brown and the Bengals would make a deal this foolish. At this point, Bob Castellini should just put up a giant billboard somewhere along I-75 saying "I admit it, we don't care about winning. But please keep coming to games and giving me and my son your money".
U stole hays from us ur lucky we have a bum for an owner we got a bag of chips and a sprite for the best defensive player in all of baseball sell the team bob
Love the trade! Most of the people who don’t like this trade are homerun based thinkers who probably think Benson is a better hitter than Lux😅
What's gonna happen with N.Marte? he is a good hitter with Power.
What are we doing?
Good on defense not a good batter
I heard he has a bad back ?
This is a pathetic deal where we are on the hook for millions for a guy who is below league average as a hitter!! At Third base no less!!! I'll take Marte throwing the ball away every couple nights over a guy who has managed 2 homers for the year!!
well after watching game 1 against the reds, he let em come in and start rolling with an easy double play ball
As a Pirates fan, glad you're happy. He has been the most consistently frustrating player for the bucs at the plate the last several years. Good luck with him.
