Utah Jazz TRADE Walker Kessler To The New Orleans Pelicans? | NBA Trade Rumors
So, could the Utah Jazz be trading away Walker Kesler to the New Orleans Pelicans this 2025 NBA off season? Well, here on the screen is a trade proposal or a trade idea from fadeawayworld.net. The link to this article is down below in case you want to go ahead and check it out for yourself. But this trade would see the Utah Jazz receiving Sadi Bay, a 2028 first round pick and a 2030 first round pick and the New Orleans Pelicans receiving Walker Kesler. So, this trade’s intriguing to me because we have seen Walker Kesler um as a possible trade, you know, candidate this off season. But given the fact that Walker Kesler is still really young and has shown signs of progressing and being a really good center in the NBA, the asking price for him on the trade market would probably be pretty high. Like, if you’re anytime you’re trading away a 24 year old player that’s getting better each and every season that can be a presence below the basket like Walker Kesler is, that’s going to cost them quite a bit. And I’m not really too sure if this makes the most sense for the uh for the Pelicans to explore, but just kind of looking at this deal now from the Jazz’s perspective. I actually love this hall for them in return. Like the Utah Jazz are very far from competing for an NBA championship. And I know that Walker Kesler is a 24year-old and he’s getting better each and every season and he does fit the timeline of this team tremendously well. if you’re able to capitalize on him being as good as he is and his value being as high as it is. Uh for a pretty, you know, good young player as well in Sadique Bay, obviously nowhere close to Walker Kesler’s level, uh but still a pretty solid player. But most importantly, you’re getting back first round draft picks in 2028 and 2030 from a team in New Orleans that in my personal opinion probably won’t be great at that point. Like the Western Conference is very stacked. I know I know the Pelicans are sort of hoping to add to this team, get back to the playoffs and being competitive in the short term, but being realistic, I probably don’t think that’s probably the best approach for them to take. And they could be tough sledding a little bit here, uh, by not having a lot of draft picks and sort of making on their current core, which I don’t think is good enough in my opinion to be a playoff team on a consistent basis. So, from the Utah Jazz’s perspective, I love this deal. Now, from the Pelicans perspective, like you sort of have to respect it from a fan-based perspective. Like the new front office that came into New Orleans has made some questionable moves to say the least. But at least they want to compete for a playoff spot and they want to be competitive now and not be stuck in this rebuild. Like they acquired Jordan Pool earlier this off seasonason. They made a draft day trade getting a player that they love, but they are sacrificing a draft pick next year which could be a really good draft pick. So, in that regard, you might as well just go one way or the other in regards to the direction of your franchise. You either should be rebuilding uh completely or competing for a playoff spot. And this would be the latter in this scenario. Like Walker Kesler as as the center of the future would be a pretty good fit in New Orleans. Having a front court when healthy of Zion and Walker Kesler is really good. Throw in other players like Jordan P, Herb Jones, etc. in the rest of this Pelicans lineup. Perhaps they can be more than a playin team next year and perhaps be a playoff team. you know, once you get into the playoffs, truthfully, anything can happen in a short period of time. So, you kind of have to respect it from the Pelicans side. But I think that being, you know, completely honest here, it’s probably not the direction they should take. So, for those reasons alone, I think the Utah Jazz win this deal. But, as always, leave your thoughts.
