D-backs vs. Athletics Game Highlights (8/3/25) | MLB Highlights
Jack Perkins is making his first career major league start. Tony, he’s looked good out of the bullpen, but getting his first legitimate shot as a starter in the show. Yeah, I think for him today there’s going to be a lot of emotions, first start, but I think for him it’s getting on the same page with Austin wins. It’s trusting his pitch calling ability. And in Perkins, I need him to get ahead of hitters and attack that strike zone with that four seam fast ball that he’s using just over 40% of the time. Corbin Carroll digs in from the left side. The 3-2 swing and a miss. That’s a good way to start your first major league starting outing. Perkins strikes out Carol for out number one. Now it’s Llays Alexander. 3-2 swing and a miss. Alexander is down on strikes. Backto back Ks for Perkins. Now two away in the first. Raldo switch hitter batting left-handed. Jerry toward the right field corner. Brent Rooker’s out there. It drops fair. Purdomo with a stumble around first. He heads for second and he’s in there with a two out double. Jerry almost tripped up coming around that first base bag. Hits the bag. A little stutter step right there. Almost blew a tire there. Two out double ahead of Guriel who had the big hit in the game last night. 1-1. Little flare shallow right center and it is Urias to make the catch. So a scoreless first for Perkins. We’ll see the ace bats up next. Then Waro Rodriguez on the mound for the Diamondback. Well, let’s dot the edges with his fast balls. He’s got three of them. The two seamer, the four seamer, and the cut fast ball. And if he can locate those on the edges, he might be able to eliminate some of this A’s power. Max Schuman, the third baseman today. And a good start for he gets the strike out and Jos Herrera hangs on the foul tip. Here’s Curts. Lefty on lefty. Very advanced profile for a young guy that shattered the bat and then disposed of Curts. Brent Rooker normally the DH. He’s in right field. Rooker takes outside and draws a two out walk for Shay Langalers. She’s the DH today. They got to get that bat in the lineup because he is on a tear right now. Two two Shay flies it into shallow center. That’s dropping fast and it gets down. Rooker’s going to take third. So Shay extends his hitting streak to five games. puts runners on the corners with Thomas coming up. Way going to miss. He went after the fast ball up and away. Rod, two strikeouts. He strands two and we are scoreless after one. Max Schuman will bump over to second as Ursella checks into the game at third. We’ll uh yeah, we’ll keep you posted on the report on Luis Orias who is out of the ball game. The 3-2 Jake takes ball four and the D-Max get a leadoff walk to start the second. Well, you got what you wanted Candy. McCarthy’s aboard for Lley are 0 for seven. First pitch, that one in the air to right, muscled towards Rooker who runs in and he’ll have to play it on a bounce. McCarthy will go to second. It almost looked like Rooker gave up on that ball and Llear has his first Dbacks hit. They had a big smile, a sigh of relief from the right-handed hitter. Chance for Alec Thomas who’s really swung a hot bat on this trip. Alec Thomas with another base hit. A ringing knock into right field. Alec Thomas stay hot and the bases are loaded for Connor Kaiser. Well, he’s got his first big league RBI. A base is loaded walk for Connor Kaiser and it’s one- nothing Diamondbacks. Chance now for Jose Herrera 185 and a homer. Herrera to right field. Rooker in pursuit and he’s able to make the sliding grab. Locker will tag the RBI for Herrera and it’s two nothing Diamond Bs. Alec Thomas gets into third. Kaiser still at first. Two runs home. One out for Corbin Carroll. Jammed him. Bermuda triangle out there. Big outfield and it drops in. Alec Thomas will score. It’s a blue barbing eye for Corbin and a three nothing Diamondback lead. Really nice job by Connor Kaiser reading that cuz a lot of times you see those high popups fall in and they get the force at second base and a chance to tack on even more. Still just one out. Chance for Bla1 Alexander. Swing and a miss. Perkins strikes out Alexander for a second time. Bernomo had a bloop double in the first. Punched into right. Rooker is there to make the catch. Arizona scores three runs off of three hits to the second. They lead three nothing. Wins at third. Beday at second and Urchella is at first. Second look for Schuman against Rodriguez. Jammed him. Blaze steps on the bank for one and gets the double play. Had to make a pitch and boy the double play bailed him out of a big miss. Perkins lost him. A two out walk will bring up Alec Thomas. Lleair on the run wins with a throw and Tyler Lle’s in head first with a stolen base. Creates a two out RBI chance for Thomas. There’s a little chaos. Alec punches it the other way and it’s under the glove of Ursella. Here comes Lair. Alec Thomas. Stay hot. It’s four nothing Diamondbacks. What a series at the plate for Alec. Conor Kaiser drew a bases loaded walk. Busted bat flare and it’s caught by Curts retreating but the Diamondbacks add another run. So it’s JJ. He saw one pitch, drove it back up the middle for a single in the second. That’s cracked to right. That’s dropping fast and in front of Carol. Leay has a two-hit day and sets up shop for the A’s in the bottom of the fifth. Archella the final hitter to come up for a second time. Then you turn the lineup card over and then it’s a third time through against Rodriguez. And now a line drive base hit byella. Backto back hits and here comes Schuman. And now the A’s got a little something cooking here in the fifth. Two on, nobody out. That lineup going to turn over here for the executive. And Max Schuman would love to see some productive outs here. And lays it down. It’s a nice one. Only one play for Rodriguez. He throws to first and Schuman gives himself up. Advancing both runners 90 ft for the power threat. Nick Curts. Got Blade at third. Urchella now at second. And Curts hitless today looking for his first. 200. And he will get it to right. Bed scores. Urchella getting the windmill home. It’s a two-run ball game as Curts delivers a two RBI single to right. And that right there is precisely why you need to be able to get the job done. Take care of the little things like we saw from Matt Schuman. Get the bunt down and Nick Kurts turns on a 91 mph heater in finds a hole through the right side. Rooker in a positive scenario. Line to left right at McCarthy. Two out and here comes the danger man. Langalers popped him up in the left. Coming in is McCarthy. He will make the catch. And a good job by Rodriguez to get Rooker and Langalers and get out of the inning without any further damage. Here comes Tory Lavell. You send him back out there for the sixth at 85 pitches after he had kind of a sketchy fifth and walks the leadoff man. You see probably a little upset at himself for walking that leadoff hitter here in the sixth inning. Colby Thomas, he’s at first now. Austin wins the batter facing the new pitcher right-hander John Curtis. Double play ball here again for Blaze and he starts it. Kaiser turns it. Taylor made nice job by Bla1 Alexander once again in the footwork. So quickly two down for Derel Hern along the line. Let’s see if the wind keeps it playable and it does for Corbin Carol who’s able to run it down and what little foul ground there is out there. So the wind helps out John Curtis who gets three quick outs and ends the six. Lays Alexander for three. Lays skies it deep to left. Leed backing up to the track to the wall and it’s gone. Lays Alexander gets his first of the year. He got the slider and he blazed it. Oh, did he ever. Sometimes a slider just speeds your bat up. And boy, he did miss that one. Here is Max Schuman with a run around third and one out. Two-1 bouncing ball to third. That’ll bring home leay. Schuman has an RBI ground out five to three. And the Dbacks have two on with one out in the ninth, leading by a pair. Alexander will see the plate in the ninth. He’s got a chance to tack on at least one run here. Blaze to center that drops in. Here comes Joey. Blaze Alexander tacks on a run and it’s six to three. How about Dave Blaze? Second RBI today for Alexander. Base is full of Diamondbacks and two outs. Well, it’s a chance now for Jake McCarthy 0 for three. He walked and scored. Payoff pitch. Oh, wave and a miss. McCarthy strikes out, but the Diamondbacks get another run. They lead six to three. One more chance for the A’s. So JJ up three for three. I think even getting back in there and being able to have a multi-hit day is is good for the confidence and there you drive deep to right. That ball’s headed for the BM and gone. Make it a four for four day for JJ Blade. Anchor down. Well, JJ’s been seeing the ball well all afternoon. Got himself a little wrinkle here from Nelson. And that’s two outs. So this is the out to get. Got him. Kyle Nelson gets his first major league save and the Diamondbacks get the series win in Sacramento.

Tales ball 4 was right down the middle
Right field os hard to play..it is like day and night..believe it or not..center is the easiest to play
Bleday…prove yourself…good game…fat part on the bat..out front of the plate
Nice work, D-backs! Now keep it going against the Padres! 🤞
How does Urshela go from a world class organization like the yankees, to the Oakland Athletics?
The Arizona Diamondbacks are 53-59🔴⚫️⚪️🐍☀️🌇🏜️🌵

Feel like the A's are a few decent starters away from being a decent team
3:35 Burmuda triangle 😅
A’s need a couple more consistent hitters & they can compete
Think it to late for the D-Backs but they sold at the deadline so.
