  1. Might hate me, I think we should’ve traded Tucker if everyone’s so confident ricketts won’t pay him

  2. Jed apparently doesn’t believe in this team either since he sat on his hands and didn’t get these guys any significant help.

Why even trade for Tucker in the offseason if the response is to do essentially nothing for the third best team in the league?

If Jed is so worried about prospects, maybe he should’ve just dumped Tucker at the deadline. Imagine if Theo’s response in 2016 was this because he was scared to overpay…yeah, no world series that year.

  3. I know that I’m gonna get flamed by the doomers for this but I think everyone needs to take a chill pill. We are the second best team in baseball right now and we haven’t played consistently great for over a month.

Teams go through slumps and I would much rather slump in July than October. I’m not saying we’re gonna cruise to the WS or anything like that but I would have given a kidney in 2022 if you would have told me we would be nearly 20 games over .500 at this point in three years.

  4. The hilarious part is that baseball is a long 6 month grind where players, coaches, etc. are best served not getting too up or down about the day to day results.

But if you were to read about the team in their daily game threads, then you will get mostly nothing but extreme takes.

It’s apparently hard to expect nuanced thoughts over time rather than immediate responses to the current game whether positive or negative.

  5. I don’t think they’re going to the World Series or that they need to burn the team to the ground. I’m glad they extended Jed and didn’t trade the farm for a starter but I am worried about the Ricketts spending. I think it could hamstring the Cubs but how is that a new thing? Ownership not spending money. At least they seem smarter than a gum company or a newspaper.
