Cardinals vs. Dodgers Game Highlights (8/4/25) | MLB Highlights

It is a happy Monday, a blue heaven on earth because the Dodgers are home and it’s Roi Sasaki bobblehead night to kick off this six-game home stand and kick off this series for the Dodgers against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. Max Muny is back returning from the IIL. The numbers show before he went down best offense in baseball, the most runs per game in the major leagues. Since he has been out, they are dead last in Major League Baseball in runs per game. Tyler Glass now making its 10th start of the season. No decision in Cincinnati as the offense came back and picked him up. Herrera sat on that and pulled a 97 mph heater for the Cardinals first hit. Herrera redot six hits in his last nine trips to the plate. Big Alec Burles. Herrera takes off. Good jump. Pitch a strike. Throw to second is late and Herrera got in safely. Mookie bets with the tag on the ground to second that stolen blaze to cook away a double play. Now the leader of the Cardinals Wilson Contras a Rollola to Rojas Glass now works around the one out base runner for a scoreless top of the first. Time for Sunny Gray to write the ship. He was certainly excellent against LA back in St. Louis. He tries to beat him for the second time tonight. Shi Otani stands in against the veteran righty Sunny Gray and he gets a swing and a miss. Otani with 18 strikeouts now in his last 37 at bats. Good start for Sunny Gray. One away in the first and there are two down for the Dodgers. Freddy’s been on base in 19 straight games. And Freddy Freeman checks his swing. Sunny Gray strikes him and show Ootani out to get things started on the mound for the Cardinals. One up, one down here in the second. Mason win at 270. His average is climbing like the temperature. He’s had a terrific run since the all-star break at the plate. Swing and a drive hit high in the air toward left. Confo back. The show has begun. Mason win with a solo home run. And the Cardinals strike first. This ball is right off the bat. A home run. 389 ft on that bomb. Home runs are thrown. That one right down the middle. Sure was. And Mason Win didn’t miss. Three consecutive Cardinals have reached against glass now in the second. Home run for win. Base hit for Sajay-Z. And then a walk to Pahes. Brings us to the last of the order and the speedy Victor Scott the second. Glass now’s 02. Slash to left. Confo is there to make the play and record the second out. Now we get back to the top of the order. Popped him up on the infield. Smith running out from home plate. Muny in front of the mound. Makes the catch. Welcome back, Max Muny. A nice round of applause. Muny, a payoff pitch up and away. Ball four. Forto left-handed batter who played with the Giants last year, former Met. And it’s one and two. The pitch to Conorto. Swing and a miss. Sunny strikes him out. Ricky has the third. One- nothing Cardinals. Alec Berles, the left fielder. He grounded to Rohas at second. First time up in the first inning. There’s his first K. It’s Burlson. The wave at strike three. Two down. Wilson Contras steps back in on the way. Outside corner. Got him with a fast ball at 98. A one, two, three inning for Tyler Glass now with two strikeouts. Bets fly out to right his first time and grounds this one up the middle. Mason win to his left. Unleashes an unreal throw and Contrarus digs that out at first. Good play for out number one. A rocket from Mason Win, but it was in the dirt and a good stretch and good hands by Contras. Freeman is next. Freeman tried to extended on base streak to 20 consecutive games. Freddy Freeman high in the air to right field. New ball on the warning track at the wall. We’re tied. That’s a home run in three of the last five for number five. 1-1. What a way to extend his streaks. a sevengame hitting streak, a 20game on base streak, and a new ball game here at Dodger Stadium. That’s the first hit for the Dodgers off of Sunny Gray, and it produces a run. Swing and a miss. Sunny Gray responds to the homer with his fifth strikeout. He’s gotten Smith for the first time. Two pitches and two outs in the Cardinal sixth. Well, that helps pitch counts. And typically, there is a kind of an unwritten rule, I guess, for a hitter. If there’s a one pitch out right in front of you to start the inning, you’re going to take a pitch. Now the USC Trojan Lars Nupar. Two outs and the base is empty. That’s at the knees. 99 and strike three. An eight pitch inning for Tyler Glass. Now now show Otani. Otani has struck out and grounded out to second. Batting .273. 38 home runs. 73 RBI’s. Swing and a miss. Otani chases a sweeper and Sunny Gray has his sixth strikeout. Two away in the inning. Now on two and two with two outs. Spooky bats takes just one. Oh, a delayed called strike on a pitch that looked low and Mookie Betts gets the ring up. Two strikeouts in the sixth inning for Sunny Gray. Seven in the game. Cardinals have a run on three hits. The Dodgers one run on one hit. So JC is single. He’s also popped to center. A one-two pitch. Got him swinging. Six strikeouts for Glass now. Two down for the Cardinals. And the catcher Pedro PZ coming to the plate. Did he go? Yes, he did. Pitch 101 is strikeout number seven and seven strong from glass. Now we’re tied at one. It hasn’t been rare for Will lately to hit the long ball. Nine in the last 35 games, six on fast balls, but really whatever the pitch type, no matter the location, Smith’s found a way to hit it. Chopper left side to JC. Nice pick. Low throw and Contras digs that out. Good play at both ends. Another ground ball out for Sunny Gray. Now he faces the ever dangerous Max Muny who’s walked and bounced out. Pitch number 90. Swing and a miss. Sunny Gray started went seven innings of one run, one hit ball. Outstanding work by the Cardinal starter Sunny Gray. How can Pedro Pahes rescue us? But it won’t be Mr. Pahes. It’ll be Joel Po who comes to the plate. Two down, two on. Bozo’s been one of the, if not the most effective pinch hitter for the Cardinals this year. Lined in a right. It’s a base hit. Oo comes through again and the Cardinals are back in front with a fist pump from Joel Elo. A huge pinch hit single. Show Otani is 0 for three with two pump shots so far. First pitch drilled to right field. Nipar cuts it off. Otani with a wide turn. He’s heading back to first. The tying run is on base. What scares you about the slump that Mookie is in? He’s going to break out of it at some point. You hope it doesn’t come until after we leave town. Dodgers have the tying run aboard in the air to right. Long run. Newbar coming on. Still coming. Still coming. Dive and makes a great catch. Last moment. Newbar dives and makes a grab in foul ground. An unbelievable catch for out number one. That is an unreal first out for Lars Nuke. Now Freddy Freeman can’t get it over your head in this situation with Otani Speed. Swing and a miss. Freeman chases. Two outs in the ninth inning. The winning run is on base and the tying run in scoring position for Maxy. Swing, drive, hit toward right. N is there and the Cardinals have won it. Jojo Romero nails it down. What a game. What pitching and what clutch hitting for Oliver Marmal squad. The Cardinals take round one at Dodger Stadium.

  1. Blowtani WHO ? UNDISPUTED Manager of the Year Oliver Jose Marmol and his St. Louis Cardinals (the GREATEST team in the league) are the HOTTEST team since All-Star Break! The squad is going 105-57, TAKING the NL Central, MAKING the postseason once again and in two/three months (depending on when the games are in October/November), HUDDLING around a World Series trophy for an unprecedented TWELFTH time.

Masyn Blaze Winn, MY GOODNESS !! In the top of the second inning, the 23-year-old from Katy, Texas, gets the offense rolling by DEMOLISHING A BOMB to left field.

In the top of the eighth inning, Iván Aaron Herrera, the 25-year-old from Panama City, Panama, OBLITERATES A BALL to center field!

Yohel Enrique Pozo, GAME SET MATCH … In the top of the ninth inning, the 28-year-old from Maracaibo, Venezuela, smashes the GAME-WINNING RBI single to right field, driving in Garrett Reese Hampson!!!

In the bottom of the ninth inning, right-fielder Lars Taylor-Tatsuji Nootbaar makes BREATHTAKING #SCTOP10 catches. That PROVES the STL is not only the best offensively, but defensively, too!

Ladies and gentlemen, if you're looking for the CLEAR-CUT Cy Young Award winner, it's Sonny Douglas Gray. The 35-year-old from Smyrna, Tennessee, nabs EIGHT GREAT strikeouts! HATS OFF to Riley Chun-Young O'Brien and Joseph Abel "Jojo" Romero, both part of the best bullpen in the league, for the SENSATIONAL defense!

    TIME TO FLY !!!!!!!!!!!! #12in25 #STLFLY
