PADRES PAIR! Ramón Laureano and Ryan O’Hearn have been reportedly acquired by the Padres! 💪

We have a trade alert. I went to break saying ryan o’hearn could be on the move out of Baltimore. John Haman has the very latest with breaking news. John, what do you got? Yeah, Ryan o’hearn and Ramon Liano go from the Orioles to the Padres. We, you guys have been talking about the winners. Certainly the Mets are a winner. The Yankees are a winner. Mariners are a winner but is anybody a bigger winner than the Padres reeling in two excellent bats here, Liano and o’hearn and I think needed as well. Their offense hasn’t been quite as great as you think with all the good names that they have. But right now they have quite a good well rounded team. They do, they have prospects left to trade. It’s incredible what they’re doing right now. They gave up the best one. Obviously, Leo Devries that that was the big one and that went to Oakland, but they are great at procuring talent. Uh We’ve seen that time and time again AJ Preller is so good for the game. I mean, he really is entertaining on a day like this , the trade deadline. John Hamon. Thank you. Very much. Ok. Uh, this is, this is big. Now you’re starting to look at a game of musical chairs to, because there are a lot of position players the Padres have and you’re just wondering how these two fit into what they’re doing. Yeah, Loreal has had a great year. He’s not just a defensive guy now and I love the o’hearn signing. I think it make gavin Sheets a full time. DH, in this case, you know how they split the time. Clearly, Lorean, the better defender will be out there will lead late in the game. But I think o’hearn is gonna help this team. This now is to me, is a much deeper lineup with these options than they had. It was a kind of a top heavy lineup for me, but now you see offense in a lot of different places here. So when you think about Fermin behind the plate, the defense Miller at the back end already was probably the best bullpen in baseball. This has been a very good couple of days for the San Diego Padres. What you said earlier about the Mariners breathing down the neck of the Houston Astros and the Astros needed to make the moves they made and they made a dramatic one to reacquire Carlos care from the Minnesota’s wins and Then they went and got Jesus Sanchez the left handed bat they were looking for, you can see the same thing about the Padres only three games back of the Los Angeles Dodgers retooling their roster in such a dramatic way. They did. I, I tell you, I love o’hearn, I mean, Liano defense and all that speaks for itself, but o’hearn is a big time hitter. I mean, big time. Now, the Dodgers, how I view them is totally different than what everybody else does. Why do they have to do anything? All they gotta do is get healthy. That’s the best trades you could ever make. If the Dodgers bring back their payroll. They are. They, they’ve had the best trade day. You go get Blake Snell, you’re gonna get all the pitching coming back. You’re getting all these. So you don’t think the Dodgers are sitting here paying attention what the Padres are doing, they’re paying attention , but I don’t think they’re sitting there going, we got to make these major moves. I think they got 11 move that they’re a little concerned about. And that would be, what are they gonna do in left field? And if Conforto who’s starting to come out of his funk a little bit plays like they hope, Then they’ve answered that. But that would be the biggest thing for me. I think you’ve seen M Mookie starting to get healthy again. He’s getting his weight back. He’s playing show. Hey, freddie, you got that combo at the top of your order. You are feeling pretty good and the pitching is starting to get healthy. I, I just think you gotta look at for what it is. If they get back, what they think they do in August, it’s the best trade deadline. You could have. You said that Ryan o’er, is, is a really, he’s a great hitter. Ryan o’hern had some mediocre seasons for a very long time. This was his best season of his career. All star. Is he what we see in 2025? And the Padres believe they’ve got a great hitter coming to. Yes, because we’ve seen it now. Three years in Baltimore, this guy was a 217 hitter with Kansas City and they basically were done with him. He found a new life here in Baltimore and he’s caught his, his strikeout rate almost in half. He’s added like 80 points to his batting average. He’s a completely different hitter than he was in the early days in Kansas City. If you can look at the numbers, almost the same number of games in Kansas City as in Baltimore and much better hitter and what he did, I don’t know if we have the tape here to show you, but what he did was he made some changes in his set up. Uh That really was really, to me it’s sustainable. Guys. Get hot change of scenery. We hear that, that, that, that phrase all the time, but I want to show you what he’s done here in terms of changing. We’re going back to his days in Kansas City here and you’re gonna see here late on the fastball here and now same, using the same camera angle. I want to show you the difference in the swing you’re gonna see the set up. First of all, the bat is a little bit held a little bit higher, but watch as he gets to the contact point, his posture is going to change dramatically on the left hand side. Watch his head now and how far will dip? You see that? It’s all about the posture here where the Orioles had had much more straight up and down if you will than he was before getting to the right posture, starting with the right bat angle has made a world of difference. And he did that ever since he got there in Baltimore. And again, almost the same number of games, completely different hitter. Some guys find it later in their career. He’s one of these guys. When you think about ryan O Hearn, you have to think about the player. He’s been the last three years, not early in Kansas City, eight 37 ops the highest during his time in Baltimore. So O Hearn and Liano go to the San Diego Padres. I want to get Steve Phillips and Joel Sherman involved on this. You heard what Harold said about the Dodgers knee jerk reaction or if there will be one after they watch the second place team in the NL West Retool their roster like this. Yeah. So it’s interesting guys, you know, that we see sort of the Dominoes fall where the Astros Good Jesus Sanchez, probably because they found out that ryan O Hearn wasn’t a factor for them or loo and Then we see the Padres get both those guys. The Dodgers now are in line to get Stephen Kwan. It seems to me like that that’s the move for them to get Kwan Dalton rushing. Likely the trade piece going back in return is the lead piece in it because remember yesterday in the three team deal, they got that rod, the left handed hitting catcher from Tampa Bay who can now be the backup to Will smith and I think rushing now be freed up to come, that trade chip. It feels like the Dodgers and Kwan seem to fit right now. They do. Let me say one overarching thing. It’s very easy on a day. Like today when your rivals are doing things to say, what are you doing? Well, they’re the defending champions and the what if they did nothing? We would still look at their healthiest version of their 26 man roster. We don’t know if they’ll ever get there and say that’s a team that could win a championship again, even if they do nothing in the next hour and 23 minutes. Conversely, they’re the Dodgers. They spent more than 400 million on payroll this year. That’s over 100 60 million in tax, they’re not going to stop. And Quan is the kind of guy who you can imagine hitting postseason pitching. You’re watching everybody go out and get power pitching that misses bats in October, Quan could hit power pitching in October. It feels like a Dodger move. Griffin Jacks is still out there. Is that so like at the last second, if you like about 6055 minutes after the deadline, if we heard the Dodgers did a couple of things just before the deadline, it wouldn’t surprise me, but I would keep in mind they are an excellent team no matter what they do from here on. It’s a good point. I do think though they do need something in the bullpen. And remember last year, right at the end, Jack Flaherty ended up a Dodger, right? Just as the deadline was coming to an end, they got Flaherty and it shocked everybody don’t be surprised if they wait. Teams are left kind of holding the bag and the Dodgers jump in guys and who knows we might see three more Tres by the Padres. I mean AJ Preer might not even be close to being done.

Padres reportedly acquire 1B Ryan O’Hearn and OF Ramón Laureano from the Orioles, per multiple reports including @MLBNetwork Insider Jon Heyman.

  1. Padres got fleeced once I heard the name Leo Devries in ANY trade…. Yes, LEO wasnt traded for THESE guys, but it doesnt matter about any trades when you give up the #3 prospect in ALL OF BASEBALL. SAD!

  2. people keep saying padres have no farm but every year AJ re-stocks/re-plenish the farm for more ammo to acquire win now talent. AJ is the best GM in baseball!!!!!

  3. I don't think the Dodgers have much to offer for Kwan. Kwan is also not a good October bat. Not sure where these guys are getting that from.

  4. Padres now have of the best potential lineups, Aj Preller is crazy for doing this, we have so many new people, better catchers and a crazy lineup that includes

    1. Tatis

    2. Merill

    3. Machado

    4 o’hearn

    5. Laureano

    6. Arraez

    7. Bogaerts

    8. Jake

    9. Fermin

Crazy, the padres also have a 2.98 ERA, the best era and only ERA under 3, with a bunch of pitchers like, Mason Miller, Jp Sears, Morgan, Matsui, and Wandy, Estrada, Morejon, Adam, Suarez with 30 saves, Darvish, Cease, Pivetta, and King, we had this 2 era before the new pitchers, excited to see padres doing this good, go padres, and have fun in San Diego!

  5. Yall thought padres were sleeping then boom right at the deadline AJ pulls off 7 trades! Absolute menace for trades!! Padres have improved tremendously

  6. That’s some much needed help but I’m still concerned about our starting pitching. We gave up two of our starters and only got an injured Nestor Cortes. We still have king and musgrove out and I’m not sure darvish and cease will hold up for long.

The bullpen looks good though. We have Estrada, Suarez, morejon, Adam, and now miller. And we have Morgan Matsui and Peralta if needed. Seems really good.

And glad we got some LF and catcher help with O Hearn and Laureano and Fermín. Hopefully they bring some bats cuz Bryce Johnson was good but not good enough and it was rough seeing sheets in left. Hopefully Fermin can hit because we are dangerous when our catchers are hitting

  7. Ryan and Ramòn thank you for all you done on the orioles you guys are going to be missed by the team and fans. Best of luck to you on the Padres. 🧡🖤

  8. The Padres got two good ones. Laureno is having a surprisingly good offensive year in Baltimore and he has a cannon for an arm. O'Hearn plays good defense at 1st base and his bat is great. Take care of them Padres fans.

  9. Remember during the Soto trade everyone was calling out the Padres that it wasn’t “sustainable” yet year after year they straight ship them prospects for proven MLB talent.

  10. It’s going to be a god morning for San Diego fans!!When we tune in 97.3 the fan for the full rundown of the players we acquired!!🍻🍻🍻🍻Go Padres

  11. Padres have 5 key players on big contracts that are over the age of 32. You either win these next 2-3 years or the team is going to be too old and the window closes

  12. Padres are a big rig with no breaks …they are ripping through everything on their way rn… ARRAEZ Machado and the entire squad are just on it…..
