San Diego Padres vs Arizona Diamondbacks Predictions Today | Best MLB Picks For Today 8/5/25

We’re on a 13-4 run with our MLB free play videos and I’m going to share one of my client plays with you in the showdown between the pods and the Dbacks. I’m Steve Crave from sportsmemo.com. Brew Crew on the run line against the Nats. They crush him 16-9. Uh this Milwaukee team’s on fire. Uh just like my Red Sox uh brew crew number one record right now in the MLB today. San Diego minus 134 on the money line. Total of nine. Not much in the way of line movement, in way of the side or the total. We got U Darvish against Ryan Nelson. And Nelson’s held his own this year. A very solid 3.20 erra. Held his own in Detroit. He did give up four runs, but only one of those was earned across five and a third. He did face the Padres’s back in June. Five scoreless innings there. However, his underlying metrics suggest he’s due for some regression here. Uh his XRA is 4.06 and he has a below average uh strikeout rate. So, Padres’s getting the second look at him tonight. And uh current Padres’s are batting 270 against Nelson with five home runs. Solid sample size, 115 at bats. Uh U Darvish on the other side. It’s been a shaky uh start so far this year for Darvish coming off the injury. He let us down a couple starts ago. Uh but he he pitched his best outing easily of the season in a tough matchup against a Mets team that really does well against right-handed pitching. He threw seven scoreless innings last time out. He does have an erra of 6.46. Obviously no good. He did face uh the Dbacks in his first outing. Not too too much you can read from that. He actually I watched that game. He looked great out of the gates. He pitched three and two/3. Uh allowed two earned runs. Obviously, his first start coming off an injury. Not too too much you can read into that. Uh good sample size against Dback Sluggers. They hit 261 against him. Six home runs across 19 at bats. Huge bullpen advantage here uh for San Diego. This is one of the best bullpens and at this point now that they’ve added Mason Miller, arguably the best bullpen in the MLB over the last 30 days, number one in ERA, number two in whip, uh Arizona’s bullpen, horrendous all year. In past videos, I’ve talked about this being their Achilles heel. Obviously, now they’ve made some trades and their lineup has been affected by those trades. We’ll speak more about that in a minute. Um, but yeah, this is a bottom five bullpen in Arizona. Not much faith in any of the arms for the Dbacks. And also speaking of the Padres’s, their line, their bullpen is basically fully rested. They used a couple of arms last night, but none of their key arms, Mason Miller, uh, Suarez, Estrada, all available for tonight’s game with yesterday, uh, off. So you look at these two teams, one was a buyer, one was the seller. At the trade deadline, we talked about the Padres’s adding Mason Miller. They added JP Sears. That didn’t work out too well in his in his last outing. But they also added some sticks to this lineup. Loreno and O’Harn uh from Baltimore. On the other side, Arizona, they uh their lineup is really suffering, I feel like, at this point. They trade away Josh Naylor uh Naylor trade away Suarez as well. And when you really look at this lineup now after Corbin Carroll, Cel Marte, this lineup falls off of a cliff. Predommo is a good hitter, but not when he’s counted on to bat out of the cleanup spot on a consistent basis. He’s a nice piece. Um Guriel, he’s a he’s a solid hitter, but after that, this lineup really falls off of a cliff now without Suarez and Naylor. um as part of the lineup. Also, the Padres’s getting a second look at Ryan Nelson. I think this lineup can do some damage against him. Let’s just say the starting pitching between Darvish and Nelson is a wash. I trust the Padres’s lineup more at this point, especially with the additions compared to the Dbacks who um sold a couple of pieces. And then when this gets to the bullpens, the Padres’s have a huge edge in the bullpen. They’re fighting for playoff positioning. It’s a loss season for the Dbacks. I don’t see another way to look here. It’s a little juicy at minus 134, but I’m going Padres’s on the money line in this one. It’s my official play for the video. It’s actually a client play as well.
