Hope everyone’s doing well. We got the Athletics headed into Washington to play the Nationals. I believe this is one of the only teams that have Monday off. I don’t know if they are the only ones that have money off or there’s another two teams, but these teams both have Monday off. And look, man, I actually think this is going to be a very intriguing and interesting matchup. U both these teams basically have identical records and they’re two teams with potential. They’re two teams with potential. They’re kind of two fun teams as well. You know, you got Nick Herz with the athletics. You got guys like James Wood and CJ Abrams for the Nationals. We got a lot of young fun talent on these teams, but they just don’t have the pitching staffs and, you know, the other resources to actually win games consistently. So, you know, these are two teams that I will be watching over the next couple seasons. And I I think these will be two teams that are do I think these are two teams that are doing the right things right now. I think they’re building a solid core, but I just think it’s going to be time before either of these squads um you know are able to be competitive consistently throughout a whole season. So for this matchup, man, it looks like we got Severino on the mound for the Athletics and Mackenzie Gore on the mound for the Nationals. You know, Mackenzie Gore has been the Nationals most consistent guy all season long, but as of late, it really hasn’t been pretty. I mean, he’s given up he gave up six earned in his last start against the the Astros. two starts before that he only pitched two and one-thirds of an inning and gave up eight earn against the Padres’s. He has a 675 erra RA in his last five. Don’t get me wrong, in his last five starts there’s some there’s some good starts sprinkled in there as well, but there’s also just been some starts where he’s completely falling apart. So, I still think Mackenzie Gore is the most talented and most reliable guy in this nationals rotation, but it’s a little scary backing him right now. I’m not going to lie, it is a little bit scary backing him. You know, this is a national team that got swept by the Brewers this weekend and they got cooked. They got absolutely wrecked. The Brewers scored 16 runs against them in game one, eight runs in them, eight runs against them in game two, and then 14 runs against them in game three. They really needed this day off on Monday to get those bullpin arms a bit of a rest. The Athletics are also coming off a tough series this weekend as well. You know, this was a hot team. They’re still, you know, seven and three straight up in their last 10, but they did lose that series two games to one to the Diamondbacks this uh this weekend. They’re going with Severino. So, Severino is actually coming off a really good start against the Mariners. Um only allowed one and run, allowed five hits. Uh it was a it was a good start because Severino’s problem this season has been that he struggled in that ballpark in Sacramento. So, for him to have a start like that in Sacramento is a is a positive sign for Severino. You know, with this game, this this game could get out of control late. You know, these are the two worst bullpens in the league. Um, you know, the the Nationals bullpen is dead last in the league when it comes to an ERA perspective. They have a combined bullpen ERA of a 589 and then the Athletics are right behind them with a 522 ERA. So, I’m I’m going to lean athletics in this game. I I am I’m I’m going to lean athletics. Um but I think the over is also a good play. This is kind of a game I want to see how game one goes. You know, both these teams are kind of rolling into this one not with a lot of momentum after this weekend. But the the the losses that the Nationals took this weekend, I can’t back them. I can’t back them, man. This bullpen and this pitching staff got absolutely blown up by the Brewers. Um I just can’t back them right now. So I’m I’m going to take a shot here with the athletics. I think Sephino has a decent outing. Um, and and like I said, this national team, until they show me something different, until this pitching staff shows me they could be even somewhat competent, it’s just not a team I want to I want to back right now.
