Lamar Jackson Talks Joint Practices With Colts | Baltimore Ravens

did you feel that you got out of practice? Uh, great work. Um, went against a good defense. Uh, guys caught some great passes out there. Um, great runs. I feel like overall it was a great day. It was a good day. Camp sometimes get boring to get boring where you like look forward to these kinds of opportunities to see other guys and see different players. I mean, I wouldn’t say it’s boring, you know. Uh, I say, you know, uh, just competing against another team instead of going against side guys all the time. Uh, your competitive side starts to kick in a little more. You haven’t been able to play many of these preseason games the last few years. Practices like these feel like Yeah, it does. It does. And um, we get great work out of um, out of these type of practices. Why do you feel so good? I believe just his feel for the game, you know, his feel for where he is on the field and uh the routes we have going on and he he got a great eye for the defense. You talked about trying to, you know, establish that chemistry with uh DeAndre Hopkins now going up against another team. How did you feel? Where do you feel like you guys are in that? I feel like we’re getting better. Um I feel like we’re great. Um I I I messed up one time though. I didn’t think he seen me on the uh route I gave him. He did see me. Um but uh overall, I feel like we did pretty good today. I saw you talking to the uh official there as you were coming off the field. Were you trying to figure out something? Oh, no. He was he was talking to me about that uh the call from Cleveland game when I got kicked in the leg. He was asking me what happened, but you know, it’s all good, man. Feel like it’ll be a call next time. Um, awesome, man. Charlie Charlie’s getting a great feel for the game. Uh, looking like a little uh Mark and little Isaiah out there. Um, in his own way. In his own way, man. He coming along great. Fight breaks out. Where where are you? I’m chilling, you know. Uh I know the cameras be on all of us, so I can’t really do too much, but I feel like our guys handle their own. Yeah. You said uh you said you felt like you all had a pretty good day. So, a couple times you got frustrated, but a couple times you were very happy with everything. How do you measure uh you know, having a good practice or having a good day, especially like in a joint practice like this? Oh, yeah. When I did that, you know, it’s just competitive nature. I’m always going if something don’t go my way, if it don’t look good to me, I’m going to I might have a reaction that people, you know, used to seeing. But, um, just watching how my guys are out there on the field and how we moving the ball, certain periods, I feel like we did pretty good besides a little BS interception, too many, but it happens, man. What are your chemistry with TZ and some of the other young guys kind of develop throughout camp? Uh, you know, uh, man, Chaz, our chemistry has been doing good since last year. You know, uh, Giants game, he had his first touchdown, I believe. Um, and you know, he’s he really haven’t been getting a lot of reps with me uh this count, but I feel like we we right there. We right there. Okay. Mar sound like he from Baltimore a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. Coach was telling me, uh, yeah, he he glad he don’t have to face me twice a year anymore. But, um, I told him it’s always going to be competitive. you know, it’s division rival. Um, we see him twice a year. Uh, and no matter how the people say the record is, you know, it’s always a good game. You know, that’s what we were pretty much talking about. We watched your number Houston, you know, have your highest speed you ever had, you know, running the ball. It didn’t even seem like really running, trying to run that much. And then we see that here run that 70 some yard run against the defense. I mean, in year eight, do you feel just as fast as you did when you came in? Absolutely. Uh, I’ve been said that, you know, um, except when I was like, and I got a little bulky. I was kind of like tired a little bit. That’s why I had to get that weight off of me. But I feel good, you know. I feel like I did my rookie year, you know, speedwise, mobility wise. I feel great. where it needs to be. I feel like our offense is always room for improvement, you know. Um in camp is it can be uh we have good days, we have bad days, we have okay days, um we have great days, you know, but um I I feel like it’s always room for improvement. We right where we need to be right now. Speaking speaking of speed, Katon Mitchell, what are you seeing from him out here and what expectations do you have for him this season? Uh high expectations. Um to me he’s he’s getting his speed back. Um but uh more repetition and he’s going to be where he need to be. He’s looking good to me. Lamar, what have you noticed going against your own secondary? Obviously some new guys, your guy Jai here. What have you noticed about kind of that remade secondary practicing against them? Uh they make practice extremely competitive, man. There’s a lot of first rounds in our secondary. A lot of guys who’ve been around, you know, besides Malachi obviously, but those guys are, you know, they’re ball hawks. Ball hawks. And I see it each and every day. competitive see you reunited with Jire I guess now say one more time John said he’s like seeing you and Jer like reunited I know we talked to you at the beginning but after a bunch of practices like what’s it been like we see him celebrating with you there talking to you like then he celebrated against me when he caught the little two interceptions man I got that a lot in practice you know back in college so I’m used to that but you know that’s my brother man I love we got him on our team man I’m looking for a lot out of him this season one more teams that escalate when you get these uh these joint practices. Do you feel like this is was kind of a good measuring stick for you guys to the team and off to see where you are at this point? Uh absolutely. Um because we don’t see these guys every day, you know. Um we get to see different looks uh from different guys, different type of coverages, see how different guys different people, um different blitzes and stuff like that. So definitely we get we get a lot out of these type of joint practices. Thank you, Lamar. Appreciate y’all.
