I can’t clip the Islanders analysis here, but basically they like everything Darsch has been doing so far (including the Romanov extension), but we’re getting crushed by the terrible long-term contracts Lou gave out like candy.

  1. We’re in a great position for this retool over the next couple years. I don’t think there’s any reason to be upset about literally any contract we have on the books. All are moveable and not complete killers. Ntc’s are the biggest issue but most contracts come with those now.

Mayfield, Duclair, engvall, etc won’t be hard to move in a year or 2 as the cap continues up and that’s if they don’t bounce back and play just fine for those aavs

  2. Dom’s a dum dum. Here’s 2 bad takes at opposite ends of the spectrum.

    Sorokin a C
    Duclair a C+

    Cmon now.

  3. In 3 years when the cap has sky rocketed. Bo Horvats contract is going to look amazing.

  4. Engvall and Mayfield contracts are brutal. I think the Athletic is too critical of Pulock though and Sorokin at C is a joke.

  5. I’ve really come around to the idea that Dom is an idiot. His “model” is just badly designed nonsense that supports his preexisting biases.

  6. The mayfield and engvall contracts are the worst? Gee, who could’ve foreseen that 🙄

  7. Some of this is dumb. Horvat is a huge plus to the team and he wasn’t gonna come or stay here for 5 million lol

  8. I don’t think we could really pay much less than that for some of those guys. They should be pretty easy to trade by the deadline for those prices.
