Cardinals vs. Dodgers Game Highlights (8/6/25) | MLB Highlights

Show day takes on a new meaning today. Not only hits, he pitches and they give away his championship ring. Otani taking the field trying to pitch the Dodgers to a series win over the Cardinals. Resuming his buildup after things were shut down in Cincinnati last week. A cramping in his hip that he felt right from the beginning of that start. Was able to get into the fourth inning, but unable to complete for like he had hoped. young man that’s rehabbing at the big league level because he’s so popular and we’ve seen that today with his championship ring. He’s going to be hitting lead off. He’s now pitching. Fly the other way. Alex Call is going back. He’s still going. He’s still going. Twist around and makes the grab. Alex Call, his first batter at Dodger Stadium wearing this uniform, makes a tremendous play. First and only chance to make your first impression on your hometown fans. And how good does that feel when you look up and you see Otani giving you that reaction. Ivon Herrera lofts his ball to center field. Pahz will make the catch. Kind of handcuffed him there. He gets a thumbs up from Otani. Well, these guys are going to get some autograph balls for their foundations. Otani can take him to dinner. He can do whatever you want. Give him a few autographs. Strike three. 989. One. Hundo. Otani has this game off and rolling with a one, two, three. First, Matthew Liberator. Two quality outings for the Cardinals. Not in terms of length, but in terms of runs and innings pitched. And Otani goes right from the mound of the batters box to start the bottom of the first inning. No score. Otani chops one down to first. That’s off of the glove of Berles. And Joe’s aboard. Booted by Berles and Otani is aboard on the error by Alec Burles. Mookie Bats. If there’s somebody you’d like to see get on a roll and capitalize on yesterday’s results, it is the guy at the plate. Pitch grounded toward Short. Should be two and Donnie the turn. Thank you very much. Pets double up and that clears the bases for Libertore here in the first inning. And with two outs, Will Smith a and a swing and a miss. How about Libby works around the air. A double play and a strike out later. He puts up a zero. Fuel is on. Liberator versus Otani. We head to the second inning. Otani’s back to the hill after the one, two, three first inning which finished with a strike out. Former teammates right here on team Japan. Show Otani Lars Nukebar and I get way too close for comfort. Look at Otani’s stuff. He’s down on strikes, one gone in the second. Show is leaning on the fast ball so far and he’s trying to build his pitch count up, which was 51 in the last start. The cramps took him out. Trying to avoid those big innings. Strikes him out. A nose diving breaking pitch right there. swung on and missed. Strike three to get him to chase the slider in the dirt. Third strike out for Otani. Six up and six down for Shi. Bottom of the order for the Cardinals do up against Show Otani. Walker first pitch pops that one up center of the diamond at second. Rojos fights the sun. Can’t make the play. Ah, somewhere. You know what Harry Kerry is saying? How does a guy that play for the Dodgers lose a fly ball to the Sun? Rohos just did. Jordan Walker is aboard. I believe that’s going to be a hit. It’s a hit. It’ll looked like a line drive though in the box going there goes the runner and the pitch is outside the throw to second. Not in time. Stolen base Jordan Walker. That’s his fifth. Boy, did he pick his spot there. A huge jump. Stolen base. And just like that, the Cards have a runner in scoring position. Fast balls by Pahz. Man, it’s been live and he’s known it too. He has just leaned on it. He is not needing to set it up. Foul tipped it into the glove of Smith. 100 mph fast ball. Strike out number four for Otani. 4-3 goes the put out. Walker advances from second to third. Donovan drove the ball a long way to left. Alex Cole made a really tough catch. Is a bun attempt towards third. Donnie, he’s going to try to beat it out. The throw is not in time. A bunt hit for Donovan. Scores Jordan Walker from third base. One- nothing St. Louis. The Cardinals take what the Dodger defense gives them and they score the game’s first run. Oh, what an intelligent play. Not a fan of Bunting with two outs, but this was a perfect timed play. And the inning continues for the DH Cherrera. Strikes him out. Gets out of that sun. And for Otani, that’s strikeout number five. Cardinals get a run on two hits. They leave a man. It’s the Cardinals one, Dodgers nothing. Alex Call who’s made an impact on this game with a couple nice plays in left field. Makes his first at bat as a Dodger in this ballpark. Poking one down the line. That is a fair ball. And you get a chance to watch him run into second with a leadoff double. He’s learned how to do it quickly. Otani on the days that he pitches now 6 for30. Has not had a day off since midappril. Longest games played streak on the team. Smacks one in the air deep center field. Scott going back. Forget about it. It’s gone. Halfway up the pavilion. The Dodger pitcher launches a massive home run. his 39th this year. It has gone. A two-run homer for Show Tani and the Dodgers take a two to one lead and his 1,000th career hit. Showtime at Dodger Stadium. He is the Beatles in one body. The crowd that he draws, the attention that he draws, fantastic. Could the Beatles pitch Tomy’s home run flipped the score? 1,000th career hit. This is what we presume would be his last inning of work today. Another strike out. Back door breaking ball after all those fast balls that he speeds him up with. Little bit of a flinch in that swing that gets the swing and miss. And Otani has six strikeouts. One down in the top of the fourth. Swing and a miss. Strike three. Got him with a slider. Seven strikeouts for Otani. Two away for the Cardinals in the fourth. Well, now he’s starting to make you guess. You’re on big league rehab, pitching at the big league level with an erra below three. This is certainly one of those days folks that are here can say, “Yeah, let me tell you about the time I watched him do this.” Hit a home run and strike out eight in four innings. If this wasn’t a perfect day, the only thing that got in the way of show was the sun. Otani strikes out the side in the fourth. Eight strikeouts for Shi Otani. Andy Pahz leads off the fourth with a base hit in the left. Leadoff man all four innings for the Dodgers. Rojos to the plate. Pitch goes to the back stop. A wild pitch by Liberator and down to second base. Pah. Andy hits a change up and gets the second on the wild pitch. The Dodgers have done very well against everything but the fast ball. Here goes Pah. And Pah’s throw. Ricochets off the batter. The ball sitting in the unduck circle and Pes comes in to score. This throw hits Miguel Rojos’s back and it’s just fine. There’s no problem right there. Pah has got to sneak behind and make the throw. Andy Pahz, the Dodger runner, got a really good jump. Guessing stolen base in an air. Andy Pahz scores the third run for the Dodgers. And they’re at the corners. So Berles, lefty lefty has a single. Tying runs are on again for the Cardinals. this time with nobody out trying to cut into that lead here. Now Newar needs to make some contact. Larso for two. Otani punched his ticket twice. Steady hits it towards short. There’ll be one play. It’s to first. Newar makes contact. That brings home Herrera. Give Nar an RBI. That is number 39 on the season. The Cardinals cash in the leadoff walk. They’ve got another man in scoring position and now trail by one. And it’s served into right field for a base hit. Two strike knock for Mason. Eurles stops at third. They’re at the corners. One out. Eurles won’t be able to score because that ball was hit so sharply to Tay Oscar Hernandez. Nolan Gorman tying run at third. Go ahead run at first. Win takes off. A swing and a miss. The throw down is not in time, but they get the strike out of Gorman for the second out of the six. Seventh stolen base of the season for Mason Win. Now they’ve got the go-ahead run in scoring position. Two men out. and Jordan Walker, the right fielder, swinging. It’s a comebacker to Robleski. Runs toward first, underhand toss to Freddy and the Cardinals will leave two. They get one on two hits. You got to go back over five outings to find when he gave up a hit. That was back on July 23rd. So, not only locked in for two months, but right now pitching at a very special level. And a shot past Freddy Freeman into right field. A two-hit game for Berles. He’s two for four. A single in the sixth. And now this base hit leading off the eighth. Cardinals have out hit the Dodgers 8-7, but they’ve left six men on base in the game. Hard hit and through. What a played appearance by Mason Win. He’s got a multi-hit game. The tying run is Pearlesson at second base now and no one getting up either in the Dodgers pin. Well, Walker’s had a nice day at the plate. Two singles and a comebacker. Can he provide a two out hit here in the eighth? Swing shot into left center field. Down for a hit. Here comes Burley. They’re going to wave it. The throw’s coming to third and everybody’s safe. Walker dives and that ball’s in right field. Here comes Mason to score and the Cardinals have stolen the lead. Oh, outstanding offense for the Cardinals in a big situation. Let’s go Cardinals indeed as Walker comes through with his third hit of the game. And the Cardinals have had several chances, but they finally come through here. The Dodgers make a mistake and the Cardinals come up with a two-run eighth inning to lead 4-3. So great opportunity for the Cardinals. Two on and an insurance run 90 ft away in the ninth inning with one away. Well, Newar made contact in the sixth inning in a run scoring spot. Driven to center on his horse, reaches up, can’t get it. It’s off the wall. One run will score. Narr with a double off the center field fence. The Cardinals lead 53 and Nbar smoked that ball to straightaway center field. Pahes has caught just about everything hit over his head, but he couldn’t get to that one. The 16th double for Nbar, his second RBI today. Riley O’Brien, 30 years old. He got his first career win on Monday. Now he’s looking for his first career save. So it’s up to Max Muny. He’s got to get on here. Dodgers need some base runners. You got Muny, Freeland, and then Otani still possibly. There’s ball four. Alex Freeland comes up as the tying run. This is personal for him after having that throwing error at third. Tonnie Lumen over there are on the ground. Donnie to his right. Backhand and the throw and the Cardinals have won the series. The Cardinals win the season series over Los Angeles. And Mark, what a way to wrap up this Western trip.

  1. How is it we won the season series against LA … yet we lost 2 of 3 against Rockies last week ? I don't understand this year's team. Glad they got rid of Fedde. Now get rid of Mikolas.

  2. Cardinals fan from the Pacific. Theyre gonna miss the post season, the way they are playing… Losing series against team below .500??! Marmol needs t😊 go

  3. Glad to see the team win, but man I HATE seeing Jordan Walker and Nolan Gorman do anything with a baseball. They look like they’re guessing what to do 98% of the time. Can’t wait for this team to clean house and get back to a winning culture.

  4. Two things you never or rarely see in a baseball game ⚾ Ohtani strikes out 8 and hits a two run homer while the Cardinals catcher Pages throws a baseball into the hitters bat lol and run scores never seen that one

  5. Like I said Monday taking 2 out of three from the Dodgers in LA right before the first pre season game for the Rams is saying hello Rams remember us that's sweet

  6. I was a kid when the Beatles emerged on the music scene. Ohtani is a great baseball player, but his isn't one percent of the phenomenon the Beatles created…………………………..

  7. Cards are going to have to catch on fire if they have any hopes to make the playoffs. They'll have to be 10/11 games over .500 in two months. They've done it before.
