A’s vs. Nationals Game Highlights (8/6/25) | MLB Highlights

A fun one yesterday season high and runs a season high and hits and guess what that leadoff hitter seems to work out for Mark leading off for the first time in his career and he was setting his own table yesterday. Five hits three homers in the backstop. He has been hot to say the least. We get our second look in the big leagues at made his big league debut almost three years ago. Shoulder discomfort and Tommy john surgery left him on a long rehab trail over the last couple. But the big right hander to the slab here at Nationals Park takes ball for K and his first batter faced back in the big leagues. Look at the curveball nasty at 89. It’s ok to smile. I honestly hope he’s able to take a moment right there. Just take a deep breath. You’re back left, poked in the air, shallow left center field. James Wood moving in to his left wood tracks it down and Kurtz is retired two up, two down for Brent Rooker. 75 hitter got him back to back triple digit fastballs from returns to the big leagues with a flourish two strikeouts in a 123 1st. Welcome back, Jeffery Springs his turn in the rotation tonight for Jeffery Springs. It’s about maintaining consistency doing a fantastic job of staying away from the big innings two outs in the bottom of the first, the second baseman former Cardinal Paul to young fly ball to right field coming up for to day and make the catch for the out three up, three down for Jeffery Spring. Nice start for the score after one K. Cavalli faces JJ was four for six last night with a home run and a career high six runs batted in first K on the curve the second on 100. Now he drops the nasty change up on JJ play 91 mile per hour changeup that almost had split action on it. That is nice. Struck him out on a curveball has four strikeouts. Just one athletic has put it in place so far all three pitches are working. That was a nasty dropping curveball out of the second, no score with 45 and six coming up starting with the switch hitter , Josh Bell, flailing swing and Miss had no chance on that changeup. 1 to 2 pitch strikes out josh Bell for the first strikeout of Springs this evening. Right handed hitter, 2 54 2 homers, 18 runs batted in job done the changeup. It’s House as well. Two strikeouts in the inning for Jeffery Spring is finally retired on the 13th pitch of the at bat. That’s big to get that. It’s a real downer if you battle that long and lose him, may shorten his outing a little bit. Ultimately, he keeps him off. Bases have yet to have a baserunner. Now it’s Matt Schuman who was the lone athletic to not record a hit in the starting lineup. He went 0 to 6 bouncing ball up the middle, moving to his right is the young across his. The throw pushes Lowe off the bag and Schuman will reach. But that is the first baserunner of the game for either team play most of his career. All on the left side of the field. That’s a different throw coming across. He’s going to have this most of the time an there to keep it in tact there. Dan up again. He struck out in the first. He’s zero for one. Now he grounds one up the middle and through for a hit. Schuman takes a turn around second. He will get to third and the have him on the corners with two outs. Once a baserunner got a board, Cavalli finally surrendered a hit and now he has to face Nick Kurtz on a four game hitting streak. Runner goes from first and he blows Kurtz away 98 up and in Cavalli has five Ks through three scoreless and he works out of his first jam back in the majors. Rooker will lead things off be Rooker Soderstrom 34 and five to face right hander Cavalli right in there with the breaking ball. Six K’s for Cade. Feel like he knew he didn’t have to get a chase. The swings told him that line drive base hit into right field for that is the fifth hit for JJ Bled on this road trip. Here’s Tyler Soderstrom, the left fielder Soderstrom struck out swinging in the second inning zero for onem. He swings at the 3 to 0. We grounded to second and young second out at first. JJ at second will bring up the shortstop Darrell that would roll to the shortstop CJ. Abrams scoops it up and throws high but staying on the bag. Oh, they pulled him off the bag. Wow, what a break for the A’s and thought for a second. Lowe kept his tip toe on the bag but he did not. It’s going to be an error charged to Abrams. So a with another opportunity thanks to an error. Now, 1st and 3rd with two outs for Lawrence Butler and a swing of the ground ball to short again, Abrams has it. He throw across the first on target to Lowe and the inning is over CJ. Abrams fly to left in the first inning. Leads off the bottom of the fourth bounced back nicely by off balance throw, dug out by KT what a play on both good making that play to his right, the off balance throw, you know, he just got to get the vicinity. Kurtz found a way to dig it out and there are two wins that’s 11 in a row to start the game retired by Jeffery Springs that will bring up the second baseman Paul De Young popped up and Kurtz head to the line and into foul territory. He will make the catch three up , three down. Once again for Jeffrey Spring through four, he loses Schuman and the A’s now 1st and 2nd. Nobody out here in the fifth inning. The catcher Adams going out there to check on him, jim Hickey. The pitching coach is going out there as well to check on the right hander that will bring up Shay Langs fly ball shallow left Abrams out wood jogging in this will be still coming in and James Wood makes the catch in very shallow left field retires. Langoliers is coming out. Cavalli’s first start in the major leagues in 1076 days will end after four and a third innings. So much to like about this first appearance. Get a nice ovation. The former first round pick some of the fans on their feet right now. Appreciating the right hander. Cade Cavalli big spot for Connor Pilkington scoreless game two on one out top of the fifth facing the hitters in baseball, left handed hitting nick Kurtz Elkington with a fastball right to the outer edge and he gets nick Kurtz for the second out in the fifth. Here’s Rooker. Rooker struck out twice and misses outside ball four. Another change that loads the bases for Jeffrey Joseph here in the fifth inning of a scoreless game chopping ground ball right side right at Paul on the second baseman, he’ll flip to first and the inning is over. Connor Pilkington gets the nationals out of trouble. The athletics leave the bases loaded and this game stays scoreless through 4.5, Two outs in the fifth. That’s now 14 straight retired by Springs to start the game that will bring up the third baseman Brady House swung on and missed down. He goes, he strikes out House for the second time. Three strikeouts for Springs. He’s retired 15 straight to start the game through five complete. It’s Tyler Soderstrom up against Connor Pilkington. The left handed relief pitcher swings all over the first pitch lacing it to deep right, traveling back Hassell and that ball is the wall and gone. How about that’s the way to start? Tyler Soderstrom changes that zero with a solo home run and the A had one that was a bullet off the bat of Tyler Soderstrom. Soderstrom joins the twenties club. A couple of friends in that one of six will call it off the bat for so popped it. Who’s thirsty? So he pops for everyone. Riley Adams leads it off against Jeffery Springs wiser side and these two teams trade solo shots in the sixth. It’s 1 to 1. Riley Adams with his seventh home run of the year to break up the perfect game of Jeffery Springs. He kind of hung a slider over the middle of the plate and Adams got the barrel to it. Each team would leadoff homer in the sixth inning and the Nationals are back even in the game. Strike three nice bounce back job by Jeffrey Springs to get the via strikeout tipped into langeliers glove. A strikeout for springs back to back strike out for him. Now, five on the evening, one pitch is lifted the other way to left on the run is Soderstrom still going by the line. He makes the catch. They’ve gone to the bullpen spring six innings, one hit five strikeouts and 92 pitches. Sean Newcomb will come out of the bullpen and face James Wood , Paulo and josh Belt, a line drive left center field, a base hit for James Wood on the second of the game. That’s how the Nationals sean on the ball to third. Urshela flips to the second baseman Schuman on the first and a 543 double play. That was as smooth as butter by Geo Urshela played the ball back. A nice side arm to Schuman who quickly turned it over to first and Newcombe gets two for the price of 12 pitch and he just continues doing what he’s a slur gets a swing and a miss and Newcombe faces the minimum in the seventh, the single in a 543 double play and Then a strikeout call to the bullpen for Jose Ferrer. Guess we can call him. Now, the Nats closer Kobe Thomas is the pitch hitters blew it by him. Fastball at 99. Struck him out. Ferrer just smoked it by him with two outs in the ninth. And that will bring up the second baseman Max Schumann out to right. Jose Ferrer retires all three. He faces top nine new pitcher, the 32 year old right hitter, Michael Kelly 139 a for Kelly robert Hassell leads off bottom nine. Hassell to right. Thomas hassle the second one just into the game. Thomas laid out, it looked like he had it for a split second but he couldn’t hold it and hassle another extra base hit back from the minors. Jacob Young who has eight sacrifice bunts and seven bunt hits is on a clear bunting spot is bunted foul. He strikes out big out right there. Strikes out on the bunt attempt very unproductive at bat for the national center fielder and here is CJ Abrams who is zero for three has flied to left and robbed by the second baseman Schuman looping line drive shallow left that’s going to fall for being in the, of the plate from Soderstrom bounces off the and the nationals win. They’re a chance to, to could not hold out on the, it’s fine. Second base as the Nationals win and walk off style 2 to 1.
