Minnesota Vikings Ranked #10 in NFL.com’s Preseason Power Rankings

[Music] What’s going on, Jeromes? So, of course, we do the most accurate power rankings in the known universe. And if you disagree with any single one of the rankings, you’re wrong. How does it feel? But we like to take the temperature of the national media. Jon haircuts as well. At NFL.com, as I choke and die, uh, they got to me at NFL.com. Uh Eric at home uh did up the preseason power rankings and the Vikings checking in number 10, which I don’t know. I I feel like at this stage I understand their logic, but I also don’t agree with the teams ahead of them. So, it’s okay, right? Uh but uh NFL.com Mano there with his vinegar strokes. It’s going to be good. So, Eric and number one, Eagles, sure respect. Two, the Ravens. I feel like the Ravens defense is going to be legit. Loved Derrick Henry. Love Lamar Jackson. I mean, Rashad Baitman extended a long time. Is they likely likely to get paid? Sure. Uh, so the Ravens at two ahead of the Chiefs at three, Bills at four. I I understand, you know, the the consternation of why the Bills are so low. Personally, I would have the Bills at two, but it’s a bit of a log jam at the top of the AFC. Ravens, Chiefs, Bills in some some way, shape, or form. It’s perfectly fine. I got a problem with the Lions at five. Do people realize that this is not the the same team as last year? And then to your offensive line got significantly worse. Uh it’s young and untested with Rattlage and Mahogany. It is old and whatever with Glasgow, but other than that also losing Aaron Glenn, losing Ben Johnson, it’s a major deal. Like I if I can find a market, actually I have found a market uh where you can put a jelly bean or two on the lines not to make the playoffs. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We’re good. Uh commies at six. Yeah, the whole business with scary. Terry, you hangs over the the squad right now. And um McLaren was fantastic last year with with Daniels. And now you’re hoping that Debo is going to be your wide receiver one. I don’t know. I don’t know, man. Uh then seven Buccaneers. I think the Bucks are one of the more underrated teams uh in the National Football League. I like Todd Bulls. Love this defense. Uh also with uh with Evans, Godwin, and Ibuka. I mean, Baker’s underrated. Our guy Bucky Irving’s good. Packers 88. I cannot wait until they just they’re trying to hype up Matthew Golden. Uh try trying to make him into the next Terrell Owens. Not so much. I But the Packers quarterback room, lots of questions. Safety room is perfectly fine. Lots of questions in their front seven. Offensive line has been in flux. Uh they they extended Zack Tom, which is great. But I don’t know. I I feel like basically you’re just going to rely on Jordan Love. It’s not going to happen. It’s not going to happen. Way too high. The Rams The So the Rams are now down one spot because I feel like, you know, Stafford obviously has had a bad back since forever. But this one feels different, you know, where Yeah. I mean, a veteran quarterback, you know, not getting a lot of work in training camp because you’re you’re resting him. That’s fine. But, you know, all all this talk about, all right, back issues again, older player again. Uh, you know, Stafford had ribs and back problems last year. Not in the wild card game. Find that out. Uh, but also him getting epidural. Like, I’ve never heard of someone getting epidural that wasn’t pregnant. Unless Stafford’s got some news. So, I don’t know. I don’t know, man. But the Rams I I know they’re hyping up Devonte Adams. I know they just paid Kyrie Williams, but I don’t know. I I just I’m not feeling it this year with the Rams, especially the Stafford’s dinged up. Jimmy Garopppolo Garopolo. Jimmy Mppenlow. Is this going to heat lead them to the promised land? Nah. Vikings at 10. So overall, I I understand why Hey, frankly, I I’m glad that they didn’t put the Bengals in the top 10. Chargers a little bit out of rated because the Bengals, yeah, they they got Burrow, Chase, and Higgins, but what about the O line? What about the defense? What about all these other things? Uh 49ers, overall overall it’s fine. Like I I feel like the Steelers are fine there. Bears a little bit overhyped, overrated, but I like that the Vikings are are in the top 10 and the third team in the NFC North. Whatever. Yeah, is what Ed wrote. I’ve seen some people drop the Vikings much further than this in preseason rankings. And frankly, it’s surprising to me. Eric Holm, ally of the show. I feel a little sheepish putting them this low. That’s what we’re talking about. If you’re asking me if they’re a strong candidates for a win regression following a 143 season, I’ll say yes. Well, yeah. Uh, but I’ll also counter that this Vikings team doesn’t have many warts. The depth at a few spots worries me. Uh, but we all know the biggest coefficient is destined to be the play of of JJ McCarthy. Not everyone is convinced he’ll elevate the team. I’m willing to give him a good chance to be special one day. He’s entering a terrific situation. Well protected, wellarmed, and with a defense behind him that can cover quite uh a few tracks. And that’s one of the more underrated uh pieces uh about the Vikings this year and about JJ McCarthy specifically. This defense, this defense is going to be legit. And it does take some of the starch out of what you need a quarterback to do because it’d be different uh if this defense was allowing, you know, 28 28 30 points a game versus one that’s uh you know, allowing 15 16 17. like the what you’re asking of of the young first- time starting quarterback is a lot different in both situations. So, obviously the defense is going to be great for McCarthy just, you know, baseline not allowing points, but also shortening up drives of the opposing offense, good field position, uh forcing punts, uh getting turnovers, all of that is in the favor of JJ McCarthy and something that is unseen and untalked about. And of course, you know, the weapons, the offensive line once they get there, Kevin McConnell, all that stuff, it’s been talked to death ad nauseium. But I I I just feel plugandplay wise, like McCarthy, he’s got it right in between the ears. He’s got a good arm. He’s got great mobility. I think it’s going to be asset in the red zone. Plus, that defense, man, it’s going to be good. So, as I said, I gave at home some leeway here because 10, I feel like, is fine for the national media. Personally, I would have the Vikings in the top five, but that’s a conversation for another day. But overall, I I I don’t mind this other than the lines of the Packers are way too high. I’m not buying them this year. I’m not buying them for the foreseeable future. I think the Rams with the Stafford news, they could be dropped a little bit as well. But 10 for the Vikings, I feel like amongst the national media jer haircuts, I mean that ranking the Vikings at top 10 is basically just ranking them one. All right, because we’ve seen a lot of teens. We’ve seen a lot of, you know, middle of the table rankings, which is fine, but I can’t wait to prove all the haters and the losers wrong. It’s exactly what’s going to happen, man. Uh, anyways, your thoughts are thoughts. Uh, NFL.com’s power rankings. Vikings check in at number 10 overall, which is fair.
